Well, I think may be he had some affection on Ji-An before she kill his father, that maybe why he keep torment her because his pain by his complicated feeling toward her.
I'll state my theory again, I think Gwang Il already fell for her. He just doesn't know that his feelings is love, all this time he thought it was anger. He prevents himself from falling for her by being violent. He's angry to Ji An but at the same time he's also angry to himself, that's why he remains miserable. I think he'll realize this later on and confess, but still they won't end up together. They simply can't, too many things will hold them back. At the end, I think they'll settle with forgiving each other and letting go of their pasts to finally be happy. On the other hand, I also think Ji An won't end up with ahjusshi. They'll heal each other and become best of friends, moreso like siblings and then say goodbye to each other to travel their own paths and find true happiness on their own.
Elysa Bactol haha thanks for the support. This is the only story I can think of for all the characters to have justice, especially Gwang Il. I think they'll go to the "no person is truly bad, everyone have their reasons" path. It would be very sad if they won't give enough back-up for his actions.
l think gwang il was kind of pissed off than jealous. I'll clarify there is no love line between ji an and gwang il, it is just so impossible that the one you're abusing is your love.

I think in his own twisted way he does have feelings for her, but because of their history it makes it even more complicated. There is a thin line between love and hate & I think this is possible for him because he is such a twisted, dysfunctional being.
She is his obsession of sorts, not love. Abusing her helps keep his world just and sane. Seeing her smiling genuinely will hurt him. Its not romantic way that it'll hurt but it'll hurt him, mess up his peace of mind.

But what if even before Jian killed his father (defensively), he already liked Jian. When his dad died his feelings got messed up. He doesn’t know how to deal with it so he copes by making her life miserable because he hates himself for liking her, he hates the fact that she killed his father and he hates the fact that his father isn’t that good of a person too. Needless to say, It’s all messed up.
I really wish that they have a loveline.. Some people said that they have too much age gap but how about Gong Yoo and Kim Go Eun. They gave the strong feels like them that they want to ship them! 😂
Since Kwang Il hate Ji An, he doesn't want her happy. But at the same time he likes her. He doesn't want her settle her debt, he plan to keep her that way until she die. And now he is obviously jealous because Ji-An can smile in front of that ahjussi and never in front of him. Tbh his character is scary but cute in a different way 😂
