New subscriber...what a pleasure to see an articulate, woman content provider! I previously worked in the EMS field, am a member of edc community, currently retired on disability. Love your content. Keep up great work!
Welcome, Lurbais! It's so great to see another woman here... I feel like our gender invented the original EDC but now it's going on without us! Thank you for subscribing and talking about your background. And now i'm going to ask you a question because you are the 1st EMS provider that I've run into since I thought of this. I have a theory that people who carry an EDC knife or multitool are 30% more likely to start bystander CPR. What do you think?
@@thevineclimber hmmm what an interesting hypothesis. Is your data anecdotal or is there study data to support the 30% number? I'm not sure about it and would need to ponder on it a bit. My first reaction is that gender or education would be stronger factors, and maybe location (rural vs urban) but that's just a gut reaction. Would make for an interesting study.
Everyone should learn CPR, from a 14 year RN, and new subscriber. My daughter is getting her first Swiss Army knife for her 12th soon. Totally agree on the Hide and Drink name for such good looking products, just happened to see that side sheath today on Amazon.
I lost my huntsman so i decided to upgrade as a gift to myself. It was between the handyman and Swiss champ, but you’ve inspired me! Swiss champ it is lol. I realllly wish I could get a clip on it, and prettier scales but that won’t deter me lol
I'm sorry that you lost your knife. But what a great opportunity you have made from that loss! I have to admit, I do love my Swiss champ. The more I carry it and the more I use it, the more indispensable I find it to be. Everything else kind of feels like almost but not quite there. Even the tools that I thought were silly, such as I thought that the pliers were not that useful well. I use them all the time now. I hope you enjoy it a time! Also, it's not bad to change the scales. The problem is to get nice scales, you'll probably have to buy another knife with nice scales and then take them off, because only Heidi shop sells pretty scales, it seems.
Well😢..you did it Anne. You convinced me I couldn't live another minute without a Swiss Champ...how dare you 😅 Waiting patiently by the mailbox 📫 in my tent 🎪 for it. Should've paid for express shipping 😂 your videos are great. Glad to see your popularity grow!
Lol!! Space City, I sometimes read a comment, give it a heart, and then can't finish my reply and then I never see it again because it already has a heart. I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner!! I hope you ❤️ it so much!
That's great! Best news ever! The trick is keeping it on you so you can get the most out of it. :) I say that because I think that many women are tempted to stick it in their purse. Which is fine, but a lot of times it's not really that easy to get it out of there. You gotta put some effort into making it available. That's why I carried a Leatherman juice for like, a decade without hardly ever using it. Because it just wasn't available enough. I think I'm going to make a video about that. Thank you so much for telling me about your wife deciding to carry a Swiss Army knife! I feel like it's part of our heritage as women that we often overlook!
I use the a similar belt holster. As a maintenance technician I use the Swiss Champ daily. It has saved me so many trips back to the shop. I don't carry it every day but I always have a swiss army knife on me.
Yes! I love the Swiss champ because I am lazy. You are obviously not lazy but I am. When I see something that needs to be done if I have the tool on me I'm pretty likely to do it. But if I do not have the tool on me, I am pretty unlikely to do it. Lol I accidentally used the Phillips driver on some giant sized Torx screw yesterday and it worked!
The last 26 year the swiss champ is my main carrying knife,I carry the Swiss Champ as an EDC, for mountaineering, in the army, at work, etc.So far personally the best way to carry the swiss champ is using a sunspension pocket clip.Have a look in the victorinox hanger clip, this can adapt to your belt an the champ it can hang comfortably in your pocket.also.If you like the belt pouch option,is available a nite ize tool pouch with 360 belt clip,if the knife stay horizontally on your belt its more comfortably.I never seen before a girl to carrying the swiss champ, that's cool. Thanks Anne.
Nik!! Thank you. 😀 I also love the Swiss champ. It is good for so many things. Just now, my husband's boot had a place where the seam ripped open.I sewed it back closed but used the pliers to help the needle in the leather, and the magnifying glass to thread the needle, and the tweezers (when I dropped the needle on the cement and could not pick it up), and the scissors to cut the thread, and the Phillips to help push the needle through. I cannot wait to see that Nite Ize belt pouch. But my friend, if I may presume to call you that, while our taste in SAKs is the same, the... way our pants fit... is not. I love the suspension clip idea! Someday, maybe... :) Thank you!!
Im a man but i i like the first belt and horizontal case. Its going to look better on you than me. But my sister got me a swiss champ for Christmas 2023. I need a knife holster for it but after seeing your video it reminded me that I need a new belt also. I don't like the regular style nylon cases or the Velcro.
I still wear these all the time, and they look just great! I got the belt from the same company so the color would match. :) It looks great on everyone - this is the best holster for this product and will work for most people who aren't dressing for a place where a knife on a holster would be inappropriate! :) Congrats on your new gift! I know you will love it!!
You are amazing! I could listen to you all day. Looking forward to your other videos.I really like how you covered this topic so practical. I already ordered the side holster
@VineClimber Sie sind sehr gerne. For sure, Swisschamp it's the ultimate MT, under different perspectives. Thanks a lot for your channel, I wish you a great success.
The Hide and Drink holster looks great. Streamlined with your outfit well also. I was in a knife shop a couple of years ago. There was a younger woman working the counter there and she had a horizontal belt carry (small of back) for a fixed blade that looked awesome.
Ben that’s awesome! I think there is definitely a look that goes real well with these horizontal leather holsters. I personally quit small-of-back carrying anything years ago because it’s hard for me to access quickly or to see if you’re printing.
I have been carrying my champ 99% in my pocket with a lanyard since I was 12, I am 50 this year and my pants don't stay up as well nowadays LOL. I once saw a guy handmake a soft leather pouch to ride horizontally as a sheath using lambskin and made only using the SAK that he put in it. It only used a simple toggle to hold closed. I would love to try that myself.
I carry my Swiss Champ everyday in a leather knife sheath that I took a knife out of. I don't find the knife to be overly heavy or difficult to handle. In fact my Swiss Champ is my favorite of my 17 SAK's.
Anne, you are what inspired me to finally buy a Swiss Champ. Initially, it was just the holster and then "well I've *gotta* buy a Swiss Champ to put in there!" because my Huntsman was just a bit too slender. And then of course, I had to get the belt, too. As a treat!! Your videos are excellent, and I look forward to seeing you upload more!
That's so awesome. I'm really excited to hear that. I hope you love it as much as I do I get so much use out of it. I am always sad whenever I don't have it because I'm testing something else. I'm always running into things where I could have just used that 1 thing on the Swiss champ and I didn't have it with me. That's why I try to have it all the time!!
I love that belt holder you use, definitely gonna check that out! Thanks for sharing Anne 👌 A great video showing all the main options to carry a SAK, Atb Gus👍
I absolutely love the swiss champ. Started with the victoronox sheath, then went to the hide and drink, but recently found a horizontal sheath off Etsy like the Vic one but full leather with a button, it's been absolutely perfect 😊.
I love the idea of partitioning the pocket. Such an easy hack that anyone can do, even with clumsy sowing skills as is it is always hidden on the inside. I pocket EDC the slimmer (vs. Swiss Champ) SAKs like Huntsman and carry them in a thin self-made sheath to prevent unwanted scratches from keys and coins. I will immediately try partitioning my pocket as this will (1) make the knife stay vertical - less bulging and easier to take out, (2) eliminate the sheath making it even more compact and (3) protect it safe from scratches. Thanks for so many ideas, I am sure various people would find one or the other useful.
Thank you! Yes, that is my favorite hack because I've never seen it before, and it's almost free, and works with many different knives and multitools, and doesn't damage your tool!
When I used to carry a SwissChamp in my jeans pocket, I have noticed that the hard edge in the back of the wood saw tends to scratch the tissue with the movement and then the SwissChamp get full of dirt with those tissue fibers. I am curious if that does not happen with the pocket sewing hack you mentioned.
Hi! I got my Hide&Drink holster a couple of weeks ago. Thank you for the recommendation. The holster is great, it has been a while since I tried a product that is so comfortable, useful and affordable. I bought the brown/whiskey color one, I wished they made one also in black. Carrying the Swiss Champ is seamless, the style is just perfect.
Excellent video! I am a regular Swiss Champ carrier and was looking for something besides my bulky pocket organizer. The H&D looks like it will also become my go-to (and I agree, they need a better name). I like your video presentation style - down to earth and upbeat. Subscribed. 🙂
Well the bad part of it is it sold out shortly after? I made the video. And they haven't ever restocked it! I actually think I will give him a call today and see if they will please make some more.
Thanks for the video. I might try that Hide and Drink holster. I’m a guy so usually carry my Swiss Champ in the 5th/watch pocket of my jeans. I also have a leather slip (think oversize business card case) made to hold the Champ in a pocket vertically for when I’m not wearing jeans.
Oh that's nice! That kind of thing would not work with my pockets but I have been known to throw it in my back pocket when I'm just in the house. I sometimes feel a little bit guilty about the pocket lint but this knife has been through a lot more than pocket lint! That slip sounds interesting. Why doesn't it fall sideways? Is it wider than the knife?
I'm a dude and men's pants often have a watch pocket inside the right pocket. Depending on the brand the swiss champ or cyber tool fit perfectly. I carry my cyber tool in my watch pocket and don't notice it. I have a victorinox lanyard on it to aid with retrieval.
We could call it the Swiss army knife pocket! Lol my jeans have that pocket too. But it is not that useful, and if I put a 91 mm knife in there it pinches on my hip. Still that would be awesome, like a built- in holster!
So I finally pulled the trigger on a Swisschamp in black, it arrived this morning, and obviously I'm like a kid on Christmas morning. The thing is frikkin awesome as you know, I don't need to rant on about how good it is (just done that in the comments of JSPR EDC's vid lol). I'd already ''tested'' it for fit in 5th pockets, by putting 2 SAKs together (checked thicknesses were the same combined as the Champ), and yes it does fit nicely there and not in an uncomfortable way. That works for me so no need for pouches, but if that's the easiest way for you and others go for it! I would highly recommend the Swisschamp to anyone and it will be getting a lot of pocket time.
@@thevineclimber Wow thanks for answering Anne! It's brilliant and I'd highly recommend it to anyone unless they have tiny hands in which case it could be awkward. Thanks again & have a great day.
I use a nite eyes carabineer or a carabineer and hook through ring on knife and hook to belt loop, you can still put in pocket or let hang outside pocket and it works fine. Inside the pocket on carabineer it stays hanging and is still close .
That is an interesting way to carry it - women's pockets are often too closely fitted to make that possible, but hanging outside would work for me, too!
Well I hope you will... they are sold out at both Stockyard Exchange and Amazon. I think that is a problem with the way they source their porosity, although when you DO get one, you can feel good about supporting an artisan.
Thanks for the video, a lot of good options! The way I carry my Swiss Champ is lanyard with a small dog clip on it or an old conference neck name-tag with a clip on it. The lanyard had a loop on it with the clip at the end. Clip it onto the Swiss Champ keyring, loop the lanyard around your belt loop and into your front pocket. (Or can make the lanyard longer and loop it around your belt) This way the belt loop or belt takes the weight and the knife doesn't turn sideways in the pocket. Then when you want to use it, pull the lanyard, unclip it use it then put it back. Someone may have mentioned it, I'll just add my way to the list of ways to carry the Swiss Champ.
I love this option! I really hadn't understood before reading comments to this video that the weight of it in the pocket is the problem for many people. I don't feel the weight because usually my pockets just squish it into my body so it might as well be attached. This sounds like a very affordable way to move the weight to the belt. Thank you for sharing it! 😀
@@thevineclimber Thanks for your reply. There are some who are really into SAKs and won't go above 3 layers for the pocket, saying it is too heavy and bulky if above 4 layers! Most of the time the bulk and weight doesn't bother me at all. Most of these people who make these comments are guys! So I'm impressed with you as a lady carrying a Swiss Champ! Kudos to you!
I like the modified pocket idea, it would keep the scales from getting scratched, also I for one am not fond of pocket clips. I like lanyards with a small clip that let’s you remove the lanyard when it gets in the way of using a tool.
I have a few Hide&Drink products and I really like them, well made quality products and reasonably priced. I did not know that they made a horizontal knife pouch that would fit my SAK CHAMP so thank you for that! A little history on Hide&Drink, they started making leather flask cases for the aristocrats early on and then expanded to other products but that's where the name came from. It was not popular in some cultures to be carying a flask of alcohol so the name Hide&Drink was very appropriate.
I've done a similar pocket mod to the expansion folds on my cargo pants. I've hand stitched the pocket to the pants themselves under the fold where it isn't visible. The 'dual pocket' effect is very useful generally and allows a small fixed blade and sheath (think neck-knife) to live there quite comfortably.
Oh, nice! My EMS pants have a fantastic bunch of pockets on them - but I've not modified the cargo pockets of either those or my pants from the video. That's a good idea, and easily accomplished!
Horizontal carry for the Win ! SOG started me off with horizontal carry sheaths with my Paratool in 1997. There's no more comfortable way to belt carry a large tool 👍
Yes!!! I'm so glad to hear it! The more you use it the more uses you will have for it. It is like a SAK on crack. Hm, that would be a good video title if it didn't imply drug use. Anyhow, it is way the best IMO because it's good for stuff Every. Single. Day. Try using it to solve every little problem - you will discover so many things. Like the person who discovered that the fish scaler makes a good bread knife (Nic Gyver maybe?). Or Mezillch (I think) carrying a magnet inside the curve of the can opener. Once your brain gets used to going to it for answers, you will find that it brings you more answers than you thought possible! :) Or at least I did find that.
Thank you for you nice video. I did find a guy that also did modify the pockets of his pants to make sure to have his SAK in a comfortable way with him. Best regards René
Haven’t really had issues with carrying the Swiss champ. I am a man so most my pants have huge pockets where I can easily stash a champ. Before I got the champ, I thought they were huge but when I got it, I decided it’s not so outrageous to me after all. And I guess I consider that while i don’t conceal carry myself (yet), I know people who conceal carry a Glock 19 every day so a Swiss champ really doesn’t seem so big in comparison. That pocket sewing is a brilliant idea. I usually carry a smaller victorinox in my pocket with my phone next to it because the phone will keep it upright but if you have the pocket compartment, that’s not even a concern. Nice advice!
Thanks, N8! Yeah, I love that pocket mod! I just wish the pants looked a little cooler!! If I misplace the Swiss Champ, when I see it again, I'm always like, "it's not so big!!"
Great vid! I like to hang mine from a short tether to my belt/loop with the Swiss Champ hanging inside my front pocket. I know it seems silly to suspend it into a pocket instead of just letting it sit in the bottom of the pocket but it really does make a big difference. If its in the bottom of my pocket I feel its full weight all the time and its mildly annoying. If its suspended like this I hardly notice it all all. The pocket and belt share the load. I use a carabiner to attach to belt or loop so its very quick to retrieve. Though I'm a man which means theres plenty of room in the front pocket of all my shorts and pants so this might not work for everyone. Thanks for the vid, these are good ideas.
Thanks, Nathan! I actually think several people commented that they use this technique. Instead of thinking of it as "in the pocket but on a suspension from the belt", I think if it as suspended from the belt but not flopping around because it's controlled in the pocket. :) Thank you so much for commenting! It's always great to meet another fan of my favorite pocketknife! Anne
Great video thanks. Like the side carry belt option. I EDC carry my Handyman SAK in a small heavy duty cloth sheath from a dog choker chain that double over my belt so it hangs into my back pocket vertically. It is right next to my small leather wallet that hang into the same pocket with a different dog choker chain. Lucky I have bigger pocket in my pants then average men and I do not sit on the knife or wallet. It also can hang out and swing free if needed with out losing the knife or wallet. I also have the one inch thick Champion Plus SAK and the one inch thick Cybertool 34 SAK that I EDC carring the same way when I want more option replacing my Handyman SAK. This method would work well with the Swiss Champ SAK and be very secure too. Gives me the option of any one of my pockets to carry but hanging out of the way in the pocket. Plus I can mount to belt & also dangle carry from belt anytime I need extra room I'm my pockets.
That sounds like a really nice setup and one that I did not explore! Totally modular for any knife with a lanyard, I would guys... Thank you for sharing!
I've been looking for holsters. I'm a knife and firearms enthusiast. This will be my first ever Victorinox, VERY excited. Love them(mass marketing/production has under rated them) I thought about smaller but the Champ has too many tools that I would hate to be without. I also want to get into scale modeling so it pretty much has everything Hobby Lobby could nickel and dime you with anyway. Might as well have it compact and on my belt as my EDC(original intent anyway). Looks like Hide and Drink is the winner.
Oh, I'm so excited for you! The Swiss champ is the best because there are no tools you're really gonna be missing, probably. I kind of wish I had a Marlin spike sometimes, because they look cool, but the corkscrew does get knots out pretty well! And frankly, the little pliers is good for paracord knots, too. I still love this holster and use it all the time! It is my go-to. I'm so happy that since I made the video, they actually changed the Amazon listing to say it fits the Swiss champ!!!
I'm a PT that works in an outpatient clinic. I carry the Spartan or the Compact which aren't very big but I've actually considered modifying the pocket in my khakis so that it sits vertical at the side of the pocket, I just haven't done it yet. Maybe I should give it a shot🤔
Oh I think that's a great idea! It would be really great in scrub pockets (if you wear scrubs to work) - as long as you can find thread that looks right.
Yes! I think that those are actually very popular.I just don't have room in my pockets for it! Well, I can put it in my pocket but it really looks funny.
I just ordered a swiss champ ,I have a champion c .but I like the pliers. So I have a vertical leather holster from a less expensive multi tool that I don't think even have anymore. So it's my plan to us that.or at least try. I mostly stick something in my pocket, not always the champion. I'm not hood with carrying a multi tool. I mostly just go get what I need.but that is not good either. Lol .I'm a work in progress. Lol
Thanks. I just ordered the Hide and Drink holster. I usually carry either the Champion Plus (no longer made unfortunately) or the Ranger. Sometimes the Explorer. I've been using the Victorinox belt pouches, but I think I will like these better. If it gets too stretched out by the Champion I may have to order another one for the thinner knives.
Yes; I'm so happy they are back in stock!! Mine continues to be just perfect for the Swiss Champ. I ordered a backup just in case, because I literally cannot find anything else like this. It's the best!
I find this very interesting. When I bought my Swiss Champ, it came standard with the Full Monty black leather pouch, with a whole host of extra items in it. like a mini mag-light torch, sharpening stone, wire saw, compass, etc. For me, I find the pouch the best way to carry the SC. However, sometimes I just want to carry the knife on its own, so I attach a simple leather lanyard to a small key split-ring on the small attachment point on the knife, and hang it off my belt so the knife dangle inside my jeans pocket. Very simple. the lanyard has a snap hook so to get the knife off I don't have to take the whole lanyard off. Works very well.
Hi Dennis; thanks for your note! I have heard of a similar system from others... it won't work for me, but it seems quite handy! I love that you got that whole kit. I saw it for sale before, for like $250 or something! Very cool. I'm a teeny bit jealous.
@@thevineclimber Yeah, I guess it doesn't work for everyone. I just find it reduces the weight inside my jeans pocket and also reduces the wear and tear on the flimsy pocket material. My wife certainly approves as she doesn't have to replace pockets any more! The snap hook I use is quite small and I can unhook with one hand and retrieve the knife from the pocket, if needed. I use the same lanyard on all my SAKs. It's one of the things I dislike about my Leatherman - it has no attachment point to do this. Ideally I wear the full pouch for my Swiss Champ, and on occasion my Leatherman.
@@dennisleighton2812 - If you carry the Leatherman Wave, there is a slide out hidden lanyard by the saw blade tip. I actually removed the hidden lanyard and use the Leatherman kit with the removable pocket clip & removable lanyard clip together since you now have two attachment points. You just push the tool lock button on the Wave and the lanyard clip releases from your multi tool but the clip stays attached to lanyard which is attached to your belt and out of your way. Now you can use your pocket clip and lanyard clip at the same time. Having the Wave hang in my pocket from the lanyard gives me more room to get my big hands in my pocket and the pocket clip makes for convenient temporary holding of the tool.
@@kevola5739 Wow! I've carried my Leatherman for close to 35 years, and I never knew it ha that little lanyard clip! Thanks so much for pointing it out. Those days one didn't get a booklet and no UA-cam so I lived in ignorance cursing Leatherman! Thanks again, to you and UA-cam!
Olá! Admiro muito o seu trabalho. Parabéns. Você é muito simples e rápida, vai direto ao objetivo sem demora. Parabéns. Saudações do Rio de Janeiro - Brasil
Hi- Thanks for sharing. Would you please share with me the video you talk about the discussion of using a combination of swiss army knife for achieving the same function of a larger one.
The best way I have found to carry my Victorinox Handyman is a Ultratac deep carry pocket clip. Simply attaches to the split ring and discreetly clips on to the lip of my pocket. I also tried the Nite Ize HipClip that sticks to the side of the scales. This is another good opinion for slimmer SAKs but not ideal for the thicker versions like the Handyman and the SwissChamp. I appreciate your thoughts and videos. Keep it up!
Thanks, Kyle! Deep carry pocket clips interest me.I have actually been considering that I could carry a manager on there and get some reasonable functionality and actually have the thing in my pocket! (What that means is that if I buy the clip I also get to buy a manager! See how my logic works?) The Handyman is a lovely tool... I almost got one when they were on sale recently, but I just couldn't justify it given how much I'm already set up to carry the Champ.
@@thevineclimber you should give those clips a try. They hang the knife vertical off the bottom of the pocket and make it easy to pull the knife from the pocket. They don't get in the way when working the knife. I use them with my Rovyvon A8x as well to hang from my shirt. I also carry the Manager on my keychain for backup. Ever since I got the Handyman I almost never use it, so I am thinking about switching out the Manager for the Victorinox Nail Clip 580. The 580 would give me tools I don't have that I use all the time. I also thought about keeping the Manager and adding the stand alone keychain Victorinox nail clippers. I got the Handyman as I thought the SwissChamp might be too larger and bulky but after using the deep carry pocket clip, it disappears in my pocket. I should have gone with the SwissChamp for the extra couple of tools, knowing what I know now. I'm always back and forth about upgrading to the SwissChamp or Cybertool L / SwissChamp XLT (for the bit driver) but the cost I can't justify.
Oh what an interesting comment!! If you're talking about, I think it's the nail care 582,. I believe it is on the list to be discontinued by Victorinox or maybe as already having been discontinued by Victoria. I'd pick one up right away if you're interested in that period. I found them on Heidi shop for $20ish US: www.swiss-knife.com/en/victorinox-delemont-collection-nail-clip-582.html I think most of the cybertools have been discontinued as well. Women's pockets are typically so small. And even on the one pair of jeans I have that has like man sized pockets - it really looks ridiculous for me to have a large knife in there. I'm so glad you love the handyman. It's almost the same as the Champ! I'm going to get one of those clips. Thanks!
Just wanted to say that I loved this video and think you are super cool! Funny, smart and geeky commentary about one of my favorite items! Pure joy. Also, that horizontal carry 👌. Cheers!
Well your comment makes it clear that you, also, are super cool! I'm sad though because they no longer seem to have the horizontal holster for the Swiss champ at Stockyard Exchange or on Amazon!!
@@thevineclimber Luckily CEO just stepped down :D Hope they bring back sort by old, dislike button, fix search (what are those suggestions on search?!) and add some search function when you add videos to playlists (or at the bare minimum an alphabetical sort) :D
Wish that scout carry holster came in black leather. Sweet design tho. Affordable enough you could buy a couple for left and right draws. Would buy in a heartbeat ):
No; I didn't make it, either! This may be controversial in some circles, but that is actually a piece of an Orthodox prayer rope. My dog chewed my prayer rope and so I cut a piece off and put it on my lanyard. It should be treated with respect, but I thought that once it had already been chewed it was better to be with me and be used; kind of like an extra EDC functionality! There are videos on how to your the extremely complicated knots in an Orthodox prayer rope, but I do not think you will find the effort worth it for a lanyard.
I did enjoy the video and all the options that you showed. I actually have the Swiss Champ and carry it on the holster delivered with the Amazon 8 in 1 multi tool (which by the way is great for the price)
I love that plan! And then you get a multi tool to stash in the car. In case you forget? Your. Swiss champ one day. I think you mean this one - only $15! Check this out! a.co/d/emGHFEW
Yes, that is the one I mean. I paid less than 10 euros, and although the functions are not too many, the quality is great. And at that price, I actually bought two 😅
I have the same Chums! I have a few H&D products..pretty good so far..pretty cool pocket trick..I use cargos with a similar pocket in Nursing that I actually put my XShears and case in..very cool video!
My favorite way to solve this is with a lanyard, that is attached to or under the belt (I've used Monkeys fist in the past) so that the knife is suspended and hanging down in the pocket. Currently I use a Casstöm belt carabiner though. It is so far the most convenient solution since its a very good carabiner that I can manipulate with one hand. However it looks a little too bulky and Bushcrafty for EDC.
Really like your videos on SAK. I tried to look for that belt pouch on Hide and Drink but could not find Amazon. Please tell the exact way you looked up and what name of pouch you used. I searched knife, tool, and horizontal belt pouch and nothing showed it on Amazon. Please list how you found it for that pouch for the Swisschamp
It looks like they are sold out again! The description has links to both the Amazon link and the stockyard exchange. I put the stockyard exchange link below. Because It takes too much time to write all the disclaimers about the Amazon link being an affiliate link! stockyardexchange.com/products/horizontal-knife-holster?_pos=3&_sid=988cd5d6e&_ss=r Thank you so much for your nice comment. I appreciate it and I'm sorry that they ran out of the holster again.
that's nice but... I usually don't wear a belt most of my clothes don't have belt loops and anything fits in my bags I usually carry a Victorinox Deluxe Tinker got my Dad's old Swiss Champ and it is HUGE!
Yes you have a very good point ! and that holster is for a 1.5 inch belt. A Deluxe Tinker is a big knife, still! I love my Super Tinker. The smallest I could go and feel comfortable is a sportsman. Does it bother you to have to go in your bag for your tools? Like, they aren't immediately available enough?
A ja wlasnie dzis zamowilem swojego Swiss Champ. U mnie w kraju 100 dolarów, ale jestem pewien ,ze warty tych pieniedzy. Mam troche scyzorykow Victorinox, ale ten zastapi mi w codziennym edc wszystko. Pozdrowienia Anno z Polski.
Oh, I am so excited for you! I really love it so much. Over time, you will find more and more unexpected things you can use it for! For example, I use the fish scaler to adjust a particular watch band. I hope you enjoy it more and more! Thank you for sending a message from Polamd!
Well thanks, I did not say anything important though. I have the Swiss Champ but I use a generic sheath that fits it well. I do not find it heavy at all. The only one thing I changed were the scales, installing a pair of translucent ones in blue. And a little bit of tinder around the corkscrew. But I kept the mini screwdriver.
Going to add another comment that I just purchased the UltraTac Deep Carry Keychain Pocket Clip Nano (now there's a fancy product name!) and now I carry my SC in the front pocket. The clip suspends it and keeps it on my hip.
Lol I have thought of getting that many times. I could use it is I am using certain pants. But I'm too lazy! I know I'll just leave it on all the time!!
I use paracord loops. Attach loop to belt loop use nite ize minibiner to clip knife to cord then drop in pocket. Adj. So that it doesnt touch bottom. All the weight is born by the belt loop. With my SAK Explorer i cant even feel it. Doesnt work with small pockets but dickies are perfect.
Do you have info of the model for the swiss champ holder and the belt. I see alot different items but want to get that one because you have tried it out. If you don't mind.
I was looking for a way to carry my handyman more conveniently. The pocket modification seems like a very cool idea I'd like to try. Any idea which pouch should I try for the 6 layered 91mm Handyman. (It's basically a Swiss champ less 2 layers)
Ok found it! www.knifecenter.com/item/VN4109917/victorinox-swiss-army-33210-extra-large-zermatt-pouch-brown-leather. At least it will work according to their website.
So Anne I purchased that leather belt holster from Hide & Drink and it's great 👍 but I can see it stretching out over time 😮 Have you experienced this? Any idea on a way to shrink it back from time to time so it doesn't lose it's tauntness???
Hm that is a good question. It holds my Swiss champ perfectly still, and I've been using it consistently since about a month before that video. How to shrink it back if it stretches.... I do not have any idea. That's a great topic for a video. I wonder if someone has already done it... Thank you for the question!!
Happy Friday Anne, thanks for the new video & congratulations, justa 3 days ago on March 1st 2023 I subscribed to your channel & became subscriber no: 149, today Friday 3rd March 2023 you have 179 subscribers, that is an amazing increase of 30 new subscribers in a mere 3 days! I am sure if this momentum continues you will easily reach 1K subscribers well before the end of 2023! As for the Swiss Champ I don't own one, looked it over at my local Victorinox dealer a few years back, IMO its too big to be comfortably carried, it has too many tools that I will never use & I much prefer a combination of 2 tools to work on something such as SAK with pliers to grip a nut or a bolt head whilst I screw/unscrew it with a 2nd SAK. ATB Steve in Tel Aviv.
Hi Steve - that's another thing I have been waiting for some one to comment on. It does seem like in real life I often need 2 tools at once! Yes, I am very happy but also a little confused about all these subscribers - I do work pretty hard on these videos, but I haven't even made a thumbnail image yet, and it all seems very unprofessional. I don't think I really even intended to stick with this name but now I probably will... The Swiss Champ is amazing, but it IS big. I really dislike carrying tools I don't use, also. Thank you for the encouraging note!
@@thevineclimber Hello again Anne, IMO the subscribers are joining because you project a very warm down to earth personality, respond to your readers & are not standoffish or condescending, make interesting videos on regular SAK's that the average Joe actually carries & not special or expensive items that most can't afford and yes the number of ladies who have knife and for that matter have gun channels, is very small so to find a lady who knows her stuff is like breath of fresh because quite frankly some of the longtime so called knife guys on YT are boring click bait artists & I avoid those sort of channels. Regarding needing 2 tools at once, that is the way things get done in the real world. I have a box of SAK's on my desk at home (on which my laptop sits) that I call my "Home Tool Kit" Yes I do have large regular tools like an electric drill, electric screwdriver, hammer, wrenches, chisel, metal saw etc in the cupboard but my SAK Home Tool Kit is what I reach for when I need to see to those little fiddly diddly tasks. It consists of a number of SAK's that I do not normally EDC, at the moment they are:- the 91mm Cybertool M, the 91mm Delux Tinker, the 85mm Wenger Tradesman, the 85mm Swiss Buck (Wenger) Taskmate 1, the 91mm Mountaineer (for its metal saw until one day I've got the cash to buy a new Handyman - gifted my old one to a friend), a 93mm Swiss Army 1 & the 84mm Watch Case Opener. This little group of SAK's I use for lots of small tasks around my apartment & I find it much more practical to use a combination of tools than just one large cumbersome tool like the Swiss Champ.
That is really helpful and kind; thank you! Your list is interesting. I SO want a watch case opener, but my only watch I will keep has a screw back. 😕 Do you use yours on things other than watches?
@@thevineclimber Happy Saturday Anne, I use mine to pop open the scales on my SAK's, its much safer than using a blade or a small screw driver. I am a fan of Plus scales & changing the boring red scales that are the default scale color on many SAK's to other colors such as Silver Tech & Cammo scales.
Thank you, Steve! Excuse achieved! I just got some new scales that I'm looking forward to putting on some knives. I am going to have a green Rambler, and I think that the Swiss champ might become blue. But then I feel kind of bad because the red is so iconic how can you not like it? But of course we all do like the red but every knife doesn't have to be red.
You sold me, today I ordered the belt the holster and my first (and always wanted) Swiss Champ. I can't wait for Saturday. 🤗❤
Yes!!!! That is so exciting!! I love mine so much - and the more you use it the more you use it!! And the more you love it!
You were so clever with that pocket sewing thing. I'm going to do that to almost all of my pockets👍😃 Greetings from Finland also🇫🇮
Oh I'm so glad to hear that! I hope it works out well! Thank you! Greetings from the US!
I've been looking for a horizontal carry holster and have come up short. You nailed it. Great find. Thanks for the video!
Great! Yeah, I love this holster, too! 😀
Thanks for the tips.
Absolutely - thanks for the comment!!
Nope! Not even anecdotal, really. Just seems like the personality types may match. We will probably never know! Thanks for answering...
Thanks for posting, you inspired my wife to carry a SAK...
@@thevineclimber my wife ordered a couple of SAK's so Amazon can't get here fast enough, she has the bug...lol
Thank you so much.
You are amazing! I could listen to you all day. Looking forward to your other videos.I really like how you covered this topic so practical. I already ordered the side holster
Great video!
3 decades carrying a Swisschamp as a EDC, 50% in holsters, other 50% in pockets.
Regards from Germany
Danke schön! I'm so happy to hear that! ☺️ It makes you feel like you can handle anything.
@VineClimber
Sie sind sehr gerne.
I personally quit small-of-back carrying anything years ago because it’s hard for me to access quickly or to see if you’re printing.
an excellent suggestion! thanks!
Thanks for sharing Anne 👌
A great video showing all the main options to carry a SAK,
Atb Gus👍
Thanks, Gus! 😀
I absolutely love the swiss champ. Started with the victoronox sheath, then went to the hide and drink, but recently found a horizontal sheath off Etsy like the Vic one but full leather with a button, it's been absolutely perfect 😊.
Awesome! The champ is amazing. Thanks for the tip!
Great find! I just got mine on Amazon for around $10 and really like the horizontal carry- works great! Thanks!🎉
Yeah, I agree, it's a great find!! I'm so glad you like it!! Thanks for the comment!
Oh it's in black now, too? Great! I'll get one of those!! I'm so happy it worked out for you. :) I am very pleased with mine., too.
Excellent video! I am a regular Swiss Champ carrier and was looking for something besides my bulky pocket organizer. The H&D looks like it will also become my go-to (and I agree, they need a better name). I like your video presentation style - down to earth and upbeat. Subscribed. 🙂
Belt pouch is awesome! Excellent idea. Thank you
Well the bad part of it is it sold out shortly after? I made the video. And they haven't ever restocked it! I actually think I will give him a call today and see if they will please make some more.
First I used the pocket clip from a measuring tape for years!
I love my Swiss Champ knives!!! I carry it in my pocket, but I might get the Chums wallet and belt holder for my edc & survival kits.
This holster went out of stock shortly after the video. Doesn't seem to be back in stock yet. :( I've been looking for a replacement since then!
Thank you so much for coming by to tell us! Isn't it great? It feels like it can do everything! It's like carrying a superpower with you!
@@thevineclimber Wow thanks for answering Anne! It's brilliant and I'd highly recommend it to anyone unless they have tiny hands in which case it could be awkward. Thanks again & have a great day.
You too!
Great Video and Content! I love the fact that a woman is interested in EDC thank you for sharing!
Lol I think that women invented EDC but we just call it - our purse.
Wow very cool Video thanks for this clever ideas 👍👍👍 Big thanks from Germany
Danke schön! So glad you liked the video! :)
I carry my swisschamp in a generic leatherman sheath like for a wave or something and it works great.
It’s a fantastic idea to modify the pocket. Thank you!
Oh thank you so much for commenting on that! I was really proud of that paradigm shift. :)
That hide and drink holster is absolutely perfect 👌. Will be getting one
Well I hope you will... they are sold out at both Stockyard Exchange and Amazon. I think that is a problem with the way they source their porosity, although when you DO get one, you can feel good about supporting an artisan.
Thanks again Ann! This works so well I forget it's there. I skip one belt loop on my right side for a kidney carry.
Great big thanks for this video, many good ideas on how to carry the Swisschamp. I will try out that horizontal carry holster for sure!
I think it's still in stock now! it was out of stock for such a long time. Really Glas you got something out of the video!
I ise a leather belt pouch. Works for me next to a Sofrim torch in a pouch.
Nice!! Love to have all the tools together. Thanks for commenting!
I like the modified pocket idea, it would keep the scales from getting scratched,
also I for one am not fond of pocket clips. I like lanyards with a small clip that
let’s you remove the lanyard when it gets in the way of using a tool.
Hitch, that is a great idea - do you have a link to a clip that works well? My lanyard gets in the way a lot.
@@thevineclimber Sorry UA-cam keeps taking down my link , it is similar to the clip you mention below
Weird. YT sometimes allows links and sometimes not, I guess. Thanks!
Tx for update...
Love that horizonal Holster.
They sold out of them!! Thanks for watching and commenting!
The Chums is my wallet of choice but I carry a smaller Nextools Mini Flagship.
I love the Chums still!
I just ordered the horizontal belt pouch from your link. Looks like a great recommendation!
I have it on right now. Patinas nicely! I really love it., because I do not feel it at all!
I hope you love it!
The prayer rope as a lanyard is a great idea. God bless you from Ohio. Christ has risen!☦
I totally agree, and it works on note body types, too. And it looks better. Why is this not more of a thing?
Got a Swiss Champ for Christmas! Love it
Best regards
René
I'm glad I'm not the only one! It's easy and gets you just what you want. Thanks, René!
Nice to see a good video from a proper woman. Well done.
Thank you. I'm not sure I know what that means, but I'm going to take it as a compliment!
Thank you so much for commenting!
Great information Champ is a bit bulky have it on my pants pocket some woman think Im happy to see them.
And if you want them to be happy to see you, maybe you should get yourself a belt holster!
@thevineclimber yes it has all the tools. Leathermans don't have fero rod options, pens or files all in one.
There are these pocket clips that you hang on the ring!
They work like a charm for pocket carry!
Yes! I think that those are actually very popular.I just don't have room in my pockets for it! Well, I can put it in my pocket but it really looks funny.
It stays vertical on the right side of the pocket!
Not laying down on the bottom of the pocket like a dick!😂😂👍
@isidrorosa ROFL I cannot believe YT didn't censor that!
I am sorry!
I didn't meant to be rude!😂
But it is true!
Not even a man likes that!
@isidrorosa LOL that is so funny!! It is a very factual sentence, though, and facts cannot be rude. They are just facts!! 🤣
Thanks for sharing! Just ordered some Hide and Drink stuff from Stockyard Exchange. A new belt, knife holster, and a key cover. 👍
Awesome! I got mine on Amazon, but that site looks good - I listed it so people could have a choice. Let us know how it goes!
@@thevineclimber Will do!
Lol
Excellent video. Loved the spot about the pockets. Never thought it this way. Lmao😂😂😂. Keep on rocking girl👋👋👋
Cool thanks!! 😀 Thanks for watching and commenting, too!
That's a nice sheath option
Your swiss champ horizontal leather pouch is very cool~^^
Thank you! I am happy that they seem to have come back in stock!
Instead of Vic's velcro pouch I prefer the button pouches from Leatherman. The SwissChamp perfectly fits
They have a button on them? That sounds good! I'll look for one!
Great idea to "hack" the pants to fit the SAK. cheers from Italy
Thanks!! That was one of my favorites!!
Cool just been keeping mine in the watch pocket 😎
That would be awesome. Best way to carry it if you can!
@@dennisleighton2812 -Happy to be of service.
Anne, I enjoy your videos - keep em coming!!!
Glad you like them! I'll do my best - thanks!
That's snazzy. I have the victorinox belt clip and hang my SC inside the top of my pocket.
I've seen that! Looks very convenient and never gets in the way!
Olá! Admiro muito o seu trabalho. Parabéns. Você é muito simples e rápida, vai direto ao objetivo sem demora. Parabéns. Saudações do Rio de Janeiro - Brasil
Thank you! I took a vacation from getting to the point, but I am back to it. I do not think I an chatty by nature.
See how my logic works?)
The Handyman is a lovely tool...
I found them on Heidi shop for $20ish US: www.swiss-knife.com/en/victorinox-delemont-collection-nail-clip-582.html
I think most of the cybertools have been discontinued as well.
@@thevineclimber Found some on Etsy. Can't link to anything as UA-cam keeps deleting my replies though :(
Ack! This social networking site needs some work!!!
@@thevineclimber Luckily CEO just stepped down :D Hope they bring back sort by old, dislike button, fix search (what are those suggestions on search?!) and add some search function when you add videos to playlists (or at the bare minimum an alphabetical sort) :D
Sounds like you should apply for the job. Those are good ideas! Lol believe me, the dislike button is there, though...
Great video, grabbed that horizontal pouch based on this review. Thanks!
Which model was it, do you have a link please? They have a bunch of different products on their site.
@@josephfarrugia2350
It is made by Hide and Drink, on the stockyard exchange website. I used the link in her description.
Wish that scout carry holster came in black leather. Sweet design tho. Affordable enough you could buy a couple for left and right draws. Would buy in a heartbeat ):
I know, right? I emailed the company to see if they would make more, because they are totally sold out!
Do you have a video on how you made that lanyard on your Swiss champ?
And at that price, I actually bought two 😅
@Dom Xem lol it's good to have a backup or a gift ready to go!
Great review, nice sheath!
I use Jon Gadget’s KeySmart/Compact setup. Works great. Do you think a KeySmart clip could hold a SwissChamp?
Hi Nick! The KeySmart/Compact setup proposed by Jon Gadget is an absolute game-changer for some, IMO.
I have the same Chums! I have a few H&D products..pretty good so far..pretty cool pocket trick..I use cargos with a similar pocket in Nursing that I actually put my XShears and case in..very cool video!
That cross draw sheath is cool tho..like a SAK gunslinger!
Well I'd really have to work to get a cross draw on it. If that were a gun I'd shoot myself in the hand. Got to kinda push it out from the back!
@@thevineclimber lol
My favorite way to solve this is with a lanyard, that is attached to or under the belt (I've used Monkeys fist in the past) so that the knife is suspended and hanging down in the pocket. Currently I use a Casstöm belt carabiner though. It is so far the most convenient solution since its a very good carabiner that I can manipulate with one hand. However it looks a little too bulky and Bushcrafty for EDC.
I was able to look those up - looks really cool! But you are right - probably not for everyone's EDC style.

Thank you so much for your nice comment. I appreciate it and I'm sorry that they ran out of the holster again.
that's nice but...
I usually don't wear a belt
most of my clothes don't have belt loops
and anything fits in my bags
I usually carry a Victorinox Deluxe Tinker
got my Dad's old Swiss Champ and it is HUGE!
I LOVE MY CHAMP AND USE IT MANY TIMES EVERYDAY , BEST COMPANION KNIFE EVER. LOVE IT!!!
I know, right? It helps me with everything. In my heart it is part tool and part BFF!
Great video!
Thank you!! Great comment! :)
Where can I get it in Europe??
5th pocket
That is really the best solution if you can make it work! Thanks!!
Very nice
Thanks!
Definitely more pocketable with a key-dangler. Thanks for the content! Oh.. also in a sling :) #teamSling
Oh yeah! Slings are the way of the future I think.
Great video! You seem thoughtful and charming, totally hooked me! :)
Wow. Totally worth the watch. I'm going to modify all my pockets now...that's such a great "think outside the box" idea.
Wow that's awesome; thanks!!!
Thanks for sharing Ann(e)!
Hey William! Thank you for stopping by!

Hmmm, yes might make a good topic. I'm not sure. I know if leather gets wet and then dries it shrinks or so I've heard.🤔
But of course we all do like the red but every knife doesn't have to be red.
cool! i love the swiss champ. i use a cybertool lite. looking for a way to carry it
Oh, they're the same size! I hope you found something that works for you. Thanks for watching, and for the comment!
