🔥🔥 Such a super talented band. Drummer and guitarist prodigies recognised for their talent before the age of 10. Drummer Kanade and guitarist Lisa-X Hazuki also Nemophila Guitarist And Kotono previously from IronBunny Kanade is from a Jazz fusion band, Muses. Awesome band. They need more followers! Here's hoping this track's backing bassist, Wakazaemon, joins them too, she's another super talented young bassist, toured with Marty Friedman as his bassist too. She's from another super band East of Eden.
I'd have to say all the talent in Japan. So many great rock/metal bands I've discovered from there. I just discovered another one today - FRUITPOCHETTE (unfortunately they went on hiatus April of this year)
Props to Wakazaemon (not seen in the vid) who is rapidly becoming one of my favorite bass players. You have two child prodigies in this band Lisa X (of course) and the incredible Kanade Sato on drums. Great reaction guys.
It's not "a" school in Japan. It is every school in Japan. Music education is mandatory in Japan. Everyone studies music from age five or six until age fifteen. They can then continue their music education throughout high school and into college if they want. The high schools also have music venues where musicians and singers can perform in front of an audience. By the time they graduate high school, they are highly trained and experienced performers. And it's not just rock music. Japanese pop, jazz, blues, and classical music are all state-of-the-art.
Second time I've heard this song. The drums really stood out for me this time. Kanade Sato is a ridiculous jazz fusion drummer, so this is child's play for her. So much talent in this band and they are all young. I look forward to seeing where they go. Another great reaction you two. Thanks.
In Japan most children start to learn about music at four years old and start to play, usually piano or violin. Then as they progress they take on other instruments such brass- trumpet or trombone. I guess that their parents hope that they will become the next Land Lang etc, but young ladies being modern young ladies they have discovered rock and jazz and start to play that in stead. Let's face it a lot of metal music is very orchestral and so it transfers easily.
I do not what is in the water but I am glad it is! I feel like i am being brought back in time to the music I grew up loving. Love this song and love the band.
There is seaweed in the water and they use it to wrap sushi and put into soups and salads. Oh yeah, there's fish in the water and they eat it raw and also cooked in many marvelous ways.
This is an entire band of good members, so it’s really not just about guitars. What got my attention the most here, is the drums and good songwriting. It does have some Li-sa-X guitar shredding, but it also has a nice jazz flavor with syncopated drumming parts and Wakazaemon’s bass. I think Kotono adds to the feels too. Everything has its moment, and it all comes together nicely IMO. I like Koiai, but I need to hear their upcoming songs to know what things will be like with them (because they seem to be evolving). Because ‘Come See Me’ will appear on their upcoming EP, I’m hoping it represents how good that EP will be.
This band has a unique mix of sound. Certainly a band with talented musicians. Info - Formed in December 2022. Two of Japan's leading young female shredders Li-sa-X and Hazuki who lost their singer in the previous Li-sa-X BAND met singer Kotono with roots in pop and dance music. The three of them collaborated on a cover of Polyphia's "ABC" on UA-cam and saw so much potential in each other that they decided to form a band. KOIAI has two meanings in Japanese: dark indigo and deep love. If you want another band that is very talented to listen to - ASTERISM - Church (Live in Studio)
And Kanade is to drums as Lisa X is to guitar ... you should check (don't have to react to) her channel. First clip I seen of hers was when her and a school friend walked into a shopping centre where there was a drum kit waiting. Crowd thought she was just a kid muckin around .... and then she played. At the time, I think she was 11 years old. It will blow you away.
Can only like, since I'm already subscribed. Koiai has been one of my favorite discoveries in the last few years. Some more Koiai suggestions for you to dig into: One Way or Another (live version please), Straight To My Heart. Please add Asterism and their instrumental Dawn to your list too.
Great sound - very nice vocals and the guitar reminds me of the sound Polyphia used when they played on Babymetal's Brand New Day. Don't know how Hazuki finds the time to play as part of Koiai while she is also now the sole guitarist for Nemophila. That's a lot of guitar practice and playing. But then she's female and Japanese so ridiculous energy levels and supreme musicianship seems to be the norm over there.
I like your reactions. this is a supergroup, they all have other bands and projects. wakazaemon, who plays the bass, doesn´t appear in this viedeo. she´s in the marty friedman band and is also on the band east of eden. I recommend highly to check their song "evolve". you won´t be dissappionted.
I just watched your HAGANE " Tenga Goken reaction. JUNNA the drummer joined the band in April 2024 as did Nagi the vocalist. JUNNA 6 hours ago dropped her own video of this song with her playing the drums in her studio which will blow your mind. Just visit JUNNA youtube channel. JUNNA & Haruna are my favourite Japanese drummers.
Yes, both Lisa-X and Hazuki play Ibanez guitars; both are official endorsers and have made Ibanez product videos. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see full-on signature models for both of them soon. It took Ibanez, a Japanese company, forever to finally release a signature model for a Japanese player (the magnificent Ichika Nito), but now the floodgates have opened! It's interesting, in fact, to note how many Japanese female players have signature model guitars now: Miyako Watanabe (Lovebites) Dean "MYK" vlying V, Toki (Aldious) ESP "Rock 'n Chunpa," Saki (ex-Nemophila) Killer "Fascinator: The Empress," Sakura Yoshida (Hagane) Kino Factory "VYSK" flying V and "Sakura Stay" (I have the latter!), Haruka "HAL-CA" Noma (Asterism) ESP Snapper HAL-CA Custom..
to echo a comment below - too bad wakazaemon isn't in the video. i put her in the class of bassists misa , f chopper koga , fami and a couple of others that my old brain can't remember right now. other than miho who might not play speedy and lead like riffs like others do but can hold it down with the best of them
Yes, it's Lisa-X's band. I left this info on your first reaction, but I'm going to post it again so you have all the background: Lisa-X has been posting music on youtube since she was seven, did credible covers of Dream Theater and Polyphia at 10, and has had her own band since she was 13. The core members of Lisa-X band were Lisa-X, Rina on vocals and Hazuki, formerly of Disqualia and now the lead guitarist for Nemophila, on co-lead guitar. Here she is doing a playthrough with Hazuki on “Just Be My Treasure”: ua-cam.com/video/mN_oLqTka6M/v-deo.html “One More Chance Is Enough” with Billy Sheehan (!) on bass (Sheehan is on the consensus short list of candidates for best rock bassist in the world). ua-cam.com/video/PzsqmnEa89c/v-deo.html Rina left the band in 2022 and they took a hiatus to rebuild. They re-emerged as Koiai, and can legitimately claim to be a supergroup. Kotono joined them after stints with various groups including Ironbunny and a previous collaboration with Lisa-X. The big catch was Kanade Sato on drums. Sato is also a member of Muses and is in big demand as a session drummer. She is often compared with the already legendary Senri Kawaguchi. Wakazaemon has been appearing as a guest on bass. She frequently tours with Marty Friedman and is also a member of East of Eden. Here are two more links worth checking out. The first one is Lisa’s 2017 appearance at the annual female rock festival organized by Show-Ya-she is up there with some of the best guitarists in the world and they clearly love sharing the stage with her. The second one is her collaboration with the even younger drum phenom, Yoyoka Soma, who is herself a force of nature. The future looks great!
@@evilvolts Absolutely not. Nemophila are not only continuing as a quartet (I have a ticket to a Sapporo show on their next tour), they recently released one of their very best songs ever: G.O.D. A lot of Japanese pro musicians have multiple projects (as we musicians anywhere have had to adapt to the soul-crushing reality of trying to make a living at music in post-filesharing era). The bassist on this track (and their recent live performances) is Wakazaemon. She's not an official member of KOIAI (or of Marty Friedman's band, one of her other frequent gigs), but IS a member of East of Eden.
On LOVEBITES channel "Where's Identity" on Lovebites II playlist under released is so amazing as metal as Soldier Stands Solidarily there's where all 5 new songs are the only one's with MV's are Unchained and Soul Defender ]:)

Greatest band! Lisa X is incredible. This song makes me fly 👍
The amount of musicianship in this band is incredible! The song itself has a very interesting harmonic and rhythmic structure.
Talent and class show through, marvelous track. Thanks for the reaction.
💖
It's not fair how much talent is in this band. I love them all. And I'm glad you liked it, too. ❤
It Rocked! Thanks for sending it our way!

Well, shoot. I never heard of them before. Thanks Will! Time to go on a musical historical tour of them.

Fantastic track. Kotono's dreamy vocals fit perfectly.

Can't really tell from image size, but a lot of Asian bands rock Ibanez.

This band has more potential and talent than any band out there. But they need to drop the pop and embrace their prog metal side.
