Kanade Sato (drums) - child prodigy, genius, freak on the drums (she comes from Fusion Jazz) Hazuki (g on left) - member Nemophila, awesome guitarist, metal shredder. Wakazaemon (bass) - guest bass. Freak on the bass (member Marty Friedman band on tour), renown session musician. She can also play double bass. Kotono (vocal) - former vocal of Ironbunny and former back dancer Babymetal.
Lisa-X, Hazuki and Kanade I know. They are all top notch musicians. It was a long time since I heard Kanade. I remember her as a totally bad ass prodigy. I have also seen later things by her and she is scary good. Lisa-X is a shredder. And Hazuki is also guitar monster (and play for Nemophila of course).
I really appreciate you commenting on the video itself as well how cool the song is. I'm the one who edited this, as well as one of the camera shooters in the pit and coordinated the whole video production. The fact that you noticed and mentioned that really means a lot to me. Thank you.
Both Li-sa-x on the right guitar and Kanade Sato (drums) were considered prodigies from early on, and got a lot of exposure from early on. Especially Li-sa-X who was on "Ellen"(??) years back. Hazuki (glasses) we already know from Nemophila. Usually Li-sa-Xs brother does some studio work for them, but since it was live, they invited Wakazaemon (East of Eden, Marty Friedman(x-Megadeth)). Yeah you can in all regards call it a supergroup.
Li-sa-x Is just so amazing, She learned how to play guitar so young, and she developed high dexterity methods of overcoming some of the most difficult tasks on the fretboard, she has trained to be an amazing guitarist from a very young age. Seriously, she can do anything. She played Scarified by Racer X at age 8, she got the attention of Paul Gilbert, and he offered her a free pass to become a student at his guitar school. Lisa X eats fretboards for breakfast. The former arrangement was called Lisa X Band, they released 2 Music videos and 2 play through videos, but the singer could no longer perform and left the band, so Hazuki & Lisa X recruited Kotono, the blonde vocalist and that's when Koiai started. Since then, they have released 2 EPs and one Blu-ray, added the drummer seen in this video and have played live in India, The Bassist in the video is not an official member of the band due to her other commitments but is a fan favorite with the band. Guitarist Left side of the screen is Hazuki from Nemophila another popular Japanese Metal Band, but she has been with Lisa X longer than Nemophila. They have not made a lot of MV on the current line-up, but there is at least another live video that you can check out ua-cam.com/video/nQOhmO7Af2I/v-deo.html called one way or another. Lisa-X is incredible and Hazuki is well, Hazuki. An incredible amount of talent in Japan. I have my favorites, but seriously you could put 4-5 names in a hat and pull out a talented band easily. One of many things I like about the female musicians in Japan is that they are highly supportive of each other. They do side projects together, they hang out and they attend each others concerts. No egos, no competition..everyone's success is important.
Hazuki (glasses) and Lisa-x use 7 strings guitars. Hazuki is a Ibanez artist(aka the Shrerding libirian). Hazuki is in NEMOPHILA. Kotono the singer was in IRON BUNNY band.
Some will tell you that KOAI is only good when in shred mode, but I happen to love their pop/rock sound too. Try “One Way or Another” “Make You Regret” for examples.
KOIAI is now the new name of the Li-Sa-X band. Their previous singer left the industry to move to Korea and to get married. Lisa-X (guitarist on the right) is a child prodigy and at 8 years old, she was covering Racer-X songs on UA-cam, worth a watch on her personal channel. She also has a compilation with some of her accomplishments during the years and she is only 19 years old and still learning
@@notwokevikingrules401 Yeah.. I believe after it Paul Gilbert (Racer-X/Mr. Big) gave her a free course on his on-line guitar.lesson site. I'm excited and thrilled for LiSa. It will be interesting to see how they settle on a bassist. I really hope LiSa can find a 'style' that suits her and settles into a recognizable genre that fans can get behind. She is so naturally gifted that she needs to be heard by a lot of people. I really love the Heavy Metal feel of the beginning of this song, and turning Koiai into a versatile Metal band with the following she deserves would be great.
Guitar - right of stage - Lisa-X, who started as an internet sensation at age 7, and is now 18 or maybe 19 now. She's insane. The other guitarist is Hazuki from Nemophila!!!! Also, don't sleep on the drummer (Kanade - another internet sensation) and on bass is Wakazaemon (who plays in East of Eden - i just recommended them to you) who also plays with Marty Friedman (ex-Megadeth - so she's probably about as good as it gets)! She's incredible.
As I'm sure a lot of commentors have told you Lisa-X was a child prodigy but what you may not know is Paul Gilbert volunteered to become her instructor after Paul saw her flawlessly cover Racer X's "Scarified", as an 8 year old. Paul is actually really popular in Japan from Racer-X and Mr Big, which have a huge followings there, and he also hosted a Japanese metal style game show with Marty Friedman. Paul lived there for while, speaks fluent Japanese and also has a Japanese wife. Paul btw is also one of Miyako's guitar influences, his material was some of the songs she learned by ear as practice. Anyway, all that to say Lisa-X shreds.

Now that y'all have experienced one Japanese child prodigy guitarist in Li-Sa-X, it is time to experience another Japanese child prodigy guitarist named Haruka Noma (stage name Hal-Ca) and the band Asterism. Last summer, I was vacationing in NYC and Asterism happened to be performing at a small club a short subway ride from where I was staying. I went to see their show while my family went to a Broadway show. Asterism is a trio and in addition to Haruka, there are the brothers (not her brothers) Miyu and Mio Yoshinaka. Miyu is an amazing bassist and Mio is a great drummer who tends to get overshadowed by the other two. I got to the club early and found my spot right by the stage in front of Haruka's mic stand, which was surprising short. I hadn't realized how small Haruka is until I saw that mic stand. Needless to say, they put on a fantastic show and Haruka was as great as I knew she would be. Haruka also sang on at least a couple of songs. Her voice is not yet on the level of her guitar playing, but she is still young and she will get better as her voice matures. She did do a really good job when the band played a cover of Crazy Train. I suggest y'all watch a live video of their song Dawn. I think Haruka was only 16 at the time. The sound is very good for a fan video - ua-cam.com/video/buQPvINJcA0/v-deo.html

KOIAI = 恋愛 = love+love This song is quite different from their others, which are highly melodic. BYW, the guitarist on the left side of the screen is HAZUKI, of NEMOPHILA.
A lot of Koiai's music is pop rock but they have an outstanding cover of Hikaru Utada - "Automatic" (Dirty Loops version). Guitarist Li-sa-X is a former child prodigy who has been posting her guitar performances on UA-cam since age 7. I like her cover of Joe Satriani - Satch Boogie with Yoyoka.
The word “prodigy” gets thrown around way too much. In this case, it is fully deserved. Lisa-X has been posting music on youtube since she was seven, did credible covers of Dream Theater and Polyphia at 10, and has had her own band since she was 13. The core members of Lisa-X band were Lisa-X, Rina on vocals and Hazuki, formerly of Disqualia and now the lead guitarist for Nemophila, on co-lead guitar. Rina left the band in 2022 and they took a hiatus to rebuild. They re-emerged as Koiai, and can legitimately claim to be a supergroup. Kotono joined them after stints with various groups including Ironbunny. The big catch was Kanade Sato on drums. Sato is also a member of Muses and is in big demand as a session drummer. Wakazaemon has been appearing as a guest on bass. She frequently tours with Marty Friedman and is also a member of East of Eden. Here are some links worth checking out. The first one is Lisa’s 2017 appearance at the annual female rock festival organized by Show-Ya-she is up there with some of the best guitarists in the world and they clearly love sharing the stage with her. The third one is her collaboration with the even younger drum phenom, Yoyoka Soma, who is herself a force of nature. Great reaction, guys! I don't have much to add from the other comments. Most of their other songs are pretty chill and poppy, but Li-sa-x said they are working on a new album. So I will let you know if they come out with another shredfest. Love you guys! ❤
Hi from France: Lisa-X (black hair) is a young guitar prodigy (barely 20 years old) and if Steve Vai had a granddaughter, she is Japanese and is called Lisa-X. The second guitarist (blonde hair) is already known to you since she is Hazuki, the current lead guitar of NEMOPHILA. They both play on Ibañez 7 strings... The drummer is also another young prodigy (22 years old today) from the internet and is recognized as an excellent drum session artist who plays as well (a bit like Senri Kawaguchi) jazz, fusion or rock... She has just officially joined the band The singer Kotono comes from the world of pop rock and the bassist, Wakazaemon, is invited for this concert. She is a member of East of Eden...
This is what happens when you cross the streams, really good music! It's a super group with two child prodigies in it, so good! One Way or Another would be the next song to listen to.
Here's a UA-cam short of Li-sa-X practicing that part in "A New Picture" where she shreds right after Hazuki's tapping. She's so effortless and smooth with it. Close up, you can definitely see some Paul Gilbert in her playing ua-cam.com/users/shorts2mdBhq8f82Q?si=Cq2pNBzl53LJwst6
Well, I hate to say I told you so but……..oh hell I don’t hate it! 😅 I, and others, knew you would like this. A bit of background on the musicians. The guitarist who did the last solo part is Li-Sa-X and this is basically her project. And get this……she is only recently turned 19. The other guitarist is Hazuki from Nemophila and she’s 27. The bassist, who is a beast, is Wakazaemon who freelances with Marty Friedman and East Of Eden (another band you should check out. I recommend Evolve, the long version. She will be 27 at the end of September. Wakazaemon isn’t yet a permanent member of the band but I hope she’ll stay. She’s very busy though. The drummer is Kanade Sato, another brilliant prodigy who can play many styles equally well. She and Senri Kawaguchi are considered 2 of the best drummers anywhere. She’s 21. And the singer is Kotono and she is also young turning 19 earlier this month. Not all their songs are like this. They have a wide variety of styles and I feel they are testing out the waters to see which direction they should go. I, for one, would like to hear more of this progressive metal/rock style. The parts where the singing goes reminds me a bit of Kaizers Orchestra. They were a Norwegian alternative rock band and that rhythmic style is called cabaret style.
Li-sa-x is the 1st guitar player Hazuki 2nd guitar player Kanade Sato Drums Kotono vocals Guest bass player... Aomeone help me I can't remember her name Thanks
The bassist is Wakazaemon: legendary session star, bassist for East of Eden and Marty Friedman's "first call" when he puts together a touring band. She's acting as support bass for this.
When you ask Prog Jazz/Fusion folks to play Prog Rock/Metal in Japan, you get this masterpiece! By now, they, Koiai, got to know that this is the direction they got to go by the amazing response by everyone. Try "One way or another," an homage to ACaDaCa? 🦍🍌

Kotono has an interesting history. She was one of the 5 dancers performing with Babymetal during their Dark Carnival concerts in 2018. Then in 2019, she joined a trio of singer/dancers in Ironbunny which was a rock/metal band with a lead guitarist Ediee Ironbunny, a cyborg from the future where all music is digital so he traveled back in time to change history by playing rock-n'-roll. Both Saki and Mayu of Nemophila have performed with him. Ironbunny shutdown in 2021. Here is their video with Saki ua-cam.com/video/IW-bCf9EAx4/v-deo.html

These girls would play Polyphia off of the stage, for sure. Everyone playing an instrument is at Grand Master level, Dream Theatre/Lovebites level talent in this band.
Hazuki, Li-Sa-X and Kotono are all brilliant, but if they don’t have cohesive music then you just get prog, and prog is just showing off. There is nothing original or elevating here, just extreme guitar work, which is… just showing off. Like East of Eden, these young ladies have so much more to offer in terms of making music, but they need better songwriting.
Li-Sa-x wrote this song. She is 19 years old. Give her a break. Can you write a song like this? And the original version was all shredfest but Kotono requested more lyrics to break it up so they added more vocals. (edit: age 19)
Not original? 🤔Not sure how many bands have mixed prog metal and Cabaret styles together before. Just because YOU can't play it doesn't mean it's "showing off." You might as well say, 'They shouldn't play to the best of their abilities because it makes me jealous.' I'm a composer and musician myself, why shouldn't I constantly challenge myself?
Part of me doesn’t want to poke the bear here. But devils advocate…. Nothing original? is speaking in absolutes. The fact that the song uses the same 12tones, but in an order which has never been done before. It’s an impossible standard, ridiculous at its face. Putting fast slow fast slow?, been done before, true. Heavy then circuslike, ya ya hipsters thought of that decades ago. Nothing elevating?! Bullshit. These reactors were excited by the energetic music. And prog itself is literally a form that attempts to elevate. Prog, and other elevating envelope pushing forms, do suffer from extremism, but that’s almost by definition. The world’s record longest note / slowest tempo may be your scene, but some enjoy jumping higher. A) that’s ok. B) that’s not all that’s going on here. Is the majority of it one chord? Kinda. But there is plenty to hear compositionally too. Cohesive? I didn’t think so at first listen, but it’s definitely thought and conversation provoking. Not kid’s stuff. Nevermind that it was literally written by a high schooler. Ok that you dismiss it. I respect it. What do you think of as similar music? And East of Eden? Again disagree. Compositionally complex, yet creative & accessible. Some dis the “pop”, but blending the goals of popular and elevating is where many artists explicitly want to be, Japanese hard rock scene has been nailing those goals the past decade
@@timgove5337 a lesson musicians will not learn over time is that just because something is technically excellent does not mean anyone except the creator actually wants to listen to it. Not only don’t they “get it” but they are perpetually offended by it.
@@Vitericus1 yes! Challenge yourself to make music people want to listen to if you are going to release it to the public! If you’re just trying to impress your musician buddies, don’t bother with releasing it. 😜

Overall, rock is not only in good hands, but arguably has been taken over by Japanese women. The future looks great!
Great reaction, guys! I don't have much to add from the other comments. Most of their other songs are pretty chill and poppy, but Li-sa-x said they are working on a new album. So I will let you know if they come out with another shredfest. Love you guys! ❤
Hi from France:
Lisa-X (black hair) is a young guitar prodigy (barely 20 years old) and if Steve Vai had a granddaughter, she is Japanese and is called Lisa-X.
She has just officially joined the band
The singer Kotono comes from the world of pop rock and the bassist, Wakazaemon, is invited for this concert.
It's insane how good they get so young! .. I had no idea they were that young that's insane natural Born talent right there.
@@TJandTheGringa I’m thinking about the level I was playing at 19. Nowhere near this that’s for sure.
Love your reaction videos.
I still think some of these Japanese Ppl are A.I. LOL
@@TJandTheGringa 🤣🤣
Li-sa-x is the 1st guitar player
Hazuki 2nd guitar player
Kanade Sato Drums
Kotono vocals
Guest bass player... Aomeone help me I can't remember her name
Thanks
The bassist is Wakazaemon: legendary session star, bassist for East of Eden and Marty Friedman's "first call" when he puts together a touring band. She's acting as support bass for this.
@@DavidKAndersonFor example she played with Marty at Wacken festival last year.
Lisa-X... proving that no matter what you do there is a teenage Japanese girl that can do it better. And they are both playing seven strings.
When you ask Prog Jazz/Fusion folks to play Prog Rock/Metal in Japan, you get this masterpiece! By now, they, Koiai, got to know that this is the direction they got to go by the amazing response by everyone. Try "One way or another," an homage to ACaDaCa? 🦍🍌
Hagane after losing some members came back strong with Junna on Drums and Nagi thier new singer Sakura is still the Guitarist and may be only original member Hagane Tenka-Goken The Five Swords of Japan ua-cam.com/video/GhMamN_DBO4/v-deo.html
Guitarist Li-sa-X is 19 and Kanade Sato (drummer) is 21. What the hell are they eating for breakfast in Japan?
They are Androids
Thank you for always supporting Japanese bands. Please check out “BRIDEAR” - Still Burning. An all-Japanese female metal band. From a Japanese fan of your channel.

Oh and paul gilbert was her mentor.🤘🤘🤘
If they ever decide to put piano live in their gigs Hazuki-san can play it. She’s also a Pianist.
One gittarist is from nemophilia..❤😊
They both play 7-strings AND shred.
Both using 7 strings, ibanez
I was trying to see the guitars...I knew they were Ibanez ..Sick! 🤘
This band is a Prodigy.
Tequila Jimmy and The Gringa.

Hazuki (from Nemophila) and Lisa x are both playing 7 string..
LISA X IS THE BEST GUITARIST EVER❤
🥰🤗😁
These girls would play Polyphia off of the stage, for sure. Everyone playing an instrument is at Grand Master level, Dream Theatre/Lovebites level talent in this band.
Fun fact...Li-Sa-X played/toured with Polyphia when they came to Japan while she was 12.
