When I was 19 to 20 years old I became from a crappy swimmer to an expert, sport swimmer in a matter of months, mostly by teaching myself through UA-cam videos. This is definetly my favorite sport. 🏊♂️
That's awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I know I'm pretty randomly asking but do anybody know of a good site to watch newly released tv shows online?
@Jimmy Dylan Thanks, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I really appreciate it!!
@Curtis Emmett no problem :D
Any specific channel or video that helped? I can swim in the deep end fine but my technique just feels off and I don’t know what I’m doing half the time. Any tips?
This instructor is really thorough. She explains each step to you. I wish she could teach me some techniques.
Same
Taught myself how to swim today... Happy as shit
So amazing to hear! Keep up the great work!
Thanks guys!
Hi do u mind telling me how long it took it learn please?
@@richauntie316 it should only take a day. I taught my 20 year old friend how to swim in just a few hours.
@@ASMRyouVEGANyet for real? Is treading water pretty simple?
I am 71 taking swimming lessons, not going well. There is a lot in this video that will be a big help. I could have used your video a couple of months back, Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Anything you learn is a plus. Best of luck. Don’t stop.
I took some swim lessons in early 2020 (before lockdown), but couldn’t practice at all until now, when my city’s public pools began to slowly reopen. This video is so helpful and makes me feel much more confident about returning to the pool in a few days! Thanks so much, great video and great instructor!!
This was the best video I’ve seen yet on total beginner lap swim help! I’d never have known about the flags ,judging distance , etc .
Most swim videos use lingo a beginner doesn’t understand! It’s very intimidating for an adult who can basics swim but not “ proper “ swim ! Thanks
Glad to hear that! Happy swimming!
Thank you! I REALLY need the breathing tips. I like the “10 kicks, then breathe” because I usually just go til I can’t go anymore. Very helpful. 👍🏻
Swimming is amazing for the mind, body, and soul! Happy Swimming! 😄
Thanks for remembering us. Other topics: breathing, stroke mechanics, good cross training for swimmers to make them better, proper kick, how to avoid burnout, etc. My biggest hurdle as a novice has been breathing properly and relaxing, as having endurance. I'm good for about 4-6 laps and have to stop. Goal is to swim not necessarily fast, but for a longer duration.
@@jimmyb3845 thanks - I play a lot of different sports and find I'm over analytical on technique - so I think you're right once I relax and just allow the stroke to happen, it'll get easier. Thanks for the comment.
Try yoga for swimmers
Think of having a long body and slow down your stroke so you glide as long as possible - 3 secs or so - before the next stroke. You’ll have your hand and arm and shoulder in a long reach in front of you which will encourage body rotation in the torso, hips, legs, and feet. And, a cheat tip, the less you kick, the longer you’ll be able to go. Kicking is more tiring than getting smooth, long, slow pulls during your stroke.
I only discovered swimming as a young adult; learning new strokes is not easy now, but swimming, I hope, will be a lifetime sport. Thanks for this vid!
Swimming is great for all ages! You're welcome and good luck!
Thank you so much! This was so succinct, perfect for coming back to again and again.
I have always loved swimming but watching the Olympics has inspired me to try training to become a better swimmer.
I wish I had gotten lessons from someone like you when I was younger!
Glad it was helpful! Happy swimming!
Moved into a neighborhood with a pool an wanted to use it for workouts but been super intimidated but this really helped! An actual guide for beginners
So glad to hear that, Nicole! You've got this - take the plunge and happy swimming :)
This had so much information I never knew about. Thank you!
Going swimming on my own for the first time tomorrow and this has put me at ease. Very informative
how was it? i would really like to try swimming but i'm afraid because it's something new 😂
@@luca5839 absolutely fine, no one actually cares what you’re doing which is lovely! Someone asked me “what is your goal?” And I replied “trying not to drown”😂 just wing it and have fun
I recently started swimming lessons and glad I did. Congrats to you on not drowning 👍😊
@@Ballerina55 I hope you’re enjoying them
@@thecrosscrossesout7679 going swimming on your own takes courage, congrats. I,myself even used orange armbands in early days w/o fearing what people would think of me. By the way, i remember using the same reply as well when people asked me about my progress) . But now, going to pool the second time in years, i intend to swim back and forth between walls w/o interruption. As of now i complete one full go without problem but approaching the end i feel my lung capacity just won't let me. So i'm trying to get even more comfortable with pool water by diving my head often and attempt to push my breathing boundaries every now and then, hopefully, to get bigger lungs. ( like in GTA San Andreas ))).
That's a great lesson for begginers. Thanks to share us
Glad you enjoyed it! Happy Swimming!
You're so lucky to have such a nice pool to train in

Where is this?
I know right most pools in my area aren't that big they used to have a Olympic size public here until it closed have not been in so long but got a hotel room with a decent size pool and I will be in the a long time I miss swimming so much
I’m right with you all. I’ve never even seen a 50m pool in person. It’s too cold where I live to build one.
This video was so helpful and complimented my first private swim session (as an adult). Thank you for sharing it!
So glad we could help, Summer! Happy swimming :)
Thanks for this, i just revisited it after years away from the pool and it just boosted my confidence enough so i could walk in and get going in the adaptive lane with my PT!
Swim tips really good I know more about swimming pool now can wait when pool are open in June 👏
Excellent instruction. Thank you so much💗
Excellent thorough clear tuition from out of the pool to entering and swim tuition.
I took swimming lessons as a kid. They never told us anything about judging the distance from the wall. So thank you, now I know over 10 years later hahahah
Better late than never! Happy swimming :)
Thank you so much for this! I know some of these may seem like things everyone should know, but I really didn't. I appreciate this being geared towards true beginners!
Excellent video! I believe the instructor's name is Paige, and she does a fantastic job in teaching the basics. I swim fairly consistently (a side crawl), and I would like to learn to properly swim the freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke.
So I'm a runner. I was running 10 miles religiously every other day. Until I got iliopsoas Bursitis. I would like to adopt this sport and get good at it. Good video.
Thank you! Check out the MySwimPro app for workouts, coaching, and technique videos.
What great tips , thanks for posting !
Paige, you are a great swim instructor. Please make more videos.
Instructions were perfect but had to turn the video off as the wind noise (I'm assuming that's what it was) was so distracting and made it hard to hear in some places. Definately make more videos but get a wind shield for the mic.
Wish I could take my device to the pool to remember all your information. Great video thanks
I just started swimming. Its been a week now and I'm enjoying it to the max. This by far is my favourite channel
So glad you're enjoying swimming, Eddie! Welcome to the MySwimPro community :)
thank you for these tips
Wish you were my teacher! Thank you for this video :)
If you watched this video, and applied her tips, she is yo teacher.
Very nicely done. Thank you.
Great video! I'm definitely going to learn how to swim after watching this video
You can do it!
I dont see this trainers name anywhere, who is she? I want to see more of her stuff and follow her. She really breaks it down for us self taught youtube students. Looking for inspiration.
This is Paige! She's part of the team here at MySwimPro.
I thought this was an [Adult Swim] video. 5 minutes after, nothing weird happens. Great tips! amazing video! :) and a wonderful teacher!
Haha thank you for your support!
Thank u its a great teaching video, it helped me a lot as a beginner swimmer.
I so wish I had professional swimming lessons when I was a child. When you learn to swim the correct way, I’m sure this sport is enjoyable and will keep you fit
I could have used this before I started swim today bc I had no clue what to do
Same 😂
Thank you for explaining the basics so well.
You're very welcome! Happy swimming :)
Good video know more about swimming pools now
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Nice! ❤️ swimming
Thank you! I was always really bothered by having my face in the water, so up until now I've only ever done a lame doggy paddle. I'm looking forward to actually learning to swim properly.
Happy to help! We've got several more beginner swim tips on our channel - check them out and happy swimming :)

Thank you so much for this! I've been wanting to swim laps but was worried about not knowing the proper protocol, rules, etiquette, etc so I've put off going for months. I'm excited to start now!

I feel like am missing lots of fun ,hopefully learn how to swim this summer 😌
Thank you very much !
I need to focus on overcoming the reflex that closes my sinus when my head is underwater. I have never successfully exhaled through my nose while my head is underwater. My swallow reflex activates every time! I'm 48 and just starting to get into swimming for exercise! I've got a way to go, but I'm determined to learn the techniques!
I really learned a lot
Amazing video! Learnt many new interesting points!
Glad you enjoyed it, Mayuresh! Happy swimming :)
I used to be a swimming instructor but all my students were toddlers, so it was interesting to see this communicated for adults! I would be like “alright, time to bob for apples and then blow out the birthday candles” followed by “ok let’s make a rocket ship with our arms and get ready for take off”. I never knew how to communicate these steps without sounding like a child.
thanks, I wish you can give me lessons. I really want to learn so when Im by a pool I can
actually enjoy it.

Wow thanks for this video! Going to the gym pool due to health reasons because of my knees can’t take running. My problem was breathing and now I know the best technique.
Glad to help! Swimming is a great non-weight-bearing exercise. Keep up the great work :)
1st time here; subscribed! Great video! You explain & demonstrate very well & slowly..
Thanks for tuning in and welcome to the MySwimPro community!
What a beautiful pool.
I go to my local Gym at 5am and noticed nobody uses the Pool at that time so I decided to add swimming into my workout. I'm actually not a good swimmer. I can freak out and panic though I took classes as a child. I never learned how to close my sinuses (when you learn as a baby) eithwr so water goes in my nose. I need confidence.
You're the second person in these comments that mentioned 'closing sinuses'. I'd never heard of it before, so I just Googled it. I can do it, but now I need to figure out when I need to do it without doing it at the wrong time and choking myself, lol!
Thank you so much for making this video
You are so welcome! Happy swimming :)
Nice pool!
Yeah that is nice people, is there a pool in heaven?
It really is man
i just started swimming again. i took lessons when i was around 10? and havent really swam since. my main problem is just that i suck at breathing, i overestimate how long i can go and end up super out of breath from pretty slow swimming. also my goggles always leak. brand new, but ive never found goggles that fit my eyes well and dont leak. any tips?
Hi there! Here's a great video to address breathing: ua-cam.com/video/KASE1gI7XLE/v-deo.html

Excellent ⚘
Thank you very much for your sharing fantastic video 📹 🌹🙏😍💪
I would love to learn how to swim
She is so beautiful, gets me motivated to start swimming again now that they are open again, I want her body!
Congratulations, you are meow on a list.
This has 2 interpretations
Brilliant tips had no idea what the flags were for ! I find “masters swim “ in my town not friendly at all, or welcoming .
It is mainly for swimmers that do triathlon training ( I was told by a YMCA employee)
Totally contrary to what USMS was supposed to be for .
Thank goodness for your videos ! As an adult who can swim but not “ properly “ I feel it’s common of 1960’s born kids to never have taken lessons but mostly taught by our parent or sibling as a toddler .
I know NOTHING about pool etiquette etc I just long to look like those gorgeous am swimmers that are gliding thru their lanes as a splash and kick like a 5 yr old ! Rotfl !
So glad others say they’ve self taught bc I cannot find any help to teach adults how to “ properly “ swim as an exercise !
Thank you so so much
So glad we could help, Alison! This is why we built the MySwimPro app - we can help swimmers around the world improve their swimming and health at their own pace. Check it out at myswimpro.com/coach (and happy swimming!) :)
At the pool where I swim it’s recommended to o shower before getting in the pool. If you use cool water to shower you ll have an easy time to get into the water.
I constantly get calf and arm sprains and injuries when I go lane swimming but can run often with no issues. How do people avoid swimming sprains? Do people usually stretch a lot before swimming? I would like to regularly swim as a hobby but the constant injuries are off putting.
Yes we definitely recommend stretching before swimming, and a proper warm up will help with this, too.
I took swimming lessons in high school. Was so afraid of the water couldn’t learn how to float. When my daughter was born I enrolled her in swimming lessons at an early age. She’s now a good swimmer and still wishing I can learn.
It's never too late to learn! Look for beginner swim classes in your area or check out our beginner tips playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLi3IXDSttB4op09YsstrOOrgLPUZ-ZxrB.html
For my SHT(learn), of breast stroke - they havd me, dive down - then ease up! Like a snorkeler. Feet - follow down - nearly 90deg. Helps with - patience of - next stroke cycle. Helps, the breath expansion.
I'll try this right away
Good luck! You've got this!
Wow, you’re so fit!
48 and just now learning how to swim. Never to late.
Couldn't have said it better, Neil - happy swimming :)
She seems very kind and sweet. Take for the great tips! 👍
Really appreciate it! Happy swimming!
Thaaaank you! Please how do I make the bubbles if I'm holdingmy breath? I'm afraid 😨 to let my body go into the water so I sink.....laura
I swim and did not know about the pool markings and flags.
Glad you found this educational and helpful!
Same. Really helps because I love back stroke. But how do I keep water from going up my nose?
@@ASMRyouVEGANyet I just learned that, so after a deep breath blow it out from your nose as soon as you put your head in the water. If you are on your back try humming a song, while holding your breath. Was that helpful?
Thank you so much
You're welcome! Happy swimming!
@@FaresKsebati thank you
Nice
Yeah man
Pls guide me, from float to getting back to standing position , not able to land.
Thanks for the video
I am 42 yrs and started to swim 3 months ago still struggling with my breathing techniques how can I prove it
how do you lift your legs up to make yourself horizontal ?
a tip- try not to use paddles too much if you're a beginner- using paddles is hard on your shoulders and makes it easy to injure it
Tank you...👍👍👍👍👍🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🇲🇾
