  • Moving up from a Hobie Pro Angler fishing kayak to a tinny (tinnie) Quintrex Explorer Outback, a v-hull aluminium boat. This video is a detailed walkthrough of all of the DIY mods in the first 12 months of ownership to make it an inshore fishing weapon. Taking inspiration from @TinyBoatNation @AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats and plenty of builders doing jonboat to bassboat conversions, I take you through Electronics, Casting Decks, Bimini, Railblaza fitout, Tohatsu MFS30D outboard, electronics, sliding captains chair, show the bow mount watersnake geospot GPS trolling motor, cargo box upgrades and camping setup. If you like tiny boats, tinnies and DIY bass boat upgrades, this one is for you.

Hello. Great video! What is the weight of the boat (including all the equipment but excluding the weight of passengers) ?

Bare hull is light - 117kg. Motor is the lightest 4 stroke in its class - 58kg (plus power tilt etc). Then throw in 100kg for all the mods and gear at a guess. Being lithium, the batteries are less than 1/3 weight of equivalent lead acid batteries and keeping the ply down to 9mm really saved some weight. Biggest weight item is the dual fuel tanks if full. My guess is between 250-300kg.

Great video mate. Just a question, why eva foam over marine carpet? I am starting to explore tinnies the same size as you and have seen a mix out there. Also for the holsters you made from PVC, did you just get pvc and use a heatgun to mould it?

I like the foam much better. I think it looks better, easier to clean and doesn’t get hot. I had to remove the carpet to seal the ply as it didn’t appear sealed from factory - so much easier to use foam to replace it.

Yes, the additional pcv rod tubes added to the Kmart rod holder just heated with heatgun and a beer bottle wedged in top to get the flare. Dremel and hacksaw for the cutouts.

Dude what a weapon. Awesome job modifying.
I bought the same one but with a 25h Mercury on it. She’s a blank canvas at the moment, but looking to do some mods. The first will be a casting deck.
Where did you get the slimline nav lights from ??

@@camo9425 Thanks! They were from AliExpress. Super cheap, just have to wait a while for them to arrive.
