*1972, I grew up living next door to an older couple that owned their own cookie & candy business. They made homemade peanut brittle every year, starting in October. They paid an Amish man $500 for their peanut brittle recipe. They made it in very big pots, & only the men could make it, due to the addition of baking soda that was added at the end. It would rise very quickly, & to keep it from spilling over, it had to be stirred very quickly, then dumped onto huge metal trays. After about 30 minutes, his wife & I would kinda' twist the trays like an ice cube tray to make it come cleanly off prepared tray. We then would break pieces, & add to the prepared, labeled clear bags that had their company's name, weight, & price on it. Quite honestly, the best brittle I've ever eaten. Absolutely nothing like that Aunt Sues stuff. It was far from flat. Great video. Brought back many fond memories.*

I had a sweet elderly neighbor teach me how to make almond Roca, peanut brittle and various others candies. I'm so grateful to have learned these skills.. but brittle will give u a definite work out! We used to stretch it out with table forks and then I bought handheld garden rakes which helped us to work faster. In the end I think stretching it out by hand works best. My little elderly friend passed away last year and her family gave me the huge marble slab she used to make all her sugar based candies. I still make candy in her honor.. especially during holidays. We can learn a lot from our elderly, I could have looked up any of those recipes online but I had so much more fun learning them from her. 😊 She is missed.

He asks great questions? Less than a minute and half in and he has:
      A) Asked him how he knows when enough corn syrup is enough as he was adding corn syrup to a scale after he said he needed 10lbs of corn syrup. That's a pretty silly question.
      B) As he was still weighing out the corn syrup he asked "does anything else go into it?" Do you really think that's a "great question"?
On top of that at 0:16 he said "bluh" with disgust in his voice and then at 1:14 straight up told him he wasn't paying attention. Dumb questions and disrespectful.
