Your videos are the absolute best, the clearest, easiest to understand and follow and your artwork and personality always brightens my day. Looking forward to more!
Your videos are really helpful and your work is the bomb. Question please: Are the tools in Fresco basically found in Illustrator for example Pathfinder to trim vector elements?
Love your videos. Thanks. With all the texture and clipping masks, can you then save it and use it for a tshirt print? I was told I couldn't use transparency and/or other features on a tshirt. I'm not sure what other features don't cross over onto a tshirt designs. Thanks.
You can, but it really depends on how the shirts are being printed, whether it’s silkscreen or direct to garment, etc. They’ll have very different requirements in most cases.
yo chris love all the videos quick question. is it smart or ok to fill in a piece of vector art with pixel color? wouldn't u want it to be vector too? im asking because i use vector color to fill in my shapes and since the color margin option wont work when using vectors im curious what can u do to go a lil past your line art to not have any white showing at all when using vector layers to color things in. thanks again !
Im using Fresco for about 3 months now and I really like it. The only thing that bugs me is that the color picker is not compatible with CMYK, so long term I will probably consider switching to something else to avoid issues with printing colors. Unless they are able to add it (I already voted for this upgrade via Adobe website, but in case you happen to talk to them by any chance, Chris, maybe you could mention it 😊)
If I am working on something that is going to be printed on a 4 color press I’ll just pick my colors ahead of time and use the RGB conversions in Fresco. I’m not sure if it’s something they’ll be adding soon, would be nice though. That said, in many cases RGB is fine. Anything printed on a digital press, or direct to garment, on demand, etc is going to be utilizing RGB for the most part. Most things aren’t actually going on a printing press, like for bigger publications, or large print runs. Obviously because I tend to work in flat colors this is an easier fix for me.
@@chris-piascik thank you for the reply! Other than CMYK question mark, Im very happy with the app, especially with how easy and fun is to create animations.
I generally default to pixel based brushes because I prefer the more natural drawing experience and the ability to easily create a more analog look and feel. I work at high enough resolutions that image quality is almost never an issue. On occasion a client project will specify vector art, but that’s typically only for branding stuff or maybe packaging. Aside from that, I’ll sometimes use vector just for the vector trimming.
@ thanks for sharing! As an Illustrator user, I guess it might be best to get used to pixel brushes for that more natural feel/look. The brushes act quite differently.
Hi Chris, hope you are doing well after the flue! I have a question about the vector brushes and when i use them and i want to do a color fill, do i still use the paint bucked for a vector fill or do i need to color it in manually with a vector brush?
Hey Chris, In another video you had done a skull with wings and drawn it via the vector brushes, and you then exported that to Illustrator to clean up the extra nodes. My question is if you dont have adobe illustrator is that going to be an issue if your unable to do that step you had done?
Love your videos and your Rick & Morty - style delivery lol.. learning a lot.. btw, I sent you an email asking about your development as an artist - did you get it? (Matt Wills) Keep up the awesome work!
Once you add the texture brushes to it doesn't it change the file from vector to raster when it's imported into Illustrator? Are there any texture brushes that stay vector?
Well, if you’re working with a texture brush it will automatically make a raster layer above your vector layer. The vector layer will remain vector unless you merge it with the raster layer. Unfortunately there’s not currently a way to add vector texture brushes in Fresco.
Until they fix the "Vector Glitch" in Fresco is solved for me it is not usable as a app. It took Adobe 6 months to admit it was not my fault so I hope with the next update. ;(
It causes the whole app to freeze when using vector ... the current work around is either swipe up or two finger tap then three finger tap..@@chris-piascik
I'm also finding a glitch in vector drawing which basically looks like random dots or lines shooting out randomly from my pen contact and I often cant use the any of the tools like its frozen except I can still draw. @@chris-piascik
Thank you for providing free tutorials on Fresco. I just started learning beginning of this year in 2024 but was wondering How can I have multiple arboards like photoshop and illustrator??? I can’t seem to find that function inside the fresco… Did it came out yet? I am a 2D motion designer and really need that feature.

Wow, thank you! 😊
I can attest to this too haha. Totally unmatched.
Awesome! Thank you sir!
Thanks so much!!
Every time I think I know everything there is to know about Fresco you come out with a video that humbles me. Thanks for that!
I appreciate that!
Thanks for the tips Chris looking forward to the chrispy release!
You bet! :)
Good stuff Chris - Thanks!
Love the Honda City in your intro!
do you draw cars very often?Would love to see more of your art if so!
Great tips! I'd forgotten about a few of these!
Glad this was helpful!
great tips! and yes, make more videos with tips

Nice explanation, thank you!
You're welcome!!
Yeh more tips please 🙏
Cool, thanks!

How do you decide when to use a vector brush vs pixel brush?
I generally default to pixel based brushes because I prefer the more natural drawing experience and the ability to easily create a more analog look and feel. you got it!
are the Others brushes Vector?

Thanks! You can use the paint bucket with the vector brushes.
Can you track the time spent drawing like in procreate?
If you’re using Fresco on an iPad you can track time spent in specific apps.
@@chris-piascik right on! Thank you

No that step isn’t necessary, I just like to simplify it the file a little bit, but it’s definitely not required.
Thank You. @@chris-piascik

Thank you! Hmm I don’t think I saw that email, I’ll try to find it.
Mate, I’d never imagined this to happen, but I guess you sold me on Fresco. Seems Procreate will go into hibernation.
Hah, whoops!

@ChrisPiascik “Pressure for Opacity” and “Pressure for Size” that can be found in Photoshop seem to be missing from Adobe Fresco. Am I correct?
Nope, you can control those in the brush settings menu for each individual brush, I believe under “pressure dynamics”
That's dope
Thank you!

Can anyone tell how can I add glow or blur in fresco? Is that possible?
There’s not a filter but you could do it with a brush.
Check out the Retro Supply Co Woodland Wonderland brush set I used in this video: bit.ly/3MHvl9G
Margin only works for pixel layers
Until they fix the "Vector Glitch" in Fresco is solved for me it is not usable as a app. It took Adobe 6 months to admit it was not my fault so I hope with the next update. ;(
Hmm, what's the vector glitch? I don't have any vector issues. Are you on Windows by any chance?
It causes the whole app to freeze when using vector ... the current work around is either swipe up or two finger tap then three finger tap..@@chris-piascik
I'm also finding a glitch in vector drawing which basically looks like random dots or lines shooting out randomly from my pen contact and I often cant use the any of the tools like its frozen except I can still draw. @@chris-piascik
No glitches for me, either - please elaborate.

Unfortunately that’s not an option yet. I just use folders for projects as a (sort of) workaround.
