    THIS vid is exactly what I needed to see about fresco. I always get confused by some of the functions fresco has when it comes to layering. If you could, keep making more vids on this topic. It’s extremely helpful to see. Great vid Chris!

    Fantastic tutorial! Your tips for adding color to illustrations in Fresco are incredibly useful. I'm curious, do you have any favorite color combinations or palettes that you tend to use frequently in your illustrations?

    Can you please tell me why you draw with the pixel brush and not the vector brush? New to Fresco here 😅

    • @chris-piascik
      @chris-piascik  5 місяців тому +1

      I use both, but for things like this, where I’m trying to get a more analog / print making look, vector brushes don’t work as well. They’re more suited for solid shapes/colors. Also, if I don’t need the art to be reproduced at gigantic sizes it’s overkill. There’s a lot more control with pixel brushes.

    Can you make a 10 minute animation on fresco???

    • @chris-piascik
      @chris-piascik  11 місяців тому

      Maybe. But it’s not really the best for that kind of thing. I think it’s better to think of Fresco’s animation features as a way to add motion to an illustration.

    Help! When I make a new layer and tap on it, it does not give me the option set as reference? Has this changed? Thank you

    • @chris-piascik
      @chris-piascik  4 місяці тому

      Hmm is it a placed image? If so you’ll need to convert it to a pixel layer in the layer options.

    Do you have access to color margin in the free version of fresco?

    • @chris-piascik

      Yes, you just can’t import brushes in the free version and you have less creative cloud storage

    Couldn’t you just expand on the non destructive for the line work color by adding a layer above to change its color.

    What i dont like about colouring in fresco, if you decide to see how something looks without the outlines and turn them off, you end up being left with a space thats not been coloured where the lines used to be

    • @chris-piascik
      @chris-piascik  11 місяців тому +1

      Are you talking about when using reference layers? I think that would be the same no matter what app you were using because that's how reference layers work, it's using the space within the lines as a guide, otherwise the color wouldn't have a guide to stop. The only way to get around this would be to manually color on a separate layer and then bring down the opacity of your line work layer so you could see it but still see through it so you could make sure the color went far enough below it. Alternatively you could color as normal with reference layers and then use the color inside setting (or lock transparency) to color your line work to match the fill. Hope that helps!

      @@chris-piascik yeah pretty much. I started using Affinity designer a bit more because it was a little easier for me to have the ability to do this

    • @chris-piascik
      @chris-piascik  2 місяці тому

      Are you asking if that’s a paid feature? No, the only thing you need the paid version for is adding your own brushes, and it also gives you more creative cloud storage space.
