  • This video details the importance of the aftercare process once your car has been fitted with new Xpel paint protection film. During my trip to France the PPF lifted in certain places, and dirt got trapped in the edges in other places. It wasn't a pleasant sight while I was on the trip and I wasn't sure how it would get resolved. Find out how in this video.

I'm no PPF expert but I have had PPF fitted to a couple of cars (one being a GT4) and nearly every edge was wrapped around and NOT left with large unprotected areas in vulnerable areas like this install.

Exactly what I experienced with my PPF installer here in Austria. Had a 981 GT4 and all of the Xpel was wrapped around the edges.

      This install is horrendous.

I am not one to be a keyboard warrior and post a negative comment, but that PPF work is terrible. I've just had my car done, and you'd struggle to see any lines, joints, edges. Only upon very very close inspection you may notice it. Watching this made me appreciate the job on my car alot more.

@JDhillon Thanks for your comments. Do you mind sharing where you had your work done and how much you paid? I was under the impression I had to pay double to get the ultimate quality which would have been 5 figures in £!!

@MAXREVS I have a Lotus Emira and it cost £4000, the place is called Minutia Detailing in Redhill. I was honestly blown away. The gentleman Mike works on the cars personally and is very particular about the quality before it goes out. I am no PPF expert, but I certainly know I don't have any gaps such as seen on your car. Edges seen on your car would freak me out as I'd think everytime I wash I'd catch the edge ans peel it. All mine are tucked around neatly. Honestly you wouldn't know it had PPF on it. I'm happy to share pics.

I've not had PPF fitted to my car so no experience of this, but I've seen many PPF fitting vids to know which are good ones and which are not. Some body part sheets go to the edge and some wrap fully under. It all depends who you use and what templates they are using. Personally, I would have found a company that did the latter for that total 'you can't tell its wrapped' experience. But I guess you pay more. But on a positive note, your care is wrapped and therefore better protected.
Awesome car, very jealous and great vids from your channel.

Not exactly true. When you wrap the edges (Only specific places) you are actually losing reliability in the film, as a 180 degree bend will fail most often. Bulk installs (Sheet Install) and well plotted kits should fit all of the visible (Paint) panel without wrapping a full 180. Personally I will plot and cut my kit with the extra film for the wrap, and trim it back just slightly so the inevitable "fingering" doesn't happen.

Its less lightly to lift wrapped round an edge. It’s not exposed to the weather.
