Happy birthday Maestro Siepi! The greatest Filippo II, Don Giovanni, Oroveso, Zaccaria, Silva, Sparafucile, Jacopo Fiesco, Padre Guardiano, Ramfis and Alvise Badoero ever.
@Eternal Maria Callas His early death at 49 (incidentally the same age as Warren, Björling and Caruso) from a heart attack was truly tragic. One of the greatest basses of all time. IMO THE greatest Grand Inquisitor ever.
What a great bass he was! Unfortunately, something must be wrong with the email-notifications for new posts, as I am not receiving any anymore. Thank you in any case and I shall try to visit the channel, since I am not notified anymore.
The greatness of Siepi is not about the range of voice. The basses who stand on the stage such as metropolitan or La scala, They have to have such range of voice otherwise they can’t afford to do Philip the second in Don Carlo. Rather Siepi keeps his noble voice from the beginning to the end of performance, no matter how high or how low, his voice always maintains the dignity.
A couple of days ago, I discovered some recordings of the first Inquisitor, Francesco Navarrini. A real bass voice, not over-darkened, not woofy. Do you imagine a duet with Navarrini and Siepi? Link below
@@dmytrotsvyntarnyi799 Incorrect. Every bass should have a G1. It just is not a pitch one would perform in opera. You cannot project over an orchestra that low.
@@dmytrotsvyntarnyi799 There is no chest range. All sound is built in the head. Touch a bass singer on his chest. You will feel only a little bit of vibration. But this vibration cannot be heared.
Incredible two octave drop from Siepi. He also had a good low C.

This is the Captain of all basses... tallest pine! Love deeply...Cesare Siepi.
Siepi was among the last of the great basses! Thank you for this!
One of the greatest basses of all time. Isn’t this Don Carlos?
Yes. The Grand inquisitor duet.
Eternal Maria Callas No one beats Siepi/Neri!!!
XxSaruman82xX yes! Neri is AMAZING.

XxSaruman82xX it’s sad, I also can’t believe Bastianini died at 45.

This are "only" two octaves.
Siepi had two and a half octaves.
From the depths below. Appropriately ominous.
Magnificent!!!
Magnifico e meraviglioso.
Praticamente omogeneità di colore e di volume in tutta la gamma vocale. Una magnificenza. Altri grandi bassi non hanno altrettanta caratteristica.

Correct pitch ua-cam.com/video/HBKSP__J99w/v-deo.html
A bit sharp there, he started between E2 and F2 but amazing nonetheless!
If it is this way, then it is a bit flat not sharp as you said. Right?
Every bass must have a g1.
In the serenade of Mefistopheles of Gounod`s Faust the bass must laugh on g1.
Siepi could.
Ghiaurov could not.
Bass should have a resonant E2 - D2. Meaning the very bottom of chest range of a regular bass is C2-A1.
Only deep basso profondi can laugh on G1

@@achmedmohamed4708 by "chest range" I mean the range of ones "chest voice" which is a vocal register.
No not every bass needs a G1. But if they can do one, then that's great!
F4? Seems must be a baritone, closer to tenor. Why he singing on bass lvl?
His timbre is purely bass timbre.
I am sorry, it is Fa note, i thought it A4 😁 Checked on smartphone numbers. Yes, he is a bass, but covering that note very nice!
@Barone Vitellio Scarpia thanks
