the data is probably a scare tactic. We pay $65 for AT&T and with 3 kids all streaming on their phones, me on the computer, thge wife watching TV, we have never had an issue. Data restrictions are old rules. You may want to switch to a better internet provider.
No, it may be true. I just looked at my plan at Cox.com and my data limit is 1,280 GB/month. I've come nowhere near that per the daily data chart. But, I would steam 20 hours a day. She turns it on at 6 am and I turn it off at 2 am. I used that data and input into their data calculator and it showed I could use 1,800 GB. If so, I would need to buy the unlimited plan for an additional $50/month. So I would be paying $140/month for just Internet. If accurate, that would force me to use the 250 mb speed instead of the 500 MB that I have now to help offset the increase. This is fun! Buzz

What I don't like about the advantage plans is for so many things you have to get a preaproval from the plan administrators. And as they're for-profit you know how likely they're going to be to approve anything more than the cheapest option, if even that. We didn't have a town drunk but we had a very short elderly woman that always wore a hat and was the world's worst driver. Stop signs and traffic lights were for other people. So everybody knew that you watched out for the "hat that drove a car". She was also loaded, owned about half the property down town, and knew where ALL the bodies were buried. So she was pretty much untouchable in that time and place ;)

I'm in the trying to convince my wife to change services phase as well. Stinking Verizon $190/mo for our two phones and kids two watches. All devices paid for it makes no sense to me. Haven't had cable for about a decade never going back. Xfinity wifi. No complaints with the latter. Nice work, Buzz.

I'm tempted to just cancel Frontier service. Its just Wi-Fi and a landline and the landline is not used. I just watch free UA-cam and Twitter. I have Amazon prime so ill watch some of their shows sometimes. Im in Florida so in my location Spectrum is a option and they keep sending offers.
Happy to hear you are not going with the DIS-Advantage Plan and replacing your Medicare coverage. I worked for many of the companies that offer the Advantage plans, and they are only in it for the money. They need to make a profit for their share holders and will deny care whenever they can. I also went with the N Plan and a supplement.
Another voice to be wary of those plans even though they can save you some money with no monthly premiums. If people can afford supplemental plans, that may be the way to go. I agree with you. Buzz
@@BuzzRetirementGarage There is so much I know about these Advantage Plans and I feel for those who have locked themselves in. If anyone is in their first year, they can still change and get out without having any underwriting. After your 1st year, it may be difficult to go back to Straight Medicare/Supplement.
You reminded me to call Verizon and cancel the TV service. Saved $65 p/month. (Still paying $99.99 for FiOS) Cannot wait to get rid of the giant black box decorating my living room. Thanks for sharing your experience! (Edit-Part D is mandatory now with lifetime penalties if you don't sign up. I'm using the Supp N gap plan too. I just love Dr. Ed Weir's channel too.)

I have had OOMA for our home phone service for at least 10 years with no problem, it runs a little over $6.00 a month. We also have T Mobile internet for the last year with no problems. We get Netflix for free included with our T Mobile internet. We also put up a small HD antenna and pick up all our local channels. Good luck to you.
Did you carry over your number and if you did how much was it? I see OOMA wants to charge to use your existing phone number. I just ordered T-Mobile internet a few hours ago for $40/month. I'll give it a shot! I want to put up an antenna too. Another project but why not? Buzz
Great background! Looks like I might be “less retired for a few months.” A small church nearby has asked me to interim pastor and help them find a pastor
Buz, We've had OOMA for around 19 years. I used to go with their premium sevice but about a year ago switched to basic. It does the job. No complaints with the service. The only thing I would warn you against is their HD phones don't have great volume, especially on speaker.
Hello buzz how you doing? I subscribe to your channel great job watch you all the time 🙂 You mentioned about cable. I called up my cable company. My yearly subscription is up in July for the same subscription from a year ago went up $35 even after promotion credits unreal problem . They tell you these things all the time to scare you and to keep you hooked to cable. Can you currently get use all these apps? If so, you will be fine. Are there any other options for actual internet service in your area? Can you upgrade your internet with Cox? My sister just dumped her cable and got fire sticks (they have older TVs) but kept her internet service and all is well. Her husband watches a lot of TV and movies.

Plan g for me, I will sleep better at night .Clark Howard has a quote put dis in front of advantage plans Good if you want limitations and higher out of pocket
I am looking into supplement plans. Here in Wisconsin we have riders and normally skilled nursing care in the home is covered for 30 days the rider is 365 days. I will consider this rider. I think the biggest risk of being retired is running out of money will be health related. They can't turn you down when you signup at 65.
@@BuzzRetirementGarage Wisconsin is different from other states. The supplement can only have a rider. My thinking is if I need things done by a nurse it will never be a question of being covered. I am also looking at a high deductible rider because I have a sizable health savings account. Thanks for your time!
Buzz: It is not a question of Medigap plan vs an advantage plan. If you have part B Medicare you do not have to have a Medigap plan. I think you SHOULD have one but you don't have to have one. Also, under an N plan, you will typically pay co-pays that you may not have under a G plan.
If you have a monthly data limit around 1 terabyte, I doubt that you and your wife would reach that. We are a family of 5 with kids playing X box and playing Roku videos and usually never come close to the monthly data limit. Test it out. Good luck Buzz.
I put into the Cox site 20 hours of UA-cam TV watching. My wife has it on at 6:00 am and I turn it off at 2:00 am. Not every day but using that math Cox shows i'd use 1,800 GB and they only give me 1,280 or 1.25 TB for my $90/month. Accurate? I don't know. But, I could go over. Add my security cameras and uploading videos and other things and I could be in trouble? I'll keep searching through the website. Buzz
Yes I have Roku for TV and it’s only like $16 a month and Verizon for my Internet and my cell phone and it’s only $60 a month and then I pay $30 in a payment for my tablet but I have unlimited everything because I download videos, cooking videos and Bible videosand so I never use it all up. I don’t run out of room at all Verizon and there’s four of us on there. Hope you figure it out. It’s the best possible thing for you because I found a cheap deal for me and it still works fine.❤
I just ordered T-Mobile internet for $40/month plus tax. Coupled with UA-cam TV I should be at about $120/month which is a lot better than the $234 I was paying then they recently raised that to $279! I hope it works out. Crossing my fingers! Buzz
The data comment from Cox is a scare tactic to get you to do their tv plan. I have 3 teens gaming and I use sling and a few other apps and have never paid more for my internet plan.

I'm capped at 1,280 GB. They have a usage meter and I plugged in streaming for 20 hours a day. She turns it on at 6 am and I turn it off at 2 am. (Max usage) And just the TV apps would use 1,800 GB. I'm looking into it. Buzz
If you're already taking SS the government will sign you up automatically for A and B. Then, you can choose to take a supplement or Advantage Plan. If you're not already taking SS, then you're correct. You need to sign up for A and B.

I will horn when I go thru. Thanks for the video.
Stop by Olmsted and I'll meet you at the falls. The carp are as long as your leg! Lol
BHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!! "..........when I say that word... that's what she said......" .......yup... we all turn into Jr. high boys throughout life again and again! :)
Heck yay. Why not?
Great video. Thanks! I’m a big Dr. Weir fan. Been watching his videos for about a year now.
I thought he was newer than that but regardless, he's good! Buzz
Up in your neck of the woods tonight Buzz, paving a off ramp off of 480 😂 730hrs to go, keep up the great videos 👍 Have a great 4th of July.
You doing that Olmsted Falls/North Olmsted ramp?
Have whiteboards, will travel😂 Great video. We are almost 65 and have to get our Medicare set up. Thanks for the video 😊
You're welcome. Good luck!
If the sun is behind you, it will wash out the picture. The sun should be in your eyes. :-)
Then I can't see. Lol
T-Mobile 55+ Magenta 2 phones unlimited $64 Total
T-Mobil Internet (just ordered an hour ago) $40 plus tax
UA-cam TV (watching now) full price about $78 taxes included
Currently paying $279 for Internet and Cable
Will be paying $118 saving $161 a month.
Hope it all works out as written! Buzz
@@BuzzRetirementGarage appreciate that, Buzz!
Dr Weir is great !!!!
He is!
Buzz
Ask anybody you know in healthcare-nurses and nursing home people, they will say Medicare Advantage is bad-Run for you life!
@@BuzzRetirementGarage There is so much I know about these Advantage Plans and I feel for those who have locked themselves in. If anyone is in their first year, they can still change and get out without having any underwriting. After your 1st year, it may be difficult to go back to Straight Medicare/Supplement.
@@Barbiedoll1959 The one year rule is important for people to understand. After that, good luck with underwriting.
I start Medicare in August and after alot of research I am going with plan N as well
Sounds like a good choice! Buzz
Glad everything is working out! Buzz
Beautiful background. I have supplemental D through my late husband's work. I've been happy with it.
D is the drug plan. What are you doing just A and B or a supplement or Advantage? Sorry I haven't been over to your channel lately to see some home cooking! Can't believe how busy I am in retirement! Lol.
@@BuzzRetirementGarage Hey Buzz, I hear that from people who have retired. They're so busy. It happens. You fill your days with the things you like doing and wonder how you worked and did all the other stuff. I have parts A and B, and my husband's work pays for half of my supplemental D. I had an aortic valve replacement in September 2022. I didn't have any out-of-pocket expenses. Please feel free to come by for a visit when you have time. I enjoy your videos and look forward to them.
5:00 it sounds like a magic jack and it probably won’t work as well as the service you have now.
I don't know. I never researched them. Next project. lol
Buzz
@@BuzzRetirementGarage we got a new phone number when we signed up for OOMA, if I remember right it wasn’t much to keep our number.
Great background! Looks like I might be “less retired for a few months.” A small church nearby has asked me to interim pastor and help them find a pastor
Excellent! Do you live stream your services?
@@BuzzRetirementGarage This little church doesn't.
Be very careful about advantage plans. Like hotel California
But you can never leave....? Lol
Chris Westfall at Senior Savings Network is great as well on Medicare
I'll check him out. Knowlege is power!
Hi Buzz
Thanks for stopping in!
Buz,
We've had OOMA for around 19 years. I used to go with their premium sevice but about a year ago switched to basic. It does the job. No complaints with the service. The only thing I would warn you against is their HD phones don't have great volume, especially on speaker.
Hmmm. I'll have to check reviews on it. Thanks for letting me know! Buzz
We went to live tv with antennae and found a cheap (INSP) $8.00 month for programs my husband wants. Saving over $100 a month.
Great deal. My wife is being very obstinate about change and she huffs and puffs every time I bring it up. Lol
Hello buzz how you doing? I subscribe to your channel great job watch you all the time 🙂
You mentioned about cable. I called up my cable company. My yearly subscription is up in July for the same subscription from a year ago went up $35 even after promotion credits unreal problem . The cable company don’t have competition monopoly its only Comcast and Verizon . but they have your hands tied. I’m trying to cut cost but the cable like everything else the past 3 years has gone up in price. And company’s are taking advantage my opinion. unreal take care buzz. Keep them coming your videos. Be safe.
I just can't see brick and mortar cable companies staying in business too long. Look at all the Rite Aids closing down. As a CEO you couldn't figure out the what ifs? Same with cable. You don't reduce costs and figure out how to survive, you're going the way of the dodo. Oh well, 10 more years and I'll call it a life. Lol. Buzz
@@BuzzRetirementGarage I was going to order out get a calzone $26. You hear me $26 for a small calzone even going out cost is high OK Buzz look forward to your next video.
@@Red23165 Couple weeks ago we ordered a large pizza and a gluten free pizza from a really good local pizza shop. With 10 wings and a tip it was $76. Wow. Calzone must be loaded with gold dust. Lol
Buzz
Plan g for me, I will sleep better at night .Clark Howard has a quote put dis in front of advantage plans Good if you want limitations and higher out of pocket
G is for Great! Sometimes though it's too expensive for people and I get that. Buzz
I am looking into supplement plans. Here in Wisconsin we have riders and normally skilled nursing care in the home is covered for 30 days the rider is 365 days. I will consider this rider. I think the biggest risk of being retired is running out of money will be health related. They can't turn you down when you signup at 65.
Never heard about riders. Must be through Advantage plans? If so, that's a good thing!
@@BuzzRetirementGarage Wisconsin is different from other states. The supplement can only have a rider. My thinking is if I need things done by a nurse it will never be a question of being covered. I am also looking at a high deductible rider because I have a sizable health savings account. Thanks for your time!
There’s still a lot of decisions to be made even when retired.
But now I have time to fully research them!
Buzz: It is not a question of Medigap plan vs an advantage plan. If you have part B Medicare you do not have to have a Medigap plan. I think you SHOULD have one but you don't have to have one. Also, under an N plan, you will typically pay co-pays that you may not have under a G plan.
That's true. Thank you. Buzz
I went with fiber optic internet and youtube tv. Dumped cable and never looked back.
No fiber in my area....yet. ATT has lines and the rep said in 8-12 weeks it should be available to me. YTTV seems to be a winner so far. Buzz
Buzz
1:20😂😂😂😂
Last time: You said you watch Cox. Lol
Hey Buzz, love the waterfall. Any fish there?
Carp, Bass, steelhead trout spring and fall.
Cricket wireless is $35 a month unlimited data no contract. No one should ever have a contract on her cell service in this day and age.
We have the T-mobile 55+ Magenta two lines unlimited $64 including tax. Not a bad deal for unlimited. Buzz
Comcast Unlimited Internet $35/month and $0/month for Roku TV. No need for such a high expense. Just my opinion.
Won't fit my wife's crack, I mean TV habits. Lol

I have never heard of data limits on home internet service. They weren’t talking about streaming on your cell phones were they?
I'm capped at 1,280 GB. They have a usage meter and I plugged in streaming for 20 hours a day. She turns it on at 6 am and I turn it off at 2 am. (Max usage) And just the TV apps would use 1,800 GB. I'm looking into it. Buzz
You have to sign up for Medicare both A and B during open enrollment 3 months prior or 3 months after turning 65 to avoid a lifelong penalty.
If you're already taking SS the government will sign you up automatically for A and B. Then, you can choose to take a supplement or Advantage Plan. If you're not already taking SS, then you're correct. You need to sign up for A and B.
