I could see using this concept in a temperature blanket, using the daily high and low colors together.
Oh SNAP I LOVE THAT IDEA!!! I was going to make one for each of my children on their 21st birthday from the year they were born! I live in TX so it's going to have a LOT of hot color on it. But this would be a way to make it not mostly orange red and yellow!
AWESOME IDEA!😍
thats a great idea
One blanket per season???🥰
Great idea!
I have saved scraps for years, always intending to use them. I followed this and have made 3 twin sized blankets. Yeah! The scrap basket is empty. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.!!
AnD I thought I was a hoarder👍that’s very impressive 😂
Good way to make keep sake blankets for our children.
if you lay the yarn across your beginning chain, you can work it in and never have to weave that end!!
Thanks so much for sharing, @chrislogan6067! That's a good one!! xx
That was the best magic knot tutorial
Oh I am so glad, Kristi Nodine! Thank you!! 🌸🌼🌺
I love this idea. I'm always begging for scraps. I love them. You're a great teacher. I love your happy scrappy.
Oh I am so glad, @susanmatthews9423! Thank you!! 🌸🌼🌺
Half double is my favorite stitch and I’ve made lots of baskets and handled bags with this 2 strand method. People love them. I even made a large scrap basket to hold all my scrap balls 🧶. Loads of fun! I love your knot joining method and will give it a try. Great tutorial!
I love how you join new yarn to old and no more weaving in end.....i'll never go back! Thank you, thank you, thank you!! ......Tara
Oh I am so glad, @pebblecreekmodels! Thank you!! 🌸🌼🌺
I used my scraps up before and donated to my oncologist's office for people's to use while they are getting chemo. I called it my colors of life blanket. ❤️ I love how you mixed the light and dark colors together!!! I think it's time to make another to donate with your pattern. Thank you for the idea. 💜❤️🌸
Oh how nice of you!!! xx!!
What a fabulous idea of donating
What a nice thing to do. Bless you.
Kimmy P That's so nice of you! I have cancer & the hospital I was at for treatment was fortunate enough to have people do this ongoing so we were each given one to keep. People donated yarn & the hospital had a couple of skeins with knitting needles in several baskets. They put those baskets throughout the oncology floor. Anyone there could knit a square or 2 or whatever they had time for. They'd leave the squares in the baskets. Volunteers would then put the squares together to make the blankets. It was such a nice idea, you knew alot of people contributed to make your blanket. It really meant alot to us.
That's awesome! Colors of Life! It sounds like a great idea to have all the cheery colors and it has to be comforting and therapeutic! Great Idea!
I’m new at this and I am having a hard time with the end of my blanket not straight your the only video who really showed me how to do it and I also am having a hard time with color change over wow I just learned so much from this video thank you so much, I feel more confident now that I can correct all my mistakes/ learning lessons .. so very happy I found your channel thank you again
Oh I am so glad, @melissasmith5904! Thank you!! 🌸🌼🌺
I'm going to start one of these scrap blankets. I've never known what to do with my odd balls and left overs, now I do. Thank you 😊
Great! I've been looking for scrap busting ideas. Been knitting and crocheting for over 40 years. Lots of leftovers!
Hi, @LisaBrook-rx2qj!! Thanks so much for sharing! 🌻🌺🌼
I am making the blanket now. The blanket coming out nice. Plus, I am also using black yarn for the main color. All I am doing just grap the yarn without looking what color the yarn.
That's awesome, @paulam610! Thank you!! 🌸👍🌺
I love this. I’m making me one I just started, thanks to you. I am so thankful that you showed how to tie those knots without having big knots all over. Thank you so much.👏😊
Very nice! Thanks for sharing!
I love that blanket. It looks scrumptious 💜
Thank you for being so detailed from how you choose the colors, to using 2 different crochet hooks to avoid curling, how to get crisp edges and how to change colors after 2 rows I’d possible. After watch many videos I finally feel I can actually make one of these scrap blankets.
Oh I am so glad it was helpful to you, tamia11 falanna! My other tutorials are here: ua-cam.com/play/PLpolLUf9SLHgx42hUZEW9HCfsU1oqRxbU.html Thank you!! 🌼🌸🌼
@@SecretYarneryok Great I will check them out! Thanks for sharing ❤And I made one and it came out totally awesome!! Thank You ❤❤❤
Love the magic knot.
Cool 😎 I’m ready to bust a stash 😁I love this blanket I wanna make one now to go along with all my handmade patchwork quilts that were recently handed down to me. When my mom died a couple months ago I was given all the handmade quilts from my memaw Baw Baw and my great grandmother some are over 100 yrs old. Like your join method fabulous ❤️👍
Hi, @jeannakelly4174!! So glad you loved it! So sorry to hear that! Thanks so much! 🌻🌺🌼
Beautiful! I'll have to try the magic knot.
I like this way to use up scraps of all lengths, and the black just brings it all together. Thanks!
I’ve been crocheting for years and never was confidant in knot tying, but this is awesome! Thank you so much for teaching me this method! I love it!
Awe! Thank you so much, Roxanne Fairchild! xx
Thankyou. So glad I saw your nice video.
LOVE how you taught the colour change! Life changing...
Thank you so much!
Nice blanket and technique!❤️thank you!
Very pretty I'm gonna have to give that a try
Love it! Time to pull my box of scraps out of storage. Just started using that magic knot in February. I love that there are no loose ends to weave thru, and the knot is hard to find.
I had never seen the magic knot yarn join before. Fantastic! It’s neat, strong and eliminates weaving in loose ends. Also love how you used light and dark together to create a variegated look. Thank you so much for sharing.
Oh I am so glad it was helpful to you, @jenny45Bravo! Thank you!! 🌼🌸🌼
Your method for joining yarn...... LOVE it! Thank You !!! " )
Excellent! Me too!!! xx
The magic knot is intriguing. I love making these type of scrap blankets, but I like using a consistent color alongside all the yummy scrap yarns.

Just love this have lot of bits can't wait to start making it .It will be pretty no matter what something made for no money because you already have it .God bless.
How awesome! You put alot of work into this blanket! Thank you for the tutorial and talking about darning needles! XXX

Oh I am so glad you like it, @teresaready5433! Thanks!🌻🌺🌼
Love it! Glad to see that someone holds their yarn like I do.
Oh I am so glad you loved it, @terryim4841! Thanks!🌻🌺🌼
Thank you for show the secret knot .God bless
Love the magic knot idea. I put my scraps in a mesh veggie/fruit bag to hang outside for birds to build nests with.
Just a heads up re doing that... I thought it sounded like a great idea when I first heard someone mention it, but later read that it's actually not good at all. Both the adults and the baby birds can get claws, feet, whatever, caught in the yarn fibres and not be able to free themselves.
Also unless the colors are neutrals, it is a bad idea, it draws predators to the nests.
sharon anderson = are you dumb, the string would tie to their legs as well as choke them; do you give string to your cat to swallow.
dills like you should never have been created.
Lovely blankets! I have been looking for quick and easy projects to use my overabundance of yarn. I have been doing Granny Squares for personal project for years but I really love this look.
Oh I am so glad, hippychick Duncan! Thank you!! xx
Thank you for your help. My scrap blanket is so beautiful that multiple want it. I used one strand of Bernat Blanket yarn and the other regular size 4 yarn. The blanket is so soft, thick and warm. I can’t wait to have more scraps.
That's awesome, Kris Shade! Congratulations!! 🌸👍🌺
Hi I'm new to your channel but love it. I used my scraps to make a stained glass blanket and it came out very pretty. You gave some good advice here

That's awesome, @joyjoyjoyfolie! Thank you!! 🌸👍🌺
Came back to remember how to continue my project from over a year ago, determined to finish it, it looks so pretty. Thank you for this tutorial on how to make a blanket using yarn scraps, as I have so much yarn from many other projects.

CHRISTA! That knot is so fab, I will be using it, it's so easy to do, no tails and you can't even find it in the work. I guess it's time to drag out all my scraps haaa love your blanket. It's time to make mine. "As soon as I'm done with my hexi cardis" ;) OH and the April CAL. HEHE

LOVE, LOVE this blanket!!! Thank you so much Christa for the awesome tutorial! Xxxx
Oh I am so glad you loved it, @BBknits! Thanks!🌻🌺🌼
I love your idea of combining a bright and dark yarn together! Thanks!
Oh I am so glad you loved it, @pamelasmith1699! Thanks!🌻🌺🌼
I made one using 2 strands and it created some beautiful combinations and it’s heavy.
With some of these other videos on how to make a scrap blanket, you seem to have to use your good full skein yarn to give it consistency like making every row a solid shade for the whole row. Seems to create more scraps 😂😂
Been crocheting for 40+ and never knew how to do that magic knot!!! Wow.. life changing!! Thank you so much!
Hi, Gerri T! It's a game changer, right?? I use it ALL the time now. LOVE it.
Love it!!
I do this too. I always say "warmth doesn't know colour", so use up those scraps!
These are my most wanted blankets!!
Thanks for the knot tip, too!!
Happy New Year! (2019)
Glad you like it, Deborah De Groot! Thank you!! xx
Wow very very nice Thank you
I need to make one of these blankets! Thank you for the tutorial on using up my stash of odds & ends of leftover yarn! 🧡🦒🧡

Oh my!! That is really pretty. Love it!
Oh I am so glad you liked it, Chronic Stitcher! Thanks!🌻🌺🌼
Love your explanation and visual of the magic knot. Now I will be able to follow along and do it. So happy, thank you

Thank you so much for making this video. I’ve made two blankets already and I’m working on #3. They are my most requested item from family members. They always argue over whose gonna get the one I’m working on at the time 😆😆😆😆😆 love love love the knot tip 🤗🤗🤗🤗 and keeping those straight edges is a breeze after following your video.
Excellent. My life changed after watching this video😆😆😆😆🙋🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ #happyHOOKER #crochetLIFE
Oh I am so glad, @latricedavis4311! Thank you!! 🌸🌼🌺
Beautiful! I love making scrap wool blankets! I have made many and continue to do so! I really like your idea though, thank you.
Oh fabulous Wanda! Would love to see your collection one day! Sounds beautiful!! xx!!
Such a useful tutorial! I'm planning on making a blanket for my auntie, she is blind so the colours aren't my main focus but the thickness & texture is ideal! She used to do yarncrafts but she has dementia now and unfortunately can't do them anymore, but her residential care facility is allowing families to give gifts again for the first time since covid started and this project is perfect for making a nice gift & for busting my yarn stash, thank you 😊
Hi, ayyyitsbeff!! That sounds like a perfect gift! It will be nice and heavy too - best sleep ever. Thank you! 🌻🌺🌼
I love scrap blankets bc I can actually watch tv or listen to something while doing my crocheting.
My other projects always have mistakes if I’m not paying attention to the pattern 😂😂
That's awesome, @retiredstitcher2729! Thank you!! 🌸👍🌺
Eu adoro a surpresa do resultado desse trabalho.
Fiz um cobertor usando esta técnica e fazendo quadrados até completar o tamanho. Ficou quentinho e lindo!!!
Wow! What a beautiful blanket
Thanks Ladonna! xx!
I love the way you try to hold everything. Also, I'm new and just started crocheting in February...so I haven't got much left over to make a blanket.
Me too. I want to make one of these even if I don’t have many scraps. But it comes out to be a thick blanket. Think I’ll make one anyway using my yarn randomly. Great instruction on doing the straight edge and the magic knot. No tails to weave in or only a few.
Beautiful blanket! What a great idea! Thanks for the tip on how to change colors. I find that very useful.
Glad you liked it, Betty! I do it almost all the time now. ;) xx!!
Beautiful! I made one of these last winter and I absolutely love the blanket. It's so cozy and warm. It's fun to see all the colors play out.
Oh I am so glad you liked it, @dbrh72! Thanks!🌻🌺🌼

Yarn Buster....good video ❤️
Oh I am so glad you enjoyed it, Visit Mema!! Thank you! 🌷🌺🌷
What a great idea I have so many yarns left and was thinking what to do so thanks a lot. I always seem to have issues with having a straight edge so thanks for the tip 👍
So glad to hear! xx!
I could probably make a whole family of scraptastic blankets lol. Should maybe do this someday soon. 🤔
Good to have one on the go, I think - through a scrap onto it in a few minutes, instead of throwing the scrap into a basket. ;) HUGS!
Awesome. I'm doing mine now
I'm a knitter, but when I need to bust my stash, I want to try this!
That's awesome, rphnick! xx
In watching this video presentation, o finally figured out the difference between a double crochet, and, the half double crochet you produce in this video! I'm a lefty-I crochet left handedly-backwards left to right. Now I can bust my scrp-stash and make a cool project from all the left-overs! ❤️😇👍🧸🐻🧶Doug
That's awesome, Douglas Radowick! Most of my videos are also in left handed, if it helps you. Here is the playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLpolLUf9SLHhwFXu5cYJbJOuqJT0aJwxD.html
Thank you!! 🌸👍🌺
