  • CCA C10 review! Less than $5 per driver! What a ridiculous metric to measure the cost of earbuds. CCA packs in a TON of drivers and the total package will cost around $40. This is a crazy brute force build of audio hardware, so how does it stack up to the competition? Let's take a listen!

    KZ ZS10 Pro would be interesting comparison.

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 5 років тому +1

      Gabriel Chan Cheok Zhen YES! I just got the KZ ZS10 PRO and I’m tempted to grab a pair of C10. The cable alone sells for $15. So for $36 it’s a VERY tempting deal. Even if they both sound the same having the more rounded face plate is nice for the days that the ZS10 PRO is digging into the cartilage of my right ear.

    • @gabrielchancheokzhen2656
      @gabrielchancheokzhen2656 5 років тому

      @@Assimilator702 I totally know how you feel about the cartilage discomfort issue. I have a KZ ZSN which has a similar shell. Although mine is with pressure on the cartilage bridge above the "concha" of my ear if I sleep with them on. So I'm looking for buds with a structure similar to the TRN IM1 HOPING to alleviate the pain. The only issue is with so many chi-fi out and limited funds I have to patiently wait for reviews. Hopefully you're satisfied with your ZS10 Pros as I'm thinking of getting one just because of the soundstage 😅

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 5 років тому +1

      Gabriel Chan Cheok Zhen I bought a pair of ZSN PRO last night. After wearing my ZS10 PRO for several hours last night my ear wasn’t irritated like it was when I first started wearing them. My right ear has a little less padding around the cartilage but it’s possible my ear adapted after a few hours. For $22 I gave the ZSN PRO a try since the consensus on Head-FI is that the CCA C10 is a downgrade from the ZS10 PRO. In your case considering you’re sleeping with them you need something with smooth edges. I have the DMG and DM6 and those are super comfortable. I never know I’m wearing them however I never sleep with them.

    • @gabrielchancheokzhen2656
      @gabrielchancheokzhen2656 5 років тому

      @@Assimilator702 I have been eyeing the DMG for awhile but I'm wary about spending 3 times the price of the ZS10 Pros. Considering you have both, which in your opinion gives the best bang for your buck. Should I just save up for the DMGs or just pull the trigger on the ZS10 Pros. Just curious. Lol

    • @Assimilator702
      @Assimilator702 5 років тому +1

      Gabriel Chan Cheok Zhen I would play it safe and go for the DMG. It’s better for multiple genres. It’s great for Metal or any aggressive music with very forward distorted guitars. DM6 can get a bit hot in the upper mids/lower treble. For music that’s more relaxed the DM6 is nice and gives a good sense of the studio and that sense of black background. It’s great for Jazz/Fusion where there’s more dynamics to the music. So DMG is a better all-rounder for being more versatile for a wider genre of music. The DM6 actually sounds darker in the upper treble. Hihats and crash cymbals sound very realistic and you get a sense of their body where the DMG you get a bit more sizzle added on top. Not bad but not as accurate. It’s a bit of a toss up considering the styles of music you listen to. But apparently the DM7 fixes the problems of the DM6. So I’m done buying budget iems and waiting a bit to grab a set of DM7. But if you’re thinking of spending $50......just spend an extra $90 and get the DMG. If you have to keep it under say $75......the KZ ZS10 PRO is the closest budget iem I have to the DMG. The ZS10 PRO might even be a bit better than the DMG for certain things but I haven’t listened to them back to back yet. Price is not a true indicator of performance anymore. Watch Bad Guy Good Audio Reviews video on the ZS10 PRO vs DMS vs KZ AS16. He was surprised at the results and had to re shoot the video.

    I got my CC16s 2 days ago and cannot use them. The shell is massive and no matter the different tips, and positions I try, it ends up being too uncomfortable. The tonal balance wasn't to my preference either, but I did love the imaging in these. They impressed me with complex music, as it never made it sound muddy or compressed.
    However, due to the comfort problems, I'll probably sell them or give them to someone with dumbo ears.

    Single driver IEM's can sound absolutely stellar. The Etymotic ER4XR is one of the best in the world and those are single driver. More drivers doesn't automatically mean better. But multi-driver designs does seem to be a thing. FiiO is releasing a new one soon (that will cost considerably more than this) that will have a gigantic 13.6 mm dynamic driver for bass, and four balanced armatures for the rest. Intriguing, but time will tell.

    From what I can tell of multiple reviews that know what they are talking about, these seem to be overrated (especially on the Amazon store). I would love to try them out and for $40 then that isn't bad for a price point (it is interesting on how China can produce these little wonders, even if they don't always function as advertised).
    I am curious to see the response to the 16 drivers although I am not convinced that quantity beats quality. Will be waiting to see that in a later video.
    As for these, I wouldn't use them as my main pair but for an experiment, they seem nice. I would like to see some hifi reviews like the Sony MDR-7550 as they are considered legendary for IEMs and am considering on getting them.
    All in all, great video. Was enjoyable, informative and about a unique product (especially at this price point).

      It's tough to say "overrated" when not that long ago we were all freaking out about the TRN V80. It's kind of awesome that we're facing this kind of competition, where this kind of performance is met with a "cool, eh" reaction.

      What you wanting high impedance for?

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  5 років тому +2

      You want to be really careful to NOT overdrive IEMs. One, they're literally in your ear canal, so tweaking the volume too high can give your ears an unpleasant shock. Two, those little drivers are tiny, and the amp on the LG can distort or possibly even damage that hardware if you crank it. Even expensive stage gear these days is around 16-24ohms, so they likely wont trigger the louder amp stage on the LG. So I would look at something nearer 16ohms if you really want something loud. The QUALITY shouldn't change so long as you enable the HiFi DAC. It'll pump a SUPER clean signal to your ears.

      Fiio X5 3rd gen and an EchoBox and a Creative SBXG6 and a Focusrite 6i6. I don't run all the old DAPs and mixers and toys that I used to. An LG competes VERY well against most mid-range DAPs.

    more drivers doesn't necessarily mean better sound, in case of KZ and CCA they don't achieve better sound with these no name cheap drivers, if those would be knowles drivers or sonjon drivers for those prices then hell yes but believe me and don't let them fool you, a single quality BA or DD driver can easily outperform 6 cheap no name drivers

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  5 років тому

      No one is disputing that, but right now these are likely going up against EarPods. If you had your pick between open ear single drivers vs cheap multi-drivers, what would you pick?

      @@SomeGadgetGuy even the mid tier AS10 outright destroys anything beats and apple ever produced that much is for sure, i was merely trying to imply that KZ is notorious for throwing as many drivers as possible into the ring to lets say impress the masses :) i actually like KZ but sometimes people claim to much BS which happened to me, i bought the AS10 because a guy wrote that they compete with his campfire audio andromeda and i actually believed that lmao. they are good for the 50 USD i paid even excellent but they don't outperform IEMs double or thrice the price which some people say on the internet, btw i love your audio reviews and was back in the day only subscribed to pocketnow because of your real audio reviews and un-subbed when they stopped them :)

    • @SomeGadgetGuy
      @SomeGadgetGuy  5 років тому

      Yeah. We couldn't figure out a way to make the audio and camera reviews work. YT revenue wasn't pulling in enough to offset the costs, and at the time, they were giving away sponsor slots for WAY too cheap. The only "real" reviews that got shared were for popular phones, and no one seemed much interested in supporting them. It never seemed to click with the PN audience. I had to move them over to Patreon just to help subsidize, but compared to how long they take to produce, I can't do as many in a year for what money they bring in.
