KZ zs10 pro X are gonna blow your mind with their tuning, comfort and definitely price! Many pro musicians in my country have bought a second pair for a backup and I personally have some experience in music production. So be prepared to fall in love with them 😉

When my church switched over to in-ears, we bought a bunch of the $100 Shure sets, and we all hated them. I started buying budget in-ears like these and recommending them to everyone on the team. I have used the KZ ZS10 Pro's on stage every week for several years now. I just recently broke them, though, and switched to the KZ ZSTx. I have also used the TRN-V80 at home for a while now. These cheaper in-ears with multiple drivers just sound so much better than the single-driver Shures, and seem to last longer, too...
Thanks for doing this wrap-up - I can send this link to new band members when they are ready for their own sets.

Listening experiences really vary. I typically like a bumped low end and dropped high end to avoid sibilance. One good thing about his suggestions is how many multi-driver sets there are, which means there's a lot of equalizing potential.

@@kennhernIsn't crin notoriously known for liking overly bass boosted and sibilant highs aka v shaped iems?
His own collab iems are heavily bass boosted.

    • @kennhern
      @kennhern Рік тому +6

@@Empty12345 you're confusing V shape with Harman tuning. Harman's main boost frequencies are at the sub bass and around 3k, but leaves the mids quite flat. True flat tuning sounds dull, so a bit of boost in the bass and treble areas is needed. Look at the frequency response graphs of Salnotes Zero and Truthear Zero, both are going for the Harman tuning of some sort while not dropping the mids to oblivion like KZ does.

KZ DQS are great for gaming. I tried the Kz Zs10 pro X but the gunshots caused me fatigue and discomfort. The DQS are perfect for FPS games 0:09 like Call of Duty, Battefield, etc. (I game in a Ps5 and the sound isn’t negatively affected).

For 20 bucks with a flat eq curve the 7HZ Salnotes Zero are pretty good. I've used 2 KZ sets and they are too shouty in the higher frequencies. I have 2 different sets I'm trying now and the Salnotes Zero are great for 20 bucks.. And if you can get over the horrible packaging I just got Truthear Zero which have better separation but are 2x the cost.

I've been using the AS10s for 4-5 years now. My only complaint is that they are a bit larger than the other enclosures and don't fit as "snug" in my ears. I've tried the ZS10 Pros and they fit much better but have a congested mids sound to me. My son talked me into try Moodrop Aria - they reminde me A LOT of the ZS10 Pros. Based on this I bought a set of Bmasters. They arrived yesterday and I only plugged them in to "get a reference". I saw another comment about how they sound like a "blanket" over everything, that some upper mids are missing. That was my initial thought - but also that I need to compare what I hear while I'm playing to what I hear in recorded mixes of the same tone as I've found those two aren't always consistent.
Regardless - THANK YOU for putting this together!!! I've been on the lookout for new IEMs for a year-ish trying to find something that sounds as good/clarity as the AS10s in a bit smaller enclosure for a better long-term fit. This video is helpful.

I'm shocked to see KZ in there too. I'm new to IEMs, but my first pair is by KZ and it's absolutely bullshitting on frequency response. They list 7hz-40khz. These things can't even produce 40hz worth a damn, much less anything lower. They are very clearly missing a massive portion of the lower frequency range. Misleading specs makes me doubt a brand entirely.

I had cancer and lost some serious hearing and without aids, with a lot of room noise, I can lose the looper coming out of my amp all together. So bummed. Nice roundup, the only gripe I have will every single off the shelf IEM is the stupid round tips provided. The holes in your ears are oval, so getting a proper seal is a nightmare! I have seen oval tips available separately now, but why don't manufacturers supply them? I have had a 3 different noise-cancelling earphones/buds (won't call them IEMs) from Bose, and they all fit perfectly straight from the box. Oval tips to match the shape of your ear, and those 'stay hear' things on top make them comfortable enough to wear literally all day- and I have. Bose stopped making cabled earphones some time ago, and Bluetooth is useless for stage use, so Bose are out of the game they could excel at.
Recently bought a pair of custom moulded dual driver IEMs, and while the fit is perfect, the sound quality for the crazy price is just shocking- apart from the reasonable bass, they sound like those crappy earphones you get free with your mobile phone! Will be making a video about them in the not too distant future...

Great video! I’m getting ready to make my first IEM purchase, but have one big holdup: sizing. I’m 5’6”, so have smallish ears (nothing crazy though). So I’m wondering if BASN, KZ or even CCA have a good chance at fitting. It seems like the CCA and KZ brands tend to run on the chunkier side. Do you have any feel for the fit of various types. Probably end up with a trial and error process, although I’d prefer to avoid that as much as possible! I’ve been looking at the BMaster, CCA C12, and KZ ZS10 Pro.

@@HeyWorshipLeader KZ IEMs tend to favor a more "exciting" tuning than a neutral one. This leads to exaggerated bass and highs that may not represent what really is coming from the source. It was only until they dabbled in the budget neutral tuning space recently with the KZ ZVX. Also, KZ was exposed in the past as having fake multiple driver IEMs (which was later revealed to have only the dynamic driver working after all).
If you want recommendations, here are some budget IEMs with neutral tuning currently available:
      - 7Hz Salnotes Zero
      - Tangzu Wan'Er
      - Truthear Hola
      - maybe the KZ ZVX, if you want to stick with KZ
All of the above are ~$20, maybe even less in some stores like Linsoul.
If you want a bit more bass, then the Truthear Zero is fine, although this is more expensive at ~$35

Hello Jimmy. Thanks for the great vid! What tips do most of these have (foam or rubber)? Most of our team uses the old tried and true KZ ZSTs but we switch out the stock rubber tips for foam to get a better seal. Wondering if using foam tips on all of these might have “leveled the playing field” a bit more and affected your assessments. Thanks again and take care.

  • @CitAllHearItAll

For the BASN, put the plugs in your ears first, then rotate the cable behind your ears. Because they spin 360, you don’t have to consider cable position while putting them in.
I have a pair. They don’t sound good to me. Blanket feel. Good bass and decent highs. The high-mids are not there. Makes everything sound bagged. Guitar tones don’t sound as textured as they should.

I've been using the old Shure SE215's since....forever. I tried some $100 Westones that got stepped on before that. I find that as a bass player (mostly) what makes the biggest difference is using as long a foamy tip as I can find so it gets down in my ear. The little rubber things just never do it for me. I recently got the 3 driver Drumeo ear buds. Not sure who makes them but they look very similar to some of these and the case is identical to the 2nd pair. Unfortunately they take a different size foam ear piece and I can't find one long enough to really work. I usually end up back with the Shures eventually.

I really enjoyed watching this very educational video, many thanks! I'm an advanced age mainly electric guitar player on my worship team and using CCA 10's. They are a big step up from the Shure SE215's I was using, but I'm still not very happy with the tonality of my guitar using the CCA's. I also sing backup, so I have pretty much the whole Aviom mix in my ears and need to hear the vocals clearly. I'm leaning toward getting the KZ AS 10 or ZAR, possibly the AS 16 Pro. Which of these might you recommend for my situation, or do you have any alternate ideas? Seems like KZ has new models every week, hard to keep up. Thanks 🙂

I have the KZ AS-10's and I have to say I was impressed with the sound quality for the price... as with all, good quality foam inserts are a must. Set lasted about a year of everyday use, then one of the internal connections became loose, probably could have disassembled and repaired it, but for the cost, I just got another set... at least I have spare parts for the future maybe 🤣
