    For anyone who's working on doing a handstand (I'm currently working on it and making great progress) but this is a warning/lesson for those who may need a reminder: If you're fatigued don't continue and if you aren't strong enough for certain progressions WORK UP TO THEM. You will severely hinder your progress if you do so and injure yourself (like I did). It's OKAY you can't do a progression yet, be consistent with lower ones and work up (wall handstand holds, pike push ups, pseudo planche, frog stance, etc). Do not rush yourself and be patient with where you are.

    • @yungthug2403
      @yungthug2403 4 роки тому

      do it against the wall the way he said was the scariest, that's the easiest way, chest to wall, you don't fall if you keep pressing with your fingers and just learn to open your shoulder for about 30 seconds in that position and then start to lean your shoulders above your wrists and play with your palms and fingers
      if you feel like your falling let go with 1 hand and turn, you will automatically fall from the side instead of backwards, let go with your left hand, fall to the left, let go with right hand, fall to the right. but i also recommend doing HSPU against the wall, i'd say it's best to learn how to get up into a handstand by pressing into it, do shoulder mobility exercises, core exercises like hollow body hold, when you do HSPU aginst the wall always squeeze your core and butt, and legs, this is howi learned how to do it and it all depends if you doing other training, or purely just want handstand, if it's just handstand, i recommend greasing the groove tactic, where you do 50% of your total effort in about 5-10 minutes and 4 times a day, and then 1 day with rest before and after do a complete workout to failure from handstand holds and pressing, do this and you'll have the handstand in about 3 months without fail from pressing up into it ((if you can do 30-40 press ups from the start like i did)) I was also doing front lever training at the same time, still am. so i do get some lower back strength from that also. but the absolute most important thign, is getting them handstand wall press ups without breaking your form and holding open shoulder for 30 seconds, if you can't do that, don't even try without the wall.

    I'm older (77) and decided all my weightlifting (press, bench press, squats, deadlifts) had given me all the strength I needed to begin handstands. WRONG. Only standing presses give you strength in the direction you need and I was weak in the press. So I've begun doing those inverted pike holds to help strengthen myself properly. What your video reminded me of was this is like watching a baby learn to stand and walk. First the baby crawls around and builds up some muscular strength. Then, when the baby can stand, all those muscles have to learn how to coordinate between each other to keep the body upright. Finally, when the baby can stand steadily for awhile, it learns to coordinate the muscles to put one foot out and then the other foot out. All your three months of kicking up against the wall were also laying the foundation of strength and coordination in your hands, wrists, arms, shoulders and torso. That's a lot to learn so of course it takes time. I'm on your Day 1. I hope I live long enough to gain the skills and strength necessary to do the handstand.
