I could read it on the box otherwise just saying I was guessing. The black might take on a color if straight pigment is used by it can fade a little. Using the “Tintable” version, the pigments should come from a paint store with a mix for this purpose. You’re really good getting back to people on comments I just had a question about the tent that I picked up they said it’s acrylic and I’m not sure if it’s the kind where I need to mix the Hardner before I add it to the tent or like a 2K it has everything but the binders and it’s very watery
Ok so if you are adding the tint to your raptor liner I would tend to think the hardener for the raptor liner would talk care of the tint and the liner together, not sure why it’s watery? Where did you get it from?
Are you able to get back in the box to spray a second coat or do you have to do it from outside the box? Is the drying time in between coats long enough so that you won't leave foot prints?
I wouldn’t step on anything until at least 12 hours but preferably 24 so if you want to spray more than one coat you would not want to step or lean on anything recently sprayed, so have a game plan ready before you start
I’d say you should have at least a 30 gallon compressor, with the raptor liner you have to spray it at a pretty high pressure and you want your compressor to be able to keep up mine is a 80 gallon ingersoll rand, thanks for watching the video
I would remove the masking as soon as possible because the longer is dries the better chance of pulling the liner and causing tape strands from semi dry material clumping on the tape while you remove it
so far best explanation on liner, and really nice colour, I am going to do my rocker panels and plastic pieces and I would rather have the sam colour as you and not have to paint it black, on a sprinter Vn

just curious about the kits you mentioned, how many quarts were those kits? Got a crew cab short box truck and topper I'll be lining and was thinking I could get away with 5 gallons but now thinking I'll need more. If you were talking about the 6 quart kits and recommending 4 kits for a crew cab I'll be getting 5 assuming my topper will be a whole kit aswell.
So each kit is 1 gallon of material and I think I used 5 kits and had some extra so I’d say go with 1 extra kit once you start spraying you don’t want to run out, if you don’t use it you can return it
Idk 🤷♂️ I just did it this way but I’m sure your method would work but I didn’t want to mix more product then was needed so I opted to do the one at a time instead of mixing larger amounts
Mike Mc preparation is everything the actual spraying is easy, do your prep work with care and attention to detail and your project will be great! If you rush and skip steps then you won’t get the desired results! Thanks for watching
Thank you! I would have to know what size project you are doing but as a rule of thumb at least a 30 gallon 220 volt compressor with some sort of a water filter system
My worker sprayed most of my dump trailer about a month ago with raptor liner, if I want to add another coat should I sand and or wire wheel then go for it or what do you suggest?
I’d wash it good with some dawn dish soap, scuff it with a 120 grit maybe 80 grit But just give it a good uniform scuff and give the new material something to bite into, then spray away.
You can roll on. Use a high-nap roller (like for textured walls) and cut into the corners using a dabbing motion with the brush to get some texture. That said, if you can rent or borrow a compressor you'll save time and crawling around in the bed. It only has an hour pot life. Either way prep, prep, prep.
Would you say it's easy to make spray marks and shiners with this stuff? I'm thinking about trying it but I don't want tk see a bunch of spray marks when the light shines off it
With the raptor gun that has a nozzle that’s adjustable for a better fan pattern and getting your overlap just right is the best chance of avoiding that. however depending on the color and surface that may affect your final product
I've got a 2 car garage that doesn't fit my entire truck it in it. So I'm spraying the whole bed one day and the cab another day probably in a week. I should be fine to do so right?
Yes I would suggest to either wet or put car masking paper down the overspray will mess up your floors and it will stick to your shoes bad, also can get on surrounding items not bad idea to throw plastic on any thing you want to keep nice
Mines a 100 gallon ingersoll rand I thinks it’s 20hp don’t remember off hand even Being that size I wish at times I had a larger compressor 6 hp 20 gallon is a great size for home use but could never keep up for shop use I have a 60 gallon husky at home which is over kill but worth it
I think about 30-45 minutes which is probably a little Longer than needed but you don’t want to rush if you spray on to much it may not cure properly or it could run or sag
It’s not like the overspray you get from automotive paint however I would suggest to cover and mask anything you don’t want raptor lined at the higher pressures for spraying it can get into places you wouldn’t think it would,
It can be sanded smooth or all the way off depending on how thick it is, also I’d say the older the finish is the easier it will sand, I’d say 80 or 120 grit to really rip through the liner
Alexander Ortiz if your using automotive base coat there is no hardener needed, add your base coat for your desired color and then add the raptor liner hardener just make sure your amounts are correct. Either measure or do buy weight using a scale
Go lions😂 btw Amazon won't take this spray kit back. Bought black changed my mind and got told contact the manufacturer as amazon didn't want to deal with the hazardous chemicals. We will sell it and handle it for a profit but won't risk taking a loss on it..
Lol I didn’t realize the similarities in the colors to the team colors till you pointed it out, I have to say my mom was very disappointed they didn’t make it to the big show
It will be tough that compressor is going to run constantly to keep up you have to spray the liner at like 40 or more psi, that compressor is gonna be working to keep up and also I would be concerned that if it’s running all the time it may cause water to get into your spray which is not gonna be good I would say try to use a large compressor is possible
Have you banged it up yet? How does it hold up? just bought a kit for the bed of my Ranger. I’m mainly in it for the looks but I need it to be tough when I put stuff back there. I figure if one kit covers a standard 1500 bed it should be pretty thick on my Ranger.
Chris Sagredo it’s pretty tough looks the same as it did right after I sprayed it hopefully the one kit covers the whole bed, it doesn’t seem to go as far as people say material wise, if you spray it too thick you may run low good luck on your project thanks for watching 👍🏻
At least a solid 30 gallon 110v and even that may be a little too small I have a 80 gallon twin cylinder compressor, if you use a small compressor you may have to let it run to catch up it may not be able to recover from constant spraying
They recommend 180-220 grit in the directions. I had a boat load of 320 grit so I went with that so far 6 months later and it hasn’t peeled or chipped at all. But your right I did take a risk with the 320 grit, thanks for checking the video and commenting 👍🏻
@@notchback93 Hi! I know what you mean, and i want to thank you for very detailing video. I`ve learn from mistakes, but have lot to learn. I`m beginner, and like to learn from some, who has determined of those methods with different chemicals. I think i subscribe your channel, Thank you for kind answer..! (Sorry my English, i am "Finnish", LOL..)
Can I assume this is much easier than painting a car? I plan on using this on my paint flaking SUV. SUV is not worth spending $5k to repaint. Can you shoot it outside without too many issues? 70-90* F
So the prep is super important, doesn’t matter if it’s paint or raptor liner. It is more forgiving as far as actually spraying it but you need to keep the same distance from the panel and try to overlap your spray patterns as best as possible. You can definitely shoot it outside but try to keep it in the shade and obviously there’s always a chance of debris getting into the liner but not much you can do about that
About how many ounces do you think the job is? I have a 2001 dodge 2500 same body style and wanting to do all but inside the bed, looking at ordering the 8 Lt kit, is that enough?
I would also like to know the answer ... want to do the same truck but a Chevy and not sure how many kits ... you said 3 kits but is it the 4l kits ? Thanks Looks great by the way ! Lol
When you say 5 kits, how many liters are you saying per kit. I see 1 liter up to 8 liter kits on ebay. I have a small single cab dodge dakota. The bed is already lined black. I just want to do the rest of the truck white. (Bumpers, mirrors, plastics are already all black) the truck is white. I will be spraying it white. Do you think 1, 8 liter kit is enough? Thats what I already purchased.
Ronald J Smith it’s gonna be close there’s some factors to consider, like how thick you spray it, whats the color of the truck your spraying, if your spraying white but covering red paint it will take more coats to cover the original color, are you planning on doing inside the door jambs, all these factors will change the amount of product you use I’d say to buy one more gallon kit that will give you 12 liters. a kit is 1 gallon which is 4 liters
The truck is factory white, so I'll be putting white on white. I was planning on doing the door jams, i was also planning on doing the head liner as well. (Previous owner used a 1000 staples to put a sheet on it) I will buy 1 more kit. Just to be safe. Just sucks, buy the kit from ebay, plus $40 shipping to Hawaii 🥴 . Cheapest I can get it for is $162 per kit.
Ronald J Smith it will be close with 2 kits, I would spray it nice and even and try to stretch it and if you get a nice even coat and have some leftover you can do a second coat after about 45 minutes
I really appreciate the step by step video on Raptor bed liner as I’m getting ready to apply this product to the bed of a John Deere Gator 4X6 and I have no experience doing such a project. Thank you. My only criticism would be your terrible audio. There are lots of solutions ranging from an inexpensive Amazon buy lavaliere mic (around $50) with several qualified reviewers presenting in depth testing reviews on UA-cam, all the way up to several thousands of dollars for the high end microphones. I needed something for the audio when making instructional videos (not music or movie theater sound) and bought on of the wireless lavaliere mics off Amazon and it works perfect for my needs. I’m just pointing out that you don’t have to spend a fortune to improve your audio. Either way, thanks again for making and sharing this video and good luck with your future endeavors.
Appreciate you watching but I don’t take the channel seriously enough to get anymore in depth than shooting off my iPhone and editing right then and there! So the quality is what it is!

Probably 2 late of a answer but I don’t see a problem with that
If you don't spray everything on the same day does the spray gun need to be cleaned ? If so how is it cleaned ?

It’s not like the overspray you get from automotive paint however I would suggest to cover and mask anything you don’t want raptor lined at the higher pressures for spraying it can get into places you wouldn’t think it would,
Bare metal needs sealer first . Adhesion promoter helps.
Both are true and good tips

Comments from Canada EH! LOVE THE SILVER i am going to read all the comments to se if anyone else is on that colour
You can definitely shoot it outside but try to keep it in the shade and obviously there’s always a chance of debris getting into the liner but not much you can do about that
@@notchback93 - thanks!
Thanks
Looks great by the way ! Lol
Probably 2 late for a response but I’d double that amount 4 1 gallon kits maybe 5 if you spray it heavy
Hell of a video
Thank you! I appreciate it
great run down thankyou
Glad you enjoyed it and hopefully it helps with any future projects you may have
How many bottles did you used looks like more then the pack gave you
5-1 gallon kits
What a great job, I really like the blue and silver colour, can u share the both colours code or name?
Walid Taha both colors I mixed myself with colors I had lying around if you watch the video when we spray the truck I believe I show what I used
When you say 5 kits, how many liters are you saying per kit.
(Previous owner used a 1000 staples to put a sheet on it)
I will buy 1 more kit.
@@RonJaySmith I am in Canada and a 4 litre black kit is @250 plus $25 ship from Amazon, we get dinged bad up her eon exchange
How’s it holding up, is 220 still good enough?
Yes it’s ok but I’d go 180 or even 80 grit
what air compressor did you use
Ingersoll Rand 80 gallon 10hp
Good video
You know it’s my favorite video I’ve done, I had my friend help me shoot it without him it wouldn’t be as good.
@@notchback93 good to know.....thanks
How much we need for 1 truck 2 liter or 4 liter
Mandeep Gill if it’s the size of the Dodge Ram I sprayed it took 4 complete 4 liter kits, it may even take a extra kit if you also do inside the bed
Car Kulture how many coat we need
Mandeep Gill I always do 2 coats first coat is a heavier coat the wait about 45 minutes to a hour and do a second lighter coat
How much psi you use?
He used 50 psi
What that other guy said
boss i need raptor liner kit for Bangladesh how Purchase
Amazon
Now get a load of gravel dump in, and unload by hand shovel. See how if holds out to rough abuse.
Had it for 4 years made a bunch of scrap metal runs, plus tons of heavy abuse and it was excellent 👍🏻 I would recommend to do this to any hardcore work truck
Do not mix your other bottles the hardener will change the viscosity and the texture will be different
The texture is largely dictated by the air pressure of the gun, the speed that you spray and the width of the fan on the gun
So 16 litres to do a ranger without the box? I bought the 8 litre kit thinking i was set 🤡
Wow that’s a good amount of material, it is hard to remember but I think I purchased 7 kits and used 6 in total.
I am going to watch t again and again until I see if I can figure out how yOu bit the cray colour, but if you see this comment I was hoping you might be bale to reply to me to give me a formula please, I will subscribe as well, Thanks you, I feel more confident ad=fter watching your video
They grey I mixed on the spot with some random paints I had hanging around so I can’t really give you a exact mix
THEY MAKE A GUN WITH ADJUSTABLE NOZZLE....DOES MUCH MORE CONTOLLED SPRAY...
It makes a lot of difference
80g never nothing over !!
You know the right dose is very important for getting the right outcome 💪🏻
Sprayed my whole xterratruck
So I gotta be a drug dealer to use this stuff? What DIY’er has a scale in their shop? (not me) Anybody got a link to a vid that shows mixing this stuff without needing a scale?
I bought my scale at Walmart for 10.00 it’s just a basic food scale but you can just eyeball it, its NOT rocket science. This ain’t NASA LOL 😂
thank you for sharing
How many bottles in total ??
5, 1 gallon kits and had some left over
