One of the greatest songs ever written and performed by THE VOICE!!! I think this song applies to the road of life itself. It makes you really appreciate what you have and cherish your loved ones even more so for time is short and it does go by quickly. Merry Christmas everyone🙏🙏🙏
you make me cry, cause back then I did, danced with someone special , it was back when parties were different and music was music, he was the most amazing voice back then
Journey, was huge back in the day. Check out some early tunes like "Lights," "Any way you want it," Wheel In the Sky," as well as "Open Arms," "Don't Stop Believin,"
If you've reacted to Faithfully then you have have to react to Open Arms. Amber will absolutely love the song. It was nearly everyone's date song in the early 80's!
When I was young, I thought the words were "I come to you with broken arms..." I thought it was a really deep commentary on how heartbreak makes it difficult to embrace a new relationship.🤔
Jay will love it too, because we all know he’s a ‘Piano Man’ at heart!! And the piano plays a very close 2nd place to Steve Perry’s vocals on this song, which are noting short of impeccable.
I remember I had a bunch of friends who loved death and speed metal bands. But even they would throw back their heads and sing along to Journey when their songs would come on the radio. Only when around close friends of course. In public, among strangers, they were "too metal" to admit it. LOL
This was the song my wife and i had our first dance too. I was a traveling musician. We are still together after 30 years and play this song every anniversary. Thumbs up guys!
Journey is a great American rock band formed in 1973 by former members of Santana, Steve Miller Band & Frumious Bandersnatch. Journey had their biggest commercial success between 78-87, when Steve Perry was lead vocalist. They had so many hits including "Don't Stop Believin'", "Open Arms", "Who's Crying Now", "Still They Ride", "Wheel in the Sky", "Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)", "Faithfully", "Send Her My Love" & "After the Fall".
Truly, my favorite version of the band was before Perry joined in 1977 or so. I saw them live at Foothill College in 1975. They were an awesome progressive rock band with 3 great albums with hits like LOOK INTO THE FUTURE, ON A SATURDAY NIGHT and much more (LOVE the instrumental TOPAZ). They had so much more potential in this direction. But then their producer made them take on Perry, and they became a commercial pop success as the producers hoped. But now they play sweet songs instead of bad-ass rock songs, so even though I like the new hits I consider them second class to the original band. THIS is the sht... ua-cam.com/video/CmvP1hdYKNs/v-deo.html And I consider this their greatest work ever: ua-cam.com/video/5i38vu0HMvM/v-deo.html
Steve Perry …. The voice! It doesn’t get much better then Steve Perry! Having seen them so many times love, his voice is still perfect even live ! Next time you do them pick a live!!
Jon Bon Jovi gave him that..."The Voice" nickname. Randy Jackson Of American Idol fame also was a member of Journey in their early days. Having worked with Steve Perry, he said Steve had the best Rock Voice in the business.
I cry at this one every time, as well. That line, “Two strangers learn to fall in love again; I get the joy of rediscovering you…” I lose it, and start balling!! Steve Perry’s voice is absolute perfection! ❤️❤️ Great reaction! Thank you guys!!
I'm with you, the line, " I get the joy of rediscovering you". Is my favorite line. That feeling of basically falling back in love with someone, remembering why u fell in love.
My late husband was a truck driver. He would be gone for 30 days to 3 months at a time. I was left to raise our 3 sons alone while he was away. He would tell me that he dedicated this song to me...often. He was away because of his family's needs...but we had to make that sacrifice of life without him. This song really brought out the feels for me too. Thank you for this reaction video. Y'all are amazing.
That’s a sacrifice that few think about. You are an exceptionally strong person. I was a stay at home dad and that daily loneliness was challenging in an era when that was rarely done. But my wife came home each night. I appreciate what you have overcome 🌜💨
This song is one of the greatest love songs of all time. You wouldn't think they could ever come close to this song but, they sure did with When You Love a Woman. Just as great as this song.
Hmm, I look at it like this... Faithfully talks about the struggles of maintaining a relationship despite the demands of being a musician. When You Love a Woman is more an observational approach to what makes love. Send Her My Love is about the regret of losing love. All truly excellent songs, but for my money, I'll go with Stay Awhile as journey's best love song, and one of the best all-time - an absolutely gorgeous song that from start to finish that expresses love in a beautiful way. From the desperate desire to just be with that special woman, to the expression of trying to impress and win her. Then the powerful, climactic crescendo at the end, the strings come in, and the rich harmony's culminate perfectly...
April 30, 1988, this song was played at my wedding to Charlette. I have tears flowing now. August 23, 2016 Charlette died. This is one of those songs that always reminds me of Char. For many years my best friend and LOVE.
Steve Perry is a national treasure. I'm 32 and a metal head since I was 10. But my mother raised me on Journey, Boston, Bee Gees, etc. I know a good voice.
Keyboardist Jonathan Cain started writing this on a napkin, inspired while riding their diesel travel bus. Of course it was for his wife, but, he wrote it for all of them and it ends up being for every musician and everyone who travels for work and misses their loved ones. ❤️ Every once in a while a legendary song really is written in 20 minutes.
Journey (with Steve Perry) is such a wonderful group. You really need to listen to: Who's Crying Now, Separate Ways (World's Apart), Don't Stop Believing, Still they Ride, Open Arms, Send Her My Love, Stone in Love and Anyway You Want it. Steve Perry's voice is one of a kind and very distinctive. His range is incredible and you will love each of the songs listed above.
Journey was never, ever the same after Steve Perry left. That man's voice is beautiful. Open Arms, Who's Crying Now and Separate Ways are likely to deliver a couple of OMG moments.
Fun fact: Prince's Purple Rain was inspired by this song, but he feared it might be too similar, so he asked Journey if they consented to its release. Turns out they did.
This lineup is: Steve Perry - "The Voice" Neil Schon - guitar Ross Vallory - bass Jonathan Cain - keyboards Steve Smith - drums Another song of theirs that is beautiful is When You Love A Woman. The perfect song to play at a wedding. Their original keyboard player was Gregg Rolie, who was also their singer on the first 3 albums. Rolie and Schon were in Santana before forming Journey.
At 51 years old, I've heard a lot of music. A LOT. This song is on my list of songs that never fails to make me emotional. Steve Perry's voice, the heartfelt story, the clips of what touring with s band is like. Incredible. Hopefully you and Amber will add Dimash Kudaibergen to your list. Best singer I've ever heard, I guarantee this is a rabbit hole you'll want to explore.
I’m 51 and from Seattle. Journey was my first Concert at 12. I just discovered Dimash recently. I agree, you MUST react to Dimash. He can sing 7 octaves and sings in 12 languages. I love your reactions Rob Squad. Steve Perry from Journey was my first love, but Dimash is a whole other level. I love both for different reasons.
When this song came out in 1983, my girlfriend and I chose this as our song. After 34 years, three kids, two grandkids, it's still our song. My ringtone for her is this song. This is a beautiful song.
Hey guys ! Steve Perry is the lead singer for Journey, and Steve Smith is the drummer !! Just incredible musicians in this band -- great all around !! I would recommend listening to Where Were You, which has some great drum work in it, and Lovin Touching Squeezing for a great feel-good song. Love your videos !!
@@isaackovitz4791 I know !! The only reason that I didnt mention him was they were asking about the singer and the drummer. But I love them all ! I saw them years ago, and Bryan Adams opened up for them !! They played for 3 hours -- it was awesome !!
Steve has a Beautiful Voice!! There concert was Fantastic and they are still one of my all time favorites!! He sounds just as good live by the way!! So many great songs!! Please do Open Arm’s!
I'll be honest, as a dude, this song still chokes me up to this very day, so much passion and raw talent, YEP, great time to be alive back then. Todays music just seems to have a lot of negitivity and society seems to have only gotten violent and hate filled, which is a crying shame. Music really does impact a persons soul, ya know what I mean? I wish the world could go back to the good ole days, kids nowadays have no idea sadly!
Steve Perry was probably one of the best lead frontman. He voice was amazing and just so unique. There are people who have tried to be the next Steve Perry but there will never be another like him. He voice was so smooth and mesmerizing. Lovin, Touchin and Squeezin is a fun one. Open Arms is just as beautiful as Faithfully. Anyway You want it is another great one.
I hear you. The world is not a very pretty or nice place right now. The Russian Ukrainian war, the animosity between our elected officials in this country and all the social unrest makes me yearn for the way times were back then.
One of the greatest vocalists of all time, and one of the most successful rock bands ever. It was a privilege to grow up listening to them. Their music will endure the ages !
Steve Perry is the second singer of Journey, but he's the one you put Journey on the map and they became one of the best Rock n' Roll bands of all time. I love Steve's voice so much! 😍
I agree Journey has had a few lead singers but Perry’s voice is what brought them to their highest peak for hits. The singers after him all seemed to have the same raspy voice but Steve Perry is one of a kind. I stopped listening to anything they made after he left the band because honestly it was his vocals I wanted to hear. He made plenty of music I listen to all the time.
@@persiascott2490 Journey's first hits were duos with founding member Greg Rollie and Steve Perry. The three initial albums released by the band were very different in style. As much as his voice, Perry's song writing with Neil Schon changed Journey's popularity. Also, if you listen to Steve's first two albums with the band, there is no rasp in his voice. But back then, you toured to sell records, and their management toured the crap out of his voice. By the end of their last tour, he was fried. He was amazing.
Patty-I saw them live in 1986. It was a night I won't ever forget. You should check out the Raised on Radio concert tour video. Unbelievable! Send Her My Love, Girl Can't Help It, Raised on Radio, and When You Love a Woman are just a few. I've loved this group since 1982.
This song has given me goosebumps for 40 years. Steve Perry's voice is...I can't even find the words. It defies description. "I get the joy of rediscovering you" is one of the best lines from any song ever. Journey absolutely defines the power ballad. NO ONE does them better. SO glad you guys finally reacted to this!
This is one of those songs that you NEVER change the station when it comes on, and you WILL sit in the car in the driveway until it's finished, drumming on the steering wheel.
"Faithfully" is my second favorite Journey song. "Open Arms" is top for me and if you like "Faithfully" you'll love "Open Arms". Steve Perry was always top notch vocally, an amazing voice.
An absolutely heart wrenchingly beautiful song. I remember when the song first came out and I saw the video for the first time, I was touched by the shots of the band and the absolute human essence captured in the juxtaposition of the shots during the video. They weren’t just performers, they were a bunch of guys on the road missing their families/loved ones. And the two most poignant pictures were the band members Climbing the stairs onto a plane and drummer, Steve Smith, holding the carrier with his son, as he climbed the stairs onto the plane while the song plays, “they say that the road ain’t no place to start a family” . Followed by a picture of a long-haired girl in a photograph that pans out to keyboardist Jonathan Cain staring in the mirror where the picture is hung while the song plays “right all the while it’s been you and me.” Jonathan Cain wrote the song, inspired by, and dedicated to the girl in the photo… His wife.
Mother, Father is one of their best ballads along with this song right here being a huge favorite! Great Reaction!! GO down this rabbit hole! You will not be disappointed!!
Journey got labeled “corporate rock “ because they were among the first band to have corporations sponsor tours…and they were among the best at power ballads. Got some backlash from purists, but people loved them..they don’t call Steve Perry “the voice “ for nothing. Foolish Heart is a great song from his solo album
Is this really your first Journey reaction since May?? Been a minute! You have so much further down this rabbit hole to go! You got to do "Lights", "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'", "Any Way You Want It", "Who's Crying Now", "Open Arms", "Separate Ways", and perhaps their most famous song "Don't Stop Believin'". Was there a voice in that era more recognizable than Steve Perry's? I don't think so! (OK, maybe Steven Tyler.) P.S. I don't think you've done another Phil Collins song other than "In the Air Tonight" (twice). Might I suggest "Sussudio" or "I Wish It Would Rain Down" or possibly "Against All Odds"?
I grew up in the 80’s & Journey was huge. Steve Perry is called THE VOICE for a reason. One of the greatest rock ballads of all time.Your reactions are great.
Little known fact... After first hearing this song, Prince liked the tune so much that he was inspired to write his own version of it - Purple Rain. * If you listen to both songs back to back and close your eyes while listening you'll be blown away at the similarities the songs have with one another, especially towards the end!
Steve perry's vocal performance on this song is on another level, only a couple other vocalists ever reached this level of performance. The whole song is a masterpiece but specifically, starting at 6:25, he goes to another gear and then he hits yet another gear at 8:40 just when you didn't think he could belt it any more powerfully
“Highway run, into the midnight sun” such an iconic intro. Also the lines “ two strangers meant to fall in love again” and “I get the joy of rediscovering you”. Such good lyrics
If you do “Don’t Stop Believin” please do the live performance from Houston. It is as close to seeing them in concert as you can get, and you will see the brilliance of Steve Perry’s vocals.
I absolutely love this song and have since it debuted. Other songs by *Journey* that I suggest - "Send Her My Love" "Lovin', Touchin', Squeezin'" "Girl Can't Help it" "Open Arms" "Who's Crying, Now?" "Any Way You Want It" "Lights" Lead singer, *Steve Perry* solo - "Foolish Heart" "Oh, Sherri"
I grew up listening to Journey. I truly love every single song of theirs. I'd highly recommend 'Send Her My Love', 'Separate Ways', and 'Be Good To Yourself'. But honestly, you really can't go wrong with any Journey!!
Hey J and Amber. You absolutely must react to "Mother, Father" by Journey. Live in Houston 1981!! His vocals will blow you away...especially being live!
They had so many hits. Great group. But this…is…the Journey song. Lead singer Steve Perry is consistently listed as one of the greatest voices in rock history. And they aren’t wrong.
One of the underrated lines of this song is "I get the joy of re-discovering you", which references to coming together after being apart so long. What a great silver-lining outlook.
Open Arms, Who's Cryin' Now, and Send Her My Love are also songs by Journey. All 3 are tearjerkers. Another one is Foreigner's Waiting For A Girl Like You.
I just listened to your Journey's "Send Here My Love" and this beautiful song, both of which I have listened too since they were released in the 1980's. Again, thanks for opening the eyes of the unknowing people everywhere. You are music ambassador's to lovers of music everywhere.
Great ballad. You are in my era. So many good bands and songs during this time period. Steve Perry’s voice is unprecedented but don’t sleep on Neal Schon . Absolutely passionate and talented guitarist.
...If I had to pick a greatest band of my youth it would be Journey...Jonathan Cain was also an essential element, not to mention Greg Rollie on earlier albums...none of the members should be sold short, they were a great band...they still sound great with Arnel Pineda, but will never recapture the magic of the 80s Journey
The #1 band for me in the early 80's . The whole Escape album is awesome - "Don't Stop Believing" "Who's Crying Now" "Stone in Love" and the Title track are bangers. Also "Lights" is a must. Fabulous musicians and of course the incomparable Steve Perry - one of the greatest rock tenors. More Journey!
Steve Perry has one of the best voices in music for sure. His range and control are underrated in my opinion. Love Journey. I hope you guys react to more.
Great job Dad...keep up with what is important...Family. Great job Mom for the support you give to him. Steve Perry has such a pure voice...tragic of why he stopped singing...maybe someday he will return to entertain us. Love your videos kids....keep exploring....
In this particular song....it's the pause...between "forever yours".... and... .... "faithfully"...... that makes it SO beautiful, romantic and timeless....
Imo, the songs Mother Father and Still They Ride are some the best examples of Steve Perry's voice and skill. Also, Stone in Love and Anyway you Want It are my personal favorite two Journey songs.
I have 6 Journey songs for you: "Whose Crying Now" "Any Way You Want It" "Lovin' Touchin' Squeezing" " "Lights" ,"Don't Stop Believing" and "Separate Ways" ALL these songs are Fantastic!
I was in line to the Journey concert all day. Was at the stage. So close when Steve Perry shook his head his sweat hit me...haven't showered since the 80s lol Also got on restriction by my Mom for lying about spending the night at a friends so I could be in Seattle to get in line for "festival " seating.
1979, very close to the stage, ALL OF US, LIGHTERS LIT, AND WE WERE ALL SINGING EVERY WORD OF THIS BEAUTIFUL SONG. Still give me chills. His voice is so beautiful. WE HAVE ALWAYS LOVED JOURNEY.
Steve Perry is "The Voice" "Steve Perry has the range of a high tenor and solid alto and is considered a countertenor. He is a rare tenor altino, a rare form of countertenor, a voice that many consider incomparable. His voice is very recognizable and longtime friend of Perry's, Jon Bon Jovi, gave him the nickname, "
Johnathan Cain is the keyboard player. He wrote this as kind of a love letter to his wife. Sadly, they divorced soon after this came out. She couldn’t stay with someone on the road so much.
The Voice. There aren't many better male vocalists than Steve Perry. Journey was huge in the 80s. Listen to the guitar playing of Neal Schon. He's also telling the story through the guitar.
This was my mom’s absolute favorite band when I was little. “Separate Ways,” “Open Arms,” and “Lights” are all good suggestions. And of course “Don’t Stop Believing,” but I am almost sure you’ve heard that one before! “Faithfully” is by far my favorite.

Journey, was huge back in the day. Check out some early tunes like "Lights," "Any way you want it," Wheel In the Sky," as well as "Open Arms," "Don't Stop Believin,"
Lights! Best Journey song
@@jillmayer9501 Nowhere near their best song…but to each his/her own. They had a truck load of deep tracks that were better than Lights…
If you've reacted to Faithfully then you have have to react to Open Arms. Amber will absolutely love the song. It was nearly everyone's date song in the early 80's!
Most definitely!!
When I was young, I thought the words were "I come to you with broken arms..."
I thought it was a really deep commentary on how heartbreak makes it difficult to embrace a new relationship.🤔
Yeah, Amber would break down listening to “Open Arms”, hell, most people do. It’s that good.
Also Who's Crying Now... Is a crier...
Jay will love it too, because we all know he’s a ‘Piano Man’ at heart!! And the piano plays a very close 2nd place to Steve Perry’s vocals on this song, which are noting short of impeccable.
There's a reason Journey was HUGE... they were IT... and why everybody loves them (even if they don't want to admit it). They were an incredible band!
Our wedding song too, and my husband wore tails too! Love Steve Perry he has a phenomenal voice.
THIS is the sht... ua-cam.com/video/CmvP1hdYKNs/v-deo.html
And I consider this their greatest work ever: ua-cam.com/video/5i38vu0HMvM/v-deo.html
Hell, the show Glee's whole success was built on Journey songs.
@@Head-ck4hu did you like Fleetwood Mac more before Stevie nicks and Lindsay Buckingham joined?
All those and "Stone In Love".
@@bogdog999 I for one am so glad the producer made them take the VOICE Steve Perry one of the greatest of all time!
Steve Perry …. The voice! It doesn’t get much better then Steve Perry! Having seen them so many times love, his voice is still perfect even live ! Next time you do them pick a live!!
Escape tour 1981 Houston.
The voice that makes me moist!!!🥰🥰🥰💖💖💖
Jon Bon Jovi gave him that..."The Voice" nickname.
Randy Jackson Of American Idol fame also was a member of Journey in their early days. Having worked with Steve Perry, he said Steve had the best Rock Voice in the business.
@@alicesmith7020 I saw them early 80s as well. Unbelievable concert. Worcester MA as best as I can recall.
@@brendah.6366 😱😱😱
One of the best vocalists ever, period.
Oh without question..
The best. Not one of the best.
By Far
Steve Smith is the drummer. One of my favorite drummers of all time. Jazz trained and still incredible until this day.
Strve Smith is a virtuoso..one of tge greatest drummer of all time.
There was a somewhat recent video on UA-cam where he does a walk through and breakdown of Separate Ways. He's got a very technical mindset.
I cry at this one every time, as well. That line, “Two strangers learn to fall in love again; I get the joy of rediscovering you…” I lose it, and start balling!! Steve Perry’s voice is absolute perfection! ❤️❤️
Great reaction! Thank you guys!!
Same here, that is my favorite line in the song. I also cry hearing this song. The lyrics are so beautiful and heartfelt.
I'm with you, the line, " I get the joy of rediscovering you". Is my favorite line. That feeling of basically falling back in love with someone, remembering why u fell in love.
Absolutely agree
My late husband was a truck driver. He would be gone for 30 days to 3 months at a time. I was left to raise our 3 sons alone while he was away. He would tell me that he dedicated this song to me...often. He was away because of his family's needs...but we had to make that sacrifice of life without him. This song really brought out the feels for me too. Thank you for this reaction video. Y'all are amazing.
As a trucker wife with two young kids (one of them with very special needs), I salute you and stand in solidarity. It's a tough job. 🤍
That’s a sacrifice that few think about. You are an exceptionally strong person. I was a stay at home dad and that daily loneliness was challenging in an era when that was rarely done. But my wife came home each night. I appreciate what you have overcome 🌜💨
Thanks for sharing- Your husband is still listening
This song is one of the greatest love songs of all time. You wouldn't think they could ever come close to this song but, they sure did with When You Love a Woman. Just as great as this song.
send her my love is another.
🙏🏼
This brought tears to my eyes! I'm so sorry for your loss! ❤💔🕯🙏
@@Kim-dm4yb Thanks
There was a point in the 80s where Journey was the biggest band in the world. They have a slew of mega hits.
you didnt get laid unless you had some Journey in the car.
Steve Perry is a national treasure. I'm 32 and a metal head since I was 10. But my mother raised me on Journey, Boston, Bee Gees, etc.
I know a good voice.
im right there with you.. a metal head my whole life... but there is no denying beauty where ever you may find it....
His voice is phenomenal
Boston is amazing too! I only discovered them in my late 20s and I can't stop listening to those groups.
Your mom raised you right. God bless
Yup he's one of my favorite male singers.
Keyboardist Jonathan Cain started writing this on a napkin, inspired while riding their diesel travel bus. Of course it was for his wife, but, he wrote it for all of them and it ends up being for every musician and everyone who travels for work and misses their loved ones. ❤️
Every once in a while a legendary song really is written in 20 minutes.
Amazing..simply put
Well, 20 minutes plus a lifetime of working at it.
Yeah, Separate Ways!
Still they ride and stone in love are kick ass songs
Journey was never, ever the same after Steve Perry left. That man's voice is beautiful. Open Arms, Who's Crying Now and Separate Ways are likely to deliver a couple of OMG moments.
And Send Her My Love. OMG... the feels!
His departure was so bad, they literally became their own cover band
Agree...I LOVE SEPERATE WAYS!!
@@XlissueslXgaming So true about them being their own cover band
Totally agree
"I get the joy of re-discovering you."
This song is romantic as hell.
Listen to Just the Same way, Mother father, Still they Ride,Feeling that Way,Anytime
Fun fact: Prince's Purple Rain was inspired by this song, but he feared it might be too similar, so he asked Journey if they consented to its release. Turns out they did.
This lineup is:
Steve Perry - "The Voice"
Neil Schon - guitar
Ross Vallory - bass
Jonathan Cain - keyboards
Steve Smith - drums
Another song of theirs that is beautiful is When You Love A Woman. The perfect song to play at a wedding. Their original keyboard player was Gregg Rolie, who was also their singer on the first 3 albums. Rolie and Schon were in Santana before forming Journey.
As a coach, he HAS TO know Don’t Stop Believin as much as it’s played before, after, and during sooooooo many sporting events!
Definitely
I’m 51 and from Seattle. Journey was my first Concert at 12. I just discovered Dimash recently. I agree, you MUST react to Dimash. He can sing 7 octaves and sings in 12 languages. I love your reactions Rob Squad. Steve Perry from Journey was my first love, but Dimash is a whole other level. I love both for different reasons.
When this song came out in 1983, my girlfriend and I chose this as our song. After 34 years, three kids, two grandkids, it's still our song. My ringtone for her is this song.
This is a beautiful song.
Oh this is so beautiful, to many more happy years together!

Hey guys ! Steve Perry is the lead singer for Journey, and Steve Smith is the drummer !! Just incredible musicians in this band -- great all around !! I would recommend listening to Where Were You, which has some great drum work in it, and Lovin Touching Squeezing for a great feel-good song. Love your videos !!
...and don't forget Neal Schon - one of the greatest guitarist of rock n' roll.
@@isaackovitz4791 I know !! The only reason that I didnt mention him was they were asking about the singer and the drummer. But I love them all ! I saw them years ago, and Bryan Adams opened up for them !! They played for 3 hours -- it was awesome !!
This guy's voice cuts into your soul because he sings with so much heart and emotion.
Steve has a Beautiful Voice!! There concert was Fantastic and they are still one of my all time favorites!! He sounds just as good live by the way!! So many great songs!! Please do Open Arm’s!
‘Open Arms’ and ‘Send her my love’ are masterpieces.
Lovin, Touchin, Squeezin..
Mmmmmmmmmm
I’m grateful to have witnessed this great era of music back then. It was a better time for the whole world.
For sure
Can’t like your comment enough
Completely agree. Steve Perry....such a great artist
Me too
The music then was all real
Seen them in concert they are fantastic & Steve Perry's voice is AMAZING his range is PHENOM!! I LOVE them so much!!
Me too! 1986 Kemper Arena KC, MO. Huey Lewis and the News opened. Amazing first concert. Burnt my fingers holding the lighter for this one!
we need more Journey!!! Steve Perry's voice is absolutely Golden!! The best pure make vocalist Ever
I will be singing my own song hope you will back me up lol 😂😂😂😂😂
Steve Perry's voice is unbelievable. Still blows my mind even after hearing him for years.
Steve smith is the drummer . He has a jazz background!
What you said immediately brings 'Oh Sherry' to mind which, is about one of his ex's if I'm not mistaken.
Me, too.
Goosebumps. Heart palpation. Grins. And, even, dewey eyes.
(But that's cause I'm a girl. ☺️)
Agreed. Best singer and that line is epic. So moving.
Steve Perry's voice is what they had in mind when they coined the term "soaring vocals"
See Mine is Faithfully Dont stop believing and thrn open arms
In the 80’s as young kids this was our music. Love it still
Journey "Only the young" (original studio version) is my FAVORITE song by them EVER! goosebumps. ❤️
Agreed. I've been pushing for "Mother, Father" Live in Houston for months.
That’s the one I was getting ready to suggest
Journey got labeled “corporate rock “ because they were among the first band to have corporations sponsor tours…and they were among the best at power ballads. Got some backlash from purists, but people loved them..they don’t call Steve Perry “the voice “ for nothing. Foolish Heart is a great song from his solo album
Steve Perry has a powerful and distinct voice. Check out his solo song "Oh Sherrie"... his vocals will knock your socks off!!!
Foolish Heart is even better!
@Steve perry I bet you say that to all the ladies!!
@Steve perry Brett??
After Steve Perry left Journey, he had like 4 solo hits. Foolish Heart is one of my favorite songs and his voice is just amazing this song
Stone in Love .. is another great one
“Who’s Crying Now” is fantastic. And much agreement for more Phil Collins, especially “Against All Odds”.
"Land of Confusion" by Phil Collins. What an awesome song.
@@Sportsref13 Not one of their bigger ones, but I totally agree!
Many of today's songs are about shaking ass, WAP, body counts....this song smashes them all with faith, love and family. This song is pure.

Amen to that. We need more true talent, love and less vain things.

The world needs more WAP
I grew up in the 80’s & Journey was huge. Steve Perry is called THE VOICE for a reason. One of the greatest rock ballads of all time.Your reactions are great.
Little known fact... After first hearing this song, Prince liked the tune so much that he was inspired to write his own version of it - Purple Rain. * If you listen to both songs back to back and close your eyes while listening you'll be blown away at the similarities the songs have with one another, especially towards the end!
Another fact Bryan Adams' song Heaven is heavily influenced by this song and Steve Smith Journey's drummer was featured on the song.
Yes Prince called Steve Perry to ask permission to use that & he said yes to Prince
Two strangers LEARN to fall in love again..
Such poetry!
In the United States Of America The land of the Midnight Sun is Alaska 😁
If you do “Don’t Stop Believin” please do the live performance from Houston. It is as close to seeing them in concert as you can get, and you will see the brilliance of Steve Perry’s vocals.

They had so many hits. Great group. But this…is…the Journey song. Lead singer Steve Perry is consistently listed as one of the greatest voices in rock history. And they aren’t wrong.
"Open Arm's" is another power ballad by Journey
One of my favorites by them is Send Her My Love. Didn't get as much pub as some of their other tunes but really hit home with me in my life.

My favorite line in the song as well with two strangers learn to fall in love again.... just brilliant writing.
"I'll get the joy of rediscovering you" is such a beautiful lyric.
That and "two strangers learn to love again"
