Not sure if you watched the video on my Channel that I posted about this problem. It could be the check valve. The valve actuators are factory set to close all the way - it would be strange if yours didn't meaning the gears are bad. Video is called: My Spa is Draining Down When Pool Turns Off.
If I have black algae and have been working on it for weeks * using your tips and I visited the pool store and they even agreed what I was doing should be doing the trick but now suggesting putting a pool filter cleaner in my filter?? Would I use it the same way you're suggesting here? THANK YOU!
I enjoy your videos as a pool tech myself. Wouldn't the cleanser come to the pool because you started it in "filter" once it's in the return line it will come out in the pool. I did this and always started in "backwash"
I enjoy watching the videos of your pool cleaning and repair. If I may ask a question related to my spa and why it drains overnight. I tried to watch your video on this but still have more questions. Real quick I janne a fiberglass pool and separate spa. It also has a solar panel and salt system. I tried to reseal my jandy valves using lube and adjust my actuator to make it close. Still cant figure out why it still drips overnight. Driving me crazy. What do you recommend I look at now.?
Change my sand every year. Have to, live in North Dakota . Use the old sand for ice coverd driveway and side walks in the winter. Filter , pump and heater get removed cleaned and stored in a heated garage.
Have you looked into using glass instead of sand? I just found out about this last week. There are other products that last either forever or way longer than sand.
Thanks for the video - bought a house with a sand filter (my previous one was cartridge), no idea the age or quality of the sand. I bought the cleaner on Amazon and used it today. I didn't want the soap to go into the pool so I backwashed, rinsed, backwashed again (50 seconds), rinsed again (25 seconds) and there was virtually no "suds" entering the pool when I returned it to filter mode. Pressure went down a little. I'll do it again every year.
Hi, thanks for the helpful pool vids! I followed instructions on this video and several others with similiar advice for my sand filter and when I went to backwash the filter wouldn't backwash, I troubleshooted and tried the filter and waste settings, would you happen to know how to fix this? My current assumption is that the filter is somehow clogged with the soap from the product but I have no idea how to resolve this. Tried to add water to the basket and checked the skimmer. Seems to be no intake on filter settings.
Maybe an issue with the multi-port valve itself. You would have to remove the screws and check that spider gasket inside to see if it is seated properly.

Not sure. I will do this when the pool is open and running and if I notice a filtration problem. I suppose you can, it is just degreaser/soap product.

You can start in backwash. Thanks for tuning in!

I'm surprised you don't have a hose on that back flush pipe?
Me too! What a mess every time you back wash. Hopefully it is away from the house foundation.

@@SPL Hello thank you for the reply! That turned out to be it, there seemed to be a air leak not allowing the pump to prime. Thank you!!!
if my cleaner is not liquid when i pour it in water do i have to disolve the little balls or just drop them as it is
Not sure what brand that is.
