    Hello. Thanks for the video. You said "don't leave the pump on as you switch the guage / knob.." Can you tell us why? Thanks again.

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  5 місяців тому

      Howdy, partner! The pump operates under very high pressure and when you switch the knob you could enter the "Closed" or other limited flow position that would create immense back pressure. It may be fine depending on your setup, but I wouldn't risk it.

    Hi, thanks for posting, what position are the skimmer and main drain valves in when you backwash your pool?

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  2 роки тому

      Hey partner! You shouldn’t have to adjust the skimmer or main drain when backwashing. They stay in the open position. Thanks for watching!

    When I set mine to rinse mode and the water still pushes out of the same hose as it does when I backwash. Is that not supposed to be happening? My pool has been super cloudy and I can’t seem to get this pool clean for past couple weeks and my chemicals are all on point.

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  4 місяці тому

      Rinse will cause water to travel through waste tube, but when on filter no water should leak out. If it’s cloudy and your chemicals are good perhaps try running the filter for 24 hours straight to fully filter everything. If still no luck, I’d add a water clarifier.

    Do you recommend keeping the pump on second speed or first speed during the day when not cleaning.

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  5 місяців тому

      Second speed (slower) will greatly reduce energy consumption. As long as you turn over the entire pool’s water at least once daily you can run at any speed. We run at low speed (50% rpm) for 12 hours per day and high speed for 2 while the pool cleaner is engaged. This is the same turnover as full speed for 8 hours per day, but much less energy.

    Hi, thanks for this video. Question. How can I remove the dome lid of the filter? Thanks

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks, partner! The lid usually has a cap that requires a special plastic wrench made by the manufacturer. If yours isn’t on top of the filter you may need to Google the model to find the correct wrench. Be sure to release all air pressure and turn off the pump first. Good luck!

  • @rolandsalvato

    Hello again, I repeated the filter clean process twice; yet the pressure is still very high. I'm afraid that's not a good thing. What should I try?

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  5 місяців тому

      @@rolandsalvato Do you know if it is higher than normal? If so, your sand may need to be replaced. The sand eventually wears down and collects long-term debris. Length of sand life varies, but many suggest replacement every 5 years or so.

    Hey! I have that same filter, I believe. Salt water pool & only had it about a year. I’ve somewhat figured out my system, but one thing I’m noticing is the different valve, I only have a single piston style positioner. UP flows to the pool, and DOWN runs water out the backwash line to flush the filter. Is that normal? (My old above ground pool had multiple options like yours. Currently seems like I don’t have a “rinse” option though)
    How often do you change the filter sand? How would you know if that needs done?
    I noticed you release pressure in the filter when opening the pump skimmer basket. Does that help keep the pump from running dry when cleaning that out?

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  Рік тому

      Howdy, partner! Hard to understand your valves exactly without seeing them. The filter sand should last 5-7 years. When you start to get consistent sediment returning to the pool it may be time to change the sand. Also, the filter pressure will go higher faster after cleaning when the sand is too old. It's always good to release the vacuum before opening the pump basket. Make sure to bleed all fo the air out of the system when restarting. Good questions partner, you can too!

    How do I get the water to not run out like it does when it is backwashing?

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  6 місяців тому +1

      You have to turn it back to the filter setting. If it continues to leak on filter, check out our video on replacing the backwash valve seal.

  • @FerJaeLev
    @FerJaeLev 2 роки тому +1

    Backwashing with this system doesn’t require a separate backwash hose, is that right?

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  2 роки тому +1

      Howdy partner! The backwashing port will always connect to a hose or discharge pipe. The system in the video is plumbed to a PVC discharge pipe. Backwashing expels dirty water so it will always have to leave the system somewhere. Let us know if you have any other questions!

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  Рік тому

      No harm, partner! But, your filter is probably a little smaller and may not need as thorough of a rinse. Its not an exact science either way.

    How do I sanitize my filer & pump from brown algea?

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  Рік тому

      Howdy, partner! I am not sure if there is a specific process for brown algae. Generally speaking, you can shock the pool and then flush the filter a few days later to get rid of the junk. If it gets really bad, you can replace the filter sand and add new material. That's a big job, but it has to be done after several years anyway.

    • @lauramccullough9769
      @lauramccullough9769 Рік тому

      @MRGREGSHOWTO thanks for the reply..found out it's not brown algea, it's metals from my neighbors fireworks . Used vitamin C tablets on the biggest brown spot ( recommended by pool store) to figure that out 👍

    What would be considered "a little high" to know to do this?

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  8 місяців тому

      Howdy partner! It depends on your system, but once it is about 10-15 psi above freshly clean it’s probably time to be backwashed. You could just backwash it and note the clean pressure for future reference.

  • @sniperlif3
    @sniperlif3 Рік тому +1

    Could have swore that rinse will get rid of water as well. Instead of going into your pool jets its meant to rinse out of the system like backwash, except it goes the opposite direction.

    • @MRGREGSHOWTO
      @MRGREGSHOWTO  2 роки тому +1

      Hey partner! I do it monthly or less, but it depends on a lot of factors including size of pool, size of filter, amount of debris, etc. You want to monitor the pressure and when it climbs 7-10 psi I like to flush it. Sand filters work best a little dirty anyways. Good luck!!
