"You ruined my life." "No, I LIVED it." Ouch... that line hurt my soul... This was... REALLY good! I really enjoyed Doug's character, and it got me thinking about a lot of things. Very well done.
I like how Doug listens to his own advice. :~) In most other films, this protagonist would've had some sort of dumb redemption at the end, and his girlfriend would've come back for him, etc. Awesome work.
The main point is, we use video games to live the lives we never will get to live and do the things we feel we may never get to do. We *want* the adventurous life of being brave and bold but we don't realize that being heroic isn't impossible. We should be more appreciative with the endless possibilities in our modern lives. We are so consumed with our own dreaming and role playing that we forget about the adventure around us.
Channel Awesome, I am about to give you guys the biggest compliment I could possibly give this film: by rewatching it!!! Yes, I just came across it last night and all I can say is I couldn't wait to come home from work today to watch it again. In all sincerity, this is the kind of work that makes me a little envious, almost wishing "geez I wish I had come up with this." But of course, I could not have pulled it off quite like you guys did. So what else can I say? Awesome job Channel Awesome! don't forget about us the little people when you all finally get your BIG big break!
Thought this was going to be more funny, but had a very serious message. Wish the protagonist had had a chance to redeem himself. But, sometimes we have to learn the hard way.
It's interesting to note that, with Doug Walkers other silly films... It's nice to see he actually CAN act. Mind you it is B-movie material, but still not too shabby. With some tweaking and a bigger budget, I can see something akin to this actually being theater-worthy.
"I wish life was more like you, SkyGuard"I was expecting a magical world-changing nonsense to happen making our world more like the Skyrim world with dragons and mages, and the protagonist's main quest is to change everything back to normal before an evil overlord takes control of both worlds, not bringing a character from the game to our world and ruin this guy's life forever. Opportunity lost. But its a good enough film.
They havent done anything quite like this but "suburban knights" was very funny and if you are a big fan of the that guy with the glasses crew you should enjoy "to boldly flee". Ah Doug Walker :) how can we thank you enough :)
Better than most films out there, that's for sure. Doug, I don't understand why you and your brother aren't film directors! Not only was this movie well done, but it was thought provoking as well. I didn;t understand the full message until the very end. I didn;t even know what was going to happen until the very end!
Thank you :) Why isnt Doug Walker the next big writer, director actor. He, his brother too, put so much work and thought into film. I cry to think whats popular film art these days. But thank you for seeing what i see :)
terrainturmoil141 We've seen the Coen Brothers and we've seen the (formerly) Wachowski Brothers. Now it's time for Hollywood to meet the Walker Brothers.
I'm going to sound completely stupid here but we're you the guy? If so I thought that character was the real highlight both comically and dramatically, as well as the rare 'serious' performance by Doug :D
LeBron and Jimbroth are my favorite characters in this, because of how well they work in this movie, Jimbroth being sort of like an innocent who doesn't get the modern world and LeBron being the funny boss. Those 2 made this movie
Very entertaining movie. A man that has it all, being consumed by fantasy till it turns on him as reality. Great writing, It felt like watching a present day Twilight Zone episode. Would love to see more of this type of movies been made; mystery and humor with a lesson at the end.
I know!! Its the combination of his attitude, sense of humor and mannerisms . I think doug may be one of the hottest men ever!! Hes the real thing. Rare these days.
I normally hate the trope in which a supernatural character is treated as a whimsical guy who's loved by everyone. But Doug Walker makes it work. Well done, guys. :)
Ok that shit was Hilarious!!!!!!! Best movie i've seen in a while! Man i gota say very underated! Anyone thats ever played Skyrim should have a blast watching this! I just bought the legendary edition of it and watching this movie along with the game was great! Excellent acting, writing and camera work. I give it a 10, SUPERB!
For free content on the internet... this is some amazing acting. I love this video. tried to find it on thatguywiththeglasses but no luck. Anyways, good to see it again, been a while. The part with the friends and the magic strip game reminds me of my own friends. I'd love to go out drinking with them some time, been a while :P
That was awesome! You guys a genius!! I thoughly enjoyed watching this!! I didn't sit down the whole time lol! Acting, story, everything was brilliant! :-D :-D :-D.
Agreed. Single with a job that leaves me time to play and provides money enough to pay the bills, buy games, improve my PC and have savings for any eventuality that may happen and life is treating me real good. What I don't get is why he never invited his friends home or why he saved so much stuff for when he "beats the game"...
well this was strange, in the past i have heard Doug criticize the fish out of water storyline as both himself and the nostalgia critic, seems odd he would use what could have been an opportunity for a much more comedically funny film with a small portion of satire and very limited room for plot. At least with his past work with to boldly flee and suburban knights there was references in comedic fashion but also a somewhat interesting plot, this just seems convoluted and i am sorry to say, a little lazy in terms of a storyline. I love Doug walker and his work but i feel he took the easy route with this idea, such a shame
Hello all just have to say this video was Fucking fantastic and absolute genius just think how many bad movies doug has watched as the nostalgia critic and he could make movies a million times better all along HAHAHA
kind of reminded me of that french movie where a knight gets warped into modern day france and learns to cope with the weird modern technology etc. this has a better twist though good job
This was better then i thought it would be, the writing and acting is better then in his previous movies. In my opnion....even tho the other three movies were cheesy, that's really what made them funny and entertaining
I like the Webmaster bits of the whole thing (This one and Dragged In are fine, but the rest of them other than the Webmaster parts are either boring or something I've heard before in High School). They remind me of a thing I do with my Halloween comics where a host and his Co-host (usually a female) are in a spooky setting but wind up getting into some comical situations. The whole thing is usually wrapped up in the end part with something ridiculous.
i loved it, but it also aggrivated me a little, im one of those people that are of the belief that you can ALWAYS change your life around, i hate the idea that it ever becomes too late, unless your rottign in the pits of hell/the ground (depending on your religious and or aethiestic beliefs) then their is always time to change, i mean sure, you can say that if you don't change soon enough people leave and you lose friends and stuff, but even if all your friends are gone, your girlfriend leaves you, ad your alone, you should still change, cuz the next thing that happens could always end up for the best by the time your done, atleast that's my take on life, never to late to fix yourself and or your problems, great though, loved the movie^^
Wow, the guy tried to work hard and make money for himself and his girlfriend, but just for few weeks he wanted to relax in game, and then his gf blamed everything that happened in movie on him, AND THEN he got sucked in the game, where he suffered and died multiple times? What's the fucking moral here?
I didn't know NC was into Skyrim (unless I'm mistaken and that he really doesn't), either way, love the movie. And the ending did hit me a bit, it's like that you can waste your time on games and you should always share your time with people around you. And this is coming from someone who is addicted to Skyrim. (Surprising how last semester my grades didn't go down, they most likely will this semester.)
Im trying to let go of this Skyrim addiction. As soon as I saw the game at the beginning, Man!! Was I getting pulled back... Used to play 8 hours a day non-stop. Thanks to the damaged Graphic card, it's come to a stop.....for now.
AS lightning said:Moral is:Don't let reality escape your clutches. That is why i quit mmorpgs ages ago.5 hours playing an mmorpg or more, without being able to quit is ridiculous.I mean:Its fun, but then i would have no life.
Carl got what he deserved he thought he could just play the game and everything would work out the point that he neglected his Girlfriend and ignored his job, then when the character he made came to life he acted like Doug’s character accomplishments were his when really all he did was play a game. Hell teachnically Doug’s character was actually doing the work in the game since Carl wasn’t actually in that world he was just controlling/telling what Doug’s character was doing then he has the gal to blame Doug’s character when it was all his fault to begin with
This movie gave me one of the most powerful lessons ever. To enjoy fantasy, but to treat every day of real life like an adventure.
Me too. I learned that the bag of douche does not replenish health.
domidium
Same here.
This show up in anyone else's feed after watching Ralph's video?
"Dragonbored;
Dragonbored;
Oh my God is he dull;
To protect the world was your ONE FUCKING JOB"
"You ruined my life."
"No, I LIVED it."
Ouch... that line hurt my soul...
This was... REALLY good! I really enjoyed Doug's character, and it got me thinking about a lot of things. Very well done.
"I have a LIFE..."
"And I took it like a black Chuck Norris" was my favorite
I like how Doug listens to his own advice. :~)
In most other films, this protagonist would've had some sort of dumb redemption at the end, and his girlfriend would've come back for him, etc.
Awesome work.

"I'm I dead, Is this still Sky Guard." Funniest quote.
"you have harnessed the wind of the bowels" - classiest fart-joke in recorded history
+Fredrik Carlstedt "A dark, yet powerful magic."
Does it run on a soul gem
+Sara Connor BROWN soul gems.
Phone rings.."share me your burden"
+Fredrik Carlstedt tbh i think people did actually say that back then
So many Skyrim references! Such an amazingly written story with some great acting all around. Kudos to Doug especially! FOR SOVEN-STEIM XD
That was amazing! Brought up a lot of good points, characters were awesome, plot was entertaining, and production was great! A++! :D
Not fair that deserved at lest a A++++++
Dude, you're so right! :D
Could totally see this as a major motion picture release. One of my favorite things Channel Awesome has ever done
Channel Awesome, I am about to give you guys the biggest compliment I could possibly give this film: by rewatching it!!! Yes, I just came across it last night and all I can say is I couldn't wait to come home from work today to watch it again. Thought this was going to be more funny, but had a very serious message. Wish the protagonist had had a chance to redeem himself. But, sometimes we have to learn the hard way.
So, apparently Doug Walker is cool enough to use "milady" speak and not have it repulse women within a five-block radius. The more you know!
"I wish life were more like you Skyguard."
Life IS more like Skyguard. Life is what Skyguard TRIES to be.
So true :)
This was one of the best things I've seen. Beautiful.
It's interesting to note that, with Doug Walkers other silly films... It's nice to see he actually CAN act. Mind you it is B-movie material, but still not too shabby. With some tweaking and a bigger budget, I can see something akin to this actually being theater-worthy.
We need a sequel to the room.
*****
You're looking too deep into it I think doug is just saying I can make a movie better than the ones I review bitchs.
*****
Doug said he made a movie called the room we need a sequel.
After seeing Jack and Jill (Adam Sandler) definitely!
Fun, entertaining, relevant, likable, with a hint of playful sexyness, but always AWESOME!:)
that has to be one of the most epic things I have ever seen
Thank you. I agree. Oh doug and rob walker. You guys are awesome.
I have to say, this was probably the most meaningful special channelawesome's ever produced. Kinda sad they didn't make one for 2014 though.
this is the secret ending for people that watched all of the other channel awesome movies
+msmissjordan1 i think i have a theory of how the character got out of the game....maybe 2
Well, to be honest, the guy was a jerkass slacker.
This... Was really well written
Yes it was. Glad you can see it. Take a look at chanel awesome and the nostalgia critic if you want more of this amazing entertainment and art
Sara Connor
To me this is one of his better works.
I agree. And i think that dougs brother rob actually wrote a lot of this.
They havent done anything quite like this but "suburban knights" was very funny and if you are a big fan of the that guy with the glasses crew you should enjoy "to boldly flee". Ah Doug Walker :) how can we thank you enough :)
Also watch his " ask that guy with the glasses" episodes. Those had me out of breath laughing
This short video taught me more about work ethic then i are to admit
Thanks for the powerful message
Now it's time for Hollywood to meet the Walker Brothers.
agreed! Doug and Doug's brother, you shuld get paid for you fine work! --Wait... you are already... opps ;P
I understand perfectly why - This is horrible.
No!! U must be joking. This is great cinema!!! Why you say this??
The guy who played Le Bron seemed to be having a lot of fun XD
He did. He did indeed. ;-)
I'm going to sound completely stupid here but we're you the guy? If so I thought that character was the real highlight both comically and dramatically, as well as the rare 'serious' performance by Doug :D
bloodrunsclear Indeed I was. Thanks so much for the kind words.
Fard Muhammad You performed well, good sir.
***** I'll see what I can do, but if you're on Facebook, you can message him at his official page. :) Thanks for the comments!
lol Best line "That's not a game! That's a life-style choice!" Funny because it is SO FREAKIN' TRUE of Skyrim.
LeBron and Jimbroth are my favorite characters in this, because of how well they work in this movie, Jimbroth being sort of like an innocent who doesn't get the modern world and LeBron being the funny boss. Those 2 made this movie
AND I TOOK IT LIKE A BLACK CHUCK NORRIS
+Zach Sabel Segata Sanshiro is way better than chuck
Very entertaining movie. A man that has it all, being consumed by fantasy till it turns on him as reality. Great writing, It felt like watching a present day Twilight Zone episode. Would love to see more of this type of movies been made; mystery and humor with a lesson at the end.
I never thought the Nostalgia Critic a.k.a. Doug Walker could get so hot......But he did.
I know!! Its the combination of his attitude, sense of humor and mannerisms . I think doug may be one of the hottest men ever!! Hes the real thing. Rare these days.
Hey, he's a married man people! I have no idea to whom, because we never see her, but still!
I know hes married. I hope Mrs Walker knows how lucky she is
Good to see I’m not the only one who finds Doug Walker sexy.😉
Oh how I remember the first time I got Skyrim. I didn't leave my room for three weeks
The bilbo baggins line gets me every time.
damn that was really good, I would've paid to see that
I normally hate the trope in which a supernatural character is treated as a whimsical guy who's loved by everyone. But Doug Walker makes it work. Well done, guys. :)
Damn, that ending is dark.
How the heck did Doug Walker write something as good as THIS?!
Dude needs to lay off the Nostalgia Critic and get out there, ASAP.
DarthRushy Actually then was made when he had stopped doing Nostalgia Critic and was doing Demo Reel
DarthRushy he didnt write but hella good directing
@Darth, Zack and Mrking. Yes. This was amazing. Look what happens when brothers work together
+MrKingMP Rob writes a lot of the Nostalgia Critic stuff too, even though he rarely acts in it.
This is hilarious from start to end XD
Wow, this really was good! Cudos guys! Plus I love Doug, Malcolm and Rachel.. Really enjoyed this, thanks:)
I like how the theme tune to this movie sounds very Hans Zimmer.
Dude this is freaking funny id wish they would do more
The guy at the beginning holding his phone with his foot was holding it backwards....
This feels like an actual early 2010s adult comedy movie due to the tone of this movie.
This was very well made! Props to you Doug, which btw I never knew your name was Doug.

Since I'm a big fan of Skyrim I really appreciated this movie. I think that the TGWTG team should make an actual movie based on Aura Scrolls Skyguard.
That was awesome! You guys a genius!! I thoughly enjoyed watching this!! I didn't sit down the whole time lol! Acting, story, everything was brilliant! :-D :-D :-D.
Dude, why couldn't he just enjoy being single? I'm a game playing dude like him and I'm pretty happy.
Lol. I hope youre joking dude. If not you missed the point of the film. If you are joking....i should have known that. Lol
Agreed. Single with a job that leaves me time to play and provides money enough to pay the bills, buy games, improve my PC and have savings for any eventuality that may happen and life is treating me real good.
What I don't get is why he never invited his friends home or why he saved so much stuff for when he "beats the game"...
Ymir! *Points* frostbite spider!
Great film, just need better technical execution. It's funny and engaging. Doug should have kept trying.
I absolutely love this! Best video ever this week. :D
well this was strange, in the past i have heard Doug criticize the fish out of water storyline as both himself and the nostalgia critic, seems odd he would use what could have been an opportunity for a much more comedically funny film with a small portion of satire and very limited room for plot. Hello all just have to say this video was Fucking fantastic and absolute genius just think how many bad movies doug has watched as the nostalgia critic and he could make movies a million times better all along HAHAHA
this is actually enjoyable wth
i expected something terrible
kind of reminded me of that french movie where a knight gets warped into modern day france and learns to cope with the weird modern technology etc. this has a better twist though good job
this...this is..just amazing work. O_O
I know!!! Doug and Rob Walker. Awesome!!
This was really good!!! Can't wait for more story's !! Also yay!! Uncle yo!!
Answers phone -- "share me your burden" lol
Can you come to my funeral because I died lol.
LOL exactly how I was when I first bought Skyrim.
best part dougs acting was actually better then some big actors and I honestly think he should be aloud to do bigger things like this
The sheer irony of the ending should never be forgotten.
So many funny, memorable lines!
level 62, and the loading screen is 69 ..... nvm i just like this video
This was better then i thought it would be, the writing and acting is better then in his previous movies. In my opnion....even tho the other three movies were cheesy, that's really what made them funny and entertaining
Damn, you should post the bloopers
Holy Crap! That was awesome!
I know!!!! This is better than most of the "movies" that come out these days.
Sara Connor hells yeah
surprisingly good
"bountiful amounts of Cheese and Ham!"
Carl was a jerk
This movie depressed me.
This is tragic. I love it
That was good. It had a strong message. I just miss the epic grandness and crossover power like in to boldly flee.
@7:36 Aan Ol's Digital Buttplug Of The Gods. Hahahaha!!! Awesome
This was great and very well done! :o
Good Movie with a Good Moral, but i doubt any of the actual "players" will even notice it.
i loved it, but it also aggrivated me a little, im one of those people that are of the belief that you can ALWAYS change your life around, i hate the idea that it ever becomes too late, unless your rottign in the pits of hell/the ground (depending on your religious and or aethiestic beliefs) then their is always time to change, i mean sure, you can say that if you don't change soon enough people leave and you lose friends and stuff, but even if all your friends are gone, your girlfriend leaves you, ad your alone, you should still change, cuz the next thing that happens could always end up for the best by the time your done, atleast that's my take on life, never to late to fix yourself and or your problems, great though, loved the movie^^
his is true, but i stand by my point that it's NEVER too late to change, but i get what your sayin
DynomitePunch perhaps, but the movie would have been so cliched if it had the typical "protagonist learns lesson and turns life around" ending.
This guy was holding the phone with his foot XD
This would be a lot better if the lead guy was even remotely likeable.
jjmah7
I think the idea is that overtime he becomes more unlikable, thus encouraging gamers not to end up like him and let games take over our lives.
Instead of a movie this would've made an interesting series, game character comes to life and lives with you
wow this is really intereasting
Wow, the guy tried to work hard and make money for himself and his girlfriend, but just for few weeks he wanted to relax in game, and then his gf blamed everything that happened in movie on him, AND THEN he got sucked in the game, where he suffered and died multiple times? What's the fucking moral here?
Be careful what you wish for because you might get it.
And to treat life like an adventure, not like a burden.
"it's got some... bugs, some... BIG bugs..." Goddamnit Bethesda
Very well done critic and nice job Rob!
I wan't to hear more about this "Meditation Safety"
AS lightning said:Moral is:Don't let reality escape your clutches. That is why i quit mmorpgs ages ago.5 hours playing an mmorpg or more, without being able to quit is ridiculous.I mean:Its fun, but then i would have no life.
I was evercracked and pokecracked.
they should do a sequel but dark souls instead.
Why does my microwave look like a yard sale hosted by Bilbo Baggins?
You care much for master Carl don't you
Such love should not go unrewarded.
Excellent video, great message. So glad that guy got his comeuppance.
Enjoyed it thoroughly.
Oh YEAH! Bravo! Hooray!
his movie needed the cinema snob
Carl got what he deserved he thought he could just play the game and everything would work out the point that he neglected his Girlfriend and ignored his job, then when the character he made came to life he acted like Doug’s character accomplishments were his when really all he did was play a game. Hell teachnically Doug’s character was actually doing the work in the game since Carl wasn’t actually in that world he was just controlling/telling what Doug’s character was doing then he has the gal to blame Doug’s character when it was all his fault to begin with
gamestop won't take him back, they will just tell you they don't have any new copies of skyrim remastered
this is freakin awesome!
hes like Roland Dechane the Gunslinger. only with a sword.
So you have read terry pratchett as well.
