Samsung Dryer Drive Motor Replacement
Вставка

- This video provides step-by-step instructions for replacing the drive motor on Samsung dryers. The most common reasons for replacing the drive motor are if the dryer won’t start, stops turning during the cycle, trips the breaker, makes a humming noise, or won’t turn at all, and more commonly defective components have already been checked.

Thank you 1000 times. Only had an issue with getting the blower wheel off. I used a socket over the bolt and tapped until the wheel started to give and the bolt started to push away. Years of use had it frozen on tight. But your video is spot on excellent. Thank you.

Thanks for breaking these steps down Barney style. As I got further along in Disassembling it, I started worrying about how I was going to put it all back together because I lost track of my steps. Love how you showed how to put it back together step by step. Just installed a new motor and so far it has worked through 2 cycles.
So, if you do this job - please note an important couple of steps that's are not really referenced in the reassembly! I learned the hard way, so head this comment. When you install the motor (4:06 mark) make sure it's aligned properly on the mounts and, at the 4:38 mark, be sure you spin the blower wheel around a few times to make sure it's spinning freely. IF the motor is only slightly too forward or too back on the mounts, it will cause the blower wheel to hit/bind up on the housing! I learned this the hard way, went through the whole job and then had to tear everything back down because the motor was pulling the blower wheel out of place by probably 1/32 of an inch and binding up the wheel. Also note, the motor I received had the belt drive (rear of motor) screwed on, and the threads are "normal" which means when I tightened the blower-wheel nut (reverse thread - reference 4:35 mark in this video), it actually "broke loose" the nut that drives the belt. So, I had to basically get a bind on the blower-wheel blades (not the nut) so I could re-tighten it.
Just a note for reference, my dryer is a Samsung DV337AEG/XAA which has a plastic housing around the blower vs. metal in the video but I'm fairly certain my statement above holds true for both.
Nice short and concise video, saved me some coin by doing this myself, THANKS.

Thanks for this excellent repair video. My Samsung dryer belt snapped yesterday. I decided to replace the drive motor on the unit at the same time I did the belt, since the dryer is about 8 years old. Everything went very smoothly this afternoon. Piece of cake. And I saved a fair amount of money.
+bobatnorthwestern That is awesome, thanks!
I cannot be more thankful i have founs this video!

If the blower gets stuck to the motor you can take a drill bit and drill out the center of the motor shaft and continue to go bigger. This worked for me and saved my blower fan!
Just wanted to say thank you. I ordered my new motor from yall to show support for your videos and great customer service.
Yes, this is correct. The mounting nut is reverse threaded.
Best repair video I have seen. Concise, clear, step-by-step guidance. Everything A first timer (me) needed and nothing more. The inclusion of reassembly steps was a major benefit! Great job! Thanks.
Thank you very much for the details and step by step instructions. I was able to fix my own Samsung dryer today :)
You have done humanity lots of goods already.
Really good video and a lifesaver. My only slight critique would be that the order of the screws going back in at the end was different than the way they came out, and I got things a little out of order, but maybe that was as much on me as on you guys. Anyway, thanks again!
Thx for video , I replaced the motor and back in business !
Awesome instructions!! Changed my dryer motor with ease. Thanks so much for creating and posting!
Good work Alex
Thank you! Didn't have to go as far as installing a new motor because I found a sock jamming the blower fan!
Great thanks!
ME TOO!
My fan won't come out. It is fastened in there somehow and definitely just doesn't slide out like this video shows.
I’m having difficulties pulling off the blower wheel, any suggestions?
Same here, mine is loose but seems to be retained by something. It moves a fraction of an inch then stops.
@@snorman1911 Same. I got my wife to help pull and we just muscled it off. I was pretty worried I couldn't do it but in the end you just have to pull harder. It will come off. I'm waiting by the door for the new motor to arrive right now.
@@KevinHollandAllison I ended up taking the whole blower assembly out and tapping the motor shaft out with a hammer. New motor in and we're back in business! Good luck.
@@Atlanta_Cyclist thanks that worked for me. Green threadlocker on mine.
Y’all just saved me money ☺️☺️
Wonderful detailed video

Excellent instructional video. Thank you for posting.
May I knw how much cost for replacement for the motor?
This repair video is just *chef's kiss* "mwah"
Thank you for the vid! Made my motor change a piece of cake
My blower wheel won’t come off. What can I do?
Very good and detailed instructions, followed it as stated and job got done. Thanks!!!
Great video - Changed my Motor on my samsung front load dryer even though it was a different model. For those with a blown motor it might just be easier buying the whole Motor Assembly with blower. Saves the trouble of having to take out the motor clips and removing the blower fan. (Not that those steps were that hard) NICE Write. Saved me a few hundred bucks if not more
My dryer starts, then it makes this clacking noise and my dryer turns off. Is that a bad symptom of the motor or something else? I teplaced all drum rollers and the pulley? Not sure what else it could be
Excellent! Motor replaced with great ease!
Great job!
I watched a couple of your video's now, this one and one for a Thermal fuse replacement. My Samsung dryer stopped. When I hit the start button I hear a slight humming sound and nothing happens. There was also a smell of something hot. Do you think it's the motor? Thank you
66lwmorgan mine just did that today too! Anyone have this answer?
66lwmorgan , how did you fix it ?
Thanks for the comment. This video is just showing how to replace the motor, not how to test components.
It is very helpful video showing step by step. However last step to remove drive motor states use wrench to secure motor shaft and 14 millimeter socket to rotate the mounting nut CLOCKWISE to remove. I have never seen nuts rotated CLOCKWISE to remove and COUNTERCLOCKWISE to secure Is this is a correct instruction? I have been following your instruction and unable to remove the nut as well as mother. Please help.
To do this I found a tool (in my case a vice grip) that was short enough to "hold onto" the belt drive nut and swing down to touch the bottom of the dryer. Then I could put pretty good torque (clockwise) on the nut and got it loose.
The mounting nut doesn’t seem to tighten and releases the motor shaft. What am I doing wrong?
I’ve passed the part of taking the net off and I’m putting the nut back on but the thread seems to be going the same direction as the motor shaft thread. Is that correct? Also I had accidentally put the wires on wrong on the fuse. So the dryer is not heating up. Would that have blown the fuse once I’ve corrected it. Should I order another fuse?
Great write up. Thanks!!!
Awesome video! I have a motor that will only buzz and will not rotate the drum any longer. I have taken apart the unit as shown, but after using my air compressor to blow all the excess fuzz and hair out of the unit, I seem to have a couple extra parts (never a good thing). I have a very small silver spring and a small piece of metal that was just sitting in the bottom of the dryer assembly pan not attached to anything. Any thoughts on what they might be?
Keith Barron What is your dryer's model number?
***** Actually, I figured it out after combing through the parts. The 'extra' pieces were actually broken off of the back of the motor - which is apparently why it stopped working.
Yes, this is what was wrong with my motor also. I had those parts sitting on the bottom of the dryer. I believe these parts are part of the centrifugal start mechanism which will prevent the motor from starting.
Thanks man. Helped a lot
Worked like a champ!! Thank You!!!
These instructions are fantastic. However, I'm stuck. The video shows the tech easily pulling the blower wheel off of the motor shaft. However, mine will absolutely not come off. It rotates very slightly, but will not move forward and off of the motor shaft. Any suggestions for how to get the blower wheel to begin moving?
The blower wheel will sometimes get stuck on the shaft. The problem is there is no way to get to get behind it to knock it off. The only thing you can do is spray some penetrating oil on the shaft and try grabbing the wheel at the edges and wiggling it back and forth. You can also try tapping the blower at the shaft to break it loose . If all else fails you may have to break the old one off and replace it with a new one.
This happened to me also on a 7-year old samsung. I didn't want to sacrifice the blower wheel. Instead I removed the screws below the motor and removed the whole motor and blower assembly. Then I removed the motor mount clips so the blower wheel could move back and rest on the housing. Then I supported the housing, motor down, and tapped on the shaft with a hammer. It came off.
@@hifi239 this is exactly what i had to do as well!
@@hifi239 wow you got 7 years? Mine broke on month 25.
Nice, hammer did the trick for me. We got 5 years out of ours.
After reassembling there are two LONG screws left. Can’t find in video where he removed or replaced long screws. Can someone tell me where they go?
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
Thanks a bunch!!
my samsung is model dv45h7000gw, after loading clothes it and pressing start, it will start and run for about 5-7 seconds, then shut off, then automatically start again for another 5-7 seconds, repeating this over and over, there is also a smell of something hot, do you think this could be a motor issue or a thermal fuse
Joseph Tongue did you ever figure it out? Mine is doing the same thing
Elena R I replaced the motor, it solved the problem. It is fairly easy. This video doesn't represent my exact model but it is about the same.
Joseph Tongue , where did you buy the mortar from ?
I had the same symptoms, new motor fixed it. Double check your motor model # on Samsung's site, and order from Amazon, or the store that made the video.
i have followed every instruction but when it comes to remove the nut clockwise. i cannot remove the nut at all. the video shows it to be easy. what can i do???? please help!!!
Sometimes the blower wheel nuts can be difficult to remove. It may help to use larger wrenches with longer handles to give you more torque. A cordless impact driver (if you don't own one, perhaps you could borrow one from a friend) would also be a good way to remove the nut. Sometimes just sliding a pipe over the handle of the ratchet that is 4 to 5 inches longer would also help. The only problem there is finding the right size pipe. Hope this helps.
Great video!
Good video. I'm kinda disappointed that this dryer isn't at all like mine, visually, yet when I opened it it was exactly the same as this one. Wth Samsung.
So what if you replace the motor and put it back together and then when you push play to run a load there is no noise what so ever. What does that mean?
Hover Dude no power to the motor
One thing this video does not cover is if your blower fan does not come out, it may be glued in. You can use a heat gun or hair dryer to melt the glue
The bolt is left handed :|
waste of time
