Late to the party here but I just got my Vitamix and found your recipe and omgosh it looks amazing. I wonder how it would come out using heavy cream instead of half and half? Also is there anything you might substitute for the powdered milk? I have whey protein powder do you think that might work? Thanks for the video!
This looks great creamy and cold. Deer Park,Wa is just about 20 minutes north of my area of Spokane. Very pretty little town. Grandparents stories are such fun memories and making ice cream is so much fun for children.
Deer Park was all rural when my grandparents owned an 80-acre farm there in the 1960s-70s. My grandmother did all of her shopping in the "big city" -- Spokane!
Thinking about buying a vita mix. Your recent uses of the machine are helpful trials for me to note. Thank you! Try chocolate ice cream next?! It’s hot in Maryland, too! Frances
Kevin I know exactly what you're talking about... I made ice cream the old fashioned way with the handle and wooden barrel type bucket when I went to girl scout camp. It was the best tasting ice cream I ever had. Took a long time to make but was well worth it.
also have a food processor and a Kitchen aid mixer. Not bragging. Just passing on that it's necessary to buy the best. You'll always be glad when good equipment makes your life easier, and lasts forever!
That looks like summer in a dish --er, champagne coupe! Might have to try that with some of the frozen blueberries in my freezer. Hope your summer is going well, Kevin!
This looks great. Commercial store bought ice cream has so much air in it the texture is like cotton candy. It disappears in your mouth before you can taste it.
I only use frozen bananas (sliced) and frozen strawberries (whole) (half defrosted in micro for 1 min). I do let my daughter add mini m&ms on top and I also add pecans. So good. I also don’t mind adding whole cream but don’t feel the need to use it usually.
Hi Anne - I have the "Professional Series 750" Vitamix. You might prefer a different model -- there are several listed at vitamix.com. So glad you enjoy my channel -- thank you so much for watching!
I like the 40 second ice cream. I make something like this in my blender instead of store bought ice cream, because I am constantly trying to control or omit refined sugar from my diet for health reasons. I make mine with plain Greek yogurt, banana, strawberries, mango, or cherries and vanilla extract. I add some milk or half n half. Maybe some ice. In place of sugar I would sweetened with honey, maple syrup, or no sugar fruit spread like Polanders brand. I might throw in some almonds, or pistachios. Your story of your grandparents farm ice cream party reminds me of my childhood when the older couple that lived next door would invite me over to "help" them make peach ice cream in their old fashioned wooden hand crank ice cream maker, on a summer day. I would take a turn at cranking the ice cream, then would sit down and enjoy a bowl of it on their back porch. Lovely memories. It was the best ice cream. I still have a thing about peach ice cream in the summer during the peach harvest time. I buy a high quality vanilla ice cream and chunk up the fresh peaches kind of rustic style(homemade)and mix together. It's like frozen peaches and cream. I did buy an automatic ice cream maker a year or two ago, but sorry to say, I haven't taken it out of the box yet. I thought that I could make a decent sugar free ice cream, as is hard to find in the stores. Can you tell that I'm a serious ice cream lover?♥️🍨
This ice cream was so delicious! I added bananas. I substituted the milk and half and half for unsweetened vanilla almond milk, and strawberry soy yogurt. Used less sugar about a quarter of a cup.
I bet the ice cream you made at your grandparents farm was the best ice cream you ever tasted. Back in the day, our parents and grandparents made everything from scratch. Nowadays, we go more for convenience. Homemade is always better. My grandmother could bake anything and everything and everything was delicious and made with love.
Wow! Ice cream in 30 seconds! Yeay! Thanks! We have all the ingredients plus frozen berries. I hear the angels singing. ♡
Wow!
Delicious!
Great recepit!
Thank you lovely Kevin!❤
Can’t wait to try this! I have a strawberry patch. Maybe in May but definitely in June we will enjoy the bounty!
Great story 😊
Beautiful story, thanks for sharing. I've made this and it really is so refreshing and tasty.
You are exactly right --- this is the best ice cream I have ever tasted! So easy, and bursting with flavor!
Thank you for this recipe and all your wonderful stories down memory lane. This will be great strawberry picking season.

Brilliant and very quick recipe. Definitely worth trying it out. Thank you so much, Kevin.
Kevin, I made this ice cream today! Wow, what an easy, easy and delicious ice cream. I love it, thank you.
Glad you liked it!!
Yes Yum is the Word!
I will definitely try this. Of course, you are lucky you can get half and half and probably have access to farms where you can get fresh strawberries.
Kevin, wow, this is delicious! I just made it. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
Glad you liked it!!

Your ice cream looks Great!!! I remember the old fashioned ice cream Chun!!!! But the ice cream was So good!!!
Yummy. I have turned a few of those ice cream churns.
That looks like summer in a dish --er, champagne coupe! Might have to try that with some of the frozen blueberries in my freezer. Hope your summer is going well, Kevin!
Wow looks fabulous and delicious! Thank you Kevin ❤️❣️can't wait to make this 😋👩🍳
Kevin this looks divine!!!

Kevin, I don't have any non fat dry milk, I always stock a can of Nido full fat dry milk powder. Do you think this would be OK?
The full-fat milk powder should work just fine!

That sounds wonderful, Celia. Thank you.
What model Vitamix are you using? Just love your videos!

@@kevinleejacobs1364 Thanks for replying----fascinating what one can do with the Vitamix, like the soup! Thanks again for your videos and stay well.
Strong work Kevin 😎😎😎

Yummy -- wonder if it would work in a food processor
I don't think this ice cream can be made in a food processor. The frozen fruit might damage the processor's blade.
Which model vitamix do you own?
I have a Vitamin blender. I forgot that ice cream could be made in the blender. Have you tried making hot soups in the Vitamix?
I made Tomato Soup in the Vitamix. 'Twas delicious! Here's the recipe: ua-cam.com/video/iFO34R7JZ80/v-deo.html
Thank you I will try it!
Hilarious story❤

Which model Vitamix blender did you use for this video? I want to buy one!
I bought this one: amzn.to/3SB0yMy. Awesome machine, but not inexpensive!
@@kevinleejacobs1364 Thank You!
Wonder if it can be made in a nutri-bullet blender?
If the nutri-bullet has a powerful motor (like the Vitamix does), then it should work just fine for this ice cream.

That looked like more than a teaspoon of vanilla, more like a tablespoon???
Recipe calls for 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract. You can add more or less as your taste dictates. The ice cream was beyond delicious!
