I asked my family to purchase a Fusion Juicer for me for Christmas, and they did! I have spinal disease and need a lot of vitamins in my diet--but being disabled, I'm not able to make my own meals. This means I eat a lot of canned soups and vitamin supplement/whey shakes for meals. :/ Long story short-- we are returning the unopened Fusion Juicer: we ordered a refurbished Vitamix from your UA-cam link! My mother is so excited about making healthy foods for my our family. Not to mention saving money on almond butter, hummus, soups, etc. I had buyers remorse after we ordered the Vitamix. After watching your videos, I am 100% confident that this machine will pay for itself in a couple of months. Thank you Henry!
I'm a vegan and I love it. I eat twice as much as I ever did and I still lose weight and am healthier than I've been in years. I would encourage you to keep moving in that direction. LOVE your videos Henry and I love my vitamix. Thanks for inspiring. xoxo
Mesha, your post was the post of the week!! Thank you so much. I appreciate you sharing my videos with your family. Vegan ice cream and milkshakes are so close to the dairy versions that you won't miss all the bad sugar, fat and cream. Also to make it more "dairy like" along with the avocado add about 4-5 soy milk or almond milk ice cubes. When making milkshakes just use 1/2 cup of soy or almond milk (not frozen) depending on how many drinks you're making. Thanks for your support!!
Hi DOHCZZ. I agree with you. After doing this video I did more research on Agave nectar and found that it's very high on the glycemic index. I no longer use it and will mention this in a future video. I now use pure maple syrup. It's one of the lowest on the glycemic index so it will not affect blood sugar nearly as much refined sugar, simple syrup or agave. Thanks for your post, that really helps everyone here!
Thank you Henry for this video. I just made it and used frozen avocado and frozen coconut cream. I used stevia as a sweetener, vanilla, salt & cacao, along with 1/4 cup of almond milk. Came out great!! Thank you so much for inspiring me. :)
Hi Ann! Well that's a very old video and my recipe skills have improved greatly. I still use frozen bananas for certain ice cream recipes but please see my more recent video making Chocolate N'ice Cream. Don't mind the Ninja vs.Vitamix competitive showdown. I just wanted you to view the recipe and see the results. Once you see the recipe you can fast forward to watching me create the ice cream in the Vitamix. See here ➡️ ua-cam.com/video/gk1ttH5o_tk/v-deo.html
Okay, my mind was blown when you threw the avacado in there. I've been on a serious avacado kick lately and now I have to try this exact recipe. I can't wait for my Vitamix to get here! I've been watching your videos off and on throughout the day and showing them to the hubby and kids as they came home from work and school, you have everyone in my house waiting for this new blender. Hubby and I are already daily green smoothie drinkers, but now I feel like we are going to the "next level"
Thanks for sharing your recipe! I just bought this type of Vitamix and looked at your video because you were making a vegan style chocolate ice cream. A family member is allergic to dairy and we used to buy a dairy-free chocolate sorbet at a local store but they have stopped carrying it. I'm definitely making this soon!
I got my Vitamix...and within the hour, I had it unpacked, whipping up some Bacon Cheese Potato Soup. For dessert (couldn't stop there), I made a Berry-Banana Brain-freeze: One 5.3 oz. blackberry Greek yogurt, 1/2 t. of vanilla extract, 1 T of honey, 1 frozen banana, 12 oz. of frozen mixed berries. Mixed it up using the frozen dessert pre-set with tamper. Yum!
I am very happy that my videos are helping you Debra. I have more coming soon so stay tuned. Yes, variable speed 8 on the 750 is 10 on the 5200. Even more to this, since the blades on the 750 are 4" vs. 3" on the 5200 blending speeds still can be hard to predict. The newer machines now measure the load of the ingredients and automatically adjust to get the right blend. For example, if you turn the dial to Variable 10 when the recipe is best used on Variable 8 the 750 will auto adjust to 7 or 8.
you are awesome!!!!! henry. i just got a vitamix 750 and will be trying this but will be using honey instead of the G nectar. thank you for the key sentence to make ice cream----> must use frozen peel bananas
Yayyy for Deb! Right on. Sounds like you're already having way too much fun with your new Vitamix. That Berry-Banana Brain-Freeze sounds amazing. I actually have those ingredients. Gonna try that out. Thanks for posting that recipe. You're giving me ideas to do future videos making smoothies from recipes provided from my awesome viewers like you. :-)
Hi Henry, Love the dump test. What a perfect ice cream you made. Wish i could taste some. I have not made any ice cream yet because I am afraid I might fail. After I watched your video, I really should make some ice cream for my family (this time is for my husband)! Thanks!
Hi Debbie. Thank you so much. You are very kind. Actually your hubby is correct. I do enjoy kitchen gadgets. I've always been a gadget guy with everything but my family owned a few deli shops years back and we all had to learn how to cook for the family business. I have All Clad cookware and a Kitchen Aid mixer that I can't live without. I'm an insurance agent so I've been in sales for so many years it just comes out naturally. I'll check out that Pampered Chef. Sounds cool. :-)
I just bought a vitamix 750!! Haven't made anything yet, but Im going to try your carrot juice recipe in a few minutes. Then I'll attempt the icecream, cant wait to try it out. Please keep making more recipe videos!
Thanks so much. I've been learning a lot about this machine and I really enjoy sharing what I've learned with everyone watching. I will be posting another video soon with a full breakdown of this machine's features, functionality and design. Hopefully it will help people that are on the fence with making a decision to buy the VM Pro 750. :-)
Hi Henry, so I just bought the vitamix 750 recently. I think watching your videos had something to do with that decision! Anyways, about this video, i will try this recipe although i absolutely hate bananas. Hoping I won't taste them too much. You see the influence you have! Haha. Thanks again for your great videos!
Hi Jenfriend80. There is something about bananas, when frozen, they become the best ingredient to make vegan ice cream. They produce a very rich ice cream-like consistency. If you don't prefer bananas much you can reduce the amount used and replace them with more avocado and be sure to use almond or coconut milk frozen into ice cubes. You may need to use some banana but the avocado and milk ice cubes will make it richer. For sorbets, no bananas or avocados are necessary.
Looks delicious.. I'm going to make this now. Have to omit the avocado though I don't have any.. But I will definitely try it out next time.. Awesome idea
You rock! Thanks so much for making this video!!! I love you style and attitude! Love the mint and avacado idea. Woohoo! I think you may enjoy the book, "The Sceince of Skinny". Odd title but great book, it's like an encyclopedia and wealthy ingredients and why. I just can't read the book fast enough. Gotta look for more of your videos... I love my vitamix 750!
Hi Frankie2234. Cinnamon, Coffee and Vanilla generally are used to bring out the chocolate flavor in almost every dish where chocolate is the main ingredient. You won't taste the coffee, I assure you. However if coffee is not your thing, not to worry. Simply add an extra heaping 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon. Do not double up on the vanilla as it might be too overbearing in taste. Let me know how it turns out for you and thanks for your support!!
Thanks so much for watching! Yes dairy doesn't work too well for me either. Another good tip, if you want a creamier and more richer consistency pour sweetened or unsweetened almond milk in the ice tray in your freezer so you can make Almond Milk ice cubes. Add about 4-6 to the Vitamix container before blending everything. This will give you a more "ice cream" like consistency. This will be perfect for someone who can't have dairy.
I am learning so much from your videos...and I don't even have my 750 yet! So Vitamix equates an 8 variable speed as being comparable with a 10 on an older model? Did they share anything else on how the variable speeds differ, especially as all of their online recipes are made for the 5200.
Yes, avocado is one of those secret weapons. You can use it to thicken soups, milkshakes and for a richer ice cream just freeze the avocado. It doesn't lose nutrients nor will it change the flavors over your concoction.
Right on Jenny!!! Thanks for the sub. If you ever need any blending tips please let me know. If this is your first Vitamix you will be in for in for a big surprise in terms of how powerful it is.
Henry, I just bought my Vitamix! (with your code ;) ) so worried it was a lot of money, but I am glad I got it! I have already named it (is that weird? haha) i got the reconditioned standard!
Hi Delbert, (love that username) you can use a unfrozen avocado but the best experience for making ice cream in the Vitamix is to use all frozen ingredients so it's ready to eat the moment your finished blending. Thanks for watching.
I'm very happy for you. If this is your first Vitamix, like me, you won't regret it. I already have a couple more videos I'll be posting very soon. Please make sure to Subscribe for the latest videos and press the LIKE button if you will? Take care.
Hey Vanillahugz! Thanks so much for saying that. I've accidentally done that a few times on other videos as well. The LIKE/DISLIKE buttons are too close together. Haha. I really appreciate your support! I have more to come soon. :-)
Hi Tanjiganji, yes, in fact you can make the vegan ice cream in any Vitamix machine. The great thing about purchasing a Vitamix is it doesn't matter which model you purchase, they all blend equally the same, return the same commercial-quality blending results and can make all the same delicious concoctions.
hi henry pj! i have a comment on the freckling of the bananas. that actually makes them more sweet, so don't worry about that part. plus, the bananas a lot of people get that are imported are put in barrels of ripening powder when they are green so the real sweetness never really gets to the consumer. i live in trinidad west indies and we grow our own bananas. even before they freckle they are so sweet it's not funny! so now the question. we grow coconuts too. what i'm wondering is, if i just put the coconut meat (not the jelly from the water coconuts, these are the regular ones you get shredded coconut from) in and don't take out the coconut shreds, then put it in the freezer for a bit and make my ice cream with the pulp and milk, and other ingredients, will that work do you think?
I do not have much experience with whole coconut but if the part you're referring to has liquid, can be broken down from its original state, is edible and can freeze then sure, it should blend well when making frozen desserts. Sorry about stating the obvious but as I mentioned I do not have much experience with whole coconut. Thank so much for watching. :-)
Henry PJ it's all liquid except for the pulp so i will try it and let you know how it works out when i do! and ya, the liquid will come from adding the water just like for making coconut milk. oh and thanks so much for the vids, you really make the vitamix look easy. i had a bit of a time making ice cream the first couple times, but then i looked at your vids again and saw your technique which i guess is the one recommended by vitamix (lol) and then the last batch of coconut milk/banana ice cream got the 4 pillows! woohoo! i'm anxious to try with avacados when the trees start to bear fruit! have a good day!
Hi Lily, thank you so much for your support! This helps me to provide more content to you in the future including videos and more information on my website. If the sticker shock concerns you check the beginning of my video entitled "Look what you can do with a Vitamix". I assure you won't feel that way after you see that video. I've named both of my Vitamix blenders, it's a personal investment to enjoy and better your health. Let me know when you get it and congrats!!! You won't regret it.
Very old video. I have since created newer videos with much better techniques for making frozen desserts. Please check out my more recent vids. Thanks for watching!!!!
Carla I Hi Carla! yes you can. Please check out my latest video. NutriBullet Rx vs. Vitamix S30. I make ice cream using all frozen ingredients in the S30. Churns perfectly. Here is the link and you can skip to time frame 12:48 for the ice cream segment. @watch?v=CS-hP4IXHr0
Agave syrup might not be as good as they claim it is. Google agave and see for yourself. Agave I feel is another version of high fructose corn syrup because of the high heat processing needed to produce the product. Stores charge a premium price for agave syrup which is just liquid boiled sugar from the agave plant. I personally use regular sugar sparingly (which is way cheaper). Another way is to use frozen apple juice concentrate which is ultra sweet and isn't as processed as sugar.
My husband said he can tell that you love kitchen gadgets and cooking, therefore, you would make a great Pampered Chef consultant since their products are on par and in some cases even superior to Vitamix. Check out Stephanie Agee's website at pamperedchef/biz/stephageeskitchen. My husband wants to thank you for the videos that you put out. Your passion shows in your videos.Keep them coming. Avocado adds the richness to produce a more ice-cream-like texture but you just add more almond milk ice cubes.

I have never seen a video where someone shows how they get all the ice cream out of the container from around the blades
+madogblue or peanut butter.
I was surprised that you didn't add a little ice.... maybe it would have firmed it up a bit more?
Very old video. I have since created newer videos with much better techniques for making frozen desserts. Please check out my more recent vids. Thanks for watching!!!!

it tasted too much like the avocado how should i fix this
