  • A new “big back” TikTok trend in which people stuff their shirts while comedically showing how they act when they’re hungry is now receiving backlash in the form of accusations of “fatphobia.” Are fat jokes hateful of fat people, or is it just good fun? Let’s talk about it.

I don't fear fat people, i fear becoming fat.
My grandmother was a beautiful healthy(not skinny, but a healthy curvy) woman in her youth and she became morbidly obese with age and she died a slow painful death with diabetes and kidney failure. She died prematurely and has missed out on so many things she would have loved/enjoyed. Everyone around her watching her decline, not being able to reverse anything, having to give her round the clock care, witnessing her becoming delusional on several different medications.
Being unhealthy doesn't just hurt you, it hurts everyone who cares about you.

This trend is funny. I heard they make funny half-breed jokes too. Half-breeds are all the worst parts of the pure breeds. Nappy heads, flat butts, and enough insecurity to point out the weaknesses of others without offering resource solutions. I've also heard about CRT stories that are entertaining, but crybabies can't let us just laugh and enjoy. They want to sensor light hearted fun. We gotta tell these snowflakes to just laugh it off and endure what others find amusing and emotionally fulfilling.

    • @sincerely-b
      @sincerely-b 23 дні тому +5

@JenniferoftheSea By readily available, I meant healthy "fast food". There's not much at this point. If you're on the road and need a quick meal during your travels, all drive-throughs are pretty much garbage food, and the same can be said for convenience stores. Education on food and health also needs to change. Like I said, people need to learn to cook from scratch again.

    • @desiree5895
      @desiree5895 23 дні тому +3

Ppl also need to stop making the excuse that unhealthy food is cheaper when it's really not. Learning how to cook would help a lot and healthier fast food may help or trying to figure out a way to get ppl motivated to cook bc that's a big issue too. But if ppl ate proper nutrients they'd have healthier minds and bodies and would be more apt to cook and exercise.

Saying that information on healthy eating is readily available is VASTLY oversimplifying things. Are you not aware of the thousands of different diet trends…? That all claim to be healthy? Don’t eat fat, don’t eat carbs, let’s get you into ketosis, eat more veggies but not nightshades, corn is too sweet to count as a veggie, be a vegan it’s healthy, be a carnivore it’s better for you, you should eat paleo like your ancestors, what about an alkaline diet? Or anti-inflammatory? Or maybe Mediterranean is the way to go? People are OVERWHELMED trying to figure out how to eat healthy, they’re tired and their brains are foggy from the junk food that’s easy to grab in between work shifts when they don’t have time to cook, and they don’t have the mental capacity to sift through all the info out there. YOU may have an idea of what you think is healthy, but even another healthy/fit person could come along and completely disagree with you. There is information out there, yes, but there is *too much* of it, and it’s all so contradictory. Yes, people need to eat healthier. Yes, people need to live healthier and be more active. No, it’s not easy. It’s definitely harder for people with less money and less time. Yes, our kids should have more time in school being taught how to care for themselves and their bodies, including learning cooking from scratch. So much time is wasted on BS in public schools, but not on skills kids actually need

@jeanie7555 in particular, ADULT WOMEN, shouldn't be on tiktok let alone social media at all. Women surprisingly don't know how BC affects their brains I doubt any at all know the extent it affects women's brains. Before you say we'll what's the difference between men and women, well, mostly our value/validation systems and natural behaviors. Mens value systems are internalized, hence why we like compliments and remember them, they ultimately have zero affect on us at all. Women's value systems are 99% external. Mix a woman's value systems with a woman primitive need to compete with other women for mates and how likes/DMs affect women's dopamine...our studies found that social media affects women more negatively than actually shooting up heroine. Not much affects seen in men or boys and most of us don't even use social media anyway.
Women are fucking themselves up atm because their brains are on masse warped by the usage of social media.
If you're a woman and made it down this far without allowing your feelings to make you rage quit(lack of emotional control over reading comments is a serious symptoms of how social media is depleting your ability to critically think.) And don't believe this, take 5 months no social media and then go back to it and feel that heavy ass hateful decline into negative mental health lol. 3 ex gfs, still havnt returned to social media. Each one told me they felt healthier. Like yup.
If women on TIKTOK ismt enough evidence for other women then they will be victims themselves and oh well because I can say, most suitable male mates won't put up with tiktok usage unless they're genz gen alpha and have never known life without it

I am a 64 year old blond, full chested, blue-eyed part Polish woman. I have heard sooooooooooooooo many jokes: dumb blond, Polish, etc.... I am so glad that I learned to to laugh. Besides, Dolly Parton would say, people always underestimated her. She laughed all the way to the bank. These past 5 years, I got 'big backed'. When I could not reach my feet to put my socks on, I knew I needed to do something about it. I can now reach my feet but have a way to go to get back to a fighting weight and will not stop until I am there. Patience, work and eating less, water, exercising. And finding something to laugh at. The video helped. Thank you!

There is NOTHING entertaining or funny about laughing at someone’s appearance. What’s incredibly sad is how many NON-OBESE women this hurts. MOST women from my generation(Xennials) have body image issues; which comes along with self-hatred, shame, low self worth, & eating disorders. Shame is the biggest hindrance to progress of any kind. Body Positivity means that people see their bodies as something positive, no matter how it looks.
If you don’t think thin women hurt seeing this, you are prob extremely disconnected from other people’s experiences. Something I’m not shocked by with such a narcissistic population these days.

If people are comfortable with what they are, they can't be offended.
I have autism, there is nothing i can do about this, and people have always been offended that my best friend would call me out loud "f*cking autistic ass !!" or to someone with whom i had a misunderstanding he was like "f*cking autist can't get this, his brain is miswired, stop trying to communicate with him you better ask a monkey to shoot rocket to the moon !".
And people were offended, but i've never been, i mean, that's true, i have autism, and misunderstandings are common, i'm more comfortable with someone being able to joke about it and acknowledge he's aware of my condition but taking it lightly, than with people acting like there's nothing, dismissing issues, and in the end getting frustrated because their expectations were unrealistic and/or because they forget that i have autism.
So, if someone fat is really fine with it, why would he be offended ? Only those that aren't at peace and fake being fine are offended, by their own hypocrisy.

My best friend of 18 years is mildly autistic. I'm ADHD. We'll take the piss out of each other for it whenever we see the opportunity. Same with him being Belgian and me English.
It's just what people who are comfortable with who they are do.

Been working on my big back for years, hours of resistance/strength training and serious protein for a big back. How big? The Lunk alarm goes off when I try to enter a Planet Fitness. Just the complete opposite of the big back trend.

    Obesity comes with shame 🌧️🌧️

  • @godelnahaleth

I'm currently 5'6" and 130lbs, but I train in a dojo 5 nights a week, and I meticulously count calories to stay between 1400 and 1600 per day for 6 days a week, and I get one day per week when I can eat something extra, but without stuffing my gut until my calorie count is tripled or whatever, so I work hard for that. I bust my butt and keep disciplined to earn those extra calories every Wednesday. So those of us who don't have big backs aren't just sitting around and stuffing food and staying slim because we're lucky, we put in the work for that. And for the vast majority of people, not counting the ones who are unable to because of legitimate medical troubles that prevent it for them, they can do the same if they're willing to commit to it.

I don't think anybody actually really wants to promote obesity. I think people just want you to leave obese people alone... Like just leave them alone. There's nothing stopping you from keeping your mouth closed and not insulting another human being...

    Dear Amala,
when you see a person with bad burn scars. Do you then think he was too stupid to stay away from the fire?
And when this person says that he finally feels comfortable in his body again, do you then tell him that he definitely shouldn't because he is a symbol of bad use of fire and thus causes others to burn themselves?
    Hardly likely!
When we see a burnt victim, we do not wonder whether he intentionally set fire to his house.
Why then do we immediately have an opinion about overweight people as to why they are so overweight?
Some overweight people have severe depression.
    Some have a metabolic disorder.
Some people simply have the wrong strains of bacteria in their digestive tract.
Some people are really too stupid to eat really well and take the stairs instead of the elevator.
Some have an invisible disability, like MS, ALS (in the early stages), Fibromyalgia, or something else, their calorie consumption is absolutely through the roof and if they don't want to starve and eat normally, then they get fatter and fatter.
    There are so many reasons.
When someone says at some point after years of degrading bullying, cruel treatment at work, in business, in the service industry and other things: I'm at peace with myself, I finally feel myself again and I own up to my excess weight because I've already been on 100 diets and will never get rid of these fat cells in the long run, then he will be laughed at and it will be said that he is saying that being overweight is healthy?
NO, being overweight is harmful, no one WANTS to have it, but some people have to come to terms with it.

Well, yeah...I workout and eat veggies because Im "scared" of becoming fat, unhealthy, unable to fit in a seat comfortably, unable to find clothes my size without going to a special shop....etc. People with bad habits, morals...etc are simply lazy and instead of working on themselves, everyone has to adapt to them. Do what you want but the rest of us arent obligated to play along with your delusions. Shame(not shaming) needs to come back into society.

I think skinny people should take the word of overweight people and not make these jokes. there’s a lot that goes into the fat experience and this type of videos are triggering and degrading and worst of all NOT EVEN FUNNY!! It’s just too much to explain, but this is bad. I used to be very overweight and then I lost ALOT of weight and people said I was too skinny and now I’m somewhere in the middle but what I learned from all that experience is that skinny people are treated WAY differently than overweight and that’s sad. I hope there isn’t a kid out there crying because of this video but chances are there is.

💯 Also, it’s just gross to laugh at someone’s appearance…classless & tacky behavior!
Most thin people I know eat as much or more than the obese people I know!
      Thin doesn’t = Active Lifestyle
      Thin doesn’t = Restricted
      Calorie Diet
      Thin doesn’t = Dietician
      Thin doesn’t = Medical Degree
      Thin doesn’t = Good Health
BUT based on the comments, it seems that thin people think they know it all & feel entitled to comment on obese people’s choices. It’s comical that people think they know something about a condition they don’t have.
