@@Ted_Kenzoku ct5 should be equivalent of the 5 series but everyone compares it with the 3 series because of the 6 cylinder engine and the price difference(or similarity in this case). it usually happens in the NA markets. k9 gets a comparison with 5 series even tho it is in the 7 series class, etc... I usually end up looking up to dimensions when I see those kinds of comparison videos and this is why this intro is perfect for all of us :)

@Benjamin Martin I have hard time believing. My ATS had something like 20 recalls. Everytime getting a SrX or Yukon as a rental . Example. After a few months they changed the whole CuE computer , something like 1500$ in the warranty bill

@@crimsonstang I understood that there can be a 3 cylinder engine that can make a lot more horses. I said this because that Koenigsegg is sold at a 7 figure price point. Of course it can have a 3 cylinder 600Hp mill with all the tech thrown at it. Of course it's impressive, it HAS to be! Here they're talking about lower end, run of the mill stuff that a mere mortal can afford. A 2 liter 4 cylinder develloping 255 is still really not bad and yes there are more potent 4 cylinder engines too.

@@awesomeone2979 Actually not much of a MB fan, BMW like it better, more towards Audi but that is my personal taste. And yes, not much difference in that Cadillac to other overdone (i.e. tacky) designs of the new Chinese upcoming luxury brands. But it is ok, not much to worry as usual it will be a car that will basically sell with a nationalistic taste, hence not sell very well outside its heartland market, maybe in China where you share similar tastes for over the top cars.

The M sport package for the US is $5,200
Exactly, I was looking at a new G20 and $5200 is not a good value for what you get. I ended up getting another Giulia Q4 TI Sport.

Both 2.0L cars are over 50 grand CAD? Just get a Stinger GT, or a Genesis G70. You get a V6 twin turbo, AWD, rear biased as well, a lot more exciting to drive.

Every time there's a video about a well known GM product here you are with your nonsense. Nobody mentioned the ATS-V, the initial comment was more about what you get for the price and right now the stinger is unbeatable.

my bmw maxes fuel consumption at 39.5l. Can be that + just a kick start, happened to me as well. Looks really awkward on the computer for that moment
Any can can be thirsty, it all depends on the weight of your foot.
To me, it looks like Cadillac isn't ready to take the Germans on head-on yet so they are skating around trying to cover nitch markets the others aren't doing.
They used to do a great job of taking them head on. The CTS-V 2nd gen could come with a 6.2L V8 which was out of the Corvette I believe. If I'm not mistaken it had the most power out of any 4 sedan on the planet and was a monster. Nowadays people buy them used and turn them into track monsters. My friends family drag race and her and her brother both have 1,000hp CTS-V's so they have tons of tuning potential. They really fell off :/
@@Sickwitit18 slight corrections, the 2nd gen CTS-V ONLY came with a supercharged V8 called the LSA, and it was not out of the Corvette, it was shared with the 5th gen Camaro ZL1.
@@vernonprice5986 oh my mistake, the 3rd gen CTSV is the one that has the Corvette C7 Z06 engine. 6.2L supercharged V8 called the LT4. Good catch
@@Sickwitit18 The first gen CTS-V used the LS6 from the C5 Z06 then later used the LS2, the second generation was supposed to used the C6 Z06, LS7 but added the LSA, which is close to the LS9.
The CT5 does have a V6 option on the Premium Luxury version priced at Cnd$54k which would be a more fitting performance comparison to the Cdn$58k BMW. The base CT5 with the i4 like you tested is more like Cdn$42k without the doodad options. Big difference in performance.

The CT5 comes in a 3.0 V6 in the Premium Luxury edition of the car. Its miles better than the 4 cylinder in the sport. That car put a smile on my face the entire test drive!

@@michiganmanmurphy8710 as far as I know Cadillac had to go and stick a turbo to all the engines for this car except for the V series model which is rumored to have the Corvette's old LT4 Supercharged V8. The 3.6 sounds better, is somewhat more reliable and requires only regular gas
Ive seen a lot of your videos reviewing BMW vs Merc or Audi and some others but I havent seen yall review a Porche Panamera. Is it that there isnt anything in the same price range? The Porche looks beautiful and well proportioned now and always handled beautifully. Id love to see it go head to head with the other brands.

Which to choose depends on what you want. James and Thomas are petrol heads so they of course choose the BMW. But what if you want luxury, a pampered experience, a quiet cabin, comfy seats, and style? It even has it in its name, the CT5...Luxury edition. It's also bigger, like 5 series bigger, for a boatload less money. Also, notice the paint. The CT5's white is much brighter, like a new whisper of snow on a mountaintop. The BMW white is more yellowish, like a dog relieving itself on a roadside snow pile in Chicago.
At first i was like M3 vs Blackwing, EHHH not a shot. Then i remembered the ZL1....
Bmw&Mercedes are so outdated even Cadillac has surpassed them in design lol. Yes Cadillac, the old man, new car looking outdated in 1 year, yeah. Bmw&Mercedes has relied on thier name, if Cadillac can bring in driving,reliability they can come up. Lexus is at the fore front, aggressive, forward design, power, reliability and price point, you cant beat.
Having driven the ATS, it's a disappointment to hear that they lost the driving dynamics in the caddy.
Also the new naming scheme and some of the design cues are questionable. Maybe the bean counters at GM are once again making all the decisions

If they’d just clearly explained that V is the new VSport, and that a true V successor would come at launch, it would have soothed a lot of the confusion. The CT5 is a soy-boy vanilla-wafer version of a car with a soggy diaper that leaks... It’s uninspired and lacks focus, on par for desirability with a used 1990’s base model, beige cloth interior, burgundy Toyota Camry owned by an incontinent octogenarian who chainsmoked... Snoozeville interior styling, outdated analog gauges, more expensive than better cars in its category, crap clunky gearbox, who is this car designed for at that $50K+ pricepoint? This is not a niche that anyone really wants. Seriously, pull the Cadillac logo off and slap on “Buick”. Who wants a sub-premium featured high priced underpowered and average handling but crap transmissioned Cadillac, even if the body is somewhat attractive? Didn’t they learn their lesson with the Catera? Apparently not. No thanks. If you are dumb enough to want one, buy one gently used in 2 years from the pre-owned lot, depreciation should have them available fully optioned for $22,999.99 thanks to the financial detriment of the idiot original owner... How slow is it really though? Because these guys drive super cars. The rest of us drive hondas, camrys, corollas, and kias. So im sure the Cadillac is faster than most regular cars. Not everyone wants a sports car.

I dont really go by these car journalists because they're all about performance sedans rather than a regular car comparison. Not everyone who buys the cars will race them. Some prefer a luxury car to be luxurious instead of a super sedan.
Great reviews as always, Fellas. I do wish that these comparisons would include the recently refreshed Alfa Romeo Giulia. You can get RWD or rear biased AWD with 280 hp out of a 2.0T. You can get the sport package with column mounted aluminum paddles with the ZF 8 speed. You don’t need to spec it with a special package to make it a brilliant car. It would have been good to see. I don’t think you two have driven any form of Giulia yet, no?

Best intro yet. The only way it would have been better if you would then go on to try to explain why a "350" badge is on the rear in NM but rounded up to the nearest something even though we use pounds and feet. Also wow does that Cadilac sound awful. I'll take a Genesis G70 3.3L V6 TT for way less

I thought this generation Cadillacs were so ugly. I completely agree that fake window is such a poor design. That said, this video made me look twice. It looks really good in this white/black configuration. The wheels look great and so does the back end.
The pinnacle was that CT6V tho.
The ct4v and ct5v would be great for most people who want a fun usable sedan. This one in the review wasn't meant for enthusiasts in my opinion. I think the Blackwing version will be borderline overkill for most people anyway.

Why they downgraded power on Cadillac? ATS had like 274 hp... GM is so GM...
All reviewers were saying that cadillac shouldn’t try to copy german style of sporty saloons, and should make more luxury based cars. And when they do that, then cadillac out of sudden isn’t sporty enough.
No, they had that with the ATS, they just fucked it up.
The old CTS 2.0T was the LTG code engine which gave 272hp & 295lb/ft torque. The newer CT5 2.0T is now the LSY which at 237hp & 258lb/ft is FAR weaker, likely for the sake of MPG.
The CT5 doesn't start getting good for actual drivers until you get the CT5-V, which is thankfully cheaper than the M340i but quite a bit above the 330i M-sport.

Went and test drove the CT5 Sport today. You're right, wasn't inspiring. I'll keep my naturally aspirated 5.0 liter V8 Jaguar XF thanks. The extra cost in gas mileage is well worth it 🏁

M sport package costs $5200 in the USA. $2450 gets you the track handling package.
Definitely think Cadi nailed everything but the proper engine/power. Love the looks of it and everything else about it.
travis branum interior looks very nice outside....not so much. Looks like there aiming at a more of a senior citizen crowd honestly.
The exterior is pretty nice, the big turn off is the high trunk. I don't know what it is with GM/Ford cars but a nice smooth not quite level but subtle belt line makes a car look sharper and more poised. VW and Audi do this, hell Dodge/Chrysler are doing a nice job in this.

Cadillac needs to go back to being Cadillac. Fleetwood, Sedan DeVille, Eldorado, Seville....that's Cadillac. There is a market for that. Figure out how to do it better, and go back home. If I want performance I'm buying an Audi or a BMW, not a Cadillac.

The 4 cylinder is a nice car, it is pleasant and easy to drive. It is totally adequate for a huge part of the luxury owner demographic, which is older people. They still need cars and it isn’t fair to leave them high and dry and condemn them to an uncomfortable and unworthy camry. For this reason a turbo 4 and a nice ride is a totally acceptable features in a base luxury model.

Current ATS and CTS owners have nada incentive to return to the Cadillac brand. Indirect replacements my foot! I wouldn't trade in my ATS or CTS for this. And I can't go bigger within the brand because the CT6 is gone. Pass on Cadillac!
