When God created my friend Elvis he was just showing off. I can't tell you how much i love and miss him, there is not a day that goes by that i don't think of him and all the memories we made in 10 short years, his death knocked the wind out of me i have never been the same since, Elvis was the big brother i never had. He is also my guardian angel. Graceland is my go to place when it get's to hard to live w/o my friend i go there and walk around and remember Elvis and all the beautiful times we had together. He was the only person in my life that understood me and cared about my feelings and opinions. What it comes down to is we both needed a true friend and we were that for each other. Elvis body failed him but his voice never did he was very ill here. Awesome reaction. God bless you and your family from the one and only Memphis Tn. #forevermyking
Elvis was not so sick in the sense he had a serious disease. He was overweight no doubt and bloated constipated face swollen. He had no business doing this concert at least not in this condition. What is sad is these symptoms could easily be cured. Diet , detox from most prescription drugs, rest and exercise and Elvis would have been a new man in less that 3 months. This was no doubt one the biggest loss in music and entertainment history.
I was at this concert. Elvis couldn’t finish songs, forgot words, his voice was good though. Concert ended early. It was very hard to watch. Notice how quickly this song ended. He had trouble finishing most songs. Trouble breathing. Heartbreaking. Elvis had a connective tissue disease. He had many problems. Ehler Danlos Syndrome. There’s a very good book out by Dr. Tennent. He testified for Dr. Nicks trial. Has all of Elvis’s medical records. This was his last concert. I love him. None of this is criticism ❤
Legend indeed! This was 8 weeks before he died. He was very ill and in much pain, but his voice is more powerful than ever. It was just Elvis and Jesus on stage right there. Very nice reaction. ⚡🥇🙏🤗
My parents took me to see Elvis back in 1976-77 and this was the song my mother, me and a hospice nurse sang to my dad the day before he died. My mother died 5 months ago, so this song has an extra special meaning to me! Love you mom and dad!
He sung this song so powerfully!! No one knew that 6 weeks later he would have left this world. I seen him exactly a year before this and he didn’t seem well then. But he gave us his all until the lord took him home.
@@bobapjok4241 OH store gud= HOW GREAT THOU ART is a spiritual song with text from 1885 written by the Swedish writer and preacher Carl Gustaf Boberg. Carl Boberg wrote the text after witnessing a thunderstorm at Oknö by Kalmarsund. The music is an edited Swedish folk melody. The song is one of the world's most widespread spiritual songs and it has, among other things, d a British TV audience voted as their favorite anthem through the TV program Songs of Praise. In English translation (How great Thou art) it has been sung by several great artists, including Elvis Presley.
The swede Carl Boberg, former member of Swedish Parliament and a preacher, wrote the text after witnessing a thunderstorm at Oknö by Kalmarsund. The music is an edited Swedish folk melody. This song was first printed in Mönsterås-Newspaper on March 13, 1886. In swedish "O store gud".
He should have won more ( politics). It's disgusting how many no talent rap/ hip hop so called artists have be given more Grammys for trash that is called good music. It just shows how far our society has fallen and plummeted to no morals and vileness.
Your face when he sang "Oh, my God, how great thou art" is priceless. Elvis sang gospel songs with his heart and soul. No one will ever be able to sing this song better than him.
And that is what you call.... "The Finish". Noone could finish a song better than EP. Even until his last breath. Just 8 weeks later... we'd lost him forever.
I was fortunate enough to get to see Elvis live in concert! Still have chills thinking about that! It was a known fact he enjoyed singing gospel above everything else!
Me too … September 2, 1976, Tampa, Florida, second row center stage. Forty-seven years ago (I was 19), and I can still feel the magic and exhilaration of that night.
Me too! Pontiac Michigan Silver Dome, January 31, 1975, New Year’s Eve, 62,000 fans! Again in Kalamazoo on September 21, 1976, 75,000 fans! I’m so glad I was so lucky! Just AWESOME!
This song and the (gospel) album of the same name won Elvis two of his three Grammys. The third was also for a gospel performance. Of the nine other times he was nominated - for Rock and Roll songs, and "In the Ghetto", he was passed over by the Academy. Doesn't matter to us - Elvis was the most superlative performer ever. Who else but Elvis could include a gospel song in every concert and get a reaction like this.
I cried when I first saw this! I don't like watching this concert, he looks so unwell. Please react to An American Trilogy from Aloha From Hawaii (hard to believe it was just 4 years earlier) I love his performance of that song which is spectacular!
Pls know that Elvis inherited the genetic ailment A-1 antitrypsin causing COPD/emphysema which began yrs. earlier & at some point he began needing an inhaler to help him breath, yet he managed to belt out songs night after night, year after year. He was having a bit of trouble in '68 during his comeback special when he said, hold it, i’m out of breath wait a minute, then in 1970 at his Houston press conference, & it was noticeable at his outdoor interview in Hawaii. There is a little footage of him in '74 (i think '74) using an inhaler. He also had painful glaucoma & the super bright house lights & stage lights were very hard on his eyes. This filmed concert was June 21; he went on to do another on June 26. Thank you.
Elvis died shortly after this concert. My son had just turned a month old, and I turned 16 in August 1977. I was laying in my bed, and had the old time long transmission radio, as I lay there listening to a song, there was breaking news interruption, and the announcer said Elvis Presley died this morning 8/16/77. I sat up, looked around, got outta bed, and called my best friends momma, who adored Elvis! She was crying when she answered her phone, and I knew then she had heard the news!!
I was at work, had the radio playing turned down low, as I was taking a phone call. They announced his death on the radio. When I finished my call; I thought surely I must have heard wrong. I called the radio station. They confirmed he had died. I started to cry. It was less than 2 weeks before my 19th birthday. Many people throughout the 5-story office bldg. I worked in left work early that day. I couldn't leave. I was a receptionist & the only secretary in my dept. at the time. I was devastated. I worked on the 5th floor. At the end of the work day, we got on an elevator; & as the elevator stopped at each floor, someone was also in tears. I will never forget that sad day. His music will continue to live on. 💟☮️✝️
My dearly missed dad sang this song regularly in our house when I was growing up he loved all kinds of music and I'm thankful that I have inherited his love of good music no matter what genre it comes from in his latter years he even had me tape my son's rap and trance music for him and he loved it miss you always dad 😢
His career never ended. He passed away while still touring. Infact he passed on the day they were leaving to start a new tour just 8 weeks after this performance

Greatest song ever written in my opinion. Not my favorite version, but pretty good and his emotion shows in the performance. i think that is what makes this good.

This makes me cry. Elvis could have lived so much longer if they didn't USE HIM for money, money, money. Same can be said for so many artists. I really have concern for Billy Strings. They are NOT giving Billy ANY time to recoup. It will take a toll. I fear.
only emmy's elvis ever got was for his gospel music and you are correct this song was #1 in the 60's when he first did it. also again in 1972 and then 1977
Listen to Elvis Sing How Great thou Art from "Elvis On Tour 1972. He wasn't sick here like in 77. He died less than 3 weeks after this performance. On Tour 1972 is better..
Elvis has gospel albums because he has so many hymns. He was definitely a Christian. By the way, he passed away on August 16, 1977, so this must have been shortly before he died. A loss to the world, however, we are blessed to have his albums. Have you heard Carrie Underwood & Vince Gill do this song? They even surpassed Elvis for me on that one.
not so much the end of his career, more so the end of his life. a mere two or three months after this he passed. even in his absence his career is making money for his "family". rip

Elvis was singing directly to God. After he hits the first high he has what I call "the Holy ghost shiver"

He was so sick here but performed flawlessly
I have a hard time watching this, it makes me so sad! 😢

Such a beautiful song, no one else can do this performance, like Elvis.

Elvis we will never forget him . He is still a legend to me ❤
Thanks for the reaction AB. He died in 1977, when this was recorded. He and Lisa Marie are together again. RIP both of them.
Thanks for reacting to Elvis again. He was so sick here, but sang beautifully as always. He was and is incomparable. 💖
"How Great Thou Art" is one of the most powerful hymns ever written! Elvis did it justice! 🤗💙🙌🙌🙌
Not just hymn either, just the greatest song ever written (in my opinion anyway)
