    I'm kind of surprised they didn't make sure the U.S. journalists got to spend time in the U.S.-spec car and vice versa, but you definitely made the most of your time there. Any bets on when NHTSA and the DOT will allow cameras to replace side mirrors? Think in the next 30 years, maybe?

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  4 дні тому +8

      There wasn't a huge difference between the two. They were trying to get as many people through the cars as possible. The side camera mirrors aren't as great as you might image to be honest. I'd rather have the headlights.

      @@DrivenCarReviews Thanks for the reply. Agreed, the cameras replacing mirrors seems like fancy tech for tech's sake and added complexity where it isn't needed, but I do wish we would match our DOT headlight regulations to the ECE standard.

    Not quite as clean as the concept, unsurprisingly, but still very nicely styled - a bit less digital than the EV9. If the generous 123" wheelbase translates into a supple, stable ride (which I care about more than a cavernous interior), this might be something to really look forward to.

    Not my style but have to give Hyundai some credit for not following the styling crowd. I guess having the benefit of Hyundai and Kia being usually twins except for styling gives them some latitude to make a to my eye weird looking vehicle (Hyundai) and a handsome version (Kia) but based on all the Hyundai's I see they must be doing something right. They have come a long way from the Pony!

    They claimed to can to V2G, does Hyundai have any details there? Very few vehicles support true V2H or V2G and ot would be nice to know if this would work with so ethi g like Point Guard Energy's home energy backup solution and 25kW DC bidirectional charger.

    • @DrivenCarReviews
      @DrivenCarReviews  3 дні тому

      If it's anything like EV9 (very likely), it's a partnership with Wallbox. From the Kia press release- The second-generation Quasar offers bidirectional charge rates up to 11.5kW. Wallbox points out that combined with the EV9’s 76kW or 100kW battery pack, owners can store five-times the amount of standard home storage system - enough to power a home with typical energy consumption for up to four days.

    Man that thing is ugly in my opinion. The interior is nice but so are all new 80-100k vehicles. Being a yooper from northern Michigan I would like to see a test of the range when it’s 5 degrees out. I bet it’s not 335 miles. When these electric cars get 335 miles of range with 5 degree temps. and can charge 20-80 percent in 5 minutes maybe then I would consider one. And what about resale value? Why would anyone want to buy a 5 year old used battery. I guess some people would just not me. Just some suggestions that they never address in electric car reviews.

    Sorry, but I'm not impressed with the interior design. The rounded elements or design along the door is not attractive. It looks juvenile. And not a fan of the ignition placement, too gimmicky.
    The exterior is okay, but the inserts above the wheel serves no aesthetic appeal or functionality from what I see.
    Overall, it seems the designers struggled with mainstream vs luxury concepts that are cut and pasted together.
