I know he's been collecting for awhile but not buying it when you see it is like a rookie mistake. I been doing this for 10 years now and once you see something rare and a good deal you have to pull the trigger right then and there
Can’t feel as bad as I do with that game. Was my favorite game growing up. I remember coming home one day and my dad handed me little Samson and told me he paid 50 cents for it at a garage sale. I put so many memorable hours into that game. I sold it off with my collection when I needed money. A collector purchased it from me for 10 dollars along with a few other games. Fast forward 15 years later and I started looking to own that game again only to find out that it is grail game.
@@Catprize59487 it wouldn’t have been to bad if it went to something worth it. In my case it went to a car that I owned for a year and then sold. I later sold off my next collection but that Atleast went to the closing cost on my house. The second collection wasn’t as bad mainly because it was more modern games. I think the most expensive game I had was maybe 60 dollars in todays value. That was for a copy of lollipop chainsaw which I had completely forgot I sold. I went to play it last year and then realized I sold it. It’s the retro games that really get you. My only worthwhile game I have right now is a CIB copy of super smash bros for the Nintendo 64. I piece that together for around 70 dollars last year.
@@Mrx7tloma There is nothing wrong with that. I bought 2 super rare games late last year and spent a small fortune on them myself. Just plan for it and budget accordingly if necessary. I sold a few collector's editions to make up for some of what I paid. You could always get a repro as a place holder until you come across a decent deal on a legit cartridge. At least you would have some kind of physical copy and access to the same game as you had as a kid. Those are just some ideas.
I mean twist of an ending! Like a football game that ends in an upset. But dude, you did scared that seller when you caught him at the other booth he was buying at. His expression was hilarious! 😂
Can see it in Rick face. The pain of missing out 2nd time on little Samson. Extremely shocked to see Rick hesitant,he’s normally very quick to close down deals.
Keep on persevering Rick, treasures are still out there! I found Little Samson CIB at a garage sale last summer along with some other NES bangers-Score of a lifetime!
Honestly though Rick it's what tells your story, your journey, your pickups, your successes and your defeats. Yeah I would admit too it sucks for sure, but there is more out there. I remember I went and found Sculptors cut at a store, store wouldn't do less than 1400 and it was damaged. I ended up getting Sculptors cut on a proxy buy a couple months later from my buddy Taylor at the Socal convention spring of 2022 and got it for a steal. So yeah it may not be today, but thats whats cool about game hunting and collecting. We all say it... it's the thrill of the hunt! So you already know, keep your eyes peeled and your ear to the ground. It'll come eventually. Who knows, it may just walk into your store. 😆 To the future of game hunting and collecting. Thanks again for all the special content. ✌️
Now you don’t have to convince someone else to buy a broken video game when you want to upgrade. Find the right Little Samson, and buy it once. Not twice.
The crew for this vid is just the perfect formula. Love editor Rick, but in very small bursts like you have it here. Loving the new vids, especially the store ones.
You got this Rick - better copy awaits! That copy had a few flaws. I know on occasions we say you should “pull the trigger” on good deals, but I’ve regretted settling for items with flaws and finding better copies further down the line. Solid pickups on The Untouchables (great movie!) & Image Fight (great shoot ‘em up - I have that for PC Engine!) Another awesome video as always, Rick! 🙏🏻
Another great episode with Retro. So much NES 🔥🔥🔥 but Retro has them all. I wouldn’t stress over losing Little Sampson. It had a lot of issues. I would pay a little more for one with no issues. I love the NES episodes
I have been watching your channel since you started the $10 Game Collection. You always seem to have a knack for finding some great games out in the wild. With you're luck you will find it in a huge game buy.
I think you will find a much better condition one that you wont hesitate on. The end of the video I thought you were going to bust out in tears. But I understand some of those are very rare to find. Heck most of the ones you were talking about in the video ive never seen before. But I'll definitely keep an eye out for them now.

What’s blowing my mind is that’s the retro city guy. I bought this so much shit from him. I used to go to his Mountain Vista store quite often. I think they scaled down to one shop now. And retro city. If you’re reading this, remember the Star Wars skin PS3 in box. Haha that’s me! Knowledgeable guy.
Everyone has their own story of missing a grail item and looking back on it with so much regret. But the next NEXT time you see it... you HAVE to get it lol! Otherwise you'll just sink into regret for years and years
I have a piano I found at a thrift store. It was the PC one but I was able to make a cable to use it on the NES. The best part the piano had a sticker over the Nintendo logo so it was actually the NES one. And it was boxed.
I feel your pain. I thought Samson was out of my reach until my local store had a copy for 900.00. This was about 5 years ago. I decided that yes, I was going to have a Samson. I sold my Funko Pop collection, when with 1300.00 cash in my hand….and they had sold it. I ended up getting my copy for 1700.00 three years ago on eBay.
Rick go ahead and get one up on Riff and add " It's for my Son" at the end of the videos on this channel as technically you buy gaming memorabilia for your son too. Riff is taking far to long to add this to Pixel Gaming Squad after huge demand to bring it back it kept me watching 👀 his vids to the end. Keep up the great work brother, love the shop 👍
Been stung many times like this so now I don't hesitate, if I see it, I want it I buy it. I'd rather regret buying something than missing out - that stings hard
I think you made the right choice. Yes it was cheap, but in game buying, I live by the rule, "if I'm going to want to upgrade it, then I shouldn't buy it."
I find it interesting that Rick is collecting out of the box NES. I just started, but I am only looking for complete boxed ones. I know that they are getting expensive, but hmmm. Is it really worthy to collect out of the box? Seems so. I dont want to spend hundreds on boxed one. I am still inbetween that and dont know ... lol
I have a collection of nes games, but never planned on completing the collection, because retro games are just too expensive, I have bills to pay.Good luck on completing your collection. 👍
Rick if you read this and if you’re ever in Knoxville Tennessee. There is a game store by my house called CM games at West Town Mall that has Bonks Adventure for 950. I have a CIB of Bonks I bought for 1500 dollars in 2017. I’m not selling my copy because it is one of my favorite NES games.
I would be sad too, but honestly in the long run you're going to be happy to have one that's not half broken, meanwhile I'll just sit here and play it on a multicart LOL
Oh man I was yelling at my computer. 1 that gargoyles quest in the box was a good deal. Loose, not so much. 2 That Little Sampson was a great deal! Oh man I feel for you dude but if sets is what you want, you gotta Cobra Kai that. Strike first!
You know what’s crazy i met they guy who beat Rick to that game a couple weeks ago he’s the store owner of rare n classic in Houston pretty cool dude and good prices in his games 👍🏻

But you can't walk away from something at a con. There's too many people with money to spend. You find it and you want it, you buy it right then and there.

That happened to me once. Last gaming market I almost did it again and ended up running back to get the game I wanted. I just about beat this nerd to it and he wasn’t happy. Now Cyperlip sits on my shelf 😜
you see little samsons all the time at conventions ... but some of the other high end ones that don't demand an arm and a leg pricewise like snow brothers you don't see that often.
Rick, your gut instinct on not buying the Little Samson was right on the money Sir. You would have been settling for inferior quality. That post being broken is a huge deal and the guy that did buy it is definitely regretting it. Great Video as always sir. Chin Up

This is why you buy something when you come across it the first time. Especially something high dollar like Little Samson.
My mom always says that too.
But the moment you buy it you find a better version at the end of the room for $300 less for some unknown reason.
Never fails.
Same I pick up Hagane the first time I saw it
So true he should have bought it
