Game hunting in South Carolina today with the boys at Video Game Cavern! This place was absolutely packed! Not only was the game room floor full but so was the back room. We even got a chance to buy one of the coolest Super Nintendo kiosks I've ever seen! Always on the hunt for retro games, vintage toys and 80s / 90s nostalgia at Flea Markets, Thrift Stores & Garage Sales! Thank you guy as always for coming along with me on my live video game and toy hunt thrifting adventures!

Robin used to be a pretty hot goth chick 20 or so years ago. My awkward teenage self definitely crushed on her back in the day lol.
1000%
Turning down $2K for a kiosk collecting dust that you haven't tested in at least a decade is certainly A Choice.
Seems like she wasn’t looking to sell anything lol
She literally said it wasn’t for sale lmao
@@noahdittman8835 I understand that, but I don't understand why considering it's collecting dust for a DECADE lol
If she liked it that much it would be displayed In her video game store you know the places that actually display these types of things lol
@@joshuahoops9430 exactly lol “sentimental value” but it’s on the floor in the back room
Asking her about buying that SNES kiosk reminds me of trying to buy an old car rotting in a guy's yard that he "is going to fix up someday"
She's gonna see this comment and punch the air seeing people flame her in Rick's comment section
I’ve noticed that mostly with Southerners. They are so sentimental with their hunk of junk. They would rather see it all fade into dust before they even consider maybe selling it which they won’t
🧂
@Charlie B yup I feel you. I offered a dude 5k (he was asking 10k) for a 944 turbo that was basically gone, rusted to the bones; still ran, poorly though. He thought it only had "surface rust." However it had an immaculate super super rare made to order color interior. He didn't know this but, still refused to sell it because you know "a porsche demands a higher price tag," went back a year or two later and it was covered in mold due to the rusted out body leaking into the interior. 944's are/were very cheap at the time, good turbos would go for 5k-10k max, they now go for 18k+ but, that interior alone at the time would have gone for 10k+. Edit: 944's had a ton of very rare, made to order exterior and interior color variations that are and were extremely expensive but, not many people knew/know this. You could literally buy one for 5k with a rare interior, sell the interior to a collector and replace it with a common interior and have a free car.
Reading the replies calling her stupid in here makes me worry for humanity.
If she’s not gunna sell that kiosk she should at least pick it up off the floor and clean it up.
That’s so whack when people only “Collect” Games for $ & not to actually play & collect. Had to stop watching Caleb for that reason it got annoying. Love your channel Rick 😂
Caleb sucks man he loves ripping people off and show it off to the youtube world
Legit same
The collect for money crowd is making it really expensive for the collect and play crowd. Some systems were $20 a few years ago, and now they're $100 or more. Games are getting overpriced, too.
Yep....I don't watch Caleb anymore either. I wouldn't let him in my game store if I owned one.
It's frustrating because I really want to like Caleb, but every time he haggles decent prices, it's like nails on a chalkboard.
A great bunch of You Tubers until Caleb turned up stopped watching his channel a long time ago he would resale his mother if there was profit to be made.
Lol, ya cause we all don't buy low to try to sell high give your head shake
So annoying and unlikeable only cares about money it’s sad
You have the most awesome videos on UA-cam retro Rick sincerely Wayne
I’m pretty sure she’s selling it to S.C. Johnson,so they can do a commercial for their cleaning product Pledge.
She says the Kiosk isn't for sale... yet it is on a cement floor with a TV leaning on it... take care of your stuff dude!
Man, I'm not local anymore but that was my childhood game store. I remember picking up pokemon yellow there, the one I still own. Really threw me back lol
That's awesome. My old haunt was Walden Software back in the 80s. Back in the days when you bought software in sandwich bags that were thumb-tacked on a cork-board.
I helped someone work on a project at their house once and they told me they would give me a sega system for helping. I thought it would be a genesis, boy was I surprised when they handed me a CDX!
She really turned down $2k for something she has dusty and not on display smh I would understand if that kiosk was clean as hell and in the front.
Agree - just dumped on the floor, untested and clearly unloved but "sentimental value"? Uh, ok
🧂
She is dumb.
phoenix resale late to the deals. never thought i'd see that.
Caleb makes me want to run 🏃♂️ run 🏃♀️ run 🏃 away…. I turned to Retro Rick because I feel he loves the games & collecting vs just being in for $ .
There is nothing wrong with being in it for the money. I mean I love Retro Rick, but Caleb is great as well.
@@VinnyVidiVintage yes
@@VinnyVidiVintage i agree ☝️ Caleb is great 👍 it’s more of a preference thing for me personally…. A lot of viewers here like both I just love ❤️ Retro Rick because of his love ❤️ for the games Caleb is great to watch & learn as well. Go watch Caleb & Retro Rick respectfully.
Rick literally shills for WhatNot on almost every video. Not saying that is wrong - but I'm not sure why you'd support him yet hate on Phoenix Resale. Rick literally owns a video game store...so they kind of do the same thing.
Retro Rick doesn't know who AVGN is but Phoenix does
I found a super nintendo kiosk on Facebook Marketplace recently for $550. No monitor, but the light does work and the guy says he has the original display console as well. Should I pull the trigger on it? It's fully complete minus the TV and the giant stand it sat on it the store.
Probably not if you have to ask people online... Do some research on it for it's "market" value... Compare prices to other sold/listed in similar condition. At the end of the day the $550 is completely up to you to spend. It's either worth it to you, or it's not ya know?
@@hydren7600 I get what you are saying. I am currently doing research ,but was just hoping someone else may know more about kiosks than I do. It's cool for sure ,but it's hard to find a number on it ,because they are all over the place. Nothing as low as what this guy is asking though.
Did you end up purchasing the kiosk?
I'm gonna drive there Saturday and see if she'll take $5000. I doubt it, but I have to try. My best friend and I spent nearly every day at the Sears in Anderson Mall SC playing Super Metroid on one of these. I'd love to have it.
I love displays! ❤️
CollectorsLuck what is a Nintendo Grail
@@joetatro5415 There are too many, but that WoN cabinet and the SNES kiosk are among them.
I have a lot of Super Mario figures both2.5 and 4" figures
I love how you show a little game play from the games you talk about. Legendary
tired of collectors shaming flippers . some of us are broke bro! i'd love to look at a collection and play it but i also love to look at food in my refrigerator.
That SNES kiosk is a nostalgia TRIP. That and the Game Boy ones are peak childhood nostalgia for me.
Same bro, I played so much SF2 on one of those kiosks at Toys'R'Us as a kid.
I paid $600 for my Super Nintendo Kioisk last year but can’t find anyone to repair the tv
same here
Welcome to Off-White Central, where every item you see has been finely antiqued with the last human owner's skin cells and aunt Jackie's nicotine habit.
Im lucky to have a complete snes kiosk in my collection. A gentleman that I used to repair consoles for had a store. He sold his business and asked me if i wanted it... Ofcourse i said yes so story short... I got it for free.
Another great store brought to us by Retro Rick. I love all the items that you showed. The commercials that you add in between the footage always takes me back. Thank you for that. I love me some 8 bit NES but once Sega Genesis came out I was all in on that system when comparing it to the Super NES. Always looking forward to the content
I came across an N64 kiosk in Fayetteville, NC. The dude wanted $1,200 for it. I wanted it, but didn't need it or the debt. Lol
One day, I'll get one.
Game chasers were there few years ago and that kiosk was in the exact same place
Greetings Y'all. Another great vid from Retro Rick. Let's get it started!
That was a bad ass game 🎮 store ever 💯
Instantly stopped enjoying the video when Caleb showed up
The genesis was my favorite console. I never had anything Nintendo.
Most of the video all of you were goofing off. I want to see some buying.
You were a Christian bro? What happened? God loves you and wants you back
The video game art frames I have found them at my local Burleson Coat Factory for around $10
I inherited all of my fathers game systems, he was a avid collector. His oldest system was a RCA Studio II video game console. Ten different systems, still in their original boxes. My favorite is the Turbo Duo. I never use them because of a NES looking box called the Super Console Cube X3 that has over 110,000 games on it from sixty different consoles. It works pretty good, my dad would have been in heaven playing it. Thanks for your video, great to watch! Happy gaming!
Heyyy, I made the earthbound painting! I actually have prints if you want me to send you one!
I actually thought the Genesis was a pretty good console and game catalog. It was a little bit cheaper sometimes for the games then Nintendo then.
Hey. There's a pikachu plush from 1998 that looks like the old fat pikachu in a store near where I live. I really want for your store to end up getting it for your new store. I love your channel btw. If your instructed message me
nintendo super mario 3 watch..
🤘
did you know earthbound is retro ricks favorite game?
is nobody going to mention the Virtual Boy?
Good stuff man
I always hear the differences so for the record which is it actually?
Mare E-O
or
Marr E-O
??
Dreamcast>genesis prove me wrong
I like money! Rick showed Caleb for like half a second hahaha
In Argentina (Buenos Aires) I saw a almost new, in box, Superman for the N64... for the weird price of $110. I saw it this weekend when I got a boxed Goldeneye 007 that I got for $70
The rare game cube store kiosk I saw only 1 at the Shriners hospital I never saw a McDonald’s or Best Buy
Great time bro! I forgot we filmed this!? Lol
I don't care what people say, the Sega Genesis was an awesome system. I know some gamers like to "take sides" and choose either Sega or Nintendo for those kind of discussions, but honestly, I loved and played games from both. I was that kind of gamer nerd as a kid. I feel absolutely blessed that I've essentially gotten to witness the majority of video game evolution from when I was a kid and the original NES and SNES stuff was around.
The only thing that bums me out about all this is the most "modern" stuff for companies like XBox and Playstation are trying to opt for more "digital only" style of gaming, which I don't think is right at all. I prefer if gamers have the OPTIONS for either digital or physical gaming. But that's just me.
IT has a lot of sentimental value, yet it sits untested in a GAME STORE OF ALL PLACES, with 10 layers of dust and just crapped out on the f* ground... Yeah lady, money talks...
Best genesis you can get, without doing big mods, is a european megadrive 1 1600-09, with native RGB and SCART output, only mod it for regions and 50/60hz and it's enough to get a clear nice and perfect picture, not the composite garbage from any not heavily modded "genesis". Not surprised the genesis 2 is staying on this shelf, it's a real pain to even find one with proper sound chip instead of the usual genesis 2 garbage sound.
When I was a kid in Middle school(I’m 44 now), my neighbor got a Sega Genesis and a Turbo Grafx 16(sp?) at the same time I got the original NES…it was a good summer!!!
Caleb walked in and I walked away cheers
Right?
LISTEN NOW WHEN IT WAS NEW IT WAS GREAT AND EVERYONE LOVED AQUATIC GAMES TRUST ME 😂😂😂😂😂 YOU MUST BE YOUNGER THAN ME 😂😂😂😂. Mario 2 was a flop lol
says he doesn't have Gold Medal Challenge '92, yet...... DOESN'T BUY IT!
me: ???????????????????????
You have to use your hands?!… Thats like a babys toy! 😃
Oh oh phoenix is in the house. Let the haggling begin.
Hearing him say “look at that Zelda” while he’s holding Link hurt me.
The Genesis 6 buttons were almost completely neccessary to not do SNES... but once u had em in '93+, fighting games plus others proved they were waaaay cooler on Sega, with some added street cred.
If you were on SNES then, in retrospect you probably made the right choice, especially spec wise, but u def didn't have that edge in elementary school that my MK1, streetfighter 2, or samurai showdown did. Mario 16 bit was mostly an old joke at that time, go play NES dork, we in 16 bit land now.
Shoutout to Riff and his on point awesome editing, so many little touches here and there that just make these videos pop.
bruh when he called out the whathisname with "i like money" :D
I still have sonic spinball. I got it when it first came out. 😂 sheesh I’m getting old
Look at that zelda.
They have so much game gear! None of my local stores carry many game gear games (although I feel like I’m the only person playing the system at times)
Love the game gear!
To each his own but it blows my mind that people are obsessed with some of these retro games. I mean phantasy star is my one exception but seeing people pay the amount they do for 8bit games because it reminds them of their childhood or for millennials because it's the " latest fad" is just dumb. Like why the fuck would anyone prefer playing an 8bit Mario game over the games of today.
I truly believe it's just a thing because people today are sheep.
I mean there's a reason consoles are constantly improved upon.
You want to go on a retro console for Sega it would be the Saturn, so many more amazing games and so expensive nowadays. The Megadrive isn’t cheap but the Saturn is way more expensive for rare hardware ( hi Navi Saturn or the SGX). I talk about the market value only. I guess it is only my point of view from a guy who lives in Japan
Alternate title: When 12-year-old boys are trapped in the bodies of 40-year-old men 😂. Love the youthful energy
I have stacks of nes games I don't care for, yall can have them, I'll take snes and n64 games, lol the snes kiosk is neat! I have the Xbox and ganecube units thanks to closing gamestop stores.
And genesis is kinda meh..
Yes! I thought I was the only one who thinks the music in Mario 2 is the frickin best. It's so nostalgic for me that summer it came out right around when the movie The Wizard came out. Playing it all summer long at my friend's house. Mario 2 is the best Mario of all time, every body likes M3 but no way it's all about M2.
🤘😁👍
What makes that kiosk great is the zenith 1492 screen with the flat tension mask that was a first for the time for the PC. I had one for my PC at the time it cost a fortune back then but was so worth it. It only did 640*480 but Nintendo's game were less resolution than that by far and the monitor had a pitch black background made amazing contrast. The monitor only had a VGA connector so Nintendo had a custom connector for it.
that Super Mario Brothers 2 was re-localised in japan as Super Mario USA on the Super Famicom satelaview and gba.
That woman's just a money grubber, look at the state that it's in, on the ground, not even complete, and it's supposedly a sentimental piece, come on, stop lying woman, money, money.
I do think Sega genesis gets overlooked a lot. Sega genesis was my first console, so I've always been more of a sega fan. Even though every daycare and other place had things that were nintendo, never felt like mine.
The gamexchange in tahlequah literally sold me a 3ds that didn't work after i sarcastically asked if it works they been selling me bunk stuff
Sentimental value. SMH. Leaving it caked with dust in the back room on the floor and leaning halfway over. Sentimental my arse
“Look at that Zelda…”
* cries in Link *
Awesome stuff
Did I just have to watch 15 minutes of video to get to your prized item? Quit with the clickbait and filler.
I've just found you and it seems like people talk shit and put down each other. Also get mad if one person buys something if someone wise wants it.
Earthbound is my favorite game too.
If the SNES kiosk is so sentimental to her, then why is it laying on the ground dirty/dusty in the back of the store???
I love watching this stuff
I'll never give up on the 90s games!
Ugh I got one of these for $30.....and my Dad threw it away cause I had it stored in his basement and wasnt using it....🤢
Enjoyed the video I've been watching your videos since before you owned a store!!!!
Wait a sec, Rick bought the game store?
I bought a sega genesis system that I had as a kid with the red light. It came with a yobo controller but I asked for a sega brand controller and the person let me switch it so that was cool. It wasn’t the normal sega controller but it did say sega on it. I bought some games for it just to test the system and then I brought those back cause those games lol yeah not for me. I came back a week later and they had the lion king and Aladdin for it so I got those. They didn’t come with there manuals but they did come in there cases. It turns out the snes has better sound for these games where the sega just sounds like off brand. I need to find a nice snes system. But I normally game on roms now so like I feel as if I’m wasting money. 😅
too strange that folks will look past the actual games and consoles to purchase empty boxes. weird world you're in.
For me the Game Boy kiosk is the true grail, I guess more so than this because it functions in a way that you just can't replicate otherwise. Playing Tetris on that full screen green tinted CRT, something I haven't been able to do in 30 years now.....that was always something I wanted to land but as time goes on the price just gets more outrageous and the opportunity to even get one is less and less
Would be nice if I knew the channels to look for the videos they are talking about but no names no introductions no channel links no way to find them great work guys
Phoenix Resale.. gross. @8:34
I'm done with gambit *immediately sells all the games and never plays them*
Between you and pixel plus I get my game fix 👍
That was a cdx not a cdi, it can play Sega CD and genises carts but not cdi, so if that cut away to the commercial shows yes you do know about that cdi stuff
Found your channel thru retro plus and loving the N64 challenge
This journey gives me up, This past summer my aunt had her N64 system and all the games stolen, she was absolutely devastated. That was her favorite thing and it’s all gone. She played it almost everyday. I hope I can one day help her rebuild her collection. Watching this journey gives me hope.
Try local thrift shops/Goodwills, pawn shops & browse Offer Up. Deals are out there!
Swap Meets & Garage/Yard Sales are also good but unpredictable.
I'm truly sorry some P.O.S. did that to your Aunt.
@@e3man01 yeah, I started, just havent had much time with work. and yes and absolute P.O.S
Lol, the grail? That's just the store down the road. There are two more in town one is worse, one is better. I'll leave that to you to figure out.
I kept all my boxes when I was young but my mom threw them out when I went to college....I was very upset I had some great ones
Got a notification this morning and thought it was a new video but no it was yesterday’s video only 15 hr late😂
I live down maybe 10 mins from the store and use to buy games consoles etc from them years ago! Super nice people but goddamn the prices are insane now and at this point just emulate it haha
I love Video Game Cavern. Been shopping there for nearly 20 years for my retro game needs. Robin is amazing. Anytime I’ve been looking for something obscure if they think they may have it in the back room I’ve been invited back there to have a look. Definitely best game store in upstate SC.
I remember playing the snes kiosk when I was 13. Got it for Christmas that year.
Kiosk would be better than arcade 1up!
Highly sentimental, but leaves it on the floor being tripped over and gathering dust 😒
God damn…how many GameCube controllers do you need? You got to be kidding 😂
