I'm glad I completed the NES set (minus SE) a year or so ago... For some perspective in October of 2020 I paid $1,500 for Little Samson from a game store in my area. It was the last expensive game (minus SE) that I needed.
Sweet baby Jesus. An episode on just NES. Man you had me hooked. And on top of it a lot of heavy hitter. Great pickups as always. Space shuttle launch is such a great game but love that blue on the cover. Man you can’t be mad at the man that didn’t want to sell little Sampson. That’s definitely a grail and game you don’t see. Yes he had it out on display but it’s more of a flex. As always Retro great content. Always 🔥🔥🔥
I get super frustrated whenever someone doesn't want to sell something they have out in their store. There's a local 'flea market' I go to, and the lady has tons of video game stuff under tables so I dig through it all just for her to tell me she wanted to wait for someone to come price it for her before she sells the stuff. I also went there one time, and there was a 4k player with no power cord, and she wouldn't sell it to me because of that reason. He must have been hiding something if he didn't want to sell it, or maybe he just had too much sentimental value in it to sell.
Some great finds! I think the end is the best though with you taking the entire condiment counter. I know it's not used but it's still a great aesthetic.
I had a similar thing happen to me at a coin show. Asked the dealer for a price on Day #1. Told him I would think about it and come back later. Come back Day #2 to deal with him and he tells me it’s no longer for sale even though it’s still laying in the same spot. Not that it’s been purchased or being held, he didn’t want to do business with me. Not sure what I did to piss him off.
Deals of any sort, but especially in a more casual environment like a convention, are dependent on both sides agreeing to the deal and it's terms. A fancy way of saying that you both need to agree to the sale and until you do there is no sale. If he wants to change his mind and not sell something that's fine by him. Like I said at a convention this isn't walmart where you take something to the counter and pay for it. This is a person with his personal games making sales as he sees fit. However if you feel frustrated or even angry I think that's understandable. Just because you feel angry doesn't mean he needs to sell you the game though either. TRDL you are both right.
I once changed my mind selling my NES collection including Little Samson. I was not malintentionne, it's just that the enthusiasm surrounding my collection made me doubt that I should sell it.
I’m 24 games away but there’s nine I’m conceding. Stadium Events, Hot Slots, Peek a Boo Poker, Bubble Bath Babes, Cheetahmen II, the three NCW carts, and the gold Duck Tales. Power Blade 2 is the biggest title I still need.
The prices of these games just seem to be going up and up and up. Maybe he figured he could sell it for more a year or two from now. I bought zombie nation for 350 2 years ago....these days I'm seeing it for 800 at conventions. Ridiculous.

If I see all those loose cartridges I always wonder what happend to all the boxes that where around them one day. For some reason I always find it hard to believe that people have throu it away
you have to understand that back in the day, pretty much all of these boxes were of paper/cardboard, thus deemed as useless or garbage. Also, a lot of parents/grandparents bought these games for their kids/grandkids. Besides, they're not hard plastic like modern stuff is. And even to this day, I see people throw away switch and 3ds cases.
Mistakes happen sometimes with stock, but he should have pulled it the first time you brought it up. One of the worst experiences I ever had a comic con was when the guy decided that every comic I tried to negotiate with him on was no longer for sale.
Perhaps it was a fake, he knew it, and knew who you were. How would that go down for his future conventions if a 146K youtuber bought a fake game from a dealer on video at a convention? Why else would he suddenly decide he wanted to keep it if it was still on table for sale?

I live by this rule. If I see it and I really want it, its a good price and I have the Mulah then I buy. Cause too many times have I waited or not had the money and I go back and its giddy, giddy, Gone.
I made a deal through email to buy a bunch of SNES games. Wild Guns being one of them. The guy figured it was way more. I think over a 100. And he got another offer. I offered him 20 which was less than the other guy apparently. He ended up doing the deal. Nice guy
I picked up Little Samson recently for $1800, talked them down from $2000. They also had Jetsons and I got $150 off that too. Ended up with both games for $2100

I call repro on the Samson. There is no way it would just be shrink wrapped and tossed in with a $0.50 ice climber filled rubbermaid bin. He didn't wawt to sell it to you because he knew you would know and expose him for selling fakes. Even a beat up Samson would be in a game case within a locked glass case.
I mean….he probably should’ve pulled the game if he didn’t want to sell it….I typically don’t sell my games or systems I mostly collect them…I mean someone can change their mind I totally get why you’re frustrated about not being able to buy it because you wanted to buy it I totally get it…like if I go to buy a video game I wouldn’t want someone to be like “oh this game isn’t for sale…”. I totally get your frustration but at the same time if he really didn’t want to sell the game he should’ve pulled it back and put it…anywhere else if he didn’t want to sell it.
Opportunity is blessing and not a guarantee. It fades away quick and it never comes back
In 2005 I started collecting NES games all over again. I bought a cib Bucky O’Hare with all the ads in the box for 8 dollars. I bought it because I never see it in stores. Now it is worth a lot more lol in 2014 I bought Little Samson for 1000 dollars.
I'm glad I completed the NES set (minus SE) a year or so ago... For some perspective in October of 2020 I paid $1,500 for Little Samson from a game store in my area. It was the last expensive game (minus SE) that I needed.
He probably sold enough throughout the weekend where he felt less needful of the sale and got a lot of interest and thought the price could go up.
Always 🔥🔥🔥
im currently sitting at 546 nes games some of my more expensive games are zomibe nation bubble bobble part 2 mighty final fight snow bros
Yo I was curious what kind of camera you use for these kinds of videos
I get super frustrated whenever someone doesn't want to sell something they have out in their store. There's a local 'flea market' I go to, and the lady has tons of video game stuff under tables so I dig through it all just for her to tell me she wanted to wait for someone to come price it for her before she sells the stuff. I also went there one time, and there was a 4k player with no power cord, and she wouldn't sell it to me because of that reason. He must have been hiding something if he didn't want to sell it, or maybe he just had too much sentimental value in it to sell.
Score any great early 2010's deals Wesley? In 2013, an old chinese lady sold me power blade 2 for 7 Canadian dollars!
No you didn't
always a pleasure when Gabbo hits the screen
Love the Game Genie jacket
Deals of any sort, but especially in a more casual environment like a convention, are dependent on both sides agreeing to the deal and it's terms. A fancy way of saying that you both need to agree to the sale and until you do there is no sale. If he wants to change his mind and not sell something that's fine by him. Like I said at a convention this isn't walmart where you take something to the counter and pay for it. This is a person with his personal games making sales as he sees fit. However if you feel frustrated or even angry I think that's understandable. Just because you feel angry doesn't mean he needs to sell you the game though either. TRDL you are both right.
I agree with you, if nothing is said and done he is free to change his mind. Most youtubers like to b**ch when something doesn't their way.
Amazing Gear Genie Jacket Dude
If you move Godzilla 2 to the right there is a copy of Twilight princess on gcn. Maybe no biggy in the US, but these are rare in EU.
Most collectors don't believe another collector has a rare game until they see it.
When I started collecting games, a complete set back then was CIB and not a complete set with carts...
I once changed my mind selling my NES collection including Little Samson. I was not malintentionne, it's just that the enthusiasm surrounding my collection made me doubt that I should sell it.
whomp em was one of my favorite games growing up!
Been subbed since under 10k, the growth!
You should never use clear bubble wrap on printed circuit boards as they produce static.
Remember borrowing Little Samson from my neighbor. Great game, but would never thought the value would skyrocket like that.
Rick has, as my dad would call it, "the gift of GAB". My gawd, dude could charm a washing machine! I'd be afraid if he came near my booth
He gave you a price, you walked away. Tomorrow is not guaranteed.
The prices of these games just seem to be going up and up and up. Maybe he figured he could sell it for more a year or two from now. I bought zombie nation for 350 2 years ago....these days I'm seeing it for 800 at conventions. Ridiculous.
I remember playing some of them games when I was a kid I used to call them Nintendo Tapes lol
As others have said, it's weird that he had an expensive game mixed in with some lower price ones.
It's not really negotiating if you ask, "what's your best" they give you their "best" and you just say ok. Gotta go for that extra $5 off.
love that nba jam shirt you have i picked up a project 4 player nba jam arcade for $40 and it’s only missing the marquee and the monitor but i have all the other parts also been watching for a long time love your videos also gonna start posting arcade videos and hunting for games soon keep up good work videos make the day better
EXCELLENT EPISODE! FANTASTIC!
AND YES I AM YELLING
In your game counter you should put the amount the collection will have when it’s complete. Like 481/10000
Or however many games there is.
A lot of videogamez for sure! Great video as usual
Any advice where I can find the complete list of nes games? Thank you
Mistakes happen sometimes with stock, but he should have pulled it the first time you brought it up. One of the worst experiences I ever had a comic con was when the guy decided that every comic I tried to negotiate with him on was no longer for sale.
I’ve had that happen before. Very frustrating. Was at San Diego ComicCon when comics were the thing (late 80s).
I knew I should have bought all those games at the Goodwill back in the day when they were 3 to 5 bucks.
Perhaps it was a fake, he knew it, and knew who you were. How would that go down for his future conventions if a 146K youtuber bought a fake game from a dealer on video at a convention? Why else would he suddenly decide he wanted to keep it if it was still on table for sale?
Nice!!!
nah Jay wouldnt stand for that shit (the game chasers)
Hey, Retro Rick! I am a HUGE fan of this channel! I love the content twice a week!
However, I have a suggestion for you for a future series. Since you have the complete North American GameCube Collection you bought from RetroWolf88, you should make a complete collection of North American PlayStation 1 OR 2 games.
I had something like this happen to me with car parts. We had a price and a day I would pick them up, then a few days before said he changed his mind and wanted to fix the car. It upset me a lot, because I really wanted it, but it happens to everyone.
Wizards and Warriors for NES was awesome game.
Guess my copy of little samson was a bargain. It came with a NES and 3 boxed games for 200 bucks
I live by this rule. If I see it and I really want it, its a good price and I have the Mulah then I buy. Cause too many times have I waited or not had the money and I go back and its giddy, giddy, Gone.
When you say you are going for a complete nes collection. Does this also include Stadium events ?
Always good to see you Rick. Been a while.
Ended up with both games for $2100
Wow what a epic episode Rick. I have some of those games and others I'm still looking for.
