- Walking the Waterfront (The Bund) in Shanghai China. I hope this video can bring joy to someone regardless of my cheap gimbal. The Bund is a waterfront that stretches down the Huangpu River for about a mile. A great place to photograph the skyline of Shanghai. It's been a while since I've uploaded a video as social media is blocked and my vpn was down. Almost impossible to get a video uploaded so I flew to Thailand for a week.

Because of the dense population in China, the houses will be built very high, the roads must be spacious, the high bridges and multi ring roads can ensure that the city will not be paralyzed

I usually shoot my videos using the Ronin-S gimbal, but I left it in The States to travel lighter this time. I bought a cheap gimbal while in China to make this video and ended up with the shakiest footage of my life. I started to scrap the video, but Shanghai is beautiful I thought someone out there would enjoy it anyway. Used some warp stabilization to smooth out the video, but it came at a cost. I'll be picking up the Ronin when I return to The US. Happy Monday!

Yeah, covid sucks serious balls. I usually do at like 1 or 2 trips per year. To Europe, or Asia or something. But it has been over a year now since I’ve left the country. I can’t wait to be able to travel normally again.
The only city that I can travel to right now is NYC since it is only an hour away by train for me. Don't get me wrong, I love NYC, but I would love to visit the cities in China. The cities there look very cyberpunk which I love.

It doesn't just look futuristic, but also so clean and orderly. That's the difference to NYC. NYC also has tall buildings and lots of lights, but it's really very dirty and sort of not well taken care of and chaotic.
I think another difference is that Chinese cities (compared to other metropolises) have a much darker lighting. Probably has to do with the widespread use of LED lights as opposed to incandescent. Nothing against Seoul or Delhi deciding to light the place up like its noon, but the darker ambiance is just more relaxing.

Well New York is a much older city. Many of the skyscrapers of New York were built in the 1930s. Shanghai didn't start to explode in growth until the 1990s. Hence why it looks newer and more futuristic.

Even more stunning when you realize that the Shanghai from just 30-40 years ago looked nothing like this. Most of China’s cities back then tended to be poor, polluted, underdeveloped and relatively small. The rise of China to what it is today has been nothing short of extraordinary.
I love New York and Chicago Skylines...But this Skyline and absolutely Amazing and so much more Futuristic.This is definitely the most beautiful Skyline i've seen.
The most amazing thing to me is that, 30 years ago, virtually none of those buildings existed.

I've been to Hongkong. Hongkong is nothing compared to Shanghai. In Hongkong a lot of streets are extremely dirty. While in Shanghai it's clean. Hongkong is kinda like New York.

In october 2022, I casually watched this video, like many others, but for some reason I felt a huge desire to learn chinese. I didn't understand why. On the same day, I started watching chinese classes and now, after studying it with passion for 15 months, I can already speak the intermediate level and I can only wish to become more and more fluent. I’ve lived near NYC all my life and I’ve seen very few skylines that can compete with it, at least in the US. That first view gave me chills what a beautiful city. I want to visit now, Tokyo too.

I don't know. I've been to Shanghai many times, as beautiful as it is, and many other Chinese cities are, they still don't have the same feel as American cities and skylines. I'm European so I've never a lot of skyscrapers as a child, so you could imagine my excitement when I first went to NYC.
A few seconds in and the video is giving me shivers... Hearing my mother language in a soundscape video feels unreal and beautiful ❤️

Actually most of Shanghai city center is a cute old town not so dense (French Concession), with many hidden corners and small shops.

Absolutely Spectacular! Best skyline in the entire world due to the modern and distinct shapes of the skyscrapers with the Pearl Oriental Tower being its centerpiece. I'd be more excited to see this than the Great Wall.

In the chinese agricultural zone which consists the maiority of the demography, reality is very different. China has more than 1.3 billion of people and still have a communist central government. Even the most poor countries of the world has their "turistic points".

This is nuts, I went there a few years ago and the skyline is completely different. This looks like 30 years of advancement except it was done in under a decade. My roommate is actually from shanghai and he pointed out all the new buildings to me. This is insane.
