Went to Hong Kong quite a few times when I was in the Military...before the turn over...I remember looking at the city at night from the ocean and it was just like looking at a sci fi city at night. When I read a cyberpunk story now, I have images of Hong Kong in my mind. Beautiful City.

I was there in the 80's and early 90's (Before the takeover) and people of Hong Kong enjoyed a fairly free and decent lifestyle...Obviously, just like any other huge city, you have districts that are bad and house the less fortunate and there was a struggle, just like it is anywhere else. I never lived there, so I can't say for sure, but most of the people I talked to there seemed to be doing ok. Since the takeover I read that things have plummeted quite a bit and they are no longer free like they were. Which sucks.
I love how drones can capture both wide-angle landscapes and close-up details. It creates a truly immersive viewing experience

As a British Cantonese, with long roots in HK. I find these videos very disgusting actually... and borderline atrocious as well. And that the so called "investments" has ended up with something of this level... and ruining the world as well. Really bad !!!!! I hope that one day, several of these buildings wouldbe blown up and taken down. Like a lot of it. Cos it does not belong there at all. Enough of this merry go round. People just shuffle their goods back and forth expecting money to bump up each time. Time that this is stopped. It doesn't work. And never worked ! The last trip I went to HK.. ended up with what.... I went to Wong Tai Sin... to wanted to pray. And it has commercialised SO much !!!! I went to a store and the lady said that it was actually a good time to pray because it was Buddha's Day. So yeh... after 13 years of not being there. I bought it. And then she even said that she could burn it for me. I didn't trust such services... and in the end, I gave it back to her to burn in my wishes. (In that moment... my heart sank a lot.. really heavily. Why? Cos I know that she would reuse those items again and actually not even burn the incense for me. I know that is what she would do ? Cos I could see that she scribbled the top notes only which means that it would leave the other stack left over.)

I've been to Hong Kong twice, when I landed in Hong Kong the second time much older I was still amazed as the little kid who was there the first time, It is truly a surreal experience coming from a small town in Norway. What a marvel of human engineering and infrastructure.

It was some insane engineering back then, I live in Mumbai so was used to seeing residential high-rises everywhere but honestly all the management of the city overall shook me to the very core

Go inside and you will see the miserable and pitiable condition of ppl living there. families live there in such a small and congested space which is even smaller than our bathrooms and very very expensive. HK is the least affordable housing city in the world. U can't imagine what it's like to live in HK. Everything looks good from a distance..

True, I can't imagine how hard life here must be, but I saw at least some films and pictures which showed overpopulation and poor people and even not poor people living in bad places. My comment was meant like appreciation from design student, because I'm amazed by these cyberpunk architecture but mostly, this video is so great, the shots, edit, music, coloring... I have goosebump everytime I watching it.

- the most expensive housing market in the world (average house price hits $1.2 million)
- the longest working hours in the world (2606hours per year in average)
- the highest IQ of people in the world (in average)
- the highest Gini index in the developed cities of world
- the 6th longest Life expectancy in the world...etc
definitely not a good place to survive if you're not smart and aggressive enough..
