I wake up at 3:50am everyday!!!! My tips are - go to bed at a time that allows you to have the ideal hours you need for sleep (I feel great on 6 hours s go to bed at 9-10pm) - have my alarm on the other side of the room - if possible, have some sort of device that turns on a light automatically at the time you need to wake up. - when you're first training yourself to wake up earlier, make sure you reward yourself in some way (if you're out of bed by the goal time). The first week of getting up early is hell, but after doing this since I started medical school, I've never been more productive, healthy or happy!
May I suggest you use a softer wake up ring tone? I had yours and changed mine to something softer and it is mind blowing how much it changes my brain in the morning. It feels like "yay morning" vs " ugh morning".
I already have to get up at 5:30 mon-fri. I wish I could do 5 so I could workout then start my day instead of end my day at the gym. Ready to hear your tips!!
Jenny Le when I used to workout in the morning, I had soooo much energy all day. Better than coffee. Gets sooo hard to do now-a-days, no idea how I did it. I’m actually at the gym now cause I skipped a few evenings lol. Love your vids!!!❤️
This was great!! Even after retirement, I still get up early to drink my coffee quietly and meditate for a good hour, do my work out without interruption and gear up for my busy retirement day!! Trust me, it gets busier the older we get!! Even with the kids gone! lol!!! Have a wonderful week! PS --- thanks to your last video, I've incorporated a daily 20 minute workout (rather than just 10 minutes on the elliptical) into my day! Thank you!!!
It's 4:55am here (aus) and I'm awake... Because my circadian rhythm is so sensitive :/. I really like the don't snooze tip! My gosh! Wyatt is so gorgeous, it's wonderful seeing his personality develop more.
I was staying up later studying but since we have been having class 8am-5pm every day I’m usually exhausted after. So I’ve been trying to wake up earlier the past week to study rather than trying to study after school when I’m already tired and I just get distracted. I’ll probably keep trying it and see how it goes. I’m in PA school now so literally studying all the time.
Hi Jenny, how are you doing on this nice day? Thank you for posting this great helpful video, much appreciated. I like your music a lot and your video skills are very good and impressive. It's always a treat and pleasure to watch your videos and follow your remarkable journey. I appreciate you. Have a good and peaceful week, fist bump : )
I'm not an early bird, I'm terrible for hitting the snooze button! But.. I need to start being more productive in the mornings, and I really liked your tips. I will give them a try! Also I'm planning to become a PA and I love your medicine videos :-)
I used to consider myself as a night owl, but ever since I entered med school, I feel like I've transformed from a night owl into a permanently exhausted pigeon. Love your tips! I heard about sleep hygiene from a Lecturio video in their Med School Survival Guide series (anybody else watched that one?), but I have yet to learn how to organize my time so that I can get enough sleep. I am definitely going to try designating a uniform sleeping time and waking time everyday and maybe attempt avoiding the snooze button. Do you have tips on how to study when you don't want to study? For me that is the constant struggle D-:
Hi dr.jenny i hope you're doing well...i just wanna say that being an earlier type of person give you the opportunity to get many tasks and things done by the day long and it's so important in the medical field ...by the way your little monster is growing so fast i remember when he was just a baby😂 ....have nice day doc
I like waking up early, but the hard part is when I don’t get enough sleep and end up a zombie. Do you usually get much sleep as an FM resident? I might be in the same spot in a few years :).
Hey jenny how do you feel about the crazy work schedule of doctors? Do you plan on working like 75 your weeks after residency? Also what made you choose MD over PA
Oh no!!! If Stan is doing well, I’d only want to work half time lol. And I made a video interviewing PA candidate and explaining why I choose DO. PA school vs Med schoolua-cam.com/video/VQxhwgQNVlE/v-deo.html
honestly, I have so many problems to GET TO SLEEP EARLY!!!! I literally feel so attach to been on my phone that in the morning I regret it!!!. waking up at 6 its one of my ultimate goals. let's see if I can use these tips to help me achieve this goal of mine.
I had contact prescriptions for both colored and clear contacts. When I went to get more, they told me only my color ones weren’t expired. Since that time, I’ve been so use to wearing colored contacts I never switch back. That was in college. Lol
i want to wake up at 5 am so i have that me-time before my 1.5 year old wakes up. i feel a lot more productive when i wake up before him lol. it’s easier to read a book or wash some dishes without little fingers tugging at your legs!

so you go to sleep during the day and wake up at night? I say aim for waking up at 2:00 am in the future
@@Candicedickinsonllc I dont understand? Where I live the sun rises around 4am and sets around 5pm.
Yes ma'am! Getting up at 5 am has definitely been life changing for myself. Discipline = Freedom 😀💪
Love that correlation

I think if I went to some classes it would keep me more accountable
When she said "six-pack you've been working for since the six grade", I laughed. This defines me!

The first year of didactics can feel like the worse. Hang in there.

Loved this! I've never really been a morning person, but after starting to wake up earlier I feel so terrible waking up late!
Everything seems hard in the beginning! Your body will get use to it

I probably average 6 hours a night. I would love to get 8

FOMO gets me bad sometimes ... and in the morning I regret it too
Your little guy is getting big!
I know right!! It’s insane
How old are you?
you wear coloured contacts! Is there a reason for that / are you eyes a different colour?
I had contact prescriptions for both colored and clear contacts. When I went to get more, they told me only my color ones weren’t expired. Since that time, I’ve been so use to wearing colored contacts I never switch back. That was in college. Lol
