    Song Lyrics:
    [Verse 1]
    Here we stand
Like an Adam and an Eve
    Waterfalls
    The Garden of Eden
    Two fools in love
    So beautiful and strong
    The birds in the trees
    Are smiling upon them
From the age of the dinosaurs
    Cars have run on gasoline
    Where, where have they gone?
    Now, it's nothing but flowers
    [Chorus 1]
    There was a factory
Now there are mountains and rivers
You got it, you got it
    We caught a rattlesnake
Now we got something for dinner
We got it, we got it
    There was a shopping mall
Now it's all covered with flowers
You've got it, you've got it
    If this is paradise
    I wish I had a lawnmower
You've got it, you've got it
    [Verse 2]
    Years ago
I was an angry young man
    And I'd pretend
    That I was a billboard
    Standing tall
By the side of the road
    I fell in love
    With a beautiful highway
This used to be real estate
Now it's only fields and trees
    Where, where is the town
    Now, it's nothing but flowers
    [Bridge 1]
    The highways and cars
    Were sacrificed for agriculture
I thought that we'd start over
But I guess I was wrong
    [Chorus]
    Once there were parking lots
    Now it's a peaceful oasis
You've got it, you've got it
    This was a Pizza Hut
Now it's all covered with daisies
You got it, you got it
    I miss the honky tonks,
    Dairy Queens, and 7-Elevens
You got it, you got it
    And as things fell apart
    Nobody paid much attention
You got it, you got it
    [Chorus]
    I dream of cherry pies,
Candy bars, and chocolate chip cookies
You got it, you got it
    We used to microwave
Now we just eat nuts and berries
You got it, you got it
    This was a discount store,
Now it's turned into a cornfield
You've got it, you've got it
    Don't leave me stranded here
I can't get used to this lifestyle

Yesterday, my father died. As a baby at 3 years old this was the first song I ever remember in my whole life. Dad would play "Naked" for us all the time but we babies danced the most to this. I called it the chocolate chip cookie song. All my life we would dance, he would point at me and say you got it, you got it in every day life.
my mother got us tickets to American Utopia, we were born a day apart so it was our bday gift. Last month we met David Byrne and I got to tell him how much we love him. Our last concert of many....how fitting.
Now my father is gone forever, peacefully but suddenly in his sleep. I had to write the inscription on his urn for my grieving mom. I wrote "nothing but flowers"
I love you dad. I will play this every huge moment of my life for you form now on.

@Gavril Matz in Johnny's book he describes his first session with the Talking Heads. This song in particular. He was nervous, even second guessing himself. In fact, he had to leave the studio and take a walk around the block to clear this head. This is what he came up with upon return. Brilliant.

I just concluded a Contemporary Arts class in Undergrad school. For my last discussion, I decided to connect the works of Bruce Conner to David Byrne. I tried to correlate the two. It was once said that Music Television (MTV) owed Conner 'lots of money' for their influence. Hmmm... i think the same damned thing about David Byrne, MTV owes him some good paycheks too. Man, what an ARTIST he is!

Reading Johnny Marr's autobiography and it led me to this song. I recall when it was a hit, I recall when The Smiths broke up that Johnny Marr was gigging with various bands, but I did not recall that he'd played with Talking Heads or that he was on this song. Makes sense now, with the highlife-y guitar.
