Song Lyrics:
[Verse 1]
I'm wearing-a fur pajamas
I ride a hot potato
It's tickling my fancy
Speak up, I can't hear you
[Chorus]
Here on this mountaintop, oh-oh-oh
I got some wild, wild life
I got some news to tell you, oh-oh
About some wild, wild life
Here come the doctor in charge, oh-oh-oh
She's got some wild, wild life
Ain't that the way you like it, oh-oh?
Living wild, wild life
[Verse 2]
I'll wrestle with your conscience
You wrestle with your partner
Sitting on a windowsill
But he spends his time behind closed doors
[Chorus]
So check out mister businessman, oh-oh-oh
He bought some wild, wild life
On the way to the stock exchange, oh-oh-oh
He got some wild, wild life
Pick it up when he opens the door, oh-oh-oh
He doing wild, wild life
I know it's the way you like it, oh-oh
Living wild, wild
[Verse 3]
Peace of mind
It's a piece of cake
Thought control
You get on board any time you like
Like sitting on pins and needles
Things fall apart
It's scientific
[Chorus]
Sleeping on the Interstate, oh-oh-oh
Getting wild, wild life
Checking in and checking out, oh-oh-oh
I got 'em, wild, wild life
Spending all of my money and time, oh-oh-oh
On too much wild, wild life
We wanna go and we go where we go, oh-oh-oh
Ah, doing wild, wild life
I know it, that's how we start, oh-oh-oh
Got some wild, wild life
Take a picture here in the daylight, oh-oh
And it's a wild, wild life
You've grown so tall, you've grown so fast, oh-oh-oh
Wild, wild
And I know that's the way you like it, oh-oh
Living wild, wild, wild, wild life

To all those that are saying this is a music video, it’s actually a clip from David Byrne’s criminally under-seen film True Stories. Watch it.
The fashion show still cracks me up.
@@jdmthree1The moment at the end… Perfection.
Watching it now!
HOLY SHIT!!! THANKS FOR ENLIGHTENING ME!!! ❤❤❤
This lineup is somewhat different than the lineup in the movie, more David Byrne characters in this video than in the movie.
I was 24 years old, young, wild and free. God, how I miss those days.
I was too. 1962. They were the best days, hands down. I miss them too, friend.
@@johns2688 Vintage year, 1962, what with the Cuban Missile Crisis, and all. But we survived to become young men in the greatest decade for music: _1980s forever, baby!_ 😉

I was 22 and in a car accident on Good Friday 28th of March. God I'm lucky to be alive.
Me too! 😢
This song made me happy as a young man and now it makes me happy as an old man. Thank you David Byrne for everything you've done.
ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY SIR!!!!!❤️❤️❤️

Great song and video. First song I ever called in to the radio station to get played on air.
And what a great movie!
Same here Jeff, God speed
Making something sound simple and commercial, but smart at the same time is not easy. This is the best example.

I never never never get tired of listening to this song. I miss the 80"s so much...🥲
There is no band like Talking Heads ,they were unbelievably catchy and memorable ,one of the greatest 80’s bands with fantastic unique videos
I wouldn't say only them, there was Devo as well with their uniqueness, but yeah, Talking Heads are objectively better.
I would love to see a tribute musical to the Talking Heads, think of what Mamma Mia did for ABBA.
@@thebigfletch1885 or the b -52's
I believe.
The 80's could never define them, galactic envoys from Earth, maybe...
One of those songs that evokes such happy memories of a care-free and fun time of my youth.
It’s about cocaine. Carefree youth? Not quite.
@@dentonconstructionservices8323 Putting aside the fact you appear to have misunderstood my comment, I associate cocaine use with my care-free and fun youth.
The black dude singing with the hat at the end is MY DAD!!!! I was supposed to be in this movie performing that part as a young karate kid character. When it came time to for me to film, I froze and got scared so they asked my dad (who had his own band at the time) to do it instead. Don't believe me? IDGAF!! That's my father and his name is Frank Beaty!!!!
I believe you...thanks for sharing the story...Your dad looks cool with his hat 🤠😎🤙
@@LuigyEstrella 😂😂 thank you!! It's was cool seeing him so young again.....
That's awesome, FM! You must've met David Byrne, what was he like?
@@chiefscheider I don't remember honestly.....I know we met him because it was originally supposed to be me who play that part but I was too scared to do it so my dad filled in and I can remember shaking his hand and that he was a nice guy but that's about it..... We met John Goodman and I can tell you that he was a jerk LMAO he wasn't friendly at all and told racist jokes pretty much the whole time we were there LMAO of course this was at the beginning of his career so I'm sure he's a much different, more grown up person now LOL I remember meeting him because we spent a lot more time with him then we did with David Byrnes. David Byrne if I recall correctly came in and shook everybody's hand and then left pretty much but we spent the entire day around John Goodman.
FM: Sucks about Goodman but still cool that you and your dad were on the set! He had some smooth moves, btw 👍🏻
Not sure if this was mentioned, but Talking Heads drummer Chris Frantz played the Ozzy Osbourne character, the Hank Williams-style country-and-western singer and the sports fan with WILD WILD LIFE on his baseball cap. Tina Weyworth (Talking Heads bassist) played a society lady (not sure which one), the lady who rips off her wig to reveal a bald head, and the woman dancing with the Prince cosplayer.
That's cool to KNOW!! I was not aware that Chris & Tina played all those characters! The costumes & characters come & go so fast, it's kinda hard to see it. Thanks for the info!! Peace!!
Thanks for what I've been wondering. The Eighties were so awesome -- totally. But went by too fast!
Can you believe Chris Franzt is from Ky?! He is. Every now and then we get things right.
And Jerry Harrison was the karate guy
Jerry Harrison was like 6 different people up there too

It's amazing how many ways we've been blessed by John Goodman over the years.
I thought that was him. And I knew a scroll through the comments would confirm it!
When I lived on a mountain top with wildlife adjacent to the Los Padres National Forest, this was my anthem. Fox, Mountain Lion, deer, humming birds, skunk, turkeys, squirrels, etc. Never a dull day on my deck.
One of the greatest songs and videos of the 80's.
Talking Heads were very special.
Hear Hear. Especially with all the cameos.
Head rush fun love
My daughter is 17 and her favorite band is Talking Heads. She loves David Byrne. So proud!
Oh this comment made me proud because I'm an 18-year-old Japanese student who considers TH the best
Aw that's so cool :) I discovered Talking Heads at 16/17, myself. Though that wasn't long ago, it still provided me with music to attach to certain memories in my last year of hs.
Dam right, the world is awesome for 2 minutes
that’s so cool I got into them the same age!
I'm 14 and my favourite is AC/DC, but the Talking Heads are cool too, hence my presence here
Last week, I'm driving my car going home, it's the end of a good day, this song came on the radio, I cranked it up, made me smile, made sure a window or two was down so that others can hear, while stopped at a red light, this is just a great song, takes me back....here's the Billy Idol, Prince parodies, etc., 80's references, still great, LOVE John Goodman's performance!
Stop making sense 😉
I love this song when I am driving. The superb guitar riff part is really wild, wild line.
Such an addictive song. Can play it over and over and never get tired of it. Just brilliant.
I find that not only is it addictive, but actually destructive in the end . . . "Things fall apart, it's scientific."
check out - Once in a lifetime
It is! For some reason, it’s stuck in my head for a few days now.
Fuuuuuuuuk
Nag i weir sub
Talking Heads shows how much fun you can have if you dare to be weird, and to do it well .
I still think of David Byrne as a sort of college professor type who one day bumped his head and then totally lost his shit.
But...what IF....they dared to be stupid, like Weird Al? :) Love them. Just having fun. Cheers. :)
Pretty awesome still
But that’s just it: David Byrne is not “weird” or trying to be . . . you are witnessing unrestricted genius. There are those who try to harness WEIRD for affect. Salvador Dali, Byrne, Nina Hagen, Timothy Leary, etc. were just doing their thing: they never for one minute thought of themselves as weird.
@@zaidaali4688 -- I don't think we disagree. When I said, "dare to be weird", I could have been saying, "dare to be themselves." Of course, lots of artists today and in history have had annoying affectations (Lord Byron took a goose with him everywhere), but please don't think I was saying Byrne et. al . are not being authentic; quite the opposite.

This is my favorite part, especially when it was in “Open Season”! Great song!
I know it can be hard listening to this. It’s just sad it makes you think of good times like when the movie came out.

David Byrne is still amazing.but there was nothing better when the talking heads were still together..i never get tired of listening to them.
It seems like Dave wants nothing to do with the others. He distanced himself during their induction into the R&R Hal of Fame...too bad.

Thank You Open Season.😎🐻
I think David Byrne predicted social media and influencers. Plenty of UA-cam channels showing "Wild Wild Life" while the audience sits and watches. Even some of the TV shows in the background....a bunch of tvs showing cars wrecking, and nonsense...just like real life today. Obviously that's my interpretation, but interesting nonetheless. Brilliant music!

This video is flippin' BRILLIANT !!! Have watched at least 1,000 times.....love all the characters.
I agree, & I'm sure I've watched it probably more than 1,000x's. It's a Gr8 SONG & definitely MY favorite video put out by them. I still listen to The Talking Heads fairly often - esp in the car. Adoro essa música . Só podia ser mesmo David Byrne um gênio pop
As an emerging adult in the 1980's I took for granted the music of that time, as if , yeah its good.. But now as a 50 something guy ,looking/listening back, I give thanks that I experienced first hand the GREATEST age in Rock/Pop/Alternate music times. And TALKING HEADS was at THE forefront of it all..! David Byrne broke the mold with lyrics you could hear and appreciate, together with a combination of traditional and new rhythms. Damn..! I wish like F#$K I'd kept my COMPLETE vinyl collection of Talking Heads Albums..!! Damn you modernity...! 🤣
Talking Heads were truly one of the most original and creative bands rock has produced, both sonically and visually. It's a way overused word, but I do think they were brilliant.
I love you John Goodman!
Love the John Goodman cameo!
It was not just a cameo, he had a significant role in the film.
He was in the movie. This isn't just a music video.
John Goodman Is an extraordinary actor
He co stars in the film
It’s not a cameo, he was the star of the movie
So many songs and their videoswe have listened to for decades, are full of revelations about our reality. I sang along to the songs but not only didn't understand the lyrics, but also had no idea that I had no understanding of them. I had no insight to what the lyrics were trying to reveal, but I was unaware of my "unawareness". I had sight, but I was blind. Omg. Life is truly awe inspiring beyond words.
Timeless!!
