This may work but it’s a bit ghetto imo. I’ve had this bed extender for about 7 years and you might need to take it off in a pinch. It takes up room sometimes when you need room. You’re going to have to remove your lights anytime you want to do that. What I’d suggest is popping a rivnut in that hole. That’s what I’m going to do on my 2024. Then you never have to take those lights out ever, even initial install. My $0.02.
Tell ya what brother, your video just saved my ass because I’d of sent this bed extender back had it not been for your instructions. My 2022 F150 Tremor does not have threaded holes either and I was a little pissed when I went to install. Thanks for sharing
You just saved me $1200 Canadian for a new bed extender. Also ML3Z-99286A40-B is the proper one for 22-23 F150s. I spent $75 on my extender back in 2018 for a used one and its going to stay with me now.
Same with me, 2022 Platinum. I was told that because it was equipped with the 7.5 kV power system they didn't offer it as an option. Regardless, I followed your instructions and it works perfectly, thank you.
This was super helpful! The latest version of the kit now comes with the nuts and everything but you still need to take the taillights out. The directions are horrible.
That's crazy that the holes were not threaded. I plan on getting the same bed extender when my 2022 XLT truck finally gets here the end of June. Hope mine is threaded. I have the same bed extender ono my 2011 XLT, but the dealership installed mine when I bought the truck back then.
@@fordtrucks3960 Don't understand your comment? I installed my new tailgate extender on my 2022 F-150 by taking out the headlights to put nuts and a washer on the back of the threaded bolts that I had to purchase from Ace Hardware as it only came with the threaded bolts. My 2011 Ford F-150 were threaded holes and you didn't have to take the taillights out to install.
@@terrygermano4555 thanks for the video man...FYI it was a cost savings reduction at some point in 2022MY run. My 2022 lariat doesn't have the nut installed. You gotta think...the cost of the actual fastener (nut) itself, process time/money to install it, extra time/money spent to quality check the fastener and so on multiplied by 500,000+ (x2 one for each side) trucks each year is quite a substantial cost for something that is there as an attachment point for an optional accessory. (You can even double that cost savings if you extrapolate the data over to Super Duty as well) I was going to go to my dealer and see if they'd throw some rivnuts in but this seems reasonable enough and easily done in the driveway! I kept the divider from my 2016 before I traded it in and was looking forward to putting it on my 2022. Used the hell out of it.

Worked on my 2024! Thanks for the video.
Tks , now i know what to do on my 2023, it was on my 2019 before

I'm glad the video helped you out Brother!!!
Thank you! My Ford F150 tremor 2023 model is also missing the threads, I will follow your procedure for the installation!

Thanks for the video Terry. I just installed this unit in my Powerboost. Mine did come with the female threads.

Never thought of that. Mine has the 2kw generator. Maybe that's why!
Tail lights 🤔
@@Q80hobiecat63 good observations! I said headlights by mistake.

Oh now Ford is giving the bolts with the kit? I agree the Directions are Horrible!!!
Thank you extremely helpful
Thanks man. Same issue. I was pissed till I realized I got some LED tail light bulbs to install too.

Tell me about it! It makes no sense at all to me! I had to make it work my own way.
Hey dude those are taillight!

How do we get the Factory nut?
not head lights...taillights
I think it's pretty obvious I made a mistake guy!
_You knew what he meant to say stop being like that._
I ordered a long bed instead
