I've been there. My first deer was a small button buck that I got a bad shot on. It nearly removed his front leg. He limped off into the brush, and I had to move in to dispatch him as he tried to crawl away. Take for instance soldiers in combat. Most people don't even realize it when they get shot, at least at first. You'd feel a poke or a push, but not really pain yet, till the adrenaline goes away.

By eight weeks my kits are almost as big as their parents. They do not live in happy little family groups.. two does or two bucks will fight and sometimes the doe even attacks the buck. Life isn’t a Disney movie

I find shockingly most people who mention this DO, but since they are hands off in the butchering process they think what they eat didn’t suffer.. fact is I grow my own meat because I DONT want to contribute to the harsh reality of slaughter houses and the pitiful lives those animals lead up until they are butchered. At least I know my animals have their best life until they are processed and when I do process them I make it as fast and painless as possible. They have no idea what is happening and they are dead instantly. Nothing is wasted, not one bit.. it either feeds my family, pets or garden and the fur is tanned and also used.. if you are vegan/vegetarian you should look into the number of birds and animals are killed while plowing, fertilizing, or harvesting.
