the ps5 slim is ugly and a ripoff because this company is trying to get people to buy digital games by making it more difficult to play the physical copies of games
As I understands, it only requires internet to autenticate the disc drive, and just one time (of course, this does not mean that it won't be problematic if formatte the console once there is no more support for the console)
That's still stupid I bought the damn disc drive I shouldn't need an online check from Sony to tell if its a disc drive or not so technically its kind of a DRM.
Aw geez, remember that ad Sony did taking a shot at the Xbox One with used games? I do. "bUt It'S nOt A bIg DeAl!" Unless everyone speaks up, the powers that be will have even more control over our lives than before
Its already dumb enough that the entire game gets copied from disc and downloaded on the system like I don't intentionally buy phisical to save space....
This is the reason why I stick to retro, Switch, and PC gaming these days. Sure, the DRM on the PC is certainly an issue, but there's no reason for me to spend $500 on a console when I can just slap in an extra $200 on a graphics card for a PC I'm going to be building anyways. Especially when the DRM on some of the consoles is worse than on the PC in some situations.
@@JRPGgames945 Absolutely! I remember back in the 5th and 6th generation when Sony was all about giving the customer the best experience they could, and that a lot of their console revisions actually addressed issues with the original consoles. While they bit off more than they could chew with the PS3, it still was an incredibly robust console experience despite all it's flaws. But now it's all about DRM, Micro transactions, and low effort. Eventually people are going to start jumping ship in mass.
OK I want to address the part where I said you need to be online to play your games I was speaking about a possible scenario where they might try that a hypothetical just wanna clear that misunderstanding up.
All your information is incorrect and completely false. It only requires the online connection once. And it’s because all disk drives even Blu-ray player require to comply with drm check. And since the drive on ps5 is now removable it has to be married to said system. It has nothing to do with checking games. Drm is media standard controlled by regulators. If the drive was permanently installed you wouldn’t have to have the online verification. It’s so the drive can’t be moved from one system to another. Nice clickbait.
think about future game preservation. If you buy the PS5 slim, in the future the servers will be gone. If you have to reset your PS5 slim or fix it, you can't activate the disc drive anymore. it will be a doorstop brick. they want everyone to go digital and to have full control of your hardware. just like our communist government taking control of everything with communism and digital currency. its called enslavement. Sony will make you have to buy a monthly subscription to play old games that you already have on disc but can't play b/c the servers are gone. its always about money & power and control.

if this is true then this dude needs to do his research before spewing half news

@@JRPGgames945if it's a one time thing it's probably to set it up

Well theres this thing call pirates discs. If they didt authenticate, someone can make a disc drive that can play anything under the sun.
Its already dumb enough that the entire game gets copied from disc and downloaded on the system like I don't intentionally buy phisical to save space....
I hope they remove this requirement in the future

Ouch, this reminds me of how Xbox Series X required online DRM back then.
You mean Xbox One
WTF Sony?

This isn't true. Where is the proof? Exactly
