The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

My brother had a fantastic voice and a great man
Did he ever record any albums or do you have an samples of songs he performed? It's a loss that we don't have much of his excellent singing.
Great the greatest I have ever heard
Wow! What a beautiful voice. Up until now, I had only listened to Sammy Davis Jr covering this song. Gilbert Price is being added to that list of artists.
Listen to Steve Lawrence version.
@@shaunwakefield9793Price is excellent. Lawrence is show biz smarm.
I might add in this case Lawrence is smarmy. But not always.
MAGNIFICENT, STUPENDOUS, UNPARALLELED! Let's dig into the unabridged dictionary for a few more superlatives to describe this young man. I've never heard a singer with that caliber of voice that pours so much feeling into a song. Like a waterfall that never stops flowing. What a gift from god and what a lesson in humility. A performer like Gilbert Price is a beautiful lesson in what is possible from an entertainer. And from mankind.
The greatest I ever have heard ❤️
Wow! He sung that song! Beautiful!
She sang....

Thank you SO much for this. GILBERT PRICE: W -O W. ♥️ 💜 👊🏽 🙏🏼 🌲 🦅 🏅
Not just the voice of his generation… But the voice for all generations!
viz., “ The Roar of the Greasepaint…” etc., etc..-
Multiple Tony nominee & winner… Oh, Gilbert Price … You true Wonder …. Gone so tragically soon …. THANK YOU for your life! ❤❤❤❤❤
Wow!! How can I fight for somebody else if I can’t fight for me! His voice is sooo beautiful!
Her voice.....
@Roger. - What is your problem, please, sir? Wrong
@@virghammer1he’s a 🤡

Wonderful song
Beautiful tone
Wonderful voice.
Gone Too Soon! Thank you,Gilbert!
He is one of my favorites. Gone too soon
You sure say truth, “Lowstone.” . Such a horrible tragedy. But what a singer for the ages !!!! ❤❤❤❤
Dang. What an incredible voice!!
I love this song.
My gosh. Honestly, he might have had the best voice even beating out many well known singers. So very sad he passed at an early age.
WOW!!! 😳
Thank you for sharing! 💖
WHATADREAM!!!!
Wish there were more examples of his singing.
There are a few more on UA-cam. Thank goodness. Also: his masterful “Ol’ Man River “ which REALLY Will send chills down your spine and set you to cheering !! 👏🏼 🏆 ⭐️ ❤❤❤❤. Check them out, Ben and all here! He’s on UA-cam singing “They Call the Wind Mariah - that wonderful 1960s ballad - oops - + 1950s also. He’s also singing Ave Maria on UA-cam… RIP. The voice of a century, really… But. Thank goodness we do have a FEW more examples.
@@virghammer1I can’t find his ave maria video 😢 where is it?
Gilbert seemed petrifiredto be on that stage. However, he sang thesong beautifully. This version is much less schmaltzy than the Steve and Sammy versions.
Ben, there are ...The cll the wind Mariah, ol man river and more. just enter Gilbert Price
This song was written by Jan Spiller.
Thanks for reminding everyone, Rick! Y A Y. Gorgeous Broadway song. 👏🏼 ✌🏽 👊🏽 🏆 ⭐️
😲
We’ve gone from this to Jay-Z
😢
to be
It seems off. The phrasing is most peculiar...
nice voice but stiff as a board...
He is remaining STILL for a reason, sir. I could not disagree with you more. He is letting the SONG communicate what it needs to communicate. Please.
-- Please. This is not a groovin’, “slimy,”. Lmao - lol 😂 - shuckin’ & jjivin’ song. That’s all. -- With all due respect… And be well, VCH. PS. Have you yourself ever performed?
Something tells me you haven’t. But. Hey. No hard feelings. - Be well, V. ✌🏽
@@virghammer1 jeez.... were you sleeping with him?
He doesn’t need to prance around like the untalented superstars in 2023. His voice is the show piece
Nerves Maybe! It was the 60's! He was very young performing in front of an all white audience that most were not allowed to. Do you understand what i'm trying to say without saying it?
@@wm5537 I remember, as a kid, seeing this performance by Gilbert Price and never forgetting his name because of it. Those who say he was stiff or nervous are wrong. His looks and presentation are winning. The cheers of the audience say it all.
