Linus used to yell at the script writer... now he yells at his own chyrons!
@JAX GRILLS COOLER MASTER WEBSITE IN THE VIDEO THEN SPONSORED BY THEM IN THE END LOL
what the hell is a chyrons
Im requesting "Butt-tons" to be an official measurement.
Butt-tonne*
I'm stuck in the past and prefer the imperial butt-ton
what about a linus body width or wingspan/arm length?
charles lee hahaha haven't heard him say that in a while...
Metric Butt-Ton*
Good job, as usual very helpful
Quick, simple, and accurate. You get to the point and explain things flawlessly. Man, I love your videos keep up the great work
at first I thought the "Desktop case" was a VHS player lol
you mean a VCR.
wclifton968 - gameplays & tutorials precisely! Probably because of DVD player, BD player, etc. Dammit modern terms!
wclifton968 and i thought a gtx 1080ti was a car stereo
@@DiddlyOctopus lol
Uh Linus I still don't understand the cube cases...are they really cube-shaped?
They're cuboid rather than actual cubes. Of course cuboid also describes nearly every other PC case too. The difference seems to be that cube cases are closer to cubes than tower or desktop cases.
No there triangles
Matthew Mills illuminaty confirmed
***** Yuu ment "I new et?" Wake up sheeples
+Kairui Huang Probably. Maybe. I don't know.
Who noticed all the images were cases made by cooler master?
+Josef T-D Everyone.
I just so happen to use a cooler master case on my build and it's very well made. It fits everything inside it nicely (even though it's just a mini tower) and looks good while it does it. Also, nice sponsor integration Linus!
Thanks man an great breakdown of the computer sizes!
"Look! They're shaped like cubes!"
Nintendo, after seeing the mysteriously low GameCube sales: "Perhaps they thought it looked a little bit like a lunchbox."
Great review cleared up all the confusion on the web i love the way you present all your videos they are a breath of fresh air cheers mate have a great day
i actually have that mid tower from cooler master that you used as an example it looks like a beast and is always cool i love it
2:12 finger cracked, no clue why i focus on these things
You should do an episode on fan bearings: like sleeve, ball/double ball, fluid dynamic, and magnetic. And how orientations for some can be detrimental to the lifespan.
Speaking of towers, love your sponsor! I've had a Cooler Master CM Storm Scout for years and love it. ^_^ Next time I upgrade I'll get one of their full towers for the extra room.
I've got a CoolerMaster StormTrooper which is a full tower case. And I love it. Gives me lots if room for cable management and to fit my massive Noctua NH-D14 heatsink.
One thing I have noticed is cases have gotten wider to hide wires under the motherboard and fit giant cooling towers and they've gotten longer for front fans and I think also due to the bottom mounted power supplies & HDD bays. It used to be if you had a giant graphics card, it could run almost the full length of the case, but now the graphics cards are more toward the middle of the case and can run into the 5 1/4 bays.
Having said that, the options are much greater now and some of the SFF cases + that ridiculously small ITX form factor allow you to make a hella small powerhouse of a PC.
My favorite is Micro ATX Mini Tower. They're generally not much bigger than an mATX board, not much wasted space, no extra expansion slot covers.
OMG I can't stop watching these, so good!
I love my HAF912... Good job as always guys!
Do a fast as possible on the different graphical outputs, so VGA, HDMI, the various types of DVI, and the fourth that isn't an ancroynm. Just talk about the pros and cons of each and how they all differ from one another.
You mean a display port?
Display port is the best. There you go :P
If you're running a 1080p monitor then HDMI, DVI, and Displayport will have the exact same performance as they're all digital. VGA is analogue and will always be inferior.
However, as you're pushing resolutions above 1440p HDMI and single-link DVI simply won't work(you might get corrupted colours because the cable can't keep up with all the graphical data).
Almost every monitor comes with a DVI cable, so you should use that unless you have a really good reason not to.
Frikgeek display port digital is better than HDMI digital ;P
bassl0va It has a higher bandwidth, but as long as you don't need it, the quality is the same. It's a digital signal, there's no visual interference. It either works or it doesn't.
At least this time the commercial is "Cooler Master" :D
I swear when I had my binge watch of this series yesterday you had 2 thousand less subscribers... Now It's risen.. These vids are quite awesome.
i went with the hafx, good cable management, higher than my knee plenty of depth, side drive mounts with slot in trays for easy installation among other really good design features
Watched a Linus video with a Linus add. Linusseption
the new mac pros are in the garbage can category then?
+Discord LOL XD
Nah, dumpster.
alem bicic NEW macs are garbage
No they are cylindrical
Tissue box
Love these, do more!
Great video linus as always
So, consoles are desktops then XD
Technically, yes, but not pcs
YukiGibson Even more technically, they (PS4 and Xbone) are modified x86-64 based PCs with a custom heavily debuffed AMD APU, custom "BIOS", and a secondary ARM CPU.
NO, THEY ARE NOT
+Chris K (Rational Being) Modern consoles are just weak gaming PCs with a crippled operating system.
+c477um11 actually I think the OS is just more focused on gaming
if you were planning on using it for microsoft word then yeah you're pretty crippled
Okay... so... what would one metric butt ton be in Imperial?
420 stone
+rabasiticamphibian haha
one imperial butt-ton. LEL
i'll show myself the door.
I've had cooler master cases for a while now; going on several years since thermaltake let me down. On an elite 110 now and love it.
I have a Cooler Master Scout II - great case!
(..especially for me, because i move it back and forth between my bedroom and living room from day to day.
The integrated carry handle makes it really easy and a lot less risky.)
Linus, please don't say: Y'all
your hand enters in cube case at 3:57. :D
Thank you friend, for all the of these helpful videos
Awesome video this really helped with me doing my 1st build!
What about rubbish bins? Do they have their own category?
Yes, it's called all macs (except the old macs that pioneered computing but obviously those have garbage specs today also)
Linus you forgot the most important case type! Rack mount!
Even though i know most of the stuff at techquickie i enjoy watching the episodes. And they somtimes work as wikipedia-smartarse clervertalk guides. Keep up the good work!
will a Corsair Carbide 200R fit a MSI 990FXA-GD65 and a msi gtx 760 with a Corsair PSU CS650M
yes
Yep!
yes it will
no
I yes it will.
is that a FaZe shirt??? hahahaa
Somebody asked the same question on a previous video someone answered what it actually was but sadly i can not remember now.
ye x
No, the brand is Five Four Club. bit.ly/linusffc
ohh, good :P
Franjo Lacković Thats it.
Great Explanation! Thanks!
So far I've always bought and been very happy with CM cases.
3:47 1 GPU or less ? so I can install a 1/2 GPU for 1/2 Graphical performance ?
Yes you can have multiple GPU's, but it depends on the motherboard number of slots.
oh my fucking god he sounds so young compared to his videos now.
yhh ..🥺😂💖
Please prepare a video about the other sizes of PC Cases as Fast As Possible
and think you for the continuation of your reviews and fast as possible and everything else you do I really enjoy it and love it and I wish you the best of luck
this information is very useful to me well the mini vs mid tower case part anyways. much better than the other google search results I got that told me nothing. thanks.
If you're used to regular desktop computers and are creating your first computer like me, mid-towers are insanely huge. I can only imagine how large full towers are.
***** Haha must be the size of a small bookshelf
+SkitZ PiK and here I was considering getting a full size tower for cable management and fan space. Guess I will find a decent sized mid tower.
Jonathan Green Yeah, mid towers can support two way SLI/Crossfire with large video cards and even more with smaller form factor cards, especially with next gen constrictions and confusion we may see more than two way sli go out of style, or SLI in general.
Either way I think SLI is just a dumb waste of money.
If your PC fits on your desk without unbalancing it, it's too small.
I call my PC a ground-top. Desktops are for casuals.
+manictiger or you could, I don't know, have a sturdy desk?
holy hell high pitched voice. i thought my speed was on 1.5 or somthing lol buttt it wasnt
SaberXIX overreact much?
I really enjoy my coolermaster storm stryker. If anyone wants a big case, the CM storm stryker is the way to go. and it has a ton of airflow as well.
That's such a coincidence. I'm going case shopping, tomorrow!
I have no idea what I'll get but I'll know when I see it. :)
Very helpful, thanks Linus!
Does Stimulation Increase Breat Size - How to increase breast size
KrekerisT it’s been 5 years and i also need an answer to your question please update me
Fun fact: if you say “fun fact” people will read the rest of the comment
You earned a like buddy..
This comment itself is a fun fact
great video. excellent explanation.
Thank you Master Linus!, useful as always.
It's weird seeing you so mad when making these videos is how you make money. Isn't this your job?. Shouldn't people requesting these videos make you happy, because there's a demand for your service? Maybe it's just me, but I'm always confused when youtubers are annoyed and pissed off that they have to make another video.
I'm not mad.
Techquickie u tell him Linus
This series is called, "As Fast As Possible". He's not mad, he is providing great information in a limited amount of time.
+Techquickie Would having an Ultra Tower provide the best airflow? Or would it leave more room for heat to get trapped? Going for a Skylake 6700k build, wanted the biggest and baddest!
yeah he is not mad he's just explaining it the best way he possibly can.
yeaaaaah.... case manufacturer sponsoring for a info video about cases is a bit too biased. not ALL good cases came from cooler master though.
I'd be interested to hear how any of this information was biased.
+Techquickie Even though I don't agree with Azizi's comment, you could argue that the video is "biased" because the video is sponsered by Cooler Master and all example cases are Cooler Master cases. :) A neutral perspective would be showing multiple examples and edge-cases for every case-size. I totally get why only CM cases are shown though; gotta get food on the table, right? :P
+Toby Hinloopen Yeah but honestly who cares. I got the point perfectly. It's like a video explaining the difference between 2 door coupes, 4 door sedans and SUVs using only BMWs. You'll understand anyhow, who cares if the SUV is not from Audi or GM?
+Toby Hinloopen linus has a wife, a child, a business with multiple employees, has some servers and the crew's computers probably draw around 700 to 1000 watts. better run after those sponsors like there's no tomorrow!
+sanpt7777, very true. Anyway I like cooler master cases, i have a Haf 912plus, a mate of mine have the Haf X, and another mate have a K280, great cases, good build.
I would have loved a HAF X myself,. but spending £140 on a case was a bit too much. the 912 was a bit cheaper and now at 5 years old, still do a good job.
I like how you kept the sponsor plug relevant this time. I know its hard to do but it means that I actually watch the entire video instead of just clicking away once its over.
The last one was about shaving. I am adult male & shave. Seems relevant.
I know it's a year past (I've been busy), but really, this was great. Kudos Linus.
6 years later
When he says '' anyway'' i know i have to stop the video....
Can't handle his voice....
Yeah "is voice" his terrible.
Great video as always Linus and funny. I learned something more and got a couple laughs in as well lol :)
0:17 - Cooler Master Stacker STC-T01. Man, that's the best case I've ever owned.
I really appreciate this video thank you.
Thank you for that. Was very informative. Looking at building my own PC
thanks for great information sir.
For my first build which i finished yesterday. Im only running a mini-atx motherboard and a 770 graphics card yet I ordered a phantom for expandability in the future, plenty of space since its my first build, and so I can have decent cable management. Also I love the design
Thanks! I use some of your videos for my computer maintenance class. The kids like it too!
this video deserves a remake
Love this video, thank you so much for the info!!!!!
very useful! thanks linus!!
lmao at the cube case joke. Liking these videos a lot!
dude i looked uo how to see what case u have and the case in the thumb nail is the exact case omfg
could you please do a video about power phase & (digi-)VRM please?
OR
a video about the measurement variables like Watt (TDP AND usage), Volt, Ohms etc etc. thanks :)
I'm loving the honeycomb pattern in the Cooler Master cases.
In my opinion, the following criteria are the ones that matter when classifying a case:
1. Compatible motherboard size(s): this is the most important one, since this is the one that consumers are the most concerned about (will my E-ATX motherboard fit in this case?).
2. Motherboard orientation: will the motherboard be lying horizontally, or will it be standing vertically? This is the most important factor when it comes to a case's general aspect (towers versus cubes/htpcs).
(3. One can also argue that some htpc cases and other small form factor cases use an external power supply and this can be a pretty big deal breaker for some people.)
While everything else is mostly a feature, these can be very important for consumers. For example,
- Does the case have separate compartments for the motherboard and power supply (plus other stuff)? Are these compartments side-by-side or one one top of the other?
- What fan or radiator size and number can fit on each panel (top, front, left and right sides, back and bottom)?
- What GPU size can it fit (and without getting in the way of cable management)?
- What radiator-plus-fan (air cooling solution) size can fit on the CPU (and without forcing you to remove a side or top fan or generally blocking air flow in the case)?
- And many other questions...
The general lack of standards when it comes to cases can be attributed, I think, to a (partial) lack of transparency. If you browse through a few case manufacturer websites, you'll notice that some information is often omitted (like the internal dimensions of a case, which is important in order to figure out what cooling solution can fit in it) in favor of more flashy features like "RGB!!!". While I like the customization that those features can bring, in my experience, manufacturers often use them to mask flaws or a general lack of build quality.
P.S. English is not my first language, so forgive me if something is not appropriately worded.
I have a full size case with a liquid cooled CPU, single GTX970. huge reason I picked it was because after I decided on all my parts I really just wanted the space to be able to add on in the future, and I also really wanted cooling potential. I have 8 fans 4x20cm 2x12cm and 2x12cm radiated push-pull, and a large amount of space for cable management which is more important than people give it credit for. at load most components don't reach above 60°C in the summer. it's something to think about.
Big hands, going with full, thx dude
this channel is so great and helpful if i can subscribe twice i would've already
My first build was in a mid tower case. After a few weeks I bought the GTX 770 GPU, needless to say I regret getting a midtower because for beastly gpus I had limited space, so I bought a full tower. Thor v2, I used for a few months now I changed the case for the corsair carbide air 540.
Thanks for making this. I learned a lot....quickly, lol.
Got a mid-tower here. My favourite - good compromise between space to fit stuff inside and not being too big.
love this dude
The CM HAF XB is glorious. Portable but still enough place to put enough hardware in and it has great airflow.
Full towers are great and they usually have 200mm size fans or larger so more airflow with less noise than smaller fans.
I run a thermaltake Cube x9. 55 pounds of cold hard steel. Was a great buy. Never have to worry about space anymore... just gotta work on cable management
this would explain why i drifted towards the cooler master haf 932 advance; damn thing was difficult to work in with my big hand, can't imagine working in anything smaller!
I love my HAF X full tower. So cool, and I didn't even have to do much.
I've been using a cooler master cosmos for years now with zero complaints.
0:17... NICE ! A CoolerMaster Stacker. I still have my Stacker from 3 builds ago...
I recently built my i9-9900k with a Z-390 E-Gaming Mobo, Water cooled, and 5 fans. I put it all in a cube case. Best decision ever! So much room! Lots of airflow, and I can always use this as a future case too! I went with the Corsair Carbide Air 540 High Airflow case in case anyone is interested in going that route.
I'm learning so much about computers because of Linus....thank you. 🙏
Heres a fun fact; The XL-ATX/ATX/m-ATX case "CM Storm Trooper" can also hold an E-ATX mobo. I didnt discover this until after my build lol. Covered 1/3 of the cable management holes in the "Middle" though. Just found myself lucky hehe
Linus, any chance you could do a small review about the Cooler Master Geminii S524 version 2 (or the whole Geminii series) CPU cooler? There aren't many reviews about it, most of them are way too simple, and there is no video showing the S524 v2 performing. Thanks for the awesomeness!
Any videos explaining those motherboard sizes in those ATX measurements?
Does the CoolerMaster V8 GTS fit in a mid tower ? Or I'll have to buy a big tower (which is approximatly 100€ more expansive :( ) ?
Sorry for my english, I'm french ^^"
The example for the cube case is the exact case that I bought! What a coincidence!
Cooler Master is the King!
I love my full tower case since I sit the case on the floor. I don't need to worry about reaching down low to reach the buttons, optical drives, and external ports and jacks.
linus is so adorable when he's angry; like a tiny dog, barking at humans that are 6 feet taller than him
