Good information! I recently acquired a 87 Kawasaki 650sx for free! All I did was register it and clean the fuel tank and install a new battery and plugs. She rips! Next up is an artic cat tiger shark 640 barracuda. They paid us 100$ to take it. All complete but missing a carburetor. We oiled the cylinders sprayed some carb cleaner and it fired off. Now it’s registered and I have a carburetor on the way for it. Should be a fun little ski! Tomorrow I’m picking up a 900zxi needs some work apparently looses spark intermittently.
Trailer price depends a lot on the location. In Washington state you can sell a good single, painted trailer for $800 to $1,200. With actitle, good tires and lights. Galvanized ones sell for more. Double trailers sell $1,200 to $1,800 here.
Wow! How much does running skis in the early 2000’s year models on a trailer sell for up there?

@@oldpathsoutdoors8223I’m in WA state and I got a 99 Polaris SLTH 700 with a nice karavan trailer for $1200 total. However the guy lied about it just needing a battery and I found one of the pistons was cracked.
I’ve seen the ski, I see the ceiling in your shed. I’m waiting on the story. 😮 😂
I’ve been playing this UA-cam game for a year. You did good with this video. The title and thumbnail really make you curious, then you hook us with the burnt up ski story which locks you in.
I’ll try to upload the burnt ski tonight
The burnt ski video is up
@@oldpathsoutdoors8223 thanks for letting me know!! You got a good memory.
Im about to upload another video of my latest Genesis.
I just sold the ski that I cranked in this video for $2500.
Just picked one up for $500 on a trailer last weekend and already have it running.
Great pre-purchase inspection advice! Love the old Polaris skis. Lakeside Tech is 'the' place to send your EMMs to for servicing! Cheers!
Any chance you could pick up a broken 1999 Yamaha gp1200 non power valve and get going on the channel? Great video
I try to stick to the Polaris for now. Unless one fell in my lap I wouldn’t be interested in one.
Have you tried to find videos on that kind of ski yet?
There is a lot of information on greenhulk.net as well
@@oldpathsoutdoors8223 fingers crossed one lands in your lap, I have three of these motors, two in an exciter 270 hp jet boat and a 1999 gp1200 jet ski, so it’s a selfish request, there was another guy shady tree jet ski on UA-cam but he stopped making videos, he shared a lot of great troubleshooting tips
Have a polaris genesis for $600. No trailer. Claims no spark and may need a cdi. Obviously if the compression is good (150 psi?) Do you think this is worth the money?
$600 is worth the price. Even if it did turn out to be a dud, it can be parted out and you can make a $k on it. However if you plan to flip it and make a profit that would be a marginal price not having a trailer.
Great content! Keep it up!! For the Sea Foam, are you using Sea Foam Marine and Gas or Oil?
I used regular sea foam, i took the fuel line loose and put non diluted sea foam in the line so that it would concentrate in the carburetor. The oiler was still hooked up so it was already getting oil. Then i put the rest of the can in the fuel tank after syphoning the tank and filling it with fresh non ethanol. I could tell within 30 seconds of it running after the cloud of white smoke cleared that it had successfully cleaned the carburetor and it started running better. It even run better after the next tank of fuel was put in it.
@@oldpathsoutdoors8223 Appreciate your quick response! Ill try this and see how it is.
Do you fix Polaris jet skis for others? I’m in Chilton County Alabama. I have a Polaris virage the smaller engine. I don’t have any issues but looking for another one. I don’t have anyone to work on it if it breaks.
Jason, I don’t typically repair other people’s skis. I don’t like being under the pressure of working on someone else’s ski. If I buy one and take my time working on it it’s relaxing therapeutic (most of the time) and enjoyable. I’ve never felt that working on someone else’s ski.
@@oldpathsoutdoors8223 totally understand that! My son is 12 and we tinker with stuff. We have really started to like to mess with skis so I get that to. Thanks for the videos!
Yes might find a good one but most have been abused. Bad mechanic, poor maintenance, expensive hard to get parts and they are very difficult to work on little access
If you have a lot of time I guess that will work but be prepared for many problems.
Excellent advice,thank you very much
Are you still messing with jet skis? I am in Lee County al and have been doing the same thing.
I am. I just picked up another Genesis yesterday and am about to sell the two in this video before I start working on this one. I’m in Wedowee AL
Is the EMM on this similar to the FICHT one on the Kawasaki STX DI Water cooled , where did you get it repaired ?
I believe it is the same Ficht EMM in the Kawasaki as well as some 2stroke outboard boat engines.
Darrin Weiss at Lakeside Tech is who repairs these computers (EMM)

Thanks, great information.

Polaris garbage!!! Nobody services these! Polaris quit making them, and parts are scarce. They are the worst PWC in the industry. They make better flower pots! And, the ski you started up sounded like it was going to run away from being lean. Sea-foam does not work in any vehicle if it has water in the tank! Get a small glass jar, add some gas, add some water, and add in some sea-foam and you will see my point after the separation phase. The biggest problem with those old XL’s was clogged internal fuel filters in the carburetors. I feel bad for any Polaris end user, lol! You should give them a box of matches with every one you sell, lol!
At 10:25.. cranks it up to show youtube it runs after its repaired and good to go.. *Fails to start.. then revs the motor when starting the second time to make sure it'll run for youtube... IT DIES* lets leave the $200 jetski's at $200 for a reason. 🤣😂🤣😂
1. It didn’t “die” I shut it off quickly because it was not in water.
2. The guy I sold it to for $2500 test ran it on water prior to purchase and it ran well.
Ummm....ummm...ummm
Next time write your script
Good info , thanks
