And even if it isn't required, always wear a life jacket. It's just a good idea. 👍😎 Thanks for sharing, Chad

I've had a ton of jet ski's / waverunners and you video ws spot on.. on one hand it made me want to make my own video just because I enjoyed all you said but on the other hand I feel like almost everything was included in your video. Great work on this production and have fun on the water!!

Muriatc acid that you can get from Lowes or Home depot will take off that stain. For those looking to get a ski, the closed loop cooling is more intended for salt water use. For fresh water use, it isn't much of an advantage. If you run in salt water, and don't have a closed loop cooling system, you MUST MUST MUST flush the engine with fresh water after EVERY USE. I would do it anyway. One last thing is that jet skis tend to go through spark plugs for some reason. If ever the engine is running a bit rough, try park plugs first. I have purchased all my jet skis used and I feel I get more ski for the money that way. Good video!

Thanks for the info. Does that acid eat through the gel-coat? That’s what I’d worry about. I like that the closed loop cooling makes it a bit easier to winterize, because you’re really only winterizing the exhaust cooling system - not the entire engine cooling system. That means less chance for potential freeze failures.
As far as the spark plugs - that’s a great point. This ski runs like brand new with a new set of plugs every year. We did a video about it. ua-cam.com/video/1bychYOh9Ww/v-deo.htmlsi=zNyl_x2hrcZKRKgy

@@PurpleCollarLife The muriatic acid will not hurt your gel coat. It is really what "On and Off" hull cleaner really is, just cheaper. It is an acid and has a sour odor. Don't scrub, just spay it on and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes and the stain will disappear, then rinse it off really well. Try it on a small test spot if you are unsure, but it will work.

Should bring ski to someone that can read ecu and tell you all the history of the ski including hours. Also ride plate condition and check two fittings near back of engine hull area...good dollars if you have a leak. Also should pull oil filter and inspect for metal etc. and overall oil condition. Nothing wrong with supercharged engines...way more power and rebuild every 100hrs not a big deal. Wear ring and impeller condition important as well. Maintenance records is a big plus especially if it's dealer serviced and any service bulletins are done.

Great tips, and all true Chad. You've got a pretty nice fleet going there. Maybe a new Purple Collar Navy channel...🤔🤔🤔

Thank you for all the information. I would love to have one but not a priority. I agree condition and maintenance is important. I bought a new pontoon in 19 with a 90. It just didn't do the things I wanted it to. So you making the point of how are you going to use it was very important. I sold our runabout when I bought the pontoon. I now have a pontoon with a 200 on it. The runabout was better at water toys. I love the pontoon and it will do water toys. I did see your wake board video behind the 60😂.

Thanks for watching! We actually spend some of last week doing a lot on the Sport Nautique. I forgot how easy it is to wakeboard and waterski behind a boat with the right power plant! :) But it’s good to know it can be done behind a 60 hp pontoon if I’m desperate. Enjoy your Sunday!

@@PurpleCollarLife A great video covering the jet ski when buying a used model. I have a larger speed boat, but I am getting along in years and want a jet ski which is smaller and easier to handle. I am making a list of your important points on what to look for. Enjoy your time on the water. Thanks for your knowledge.

I also live in Northwest PA between Pitt and Erie. Been looking into a jet ski or a small river jet boat. Would rather have a jet ski but not many places allow them and have hp limits. Would love to know where he goes riding.

IMHO hours are a very poor indication of wear like you said. My dad has put 300 hours on his PWC but its all medium speed 2 hour long excursions in flat water. while a TRIXX with 25 hours and straight pipe should be avoided

Here's what fucked me up about buying a used Seadoo. These things don't have standard diagnostic ports like cars have with an OBD2 port. The diagnostic tool is like $600 so if you have any engine problem you're pretty much forced to take it to a dealer.

  • @SargeISF

Dude you didn’t get scammed, you didn’t follow procedure. If the deposit was supposed to be refunded upon delivery, then you needed to get that in writing during your deal negotiation with either a receipt showing the terms or a “we owe” slip during the signing of the paperwork. You weren’t even reading the paperwork and just signing from what the video shows. Honestly, coming from someone that has been in the industry for over a decade this was not a bad deal at all. Take this as a learning opportunity and make sure you check and actually read your paperwork, and don’t take any dealership at word of mouth. Safe riding!

Disagree with the opas steering assist, its better to buy a ski with them removed. All they do is create drag and they are known to leak and sink skis.

    • @PurpleCollarLife

That's interesting. I've had them on 3 SeaDoo machines now - and never had an issue.

Toilet bowl cleaner from wal-mart will remove the old water line.

Thanks! I'd never heard that. Does it remove the finish though? I used a product called "Awesome" from the Dollar store once on our camper, and it cleaned off the black marks - but also removed the gloss finish! :)
