I've leave my Cubase almost 3 years playing around with Cockos Reaper, but now I've just realize Cubase is much easier to send FX than other DAW, finish watching your video, I'll go back to visit Cubase haha ❤️
No wonder as a beginner with Cuebase I was getting confused by listing to videos using other DAWs. Thanks a lot!!!
These videos are a godsend when it comes to learning Cubase. 100%
I like the simplicity of the way Cubase handles busses. I've used many DAWs over the years, including Cubase a very long time ago, but I really like working with the current version of Cubase. I ran the demo last October and was hooked. The videos in this channel really helped me get up to speed in learning Cubase. Such a huge help. I just purchased the mixing course as a way of saying thanks.
I asked the question......and you answered it. god bless
This is the best Best routing tutorial I’ve understood so far in CuBase. Thank you Chris 🙏🏽
thanks chris😍👍I couldn't understand what is a buss channel but this video is really helpful.
Instructional, clarifying and idea provoking as always. Thanks Chris
Nice video again Chris. I love that Cubase allows two different channels for groups and FX because I use each one differently. On my group channel, I may EQ and compress lightly to bring everything in that group together so to speak. However, I may only want reverb on one of the sounds in that group so that sound will go to an FX channel. I also like the automatic routing but if I want to change the routing, that's just a couple of clicks and done.
Mad respect man switching from Pro Tools to Cubase was having a hard time learning the terminologies but your videos are really helpful had to hit the subscribe button after my third video watching of yours. You explained it really simple especially at the end.
Brilliantly clear, thanks.
Awesome as always!!! Thank you
Excellent this helped me. Thank you!
Coming from FL studio, Cubase's mixer is a godsend! Having to manually route every track in the mixer into my own bus and sends in FL was so tedious, meanwhile Cubase's is just a right-click away. Thank you Chris!
Glad you like Cubase but you do not have to individually route tracks in FL. You can select several and make a submix, route to a selected track, route to selected and master (for FX tracks), side chain to selected etc.
Very good stuff! Big thanks 😀
Simple helpful advice really useful to me coming from Logic Pro thanks Chris
I like the idea of fx channels and group channels. It provides a clear distinction. However I still appreciate the fact that Pro Tools has the ability to assign a "bus" as input or output to any channel. This requires a few extra steps in Cubase as I have to add a dummy output bus(no physical output) then activate direct routing. Comes in handy when printing to audio.
very clear Chris !! You are the man
Thanks!
this was massively helpful, thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
You make it simple again Chris! Thanks a million! 👍😎
My pleasure!
Hi Chris! Thank you for this video (even I know all of that already) . But it is nice to see clear explanation why is (for me, and this is just one of the thing) is Cubase Pro much better DAW for me than ProTools for example. Btw. for ProTools users , GROUP channel in Cubase and AUX in ProTools are the same. You may also use GRP/AUX channel in the same way in Cubase with sending signal as an AUX to GROUP channel and use it for FX . It is just simplier and faster to make new GRP/AUX with routing in Cubase.
This is a really helpful comment. My hubby is a pro audio engineer coming from the analog & protools world and when we try to work together, I always trip up on how to explain what things in his world are called in Cubase. I literally wish someone would make a graphic/book/chart on this so we can get on the same page faster.
Helpful info -- thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Great video, Thanks, Chris. I have had a problem with my Effects channel tracks. Let's say I put reverb on guitar using the effects channel track. When I have the fader on zero there should be no reverb going to the guitar. You should just hear the guitar but If I lower the guitar signal and the reverb signal I can still hear the guitar reverb very loud. So this is with both faders on 0. This is post-fader as well. Any idea what is going on?
Thanks for the French Accent warning 🤣
Can you cover the difference between setting up ST vs Mono busses for Input/Output. My real question may be - in the input/output dialogue with a 32 I/o device, is it best to set up 16 stereo buses of which I'll be able to use Left or Right if I need a mono path OR should I set up both 16 stereo and 32 mono busses?
Thanks
thank you very much for another great video, but, an small thing....in protool you can make an aux track just like in cubase with "automatic" routing. If someone need it in the future. Thank you !!!
Thanks for the info!
@@mixdownonline thanks to you jedi master, my cubase teacher
Excellent tutorial Chris thank you. You certainly know how to explained Cubase very clearly.
You're very welcome!
you probably dont give a shit but does someone know of a method to log back into an instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot my account password. I love any help you can give me!
@Achilles Julio instablaster =)
@Emmett Julius I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm.
Seems to take a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Emmett Julius It did the trick and I now got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my account :D
thanks for the info nice video
Any time
Is it possible to send tracks/group channels to two or more separate group tracks? How would you do this seeing there is only one output slot for each channel/ group track in the routing section at the top of the mixer?
instant like!
Boom!
Is this the ball park for when you want to create a path that can allow me to have my guitar plug ins out put to be playing while I can turn the play back on the track I’m recording off as not to use extra cpu? Thinking of presets with lots of reverb and delay on them that tend to use more cpu. Is this a possibility ? I’ve heard this but looking for confirmation on this technique. Cuz it would be EXTREMELY useful. Is that what this all leads to? Thanks anyone! New to this stuff
Awwsome
thank you
You're welcome
Hi Chris. I get latency on the selected channels when i add them to a group channel. Do you have any advice on how i can fix this?
Hey chris. Side note. Thought i saw a guy that looked a lot like you. I mean i was constantly checking him out because i thought, "Hey! This is Norwalk, Ca. And that could totally be him." Wasn't sure, so i didn't call your name. But maybe.... anyways. Have a great show. Peace ✌
Nice sir
Thanks!
how many busses are available in cubase 12 pro. How many audio tracks are available and how many simultaneous tracks can record. thanks
Hey Chris, Question for you. So I have 3 mono vocal tracks, and I wanted to create a group for them. So since the vocals are just in mono. When creating a group track would I make the configuration mono? If yes, Why do the pan knobs disappear on the vocal tracks when create a mono group buss, but when its in stereo group buss the panning doesn't disappear?
You can use a mono group only if you're routing tracks that are always panned in the centre... It doesn't happen often to be honest... For your mono tracks you want to pan around, route them to a Stereo Group
Thank you for the response! :))
So for Parallel Compression for the whole mix I could basically create 2 output busses, 1 for Compression and 1 for dry mix and send both to the master right?
Yes! I did something aroung this ua-cam.com/video/0uDYPIYRFDQ/v-deo.html
please help i notice if i switch from a different drivers lets say i moved from a focursite to a asiodriver the moment i switch and change my output to asio all my track outputs doesnt change to the asio output insteads it becomes empty and i haave to start routing every track output to ASIO BUSS which is very stressful is there no way to make the output of every track rout automatically to the driver output i switch it to?
Thanks for clearing that up.
Quick question, when creating FX channel, say for parallel compression on Vocals, is FX channel supposed to add volume to vocals? This is what I'm getting.
Appreciate all replies. ✌
Yes, exactly, it will since you're blending 2 signals together. You just need to balance this out
@@mixdownonline Thanks bud!👍
I'm still figuring all of this out. LOL
Now what is the purpose of the parallel signal in the FX path? In the group track, the whole signal goes where you point it, while in the FX track only part of the signal. What is the purpose and meaning of this? Why is this useful for effects like delay and reverb?
Well if you route through just one effect, it's not really any different (you can get the same effect by adjusting the dry/wet on the effect). The power comes when you want to chain multiple effects--so if you want to run the signal through a delay and then a reverb, you put the delay -> reverb chain on the inserts in the FX track. That lets you adjust the dry/wet balance of the whole effect chain at once by moving the fader on the FX track. You also get all of the benefits of a channel (automation, sends, etc.) for the effect chain itself.
How to send the busses to master out
Is the term Bus trademarked by Avid so Steinberg couldn't use it to designated what the whole wide world knows as bus instead of "group"? It was so confusing, thanks for clearing that up.
Looking for how to have sends on faders.
I use it a lot in Logic Pro but can’t find it on Cubase 12 pro.
Can someone help?
The output of the last FX Channel (14) you added to the channels (11,12,13) is not routed to the group-buss, but the master, why?
No reason, this is only a Cubase Project for teaching purposes. The focus is not on where the FX Channel is routed but what is the difference between FX channels and Group channels :)
in all this video talking about using different bus no one is clear in this way .....so in the end it is beneficial using .for example , for every group channel a different audio interface's channel or go straight to the master stereo channel...?????
Hey Chris...something wierd happening. I tried to andwer to reply on my comment but 2 times my answer is deleted!? Do you know anything about it?
I
Ho Chris Jeferson from Brazil
Hello Jeferson!
Aloha! My name is Sean and I work with Aixdsp. What's the best way to send you our plug-ins?
Hey Sean, send me an email info@mixdownonline.com :)
What about if you create another bus with some tracks you already used for a bus?? It leaves the old assigned bus and uses the new one right??..how can i create different buses using some of the same tracks??
What are you trying to achieve?
@@mixdownonline sorry if i could explain it better. but i'm trying to create a bus with X and Y and than create another bus with Y and Z. but when i create the new bus i lose the 1st bus cause the y is now routed to the new bus.
So i couldn't create 2 diferent buses using the same audio track.
Imagine if i want to create a DRUM bus but then again an INSTRUMENTAL track with all the tracks. can i have a bus with 2 different routings?
Great Vid.Something I'm still unsure about (I hope I didn't miss it in your explanation).
Let's say that for vocals, we only have 1 vocal channel and 1 fx channel for it (as in your example), and I see that they both go to the master.
Now since they are parallel, are they both entering the master as separate independent channels (as I guess it would since they are independent), or do they sum up and mixed as 1 channel before entering the master. Or is it one and the same?
What I am trying to get at is,
is it that the vocal channel and the fx channel are treated as 2 separate channels and summed up for an overall effect, or is it that the fx acts as an effect in the vocal chain, where it just directly affects the whole vocal in its single signal flow, being treated as one channel going into the master.
In that case, they both enter the Master Channel independently.
@@mixdownonline Great, thank you much for the clarification!
this video is frustrating. It is NOT the same as an AUX track (we dont call them buss tracks) HOW do you create a legitimate aux input in Cubase where I can input an external synth or something COMING THROUGH MY CONVERTORS into an AUX track? There are no EXTERNAL inputs on these FX or Group tracks. PLEASE make a video about that or point me to one, thanks
From which DAW are you coming from? Here's a video I made regarding External Synth in Cubase ua-cam.com/video/avq-ByLsC-c/v-deo.htmlsi=yikTTdt_qgfjYwHr
I also have this one for re-amping and using analog gear ua-cam.com/video/4R3cBjNa8Yc/v-deo.htmlsi=AVhricCMWDjGwaeA
And an older one ua-cam.com/video/ZCdOp4JpY18/v-deo.htmlsi=p5xCA_aWsaWPsk9-
I'm due to make a fresh video on this, but let me know if that helps! :-)
Thank you I will check it out. I am coming from protools or digital performer
Dude! Turn your auto focus off in your camera LOL
good video thnx
