You didn't even mention his success rate on onside kicks. Probably the best onside kicker of all time. NFL literally changed kick return rules because of it.
Yea...... Pat McAfee is all decade team and was just nominated for 2025 HoF entry. This is his second time being nominated. He will likely be in the HoF on his 3rd nomination.
McAfee has said himself he shouldn't be in the hall of fame. He's nominated along with Shane Lechler, Gary Anderson, Josh Cribbs- all guys more deserving of the hall. Nominations are based solely on media votes, so being a media personality he likely got a nod from a friend, not a serious bid. I don't even think he made it to being a semifinalist.
he’s already said shane needs to go in first before he would ever even consider saying yes, and he thinks the reason he was nominated was for the powers that be to put him the the hall as a media contributor in the future
I think hes going in for his combination of being a legitimately great punter and his contributions to the game via media combined. I doubt he would go in as a punter alone, but he was a great punter regardless
Oldhead here. I don't hate Pat at all for his energy. I hate his occasional piss-poor takes, but not his enthusiasm for spreading those terrible opinions. He was one of my favorite special teams players during his career. He could kick (all sorts of ways: kickoffs, onside, punts, field goals; you name it), he could throw, and GOTT DAMM he could tackle in the open field.
McAfee's first headline was during a night out in the Broad Ripple night life area in Indianapolis, he was pulled out of the canal, shirtless and quite drunk. Small town PA boy, WVa grad, I think he was simply taking his Saturday night bath.
lmao never heard that story. Best we got in Seattle was Golden Tate's rookie year he was walking past a donut shop at 3 am and the back door was open so he stepped in and helped himself to a maple bar and got busted by the police.
Great to see the background on Pat. It's mentioned sometimes, but your video clearly shows his talent and personality from the early days. Thanks for posting this.
He is a person that has always pushed the edge both good and bad. The thing that he brings is you get who he is, not who he thinks you want. Sometimes that is not the best Pat but he knows that and is will willing to do better.
Good, Great, Elite. Call him what you will, but his impact in sports media and the grip he has on college football will be what he's remembered for in the long run. Fantastic life story regardless. What a dawg
I don't appreciate Rich Eisen's show being the one on the screen when you said scripted and formulaic. That guy has the most reasoned takes out of anyone in the media and Chris Brockman is always there to spice things up.
Mcafee wasn’t supposed to throw a touchdown pass to the flats; he was supposed to run a touchdown through the open c gap, the c gap that Troy decided to line up in one time and one time only. The fact that this well known, basic fact is wrong makes me question everything else in this video.
The worst part is that Bork got the TD to the flats play confused with the “We are kicking it!” play and while trying to correct the video creator, self owned themselves into a far more embarrassing realm than thought possible
When I found his show on ESPN, I was hooked! Him and his cronies are hilarious, AND know what they are talking about. But the best part? No constant commercial breaks…it’s awesome!!
I think Pat will get in the Hall of Fame. He's been nominated 3 years in a row. They will get him in at some point on a technicality of "Contribution to Sport" via his show etc. I love Pat and his show. I don't care what the haters say. I enjoy it
he was a top 5 punter-kickoff guy his whole career, punting stats are tricky to try to compare cause it's way easier just to bomb them when your team can't get a first down, most of the sports talking heads are nowhere near pat's level when compared to their contemporaries and none are anywhere near as genuine
2 things.. 4:25 pat never had a beer belly playing.. maybe towards the end of his career but he wasn’t fat by any means.. and also when going over his college accolades let’s not forget this dude has the points record at WVU.. just a little extremely impressive fun fact
forgot to mention his all decade team selection and him recovering his own onside kick. His leg was a weapon for the colts. very reliable. could always count on him to pin the other team deep. onside kicks, tackles, fake punts, team morale, and pinning opponents deep. easily top 5 punter ever.
I like him alot. Its actually fun when he's about to talk and you can see his eyes dancing around to complete a half confused expression. Its an internal squabble where there's something he wants to say or do that would require a collision into the guardrails of being on mainstream media for the very large dollar that he could never earn as an athlete.
He won’t get into the hall as a punter BUT I wouldn’t be shocked if they put him in for his work as a broadcaster. The hall says it’s what you have done and are doing for the game. Pat is an excellent young representative of the league
Think you forgot to mention that Taylor and Will and Travis were regular guests on his show before they even started their shows and were the inspiration to making Bussin with the boys and new heights.
Feels odd to talk about him being so clutch in the biggest moments and leaving out that Backyard Brawl performance that ended WVU's chances at a national championship.
Shane Lechler better get in soon because in my opinion Pat is absolutely worthy. When someone revolutionizes the position they play stats shouldn't play a role, not to mention he did it in such a short career time span. Sure, onside kicks and fake punts were a thing before Pat, but his innate ability to convert sets him miles apart. I'm saying this as a Virginia Tech fan for what its worth.
He has the bombastic personality that kinda reminds me of Madden and if he starts doing games in his late 30’s to early 40’s, maybe he has a legendary announcing career. At some point, I hope he does MNF.
He was never a directional ot coffin punt specialist. He said so himself. He just had a huge leg. The colts threatened to bring in a directional kicker and he had to actually learn how to punt later in his career...
McAfee was easily the VIP of the dreaded suck for Luck season, flipping fields at will. In the days he was punting for Indy and swimming drunk in the canal, he also hosted a show of sorts at a bar called Kilroy's. That was when I noticed his ability to play off the cuff and hold the room.
If Pat played in this era he'd probably have played even longer, his personality even then rubbed some people the wrong way and i remember him telling a story about how a special teams coach they brought in absolutely hated him and was part of why he bounced
His stats for pinning people are because he was on a team with a good offense. Always punting from the 40. If he was on a bad team his net would have been better. He was literally known for having a big leg. Kicking stats gotta be taken onto context.
He was very good. To make an impact as a punter and kicker is very hard. He did so on a really great team also. I would say all decade team. Not HOF. But the transition is logical. He's always been larger than life.
He was a punter. With a very funny personality. It’s actually impressive. He’s done what he has done since he’s retired. Still, though he was very good at kicking a ball. There are plenty of very great punters.
Pat is also a proud member of the Broad Ripple canal midnight swimming club. Love Pat's personality. Hopefully he's a little more mature and got the drinking craziness behind him.
My favorite Pat moment was when he "allegedly" got drunk and arrested for trying to break into a car after swimming in the canal. Pat is humorous and he spent time learning about the media spending time with Bob and Tom.
Pat McAfee has been a game changer his whole life. McAfee's energy, humor and 'shenanigans' are legendary... Just what the NFL Hof needs. (Love that guy!)
When Pat called the fake field goal TD pass in the Lions-Packers game about 5 years ago or so. That was my favorite call of his. My favorite thing he did post football was his match with Adam Cole in NXT. He did some moves that I never would have though to see an untrained wrestler ever do.
You left out his best feature onside kick he converted better then anyone i have ever seen i think one year there was only 6 onside kick recovery and he had like 3 or 4 of them
You didn't even mention his success rate on onside kicks. Probably the best onside kicker of all time. NFL literally changed kick return rules because of it.
Allegedly ..
I love the stories that basically start with, "I gambled on myself" and it worked out.
they franchisee tagged him that tells how good he was
Yea...... Pat McAfee is all decade team and was just nominated for 2025 HoF entry. This is his second time being nominated. He will likely be in the HoF on his 3rd nomination.

He hates awards also. He'll probably appreciate it but He'll feel awkward.
he’s already said shane needs to go in first before he would ever even consider saying yes, and he thinks the reason he was nominated was for the powers that be to put him the the hall as a media contributor in the future
Colts fan here, mcafee was great but no he's not HOF worthy, could argue rigo that replaced him is better
I think hes going in for his combination of being a legitimately great punter and his contributions to the game via media combined. I doubt he would go in as a punter alone, but he was a great punter regardless
old heads hate him for no reason. he brings the energy
@@teebob21 respect it.
I loved Pat kicking an onside kick and recovering it himself. Never saw that before.
Elite play
And you probably won't ever see it again because the NFL changed the rules so that you can't do surprise onside kicks anymore
McAfee's first headline was during a night out in the Broad Ripple night life area in Indianapolis, he was pulled out of the canal, shirtless and quite drunk. Small town PA boy, WVa grad, I think he was simply taking his Saturday night bath.
"allegedly"
lmao never heard that story. Best we got in Seattle was Golden Tate's rookie year he was walking past a donut shop at 3 am and the back door was open so he stepped in and helped himself to a maple bar and got busted by the police.
being from around indy, they made shirts. idont remember what they said but thats kinda how his legend began i think, his canal swim
That's when McAfee became my favorite player.
My favourite McAfee moment is him entering the 2024 Royal Rumble, facing down Omos and Bron Brekker and noping the f out of there immediately 😂😂
I had never watched any kind of sports talk shows. But after watching just 2 shows I was hooked! Keep it up and keep, keeping it real Mr. McAfee!
Best 7th round colts pick ever. He was amazing
Great to see the background on Pat. It's mentioned sometimes, but your video clearly shows his talent and personality from the early days. Thanks for posting this.
Appreciate the kind words.
He never led the league in punting yards because he played with one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time.
His announcement of a Colts draft pick in 2019 is my favorite Pat M movement.
McAfee is the best punter I've seen in football. I'm a Texan fan and knew he was going to pin us down almost every time he punted.
He is a person that has always pushed the edge both good and bad. The thing that he brings is you get who he is, not who he thinks you want. Sometimes that is not the best Pat but he knows that and is will willing to do better.
A great player with a great personality👍💯
Good, Great, Elite. Call him what you will, but his impact in sports media and the grip he has on college football will be what he's remembered for in the long run. Fantastic life story regardless. What a dawg
Pat McAfee and Marquette King brought swag to the punting game
I don't appreciate Rich Eisen's show being the one on the screen when you said scripted and formulaic. That guy has the most reasoned takes out of anyone in the media and Chris Brockman is always there to spice things up.
Yeah, the rich eisen is formatted not scripted. Not a good comparison
A legend. Drafted as a punter but never did in college at WVU. He was the field goal kicker. And not being afraid to hit was a plus too.
He was the punter at wvu too
What are you talking about? He had over 5500 punt yards at WVU and averaged 43.7 yards per punt.
No doubt about it, he is one of a kind. Love catching clips of his show.
Mcafee wasn’t supposed to throw a touchdown pass to the flats; he was supposed to run a touchdown through the open c gap, the c gap that Troy decided to line up in one time and one time only. The fact that this well known, basic fact is wrong makes me question everything else in this video.
Thanks for sharing. I wish I could be as good as you or Pat. I make mistakes. Sorry to those who are offended by me not knowing about this play.
@thehalftimeshow he saw the angel of death waiting for him in the c gap
The worst part is that Bork got the TD to the flats play confused with the “We are kicking it!” play and while trying to correct the video creator, self owned themselves into a far more embarrassing realm than thought possible
@@thehalftimeshowhe’s wrong so don’t feel too bad
@@jacobusredacted3535 what?
Pat was not a stats great but he will be remembered as one of the greatest I personally seen

Pat McAfee is 💯% ok with doing a Work and/or being uh Heel. That's what sets him apart!!!
Favorite moment? Dano calling in and LANK before the rosebowl 😂
I think Pat will get in the Hall of Fame. He's been nominated 3 years in a row. They will get him in at some point on a technicality of "Contribution to Sport" via his show etc.

Dude was one of the best special teamers of all time. He wasnt a raw numbers guy he was a field position guy.
Love the Pat McAfee show, brings entertainment to the max. I want to know what this guy is thinking that know one would even dare bring up.
That tackle he made laying the frkn boom stick on a dude WOOOOOO
My favorite McAfee moment: LANK!
Imagine David Baker walking into the thunderdome to induct Pat into the hall of fame 😢
He definitely benefits from post career popularity with these HoF nominations but hes defo one of the great punters
Pat was great. Made you want to watch punts n kickoffs.
2 things.. 4:25 pat never had a beer belly playing.. maybe towards the end of his career but he wasn’t fat by any means.. and also when going over his college accolades let’s not forget this dude has the points record at WVU.. just a little extremely impressive fun fact
EVERY college team with a 4-year PAT/field goal kicker has the team's point record. LOL
He was an amateur swimmer in Broad Ripple as well, a true Renaissance Man
forgot to mention his all decade team selection and him recovering his own onside kick. His leg was a weapon for the colts. very reliable. could always count on him to pin the other team deep. onside kicks, tackles, fake punts, team morale, and pinning opponents deep. easily top 5 punter ever.
He can make it based on his impact on sport. Stats don’t always reflect impact. Pretty simple
He was good, for sure. Getting AJ Hawk on his show was genius.
Pat is a legend, no other way to say it.
As a colts fan I can confirm. Pat is THAT DUDE
I like him alot. Its actually fun when he's about to talk and you can see his eyes dancing around to complete a half confused expression. Its an internal squabble where there's something he wants to say or do that would require a collision into the guardrails of being on mainstream media for the very large dollar that he could never earn as an athlete.
I knew he played football, but I did not know I grew up watching him, play and rooting for him. I didn’t know that was the same guy. Wow.
This video sounds like one long run-on sentence.
He's the KING of Punters!
As a Texan fan that self onside kick gave me nightmares 😭😭
Growing up as a Texans fan, there’s two things I hated about the Colts TY Hilton and Pat McAfee
TY was Houston’s daddy!
He won’t get into the hall as a punter BUT I wouldn’t be shocked if they put him in for his work as a broadcaster. The hall says it’s what you have done and are doing for the game. Pat is an excellent young representative of the league
Pats show is the only reason I even started watching football again
Think you forgot to mention that Taylor and Will and Travis were regular guests on his show before they even started their shows and were the inspiration to making Bussin with the boys and new heights.
That’s an excellent point. Thank you for sharing.
he will definitely be in the hall of fame... hes been nominated twice already
Feels odd to talk about him being so clutch in the biggest moments and leaving out that Backyard Brawl performance that ended WVU's chances at a national championship.
Shane Lechler better get in soon because in my opinion Pat is absolutely worthy. Sure, onside kicks and fake punts were a thing before Pat, but his innate ability to convert sets him miles apart. I'm saying this as a Virginia Tech fan for what its worth.
He had his own show on WTTV 4 when he played for the Colts. I watched it religiously.
I don't follow Pat. But he's cool! Congrats on everything Pat!
Clearly McAfee was not better than the Angel of Death waiting in the C gap. This is common knowledge. 😄
His stats for pinning people are because he was on a team with a good offense. Always punting from the 40. If he was on a bad team his net would have been better. He was literally known for having a big leg. Kicking stats gotta be taken onto context.
The Owen call will forever be the greatest moment on his show
All I know is pat is awesom
I probably have seen every game he's played as a Colt. I don't think he ever muffed a field goal snap/hold. Reliable.
I always hated kickers, punters.... then came McAfee. 😂😂❤❤
Not gonna talk about his tackles?? Dude was a beast if a kick return came his way!
I put several highlights of his tackles in the video. Thanks for watching and commenting.
The problem with this argument is that Pat was on a team that had a GREAT offense year after year.
When he took a swim in the canal in Broad Ripple. Legend.
One of the beat punters of all time 100% a Hall of Famer
May not be a hall of fame player. But SHOULD be a hall of fame media personality.
Smartest punter/kicker ever
Pat knew that he'd be far more successful off the field then he would on it. Eventually, he'll be commentating for games as well
He may make it to the HOF someday due to playing career plus media career
i liked his interview with caitlyn clark
Pat was a kicker, he had to learn how to punt when he got drafted.
He could get into the NFL HOF in an entirely different way
Not before Steve Tasker
Pat is also a proud member of the Broad Ripple canal midnight swimming club. Love Pat's personality. Hopefully he's a little more mature and got the drinking craziness behind him.
Punters don't get drafted...pat got drafted as a punter
He also got franchise tagged as a puntter
I grew up a Colts fan. Pat is the greatest punter ever. I don't care what anyone says
My favorite Pat moment was when he "allegedly" got drunk and arrested for trying to break into a car after swimming in the canal. Pat is humorous and he spent time learning about the media spending time with Bob and Tom.
ESPN contract value was never released, fake number is given here instead. My source: McAfee himself.
Best punter plus kickoff kicker ever
I’d say pay was the first football player to actually succeed with podcasts and paved the way for all the other former players to start theirs
Pat
Man will 1000% be in the HoF
Pat McAfee has been a game changer his whole life. McAfee's energy, humor and 'shenanigans' are legendary... Just what the NFL Hof needs. (Love that guy!)
Pat and Thomas Morstead were probably the two best punters in the modern era
Shane Lechler was a bomber too
When Pat called the fake field goal TD pass in the Lions-Packers game about 5 years ago or so. That was my favorite call of his. My favorite thing he did post football was his match with Adam Cole in NXT. He did some moves that I never would have though to see an untrained wrestler ever do.
This video did not do him Justice, he literally kicked a kickoff to himself
Hearing the name Troy Polamalu just ruining my night.
He was mid, just happened to be on the same team as Peyton Manning
Sheesh
Pat McAfee is the Joe Rogan of sports media.
You left out his best feature onside kick he converted better then anyone i have ever seen i think one year there was only 6 onside kick recovery and he had like 3 or 4 of them
he's a DAWGGGG...in the social media era
Probably the best punter in history
this is better than his actual show..
Didn’t even mention his onside kicks - shameful lol
We talkin bout the BOOM stick?!
