Wasn’t it, ever since I was 7 I have a massive obsession with city scapes at nighttime, got in photography when I was older and have some belters, my friend lives on the 24th of a tower block and his balcony over look Manchester (has lots of towers these days) and would love to recreate that image 🤘

They started to run the city to the point that they even had the police corrupt which is why Axel, Adam & Blaze turned their badges in. You have to let the start screen sit & it will show their profiles & they are all Ex cops but there are still some good cop like the ones that help them in their super move. It’s not the deepest story but it not JUST punching thugs til you get to the final boss. Plus I said back then not now.

The streets of rage games will always hold a place in my heart, the synth the bass even on Genesis sounded amazing here to the streets and the music lighting it up🥂

I remember seeing this for the first time, it laid bare so much possibility. It spoke of the sadness of a city falling into crime, and yet the hope as three brave people stand up to say no more. As a 10 year old, this was the future of video games for me. ..............yet new pixel games today that feature this same style music, and similar style openings....they make me smile and excite me for the game, but they don't give me goosebumps like this did. They don't make me stare out of my window at night wondering if three brave people can stand up to my citites corruption today.....and if I might be one of them? No. I have changed, and so has my world, and that mysterious wonder I had about disocvering new video games and how it was a part of the fantastic discovery of life overall...... ....that's now largely diminished, and can't be recalled. This makes me yearn, not for "days when gud games were made, not liek stupid kids with fortnite 2day smh" but for the days when l was.....more...I dunno, innocent, carefree and drawn into the world, as corny as that sounds?

No matter how realistic graphics become and how much effort is put into the music and effects In modern day games ive never seen one quite as effective and legendary as this one . I had streets of rage 1 and 2 for sega and it reminds me of my grans house as a young kid . I actually get goosebumps hearing the theme

This track is clearly inspired by Enigma - Sadness. Knew this as a kid as they roughly came out around the same time in the early 90s. Was a popular song in the charts in the uk. Very well done on the megadrive hardware.
The year is 2001 everybody had a PlayStation n I saved up to buy a sega megadrive two from my weekly allowance beacuase parents couldn’t afford a PlayStation and I got to a pawn shop and they sold me streets of rage together with the megadrive two and two sonic games To this day this is the greatest childhood memory Streets of rage had a crazy soundtrack while playing
Saved up for weeks to get this when l was a kid then finished it in one go without needing to use any continues. I'm glad sor4 was more challenging., even if the soundtrack wasn't as good.
The Genesis didn't have as wide a range of music that it could do as well as the SNES, resulting in most games sounding bad, but I couldn't imagine SNES getting this vibe.
@Switch Fan Yea, I definitely agree with you. The best way I can describe it is that it doesn’t sound like the Genesis, but at the same time I feel it could only be done by the Genesis.
This game has the best soundtrack of the 16bit genre, but i think this was just the beginning of a classic series. When streets of rage 2 came out it had even better tunes.

Never liked the game. Not as much as everyone else did. Was a huge Final Fight fan, and Turtles Arcade, and the Dugeons and Dragons + Golden Axe games etc. But Streets just felt off to me. Not sure what it was. Anyways, I'd bought a game genie from this local second hand bookstore that also traded video games, and they had the japanese versions of Mercs, Streets of Rage, Ecco and some R-Type clone. Bought them all. Streets was the only one I didn't finish, or like, but I remember the soundtrack being pretty legendary.
I don't care if this game came out later Streets of rage has and will always be better than Final fight. Final might have Rolento and Poison as two iconic baddies but Shiva blows the top as one of the coolest and most badass. Plus every soundtrack from 1-3 even the remake all came correct.

I used to spend the night at a friend's in the early/mid 90s and we'd stay up playing through the first 2 over and over. This music is so nostalgic.
