LDN changed my life. After 8+ years of chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia symptoms, hypothyroid, CKD and more. Started at .5mg and now take 6mg every night. Month 4 was a game changer and it’s continued to be a life changer a year into it. Thanks for the video and sharing this knowledge.
Starting this today. I hope it works for me too for rheumatoid arthritis pain and fibromyalgia. Even if it helps with fatigue. I'm 44 and feel like I'm 90 even on meds for both. Thank you for your honest comment. UPDATE: 3 weeks in and this is working more than anything else I've tried. It in combination with RA meds and good diet they are giving me my life back. 😊
For those of you who have problems taking LDN-. Try the tincture! LDN is a wonderful drug- a bit of a learning curve and I had to titrate slowly from 1.5 to 4.5 but it’s been smooth sailing w9th remarkable effects. I can now WALK-have increased energy, stamina-- just amazing results and I am doing things I only dreamed about six months ago. Thank you to my young internist who did research with LDN as a resident at Yale--
Did your dreams subside after your body got used to it? My biggest draw back with trying LDN is the idea of dreams because I never feel rested at all if I have dreams. No matter their form.
I am Naturopathic Doctor and Midwife. I’ve used it with patients with Parkinson’s, interstitial, cystitis, chronic bladder pain syndrome, endometriosis, hashimotos, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic Lyme disease, MS, and various other women’s health issues.
I have been sick and disabled with ME since 2012, in May i finally got LDN and now 2 months later I have a much better life, i am getting there but it takes time.
May I humbly suggest that you research ketamine infusions. As a treating doctor I have seen some amazing turn arounds in some long time chronic sufferers.
I am a practicing Family medicine doctor in South Africa and 6 months ago began administering KETAMINE infusions to long time severe fibromyalgia sufferers. I have been amazed at the results. I intend adding LDN to my therapeutic armamentarium. 🌴👯♀️
@aestheticdoc1pe I'm in Cape Town and have suffered for years with Fybromyalgia and now neuropathy after cancer treatment. I was using up to 400mg Tramadol SR a day. I've had 2 Ketamine treatments, both were terrible experiences. Then I heard of LDN. I've tapered off Tramadol and will receive the LDN tomorrow. I can't wait for a happy pain free life!! I wish more doctors knew about LDN !!
What an excellent video by a highly competent doctor. Generally speaking the phrase "highly competent doctor" is an oxymoron in medicine; but not in the case of Dr Hakimi. His patients are fortunate indeed.
Nice to see a competent doctor. I meet naturopaths with this kind of knowledge but met some really terrible MDs as I was struggling with late lyme/fibromyalgia I almost died in spite of seeing neurologist at top teaching hospital in Oregon! I should have tried LDN long before but had such bad reactions to medications. I was able to change my body with reiki and other suggestions of his in this video as far as supplements and other sensory experiences.
I have most if not all of those diagnoses... well over a year on LDN and was getting worried it wasn’t going to help. Blood work looked better in some areas.. but body still breaking down. I just started dosing LDN 2x a day and finally ... a break! I am a believer that some of us need 2x a day.
I have Myasthenia Gravis. I was diagnosed last 2017. I recently changed doctors since my Mg got worse. He introduced me to LDN that's why I'm here. I just started taking it last week. Hoping that this medication will help me with my condition. 🙏
Dear Hazel, please let me know if I can find you for some questions, I hope you are well , I have mg and looking for any help in the world. Thank you. If you can please reply here .
Has it helped !!! Would love an update !! How it is going now for you ! Hope all is well !! I'm a CNA, have lots of patients/elderly that may benefit ! Not a fan of CBD oil.
I'm using this to upregulate my opioid receptors after years of opioid abuse. I'm taking about 1mg 2x/day. Completely kills all cravings. Somewhat tackles anhedonia. It's also helped my back nerve pain by about 30%. We need more studies on LDN for post-addiction. I'm experimenting on myself after heavy research into how it works on the brain.
Hi it sounds interesting. But surely if it binds to opiate receptors that means it is a type of opiate drug right? Am I right that it's a blocker just like subutex? Subutex is harmful and very addictive. I'm trying to understand. The thing is I have auto immune hypothyroidism so I want to learn more about this but I don't want to take an opiate.
@@The_New_Abnormal_World_Order it's the polar opposite of an opiate drug. there are two major classes of substances that fit into the opiate receptors like puzzle pieces. first type is the typical opiate, which activates the receptors, releasing artificial amounts of feel good chemicals. this is the type you're thinking of, which consists of all the major and minor narcotic drugs out there. these are referred to as **opioid AGONISTS** naltrexone is the second type. it also fits like a puzzle piece, but it doesn't activate anything. no euphoria is activated. it's basically a squatter, preventing anything else from occupying that receptor while the naltrexone is there. think of it as an ANTI opiate. the proper term is **opioid ANTAGONIST**. so it's the opposite side of the same coin. but it's devoid of any opioid effect at all, so you'll never get addicted to it and you'll never have risk of overdose that opioids have. P.S, subutex is buprenorphine. while it's true that it's an opioid blocker, it's also an opioid itself simultaneously. naltrexone is ONLY the blocker.
@@The_New_Abnormal_World_Orderit is not like a traditional opiate or even Suboxone in the sense that it doesn't cause dependency or withdrawal if discontinued. It's an interesting one indeed. I'd talk to your doctor
I brought pile of papers to my pain Dr. to see what he thought and he agreed to try it for me. For me it helps Fibro Fatigue. He went on to subscribe to others. But in the pain field many of his patients of course did not want to come off opioids. I came to him not wanting to take any strong pain pills and this really helped. You feel better and start moving around more and that helps with pain.
Glad to see another smart doctor sharing an approach that is off-label and different from the approach of mainstream medicine. Methotrexate and Gabapentin are not nice drugs and have zero healing effect. Great job Doc!
please help me. Is Naltrexone for an 11 year old boy at 50mg every night safe? shouldn't he be on a low dose? he is taking an adult dose for heroin addicts, right? Is 50mg LDN like you talk about?
@@DrBrandyRoseLipscomb thank you Dr. Lipscomb. . I believe the psychiatrist made an error, huh? my son has been on 50mg every night and has seriously regressed. There was no reason to ever give him 50mg, it should have been 0.5-5mg for an 12 year old autistic child, correct? 50mg is for an adult addict. please help me.
JazakALLAH khair thank you so much for explaining so beautifully and precisely about LDN. I suffer from MS and tinnitus. I started taking LDN about a few days ago after watching your video and from the first day alhumdulillah I started to see a positive change in my health. I Have heard and watched this several times to understand LDN. Thank you so much! May God increase you in your knowledge and grant you continuous health, success and happiness. Ameen Love and prayers from U.K 💝
LDN has helped me so much, but only once I had gone completely off of painkillers, which I achieved through careful diet and exercise changes. I also find CBD oil really helps me keep inflammation down in my body
I had immediate results with 1.5mg LDN ,I was experiencing excruciating pain while sitting , but especially bad in a car either driving or passenger , due to the angle of the seat ! I experienced immediate 80-85% relief of pain and 2weeks 90 % , 3 weeks 95-100% relief of pain and as the Doctor explained I just felt better , my outlook was greatly improved , my joy for life was returning quickly , it was everything I wished for but more , this drug should replace Sodium fluoride in our water systems and America would be a New Nation in a Months time , improved in every way it's just that good !
Great video.I am just getting ready to start for chronic pain and osteoarthritis, cervical dystonia and chronic fatigue.I also have central hypothyroidism.
I have had Myalgic Encephalomyolitis Chronic Fatigue Syndrome MECFS for 7 years. I have following both Dr. Myhill's book and Dr. Teitelbaums book on this disease. I am about 70 percent better, but I still have a ways to go. I have heard about LDN from other UA-cam videos and recently asked my doctor if she could prescribe it for me. I am waiting to hear back from her. There is a compounding pharmacy just a mile away from me. So, I am hoping to try it. The channel that is known as "Fight 4 ME" has some information on LDN and the man that runs the channel has had good results from taking LDN. Thanks for the information, doctor. I will look up that website you mentioned. God bless you and your family, Miss Monique 🙂 🙏 🌷 💗
Thank you very much! Please also see more info regarding ME/CFS on our website: bodyofharmony.com/blogs/health-news/me-cfs-a-complex-long-term-illness-affecting-multiple-body-systems
Was just prescribed and compounded LDN and am taking my first dose soon; I just had oral surgery and they want me to rest a few days so the bone graft isn’t at risk, so once that’s settled I get to start it and begin counting down then 3 mo, then 6 and 12 mo marks… praying my body appreciates this as much as the science and friends I have whose lives have been changed for the better do! Fibromyalgia, CFS, ADHD (meaning crap for sleep), major anxiety disorder, general anxiety disorder, MDD, poor nutrition absorption, etc…. Really looking forward to the potential boost this could give me to really begin thriving in PT and the mental and physical demands *healing* brings. 2 herniated discs and more that doesn’t matter; I’m ready to drop excuses and find answers and I now have an OLD SCHOOL DR who took one look at my records and said, “this may really help you. Have you ever heard of LDN?” Uh, yes, but no one has ever believed me enough to consider it; my best friend with fibro and AS uses it…I have fibro and nerve damage and overactive nerves and holy crap this doc is right: me not believing I’m worth acknowledging the pain I live with bc I see others I love who suffer doesn’t make me a better mom or person! It means I’m one more person not getting help that’s available! Let’s do this! I understand it isn’t a magic bullet. I understand there’s a chance it won’t work for me. But I also understand that I have a CHANCE, and for me and my family, what more can you ask for???? Not to mention I can share this video with others!
Thank you for sharing! It is a lot that you are dealing with... The realization that we have to be better (get better) so we can do better for others changes our future and the future of everyone around us! I hope you have already seen some good benefits from using the medication and continue improving. If your OLD SCHOOL DR does not practice functional medicine it would be good to consult with one. In my experience a lot of the emotional issues stem from the gut, our second brain and the reservoir of Serotonin. Please keep us updated on your progress.
That is great! Thank you for sharing that information. Were you taking any supplements to help? Did you have to adjust your diet or stay away from certain foods?
@@BodyofHarmony Sometimes peanuts would cause it but mainly dogs as I'm very allergic to them. The thing was I had hives almost everyday for at least 5-7 years. The doctors called it idiopathic urticaria because they couldn't figure out what was causing it. Came across a UA-cam video about LDN and had my Doctor who is part Funtional medicine and part DO prescribe it and as soon as I started taking it my hives stopped completely. I actually take a lot of herbs and eat well but nothing helped my hives.. My immune system was way out of wack. I have autoimmune disorder. Another plus of LDN is it makes you feel good 👍
Hi there how muc did you take when you started . I am on no other meds but I have severe fibromyalgia for 26 years now . My doc wants me to start on 4.5 he says it's still low dose and it's a good therapeutic dose .
There is one precaution of LDN you missed and it is important. It may interfere with anesthesia. It must be stopped prior to surgery or procedure, but thee may be increased number of receptors and still affect the amount of anesthesia needed. Must not start until all pain meds out of body, recommended at least 2 days after stopping them.
Hi Jeanne, Thank you for that. Is that off of personal experience or an actual medical science / research? We could not find anything substantial regarding Low Dose Nalterxone (LDN) and pain meds / anesthesia, but we are aware of that for full dose Naltrexone.
I have Lupus and Fibro. I'm experiencing severe flares lasting from beginning of January till apx May. I will be speaking to my rheumatologist regarding trying LDN. I'm really hoping my body responds well to this medication.... It would be so wonderful to feel like a functioning human again.
Yes, our experience has been one week for adjusting to the medication. However, if it does not make sure you discuss this with your physician. Sometimes we need to make changes in the timing a patient takes it.
Hi there, I just received a script frm my family doctor. I will start it on Tuesday as Monday is family day in Canada and everything is closed. I have medical issues and have stopped Opiods for pain a week ago. Watching you doctor talk made it easy to understand without too much technicle explanation. My dosage is 1.5 mg I believe. Hope I feel better than I have been in years. Thank you from Canada.
I have had Great luck with LDN for pain. It reduced my sed rate considerably which decreased my pain. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia which really is a waste basket diagnoses. I also have thyroid disease which is autoimmune. It's helped my thyroid also. I felt crummy for about 2.5 months but I had that runners high feeling everyday as it was working I also lost 13 lbs effortlessly. Good luck
I have Sjögren’s, Systemic Lupus, hashimotos, arthritis, familial lipidemia, sleep apnea, horrible insomnia, Raynaud’s, and I also tested positive for Antinuclear antibodies, anti-DNA, Anti-Ro, and carP. With everything going on, it’s not surprising I have had an infarction, which scares me to death. I get my DNA panel done once or twice a year, so I’ll see if mine goes negative from LDN. I haven’t had a negative and a panel in 20 years. I am so excited that this is my first night on LDN.

This is such an formative video and comment thread. Hoping I get positive results and that it help with my sleep problems, I am waiting for my prescription to arrive. Will keep you posted!
I have found better sleep! Started off with 1.5 mg and now at 4.5. At first I felt the dose made me a bit awake but still feeling rested in the AM. Getting to sleep much easier now.
I hope my Dr. will prescribe LDN. I’ve already told her I do not want to take immune suppressants. I already have too many issues with a weak immune system. I have Fibromyalgia and will find out more at my next appointment.
I will be starting LDN for mold toxicity illness soon. Just seriously praying for a miracle. 🙏 It’s been the hardest year of my life, hands down, and honestly it was functional medicine that saved my life to begin with. Traditional doctors didn’t help me at all and never even recognized mold as the problem. They only bounced me around specialist to specialist, creating outrageous medical debt with ZERO answers. I’ve never felt so disappointed in my life with our medical system. It IS taking so long to heal 😢 but I know I have to be patient. My functional medicine practitioner and I are hoping LDN can keep me afloat while I detoxify and keep healing. If anyone has experience with LDN and mold illness, I would love to connect. Thanks so much for this video!
I am sure your functional medicine doctor is doing a mold detoxification as well... Conventional medicine does not offer a practical and specific treatment plan for mold therefore it is ignored. Please keep us posted.
the medical system in USA is broken a long time ago. seeing the amount of health issues and people taking 10 kinds of pills give me chills. I hope your "good" practitioner can help you. if brings you comfort. I have always being prescribed antibiotics for my sinus infections. for 40 years, until I 've got tired and do research on my own and find saline rinse. totally with no side effects, cheap and made me feel 100000 times better every day. Im sinus clean now for the past 12 years so this is just a bit of what my doctors SHOULD have done for me instead of give the Big pharmas more money for the antibiotics. Good luck to you.
Thank you for your video very helpful. I have started this medication at 1.5 this week for Fibromyalgia, I am feeling very hopeful ! I also am starting medical cannabis.
Amazing product for me!! been taking for 2 weeks. Within 2 days noticed decrease in my servere arthritis pain and inflammation. Changed to morning so it wouldn't effect sleep, as did initially..slowly moving it closer to bedtime now my system is becoming familiar with. I have been able to decrease cannabidiol with this medication will use in unison. So far this is an amazing substance for me and has definitely increased my feeling of well being. Waiting to see if it assists Lymphatic Colitis along with many dietary changes..fingers crossed
I've been using 500 mg Quercitin daily, noticed my foot pain going away, have barely been able to walk, didn't really associate the reduction of pain with quercetin, but when I reduced the Quercitin the pain quickly increased, so restarted the 500 mg and again, thankfully pain was reduced !!! I would like to try the LDN, would love to be able to exercise again !!!
Does anyone know if a provider in Kansas City area that will help with LDN? I am desperate for help. Dear Dr. your patients are so blessed to have you in their life!
Commenting to help boost this b/c it was especially helpful for me, just learning about this. Thank you so much, sir, for explaining this so well. This gives me some peace about trying this as recommended by my naturopath.
Excellent. I’m a DDS and probably have multiple patients with multiple comorbities that would benefit from at least and evaluation and work up by a physician with your knowledge and experience. Would it be true that all autoimmune disease disorders should be looked at in the light of potentially using this medication as a triage?
Because I don't believe in All-Or-None prescriptions I say most inflammatory conditions may benefit from a trial of LDN. Obviously, we do a comprehensive inflammatory and autoimmune blood work before and after initiation and throughout the treatment with LDN to see the effects of LDN with data points.
I have tried everything to get rid of this pain. I have UCTD and Hashimoto’s. Some days I just lay in bed wasting my life and getting fat. I am going to try LDN hopefully will get out of this pain.
I understand. Too much... I understand. I'm waiting for an appointment with the Pain Management site I was finally able to get my doctor to refer me to. I've got diagnosis of hashimoto's, fibromyalgia, (first diagnosed back when it was called fibrocystitis), lupus, chronic regional pain syndrome, CPTSD, & depression which antidepressants have never touched. I'm saying my prayers and crossing my fingers at LDN helps both of us, all of us, that can use it.
Sparky 1302, I am watching this video for the first time and saw your comment. I too lay in bed many days wasting my life and have just started on LDN. How are you doing? Did it end up helping you?
@@panama7564 LDN changed my life! I no longer have markers for lupus nor the need for pain pills. I went from taking 4.5mg a day to 3mg a day but I'm not sure it's going to work. I also take lots of vitamins and go to a naturopathic medical doctor. I feel like a normal person now. I pray you have the same luck as me, L
I’m in my second day for Lyme, IBS, diabetes, and possible long Covid My Functional Medicine MD has been treating my Borrelia for two years with antibiotics without success and I saw an APRN who specializes in LDN. I’m hoping to reduce my rotator cuff tear pain too.
I'm also taking Black Seed oil for my Hashimotos. My TG antibodies dropped from 20 to 3.1 in less than a year. My TPO antibodies dropped from over 1300 to 112. I also am on the AIP diet (no gluten, dairy, soy) and that helped a lot
I am now learning about LDN in my practice. I'm working with a local compounding pharmacy. They have a structured titration of 1.5mg x 2wks, then 3mg x 2wks, then 4.5mg x 2wks. Listening to your video I'm wondering if people who are experiencing improved mood and elevated endorphins even at 1.5mg is that reason to keep them at that dosage or continue to increase to 4.5mg? Thanks for the education video. Very informative
Great question! First of all the titration structure is something that was not there at the beginning. We started doing that because some of our patients could not tolerate the 4.5mg dosage. But it gave us a way of figuring out who is more sensitive to the medication as well. I have patients who have always stayed at 1.5 or at 3mg and never graduated to 4.5 because the next dosage up was not tolerated well. The 4.5mg was the original dosage based on the research so we do try to reach 4.5mg with those who can tolerate it well.
@@BodyofHarmony Thank you so much for responding to my comment. I am thrilled I've discovered LDN. My patients are doing wonderfully. I am looking forward to watching more of your videos. Thanks for your help. Brooke
I was on the capsule form of 1.5mg and it gave me energy & I felt great as my under active thyroid was finally functioning well however the capsules gave me reflux. Then I tried using the cream which was too strong and made me feel unwell no matter the strength so after a month of trying I gave up. So next my GP prescribed troches. I had my first small dose 1/4 of 1.5mg + 1/8 th last night ( equal to .56mg) & today I finally felt well. I’ll slowly increase it to find my sweet spot & continue to have blood tests for my thyroid function. I know when my thyroid is functioning well - I just couldn’t seem to respond well to the cream at all , which I rubbed into my forearms where the skin is thinner- as instructed by my GP.
Great video, I was interested to learn more about LDN and this was helpful. I’m about to start low dose for a gut issue that despite many tests has not been positive for any of the usual issues.
@@BodyofHarmony yes Doctor I will.. I’m hoping this works as I’ve tried a number of things and haven’t tested positive for anything at all yet have the symptoms of SIBO.
It stopped my progression of progressive MS. I am 10 years in . I still always have symptoms and I struggle alot when I have UTI's but so far no progression on my MRI and one lesion that was on my spine is not there. I am not sure if that happens normally.
Many thanks to you! Never heard that before here in Germany. I have Colitis for almost 20 years with a lot of Cortison. I will give it a try and speak to my doctor if that is an option for me.
I’ve just started LDN for Crohns. Started on 0.05 and going up every week till I reach 4.5. Know that it’ll bring the inflammation down. Prepared to try anything! I’ve been on remicade for years. Unfortunately a heilpraktiker can’t prescribe it. Ask them if they know of someone who prescribes it. Viel glück.

Thank you! Some doctors are not familiar with LDN, I was not at first and was resisting against prescribing it too. You may want to forward this video to your doctor. Keep us posted please.
Do you find 3mg or 4.5mg ends up being the best daily therapeutic dose from most patients or does it depend on ailment being treated ? Do you always start at 1.5mg then increase dose or some patients start right away on daily 3mg or 4.5mg dose?
Yes, 4.5mg mainly becomes the dosage. Some people may need 3mg or 1.5mg based on their response and effects. We start either 4.5 or 1.5mg based on the situation and the sensitivity of the patient.
Chronic pain may have many different aspects, so does Migraine headaches. Yes, we use NAD in our practice for those conditions, however, NAD is a part of a complete evaluation and treatment plan. At Body of Harmony we specialize in a total body balancing protocol. For example: migraine can be one or a combination of these reasons: hormonal abnormality, vaso-spasm, food sensitivity and allergy, eye strains, tension, previous head trauma, misalignment of the cranial bones, misalignment of the upper cervical spine, and much more.
@@BodyofHarmony Ok, thank's. Very complicated. It's not for me sadly, the person who suffer the headache may have multiple plausible cause like you explained there. I may have to let her finding herself the solution, we don't live in USA. Have a good day !
Hi there! I have MS and have successfully used LDN. My neurologist also has me on a peptide therapy called Thysmosin Alpha 1 that has been amazing in keeping my symptoms at bay :-)
I’m now taking LDN for my MS. Started 3 months ago and I’m having a really good experience on it. The first few days gave me nausea & dizziness but then I switched to taking it at night before bed and had no further nausea or dizziness. So glad my neurologist was willing to try it on me. She was hesitant at first but I convinced her with all the info I found online.
LDN does not interact with opioids directly. It works on the receptors. If you are asking about simultaneous use: Physicians advise their patients to stop taking LDN if they are prescribing opioids.
Starting this medication this week to see if it helps my pain and fatigue - I have hypermobility type Ehlers Danlos and very high RNP and ENA autoantibodies....nodxas yet
We have seen a good change with antibodies within 6 months of initiation of therapy. If you are working with a functional medicine physician you will also most probably start anti-inflammatory supplements as well. Please keep us posted.
@@BodyofHarmony I'm going it alone as not impressed with any of the functional docs I've seen over the past decade for my daughter. I've cut out wine and am doing keto which is anti-inflammatory. @@BodyofHarmony only problem is finding a doctor that's willing to prescribe it. Apparently constant headaches, joint pain, fatigue, brain fog, neuropathy... Isn't good enough.
Just started LDN. Really hope it helps. I have more health issues/symptoms than I can list and only functional/Intergrative medicine doctors talk about/prescribe this.
I just posted some results on Instagram: instagram.com/p/DAjWGrVyMVV/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== It decreases the TgAB and TPO, the markers for inflammation and autoimmune thyroid disease. Once one starts LDN their thyroid needs to be monitored, as the inflammation decrease thyroid function will get better and there is need for decreasing thyroid medication dosage.
Really great video! Thank you! I'm just about to embark on LDN, but not sure of one thing...if it can be a couple of months before one starts to notice improvements, when you're in the titrating up phase, how do you know when you've hit that "sweet spot"? Eg, if I start at 1 mg, then maybe go up to 2 mg in two weeks, but don't notice anything, how do I know that either 1 mg or 2 mg is my sweet spot, but wouldn't know it because it could take a couple months to see effects. Does that make sense? This really puzzles me.
Cindy, the sweet spot is 4.5mg, generally. The only reason we start with a lower dose initially is to decrease the side effects of sleep and energy imbalance that occurs in the first 10 days. The second reason is some patients have a more sensitive physiology and cannot tolerate the 4.5mg dosage. This can be noticed as they increase the dosage to find a sweet spot for them. I keep in touch with my patients the first 14 days of titration plan for the above reasons. In most patients everything goes smoothly as planned and a small portion need adjustment of dosage. Please share your experience with us after the first 3 months.
I’ve been taking 1 mg LDN for about 6 weeks now. I’m taking it primarily to help with POTS. My naturopath says she doesn’t plan to titration me up higher as the research she’s seen points to POtS patients doing well with that dose. I’d love to know your thoughts, Dr.Hakimi.
Every person responds to LDN differently. Some need lower doses and others higher doses. I always teach my doctor students to treat their patients and not the diagnosis.
What if you need surgery or have an accident end of in the hospital and need pain relief? Will opiates not work if you are on LDN? Thank you! PS. Great Video!
Great question: With surgeries we ask our patients to stop LDN one week before. However, there are records of people being on LDN and going through surgery and anesthesia and then on opioids. The opioids do not stop working with LDN (as far as we know). Remember LDN is 9% of the lowest medical dosage of 50mg per day. However, in case someone gets into any issues where they need to stop LDN they do so until the situation has resolved. Then they can restart LDN again.
Does LDN help with Functional Neurological Disorder caused by Covid 19 infection? My symptoms are weakness of the arm with loss of movements in the hand . Would LDN help me regain movements?
Dr. Forest Tennant in CA recommends using LDN troches rather than oral LDN, especially for patients with Ehlers-Danlos as these patients could have gastrointestinal dysfunction. I have both Ehlers-Danlos and Adhesive Arachnoiditis. Do you have any experience with LDN troches, and do you think troches are more effective than oral LDN? I'm paying $1.50 / mg and I imagine oral LDN is less expensive. I've never tried oral LDN and I'm wondering if I could just switch to oral. I'm at 4.5 mg for 2 months with no pain relief yet.
It is always good to try different routes of LDN to see which one works better for you. Remember, as i say all the time, each person is different and need a personal treatment.
I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia and have been one of the lucky ones that a certain amount of physical therapy/exercise does help as well as D-Ribose, I started out on 5g a day (grams not mg) and then worked up to 5g three times a day. I always take it after food. Its not a miracle cure but it does make a noticeable difference and it takes awhile to really notice / build up an effect. Another family member of mine with fibromyalgia said it did nothing for her though.
D-Ribose is different than LDN (just clarifying so the readers know why you wrote that high of a dose comparing to milligram dosages of LDN). D-Ribose may help the body in different ways, functioning in the ATP pathways. Fibromyalgia patients may have Mitochondria issues and that is where supporting ATP pathways may help. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Hello! I have had Hashitoxicosis episodes and a history of Hashimoto thyroid problems from my 20s and low levels of energy since I was a kid, how can I get myself LDN prescribed? I am in Botosani Romania. Thanks, Gabriela
Hello Gabriela, You need to find someone in Romania who prescribes LDN. If you cannot find anyone search for Naturopaths and ask them for direction. To your health!
It all depends on the condition that is being treated, symptoms and laboratory parameters. For example for a person suffering from Thyroiditis we look at the decrease in ThyroPeroxidase Antibody and AntiThyroglobulin Antibody. With other conditions we look at ANA, CRP, ESR, Rheumatoid Factor,... As the condition improves the parameters get back to normal range. At that point there is a wean off protocol.
Hope you don't mind responding to a very very late question. Loved your podcast. So here goes the question. How does low dose naltrexone affect blood clotting on somebody that's taking an anticoagulant for example? Eliquis?
Do we get the same benefits on higher dose? I started taking it to cut back on drinking (I ended up quitting for good.) I have psoriatic arthritis and would like to know if I should keep going even if I don't need it for drinking too much. I feel better now that I'm taking it but a lot of that is from giving up alcohol.
Low Dose Naltrexone is usually around 4.5mg and at that dosage it creates its effects as anti-inflammatory. I am not aware of any studies that suggest at higher doses (50mg) the anti-inflammatory effects are present.
Happy to come across this video tonight. Just began researching this option for fibromyalgia, and you have helped tremendously. Edited to ask the following: can one initiate LDN if currently taking melatonin for sleep?
Thank you very much for your comment. Naturally there is no contraindication between Melatonin and LDN. However, you need to clear this by your primary care physician as well.
I was prescribed 25mg of Naltrexone everyday from my Psychiatrist because of Opioid Addiction. To take it for atleast 6 months. I'm here because I don't tolerate naltrexone really well; it causes me stomach aches, diarrhea, etc. So i'm looking for ways to reduce the side-effects.
HI Gabrielle, You may try Homeopathic medications for the symptoms you mentioned in your comment. I am not able to give you suggestions as a physician without evaluating you. Your physician might have some suggestions too.
@@BodyofHarmony oh thank you so much for responding 😊 and for your advice. I have a question though, will I able to reap these benefits of LDN by eating 25 or 12.5mg of naltrexone per day?
so you said, take it 2 to 3 hours before going to bed so if I go to bed at 9 o’clock, I would possibly take it at six? also, I’ve heard that Doing LDN & NAD plus is a game changer. I’m about three months in and still waiting to fill the energy everyone’s talking about. I got to 4.5 but felt worse so going back down to three.
In a lot of cases LDN is taken 3 hours before bed. Your doctor might decide to change the timing based on the effect you get during the day. It might be 2 hours, 1 hour, or even right before going to bed. Discuss your symptoms with the physician who prescribed it for you and see if there is a reason to change the timing.
In certain cases we use it in the morning, or even twice a day. For some it causes grogginess during the day and that is one of the reasons to take it at night.
Hi, great video. Can an ms patient who is receiving Ocrevus take ldn is it of any benefit for him if he has primary progressive ms, and how to get hold of this medication in Uk. Thanking you
Hi there , I have severe fibromyalgia pain for 25 years ! I don't take any painkillers at all , I am starting LDN this week but my doctor says I should I be fine to start on 4.5mg as it's till LDN low dose .... do you agree with that dosage to start with ? Many thanks For your outstanding video
Yes, 4.5 was the original dosage we all used. The sleep changes that I explained in the video were for that dosage. Please let us know how you feel within 3-6 months of starting it. Best of luck with LDN. Make sure you are also evaluating your digestive system and hormones, including Cortisol. We got better results when we managed thyroid and cortisol and used anti-inflammatory supplements.
I am so happy to hear that! Thanks for sharing.
Starting this today. I hope it works for me too for rheumatoid arthritis pain and fibromyalgia. Even if it helps with fatigue. I'm 44 and feel like I'm 90 even on meds for both. Thank you for your honest comment.

Did it help for alcohol or opioids? Curios??
LDN worked immediately for my fobromyalgia. Side effects were me feeling better and some weird dreams. I ABSOLUTELY look younger!
Thank you for sharing that. I am glad it worked for your fibromyalgia. My patients also report looking younger or being told they look younger.
Did your dreams subside after your body got used to it? My biggest draw back with trying LDN is the idea of dreams because I never feel rested at all if I have dreams. No matter their form.

What an excellent video by a highly competent doctor. Generally speaking the phrase "highly competent doctor" is an oxymoron in medicine; but not in the case of Dr Hakimi. His patients are fortunate indeed.
Hahahaha... Thank you for your kind words!
Nice to see a competent doctor. I meet naturopaths with this kind of knowledge but met some really terrible MDs as I was struggling with late lyme/fibromyalgia I almost died in spite of seeing neurologist at top teaching hospital in Oregon! I was able to change my body with reiki and other suggestions of his in this video as far as supplements and other sensory experiences.
True.
I have most if not all of those diagnoses... well over a year on LDN and was getting worried it wasn’t going to help. Blood work looked better in some areas.. but body still breaking down. I just started dosing LDN 2x a day and finally ... a break! I am a believer that some of us need 2x a day.

Thanks for sharing that with us!
@@The_New_Abnormal_World_Order it's the polar opposite of an opiate drug.
there are two major classes of substances that fit into the opiate receptors like puzzle pieces. first type is the typical opiate, which activates the receptors, releasing artificial amounts of feel good chemicals. this is the type you're thinking of, which consists of all the major and minor narcotic drugs out there. these are referred to as **opioid AGONISTS**
naltrexone is the second type. it also fits like a puzzle piece, but it doesn't activate anything. no euphoria is activated. it's basically a squatter, preventing anything else from occupying that receptor while the naltrexone is there. think of it as an ANTI opiate. the proper term is **opioid ANTAGONIST**.
so it's the opposite side of the same coin. but it's devoid of any opioid effect at all, so you'll never get addicted to it and you'll never have risk of overdose that opioids have.
@@nightfallm4981 Thank you. It does sound interesting.

The BEST low dose naltrexone video out! Thank you for your knowledge and expertise.
Thank you very much!!! I am glad you liked it.
That’s really good information to keep in mind.

Hi Jeanne,
Thank you for that. Is that off of personal experience or an actual medical science / research? We could not find anything substantial regarding Low Dose Nalterxone (LDN) and pain meds / anesthesia, but we are aware of that for full dose Naltrexone.

Because I don't believe in All-Or-None prescriptions I say most inflammatory conditions may benefit from a trial of LDN. Thank you for sharing!
I’m in my second day for Lyme, IBS, diabetes, and possible long Covid
My Functional Medicine MD has been treating my Borrelia for two years with antibiotics without success and I saw an APRN who specializes in LDN.
Impressive! Thank you...
LDN has helped my arthritis and mobility immensely.
Thank you very much for sharing that with us.
Mine too. It’s a life changer.
Thank you for sharing your experience!

Viel glück.
I’m using turmeric now too for anti inflammation. Just diagnosed with Hashimoto’s. Started on LDN for one week. In the vivid dream 💭 stage.
We have had good success with LDN and the following supplements for Hashimoto's. These supplements combine all the anti-inflammatory ingredients including Turmeric. Turmeric alone might not be enough. Treating adrenal dysfunction is an important part of dealing with Thyroid issues.

This is very comprehensive review of uses of it. Thank you.
You talk about pain, do you sometimes use it for chronic headache/migraines ?
It is definitely used for pain. Simply google "pain naltrexone"

Hi there! I have MS and have successfully used LDN. My neurologist also has me on a peptide therapy called Thysmosin Alpha 1 that has been amazing in keeping my symptoms at bay :-)
That sounds great. Thank you for sharing it with us.
I have MS as well. How long have you used it? Did it heal any flares while also decreasing them?
You have a really great neurologist! So glad to hear you are taking this approach! :)
15:27 so are you saying that it doesn't interact with opioid medications?
LDN does not interact with opioids directly. It works on the receptors.
If you are asking about simultaneous use: Physicians advise their patients to stop taking LDN if they are prescribing opioids.
Starting this medication this week to see if it helps my pain and fatigue - I have hypermobility type Ehlers Danlos and very high RNP and ENA autoantibodies....nodxas yet
We have seen a good change with antibodies within 6 months of initiation of therapy. If you are working with a functional medicine physician you will also most probably start anti-inflammatory supplements as well. Please keep us posted.

I just posted some results on Instagram:
instagram.com/p/DAjWGrVyMVV/?igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
It decreases the TgAB and TPO, the markers for inflammation and autoimmune thyroid disease. Once one starts LDN their thyroid needs to be monitored, as the inflammation decrease thyroid function will get better and there is need for decreasing thyroid medication dosage.
Dear Doctor Hakimi, Is there something you can recommend for osteoporosis and osteoarthritis?
I didn’t remember how well Lenworked until
Thank you for trying to share... would you please write the rest of your sentence.
LDN gave me my life back. Hashimotos and POTS gave me severe brain fog. LDN turned that around overnight
Thank you for sharing that!
Great question:
With surgeries we ask our patients to stop LDN one week before.
I have congestive heart failure, asthma, autoimmune decease, high blood pressure, and chronic inflammation.
Got it.
Does LDN help with Functional Neurological Disorder caused by Covid 19 infection? My symptoms are weakness of the arm with loss of movements in the hand . Would LDN help me regain movements?
Based on experience it does. But there are no scientific research as far as I know.
Ive a question..Fibro gives you already fatigue, non refreshing sleep. How.then am I supposed to.take.this when you.say it.makes u tired?
Great information and sir
how much time it should be used???
Eliquis?
I did not find any indication of affecting the coagulation pathways directly with LDN. If you have seen a good study please reply to this email.
I am on Tramadol for Fibro pain. Will starting LDN reduce the tramadol effectiveness? Responses appreciated!
No, the pathways are different.
Just began researching this option for fibromyalgia, and you have helped tremendously.

so you said, take it 2 to 3 hours before going to bed so if I go to bed at 9 o’clock, I would possibly take it at six? also, I’ve heard that Doing LDN & NAD plus is a game changer.
What do you think about taking it in the morning? That’s what our doctor recommended
In certain cases we use it in the morning, or even twice a day. For some it causes grogginess during the day and that is one of the reasons to take it at night.
