You can't go wrong with literally any Tool song. No joke. And they come in all flavors, from the more spiritual (Parabol/Parabola, Right in Two) to the angrily violent (Jerk Off, Crawl Away), to the philosophical (Invincible, 7empest). All Tool songs are perfect in and of themselves but some are transcendent for what they do to us. Tool will change you for the better if you let them.
Excellent analysis! Really appreciate your insights. I also only later on started paying attention to them. Their ability to connect and set a mood is incredible, on a level with the deeper Pink Floyd stuff.
To be precise they're are called Mandala Drums (or pads), they can be programmed to have certain sounds in different zones. Made by Mandala Drums company.
@@MsJorane I don't think the pad he used for the tabla was a Mandala pad or at least he didn't use it for any sound other than the sound of the tabla. The very beginning was definitely a Mandala pad that was set with three different sounds, but I think all his Mandala pads have the same design on them and the tabla was just plain white.
My favorite comment was, "I was never this good of a drummer.".😂 Brother, im not sure anyone is.

I think the drum you liked the sound of is called a tabla. It's an Indian drum.
