I can’t help but wonder if he pranked Justin and Adam right there. He locks eyes with them and then stomps the high hat twice. That’s the signal to start the chorus part. It just looks like he’s going “Gotcha!”
So I'm a guitarist at heart, played since 8 and im 33 now, but Danny Carey is easily my favorite drummer of all time and Tool is def my favorite band. I've also had the pleasure of being able to meet him backstage a couple times and he's as kind as he is huge. Quick story, the first time I met him I was so star struck that I couldn't even utter any words besides "hi" and he came over and just gave me a big hug and asked how I liked the show lol. Incredibly humble and fun to hang around. As always thanks for the hard work brother! \m/(-_-)\m/
So cool! We actually had a similar experience with Mike Portnoy where we couldn’t find the words and he just walked up to us and was like “you want me to autograph that? Enjoy the show” 🤣
When he goes into the polyrhythm stuff at 9:50 I love how he builds complexity going from one instrument to a hand and then to where each hand starts moving between drums in what seems like their own independent rhythm. To the poster's point earlier, it's so smooth you're still vibing to it where most drummers would draw attention away from the groove even if they can pull it off technically. Insane.
Great point!!! He is seamless and the average listener doesn’t even realize the complexity going on! The definition of putting the music first! Neil Peart always did an excellent job at that too! Thanks for watching!
Some say he’s the best drummer alive today. I haven’t seen anything that disproves that statement. His level of proficiency is just off the charts. His limb independence is just ridiculous. This guy will either inspire you to become a better drummer or make you want to quit in humiliation.
HEY SETON, I HAVE BEEN A GUITARIST For 48 YEARS NOW ,,, But I am SELF TOUGHT / BY EAR,,, So I CAN PLAY DRUMS, BASS, KEYS,,,, SO I AM HERE 4 YOU, & With YOU MY BROTHA 😎...
At 10:45 you can see Danny look up and seem to acknowledge something or somebody with a little smile - seconds later Maynard walks past behind him. Basically, it looks like Maynard just slipped by the kit like, "I'll be right back - gotta grab a water..." and Danny just gave him the, "Sure, man! See you in a few. I'll hold it down out here." Just another day at the office! 🤣🤣🤣
Anyone who knows the depths of metal should know TOOL is the legend band of alt metal. Sounds kinda corny but my fave tool tracks of all time are 10000days p1/2 / wings for marie AND Aenima
Some of the bands that got me through some of my toughest times was TOOL, System of a down, Incubus, Sum41, Blink182, Limp Bizkit, Avril Lavigne, Lacuna Coil, Iron Maiden, ACDC, Alice Cooper, theme track from The Crow movie, Damage plan, Disturbed, Cradle of filth
His er electric drums seem to have a kind of Asian string instrument similar to the Mongolian 3 strong or the Japanese big thing BUT with a flat snare twang
I'm a bit of a drummer but mainly percussionist but that's my dyslexia, I can't maintain the memory or read the music but I can freestyle a drum kit and slay a freestyle drums but like, 1 rhythm I was able to learn on drums was the main rhythm from Aenima
Great reaction. Anyway, can i request your reaction to superb band from japan? The band is call "Lovebites" They all The Beautiful Queens Metal band right now in the earth. Id love to hear Danny's statement but I dont thin he is doing any math to keep count of where he is at. He may have when developing the beat but I feel he has it all by feel at this stage.
To really get an idea how incredibly hard this is to play check out Mike Portnoy from Dream Theater over @ Drumeo figuring this song out for the most part & then trying to play it (took him over 3 hrs & he's one of the best in the world !
We actually reviewed that about a week ago here on the channel! It was such an awesome video and DRUMEO is such a great resource for drummers! Can’t wait for the new DT album with Portnoy back behind the kit!
@@setonhillstudios my bad for not checking - if I could make a suggestion for one I think you would really enjoy was Gergo Borlai performance @Zildjian live ( if you haven't already lol)
15:32 it’s so small but with as many times as I’ve watched this video and listened to the song, you catch the little slip. But, seriously, considering the f***ing sorcery he does for the WHOLE DAMN SONG, I’d say he’s got a pass on that one tiiiiny little flub. I couldn’t do a hundredth of what he can do so we can just leave it at that.

Danny has his own signature ride cymbal that Paiste and him help create together. It is one of the best rides I ever heard in my life!!
