The low tuning sounds like a sample. Damn!!!! I hope they expand the line.
Sorry to be off topic but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account..?
I was dumb forgot the login password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
@Francis Casey Instablaster =)
@Jaziel Kamryn i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm trying it out now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Jaziel Kamryn It worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much you saved my ass !
@Francis Casey glad I could help xD
They sound awesome. I love how you guys split up the microphones too, it makes a huge difference in hearing what the drums actually sound like.
Todd Cantley I absolutely love the room mics. It gives you a good idea of how they’ll actually sound in your basement, lol. In this case, they sound almost as good as they did with the full mix, which isn’t always the case.
I don’t know what’s better: the drums, or your mixing...
Your processing is incredible. Honestly, would you kindly make a complete series on how to record and mix drums, starting from mic placement, to DAW processing, to get the beefy sound of the low tuning?
I'm in love! Nice sound at both tuning ranges!
I love how your showcased the real sound of the kit by soloing the overhead & room mics. Thanks!
What a good sound! Wow! Pearl never stops amazing me.
This drum set is outstanding. Whoever (or group) thought to bring this shell mix to a more affordable line is/are genius(es). The first video I saw of this shell formula was the great Shannon Forrest with the Masterworks Sonic-Select Shell Recipe: STUDIO. As incredible as he is, it's also good to hear an independent production such as DCP make them sound fantastic with other quality players.
DCP makes it easy to pick the right instrument(s) but also damned difficult because everything they video screams of quality (playing, product, recording, and production). Just take my wallet already! :)
Thanks so much for the kind words, love that Shannon Forrest video as well!
I have completely fallen head over heals in love with the sound of these drums
Pearl’s new stuff is amazing that kits great!
It's a golden age for Pearl right now. They were great before but wow are they bringing out some awesome products!
WOW! these drums sound GREAT! I've never been a Pearl fan because I hate their mounting system, but this kit sounds so good that I might be willing to live with it.
You guys earned a follow for the room mic comparison. Very much appreciated! 👍🏻
Thanks, Christopher. We appreciate it!
Love the look and sound of this kit. It's like Gretsch and Pearl merged to create the ultimate drum sound. Big fan of Pearl drums, would love to own this as a Music City Custom kit!! 10x7, 12x8, 14x14, 16x16 (or 16x15 if they can go an inch below square for depths), 16x22 kick and a matching snare with the black diamond or molten silver wrap, or just in this finish because this looks very classy!!
Finally a Pearl kit that excites me! Sounds great..
Totally.
Fantastic sounding Kit!
They are amazing.. High tuning AND low.. really pretty too. Nice vid guys.
Nice Samba at 6:00!!! Beautiful kit!
Like always amazing presentation, sound and video. Please make some video for drum mics and how your engineer make always this great sound.Thank you !!!
For years I’ve always thought these drums are amazing, i can see this used in any genre!🔥🔥🔥
Loved the higher tuning playing and sound!
Beautiful sound... Really lovely
Gorgeous sound
as far as I can built my opinion from here (Germany, Europe) comparing Gretsch to Pearl, is the main point, that Pearl has a drastic higher over-all quality standard by the average of their products...... which would make my choice easy ! This is a really great sounding drum set !! Greetings to the team !
Thank you for your kind words, Andreas!
No matter what I’ve played over the last 40 years, it’s always the same thing for me, Pearl’s quality is so ridiculously great and just like this comment posted here, NO ONE can beat their responsiveness to every customer and their superior customer service as a whole. I’ve personally been the recipient of their lifetime guarantee warranty and it’s superior to any drum company on the planet. These drums sound phenomenal and I’ve personally owned and played the infamous competitor with this original recipe. Pearl has matched and hit it out of the ball park yet made it affordable for the working drummer. Sounds like I may be coming back to Pearl soon👍.
These sound amazing!!!
Beautiful drum kit!
Love, love, love! 😍💗
really nice sounding kit in low and high tuning
These drums sound awesome! They have great tonal range.
These drums are heaven to have
My next Pearl kit
The higher tuning sounds killer!!! 👌👍
Wow! These a killer!!
The low tuning sounds like the drums on the Men At Work tune, Who Could It Be Now.
Sorry, had to get that one out...:D
I'm not a Pearl guy, but these sound incredible!!!! It's amazing what gumwood does for the sound of drums
gretsch has been using it for a 100 years
Those Gumby drum sound pretty awesome.
I love the low n higher tuning..👍👍👍
I'm in love!
Sounds killer!
They sound great!
Maple! The greatest wood for building Drums. I love my Yamaha AHM Kit and of course my PHX. Such a round fat and musical sound.
Matthias Knorr the PHX kits are truly great feats of modern art and engineering, oh, and they sound absolutely amazing as a great plus! Lol but seriously Yamaha is doing some really cool stuff
This is the best sounding modern kit along with Ludwig Classic Oak. They sound different, but both are amazing.
Ya esperaba este gran video! 👍👍😃
Pearl needs to add this to their Music City Custom line.
Larry Casteel could you explain the music city custom line to me?
Zenon Castro you choose between reference, reference pure and masters maple complete and you choose the finish at their headquarters
I think they just did😃
@@erikondrums Yes.
@@erikondrums I know they announced it at the 2020 NAMM Show, but it still wasn't on the website the last time I checked.
I think I've found the kit for me!
Surprisingly very nice!
Wow I love the thus sound
Shane, I don’t know which video it was originally from but the part of the intro at 8 seconds in where you do the “WTF just buy it gesture, you know it sounds good, I don’t need to tell you this” Good stuff!
Miguel Lamas was playing 1 at the Manchester drum show UK. It blew me away!!
The Pearl Masters Maple Gum shell is now available in the Music City Custom line of drums. For those of you not familiar with that, you can custom order a kit in just about any size of shell, with a choice of close to 40 different wrapped finishes. It takes 14 business days which is basically 3 weeks. You have a choice of Reference, Reference Pure, Masters Maple Reserve, and now the Masters Maple Gum. When buying a new kit, you should never overlook Pearl.
Never liked maple material, been playing my entire life. I have no idea why :). But maple with something else, is that what I always loved. Maple/Gum sounds very punchy! I have been waiting for demos of this one ever since it was announced on NAMM. Thanks for killer demo, Shane and the gang!
Paiste Fever I am similar in preferring maple mixed with another wood vs straight maple shells also!
Upon the announcement, I made plans to buy this kit. Now that the prices have been published, however, it's competing with some of the best kits in the world. I was expecting this to be priced like the other Masters kits, but now I have to weight it against a lot of other incredible options. Of course, this kit is still worth the money since it is basically a Masterworks kit. The tone is unbelievable!
They are definitely pricey! The quality is there, and it is a sizable discount off of a custom Masterworks in these (very limited) configurations. Tough call...
What's the price on this kit, for example?
@@djevlhelvete Link is in the description
impresive!
Sorry but
What is that Premier drumset at the back ???
I’m a Huge fan
I’ve got the complete in walllnut antique but I can’t find the 10 inch Tom to match it
How would you compare these drums to the Canopus RFM's? Have u ever reviewed the Peal Master's 14x5 maple gum Hybrid exotic?
I think Pearl is making the best drums on the planet. If they would just start stocking more drums in Nashville and improve on their custom lead times, they could conquer the drumming world.
The perfect Drumset!
i like for drum the tune low high good to hear
Best part of this demo is Tom's chops 👍🏿
What heads were used in this kit?
Nice!!
As you said, is the Pearl version of the Gretsch USA Custom, the only question i have is, are those drums equiped with 30 degree bearing edge or 45? Thanks for the videos!
60 degree outer edges. Thanks for watching!
they sound great at low or high tuning, cheap drums only sound good one way. These are definitely worth the extra money
True. Usually cheap drums sound like shit tuned up (which is where most of the flaws of any drumkit come out)
Do you guys have any plans to do one of these videos on the Renown Maple? I can't find any demos of the 2016 Renown as good as the ones you guys make lol
Thomas Kenny Nothing better at that price point or even more than the new Gretsch Renowns. Tone for days.
@@nocellajoseph thanks man
Oof - that low tuning kills.
Right?!
Question. One your review videos, how do you tune the heads? Are they the same pitch or do you tune top head different from the bottom? And if you tune them differently, what intervals are you using and are they the same for all drums and kits? Thanks!
It varies from kit to kit, but typically the bottom heads are tuned higher than the batter heads. Some drums sound better with larger intervals between the top and bottom and some sound better closer together. We tune for each drum.
What are those small mics?
I could make room in my house for this. :)
I think the 60 deegres bearing edges bring a more versatil sound than Gretsch USA CUSTOM.
The gretsch USA custom has gumwood in the middel right? Not in the inner plys like the Pearl here.?
@Crusader good question
Yes
A big difference to the old Pearl Exports, I had years ago.
I ordered one today
Are you satisfied with this kit? Does it sound as good as it does on the recordings? They sound amazing on every YT video.
awesome sounding kit! Buuuutttt nothing beats a Yamaha Maple Hybrid :D :D
I prefer the pre-buyout Oak Customs.
This or Brooklyn from Gretsch?
Is this kit available in a 8-10-12-14ft-16ft-22kick configuration
No 8 available yet
Thx !
The low tuning is like a Jeff Picaro session with Boz Scaggs.
What muffling are you using in the bass drum?
The stock Pearl muffling pillows.
lovely sound from the kit!!! but gotta say, i was more interested in the doggo in the back! #preciouspupper
That's Franklin
@@adamfrost3722 then franklin is precious
What mics are you using on the toms?
Earthworks
JESUS CHRIST These drums sound EXCELLENT
Wow! I'm not a Pearl fan, but these sound amazing!
Pearl has always just kinda been there for me, decent drums, nothing exciting unless you get up into their masterworks for big $$$. But this kit, I must admit, sounds really good! And they do not have those clanky ugly black metal mounts. I like the aluminum ones much better! Hope they do a few nice finishes in this line, I'm in!
I liked it the first time when it was called Gretsch!
#thatgreatgretschsound
DW owns Gretch, and DW has a copy version too.
@@scottlowell493 you are incorrect sir, they're only the distributor.
Yes, technically every ply drum shell is a copy of Gretsch.
Class has ended, as you were.
@@artcorvolet Sonor is older than Gretsch...
Marko Marković Gretsch invented the ply drum shell!
being totally honest, the low tuning sounds average at best for drums in this price range. The high tuning really shows the uniqueness of this kit, that sound will sell a metric-F-ton of kits. IMHO, obiviously. Another great video from Shane and the crew at DCP!
Holy God these sound amazing.
Like a Gretsch....but with vastly better hardware, imo.
And more open sound due 60 deegres bearing edges?
Completely fell in love with the tone but waaaaaay too expensive for a kit that's made in Taiwan and doesn't bear the prestige (and the possibility to hold its value) of, say, something like a masterwork badge.
Taiwan is not Mainland China though.
@@heidiheidiho6412 And even if it was : they all can make very good drums. But still : we all know why the manufacturers got there and it's only for costs savings, so...
@@isaacisback8786 I agree, but I kinda trust Taiwan to not cut corners compared to Mainland China, even with quality control. :)
I'd really like to know what drum kit holds it value.Ive owned 42 kits my friend,90 percent top of the line from various manufacturers. Once they leave the store you just lost a bundle unless you hang on to them for perhaps 50 years.Lets don't shit the shitter.,!,!!
@@davidsuprenant893 Sure. I should have add the quote-unquote ponctuation around hold its value phrase (I thought that it was common knowledge that almost anything that is bought new loses its value the second it gets out of the store and not that I needed to be extra careful in case someone... anyway). But my point is that like a DW or a Ludwig, a japanese high-end Pearl drumkit will lose around 40% of its value when a taiwanese will lose around 60% (not talking about vintage gear, though) . Just take a look at the market (although there are a lot of other parameters to consider).
Btw, I don't need to know how many kits you've owned to take what you say seriously ; I don't need "proof" of your knowledge.
A lot of toms these days, are 10 and 12, instead of 12 and 13 like they used to be.
Why is that ?
Fashions change...🤷🏻♂️ When I was a begginer teenager, the "standard sizes" where 22, 12, 13, 16... now they seem to be 22, 10, 12, 16. In the 80's and 90's, people liked deep shells, now they like shallower ones, like the 70's and before.... I think it's cyclic, like most fashions...
It also depends what style of music.
If I'm playing metal the 22, 12, 13, 16 setup is the way to go.
Latin music I'd go with 22, 10, 12, 16.
👍🏽
phaaat!
Similar and good...but not quite Gretsch
I think gretsch has had that sound for a long time. Pearl is just trying to copy it. You could have had it for years if you had purchased Gretsch.
WOW, that low tune!!!
Why are some Drummers leaving Pearl and going to DW drums with pearl making drums like this
@@user-zx5yd4cf3y Po meni, Pearl je najbolji za metal iako sam fan Tame
I usually hate pearl drums. This kit sounds decent. But why put die cast hoops on toms? Let them breathe!
With all due respect, get serious, get a vintage drum kit ,one each,Ludwig, Rogers, gretch, slingerland, from the 60 s, they will all sound different ,with the same heads, and tuning
has no one else noticed the dog chilling behind the kit during the higher tuning demo? i don't think he digs the kit. looks pretty unimpressed.
Dude I’ve never heard such low powerful sounding drums.. like that’s damper than my bath tub
"Notorious"?
For being coveted by other brands' artists.
@@adamfrost3722 OK, well word choice might need cleaning up, but does it matter when we are all gone? I guess not.
@@rhetriver nothing really matters
Uhh,, precision shells??? Uhh Nordic shells!??? Uhh I really have had enough of deep bass drums!! 14" deep bass drums are the most versatile!!!! Bassy punch is just one color but a 14" shell will do that too!
CONSIDERABLY less costly than Gretsch USA.
Sounds like gretsch. Just buy gretsch
